I promised God I wouldn't go beyond my peace when returning a faulty paver saw with a bald blade and a worn out motor. My guy was supposed to cut 700 brick pieces and spent about five hours to get out 100 and that was after I purchased my own 14 inch diamond blade. Went to return, hoping for some common sense from the rental section. 10% off and the employee said that he'll put it down that it broke at the job site. I wish they knew what a financial disaster this was for my company, I was really hoping they would rent better equipment. My hand tile Grinder cut five times as fast. While I still highly recommend this Home Depot for the attention and service of the people inside, especially the pro desk, it's becoming increasingly annoying that they don't have any parking space anymore. Over the last two years their equipment and truck rental business has overtaken the six rows of parking in front of the contractor entrance. Sure, they dedicated three or four spots in two of the rows for contractors, but that is not enough. Contractors jam the loading zone and have to park in front of the trampoline park. This Home Depot needs to move its rental business further out in the lot instead of hogging the six rows right where their contractors are supposed to park. It was not always this way. Hopefully they didn't make adjustment soon before the trampoline park starts complaining that contractors are parking in their spaces. read more

One of the most incompetent companies I've ever dealt with. Zero customer service or reliability. Will only shop at Lowes or Menards going forward. Ordered a Shop Vac for my brother in law for Christmas, was supposed to arrive the day before. A week later has still not arrived so I called and after an hour with customer service found out it was lost and they canceled the order with barely an apology. So I order it for delivery at the Downers Grove location. Shipping shows it arrived at the store but they can't find it. They cancel the new order after not letting me talk to a manager and seeing if I could get some sort of discount on the more expensive one but nope they won't let me do that either; just keep transferring me around. read more

We love Bill in appliances. He assisted us with a Bespoke fridge a few years ago and we returned today for a washer and dryer and were so delighted to see Bill again for this purchase as well. I had a coupon code for 24 months special financing and we hit a bit of a snag when trying to apply it to the order. I was going to leave 2 stars because of my most recent visit however I've been there several times and this was the one time I wished I hadn't I went in for a return and then to purchase pavers and a few flowers but my waiting in line for a return was so long that when I finally got helped I was done and left with buying nothing. There was no one in line for returns (feeling happy about that). One person working and one customer returning. I patiently waited and waited and waited some more. The gentleman working seem to be busy chatting with the customer returning a fan and 3 pieces of trim wood (all the same prices) I literally stood there more than 15 minutes waiting for my turn. Luckily some female worker (I think coming off break) started up and said next. I was relieved as the male worker was still returning the same items 15 minutes ago. Once I got help it was fast. I was done before the gentleman worker was done With the same customer now almost 20 minutes later. I called the Lawn & Garden center to ask if the vegetable plants that were already growing had hardened off. I believe the lady I spoke to was Erin. Although she said no they weren't, she started laughing at me at the phone, as if I asked the stupidest question in the world. According to her, "Just because the plants are outside, that doesn't mean they can be planted outside." Mind you, I specifically said that I wanted to put them in containers outside. She laughed a few more times while trying to apparently explain to me that plants should not go in the ground until after the frost. I went to the store, and there is a wide and spacious parking lot, and I did not really have a hard time because parking is easy and accessible. The store is big and spacious. Although the store has a nice layout and everything is organized, the employees are always friendly and helpful, and they have answers for whatever I ask about. They are also knowledgeable about pretty much everything. There are a variety of options and choices for everything, and I like them. The employees also have suggestions and recommendations that I must say are really helpful and sometimes true. They do not only have good quality products but also, of course, the best and most improved or updated products as well. I got to choose everything I like, and I do not really have a problem with its quality, designs, or anything else because everything is guaranteed to be great. The prices are also fair and reasonable. I highly recommend this store. I have remodeled my whole house via this store. They pretty much have everything under the sun. And if not, they'll have it shipped to the store. Personally I hate big box retailers but Home Depot is an exception. Especially this one. Tonight I dealt with Gwen who provided me with incredible personable service which I would only expect from a small mom and pop shop. Actually this was kindness and courtesy that you could only get at a corporate store and to be able to do it with a personal touch is amazing. I have dealt with many employees here, especially regarding plumbing (Gary), and paints (don't know the lady's name) but most employees are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Obviously you'll get some that lack the personal touch everyone hopes for but of all the Home Depot's in the area that I have dealt with this one takes the cake. A+ job guys (and gals) read more

I've talked to knowledgeable people in nearly every department. We've purchased appliances here. I've come to trust the folks at this location. DISCLAIMER: this review is based on Home Depot's "home repair" estimate that I had done. I have a 6 foot by 6 inch window next to my front door that someone smashed when they tried to break into my home. I filled out the online form and requested someone come out to give me an estimate on a repair and replacement cost. The online process was simple enough. I filled out the information and requested a service consult. They were able to come out the next day. Great. Guy comes out, does some measuring. Comes back in. "It's going to be 1200.00." Me: (not a contractor so I'm not SURE BUT...)....uh, really? I went to Ace Hardware and they quoted me 80 bucks for the glass... Guy: well, it's attached to the same area as a door, blah blah blah... Me: thanks. I'll think about it. I ended up calling some local guy that I found online. Came out the same day, grand total of 150.00. Now, I don't know if it was because I'm a woman, or if he thought it would be easy to rip me off, but that. Is. Atrocious. What a giant scam, Home Depot. Shame on you. I was in need of getting a portion of a plastic storage lid cut out. It was my first time doing this and so as I walked in I was looking for an employee to ask how to go about getting it cut within the store. First employee referred me to another person who was in a group chat with 2 other employees. I told them what I needed. One of them in the circle first says to me "Are you buying that?" and I replied with "No, I'm not because I brought it from home." He didn't have anything to add to it and then the next lady said "I don't know, try lumber, maybe they can help you." That was it. No one wanted to walk me down or anything. I went to lumber, they referred me to tool rentals. That is where the nice gentleman cut my lid for me and free of charge as well. I needed to find mesh or netting to cover the open space on the lid. I asked another employee where I could find some. They had no clue. They also did not volunteer to walk over to any aisle with me. I ended up not finding any and I was short on time so I just left. I will go to the one nearby my house instead. This location seriously lacks good customer service. I've been to other places where people walk you to the specific aisle and answer any questions you might have. Nothing like that here. Oh well, they just missed out on a sale. I'm glad I got my thing done but I feel like I could've gone to a different location to get better service. If you're someone who has knowledge in this department you'll have an easy time at this store. But if you're someone like me who doesn't have much experience or knowledge in this stuff, this will not be the store for you. I purchased an item online for in store pickup. On the way out a casher accidentally rang up the item and the price was lower. I called about the price difference, and I have to drive back to the store to return the item and re-purchase it to get the 30$ price difference, instead of just crediting my debit card for the online purchase. I think it's a small thing to expect that when you order paint the container would be closed tightly! It wasn't and The paint wrecked the inside of my car when it tipped over. The claims adjuster Ashley Munro from Sedgwick did Not respond to emails. I have purchased paint in the past from other Home Depot stores. I will not be returning to this store due to their lack of responsiveness on this claim who's is Clearly Their fault. My wife and I went into Home Depot not knowing what to expect since a lot of these are a hit or miss. I have had good and bad experiences. I will however recognize one gentleman who went out of his way to help us. He was very helpful and knowledgeable! There were prob like 4 other people who just passed us and didn't even asked if we needed help. Typical Home Depot thing, but this one person named Doc as I saw by his name tag stopped. He gave me amazing advice on light fixtures and was nice. He made us laugh in a good way and even recommended items as well as ideas for a quick fix. The crew that did the installations were polite but they extremely inept & need much more training before they are sent out on jobs. They were at my house for 4 hours & then had to come back again the next day for a couple of hours to finish. They didn't have proper tools such as screwdrivers, drill, etc. In the process of installation: They rolled the refrigerators across the hardwood floor in the kitchen and left ruts all over the floor. They were unable to install the microwave until the next day because they needed a drill When they installed the gas stove they left a gas leak that I had to pay someone to come out on short notice to fix it. Not to mention that it could have blown up 8 attached townhouses. They didn't clamp the dishwasher to the counter leaving it unsafe to use and didn't install the insulation that came with the dishwasher. When they brought in the refrigerator the door swing needed to be switched to the other side & they said I would have to send the refrigerator back for a new one. I then called Home Depot & the person on the phone started telling me how to do it and when I asked if he would like to talk to one of the installers & he said "Not really". I handed the phone to one of the installers to hear how to switch the swing. of the door. They didn't have the proper tools to do it so they tried doing it with what they had & in the process, they scratched the front door in two places right at eye level, left the freezer door handle so loose it shifts when used. They hung the frig door with one screw & dented the front of the door. When they pulled the logo off the door to switch the handle they bent the logo so that it would go back in the remaining hole & told me I could put a frig magnet over the hole. They were there for 4 hours the first day & the next day for 2 more hours and blocked my neighbor's driveway for 4 hours, They left broken glass in the garage. On top of all this it has been weeks of phone calls & emails with: sales associate, her manager, referred to another HD person who told me that because the damage happened during delivery it was the responsibility of the third party delivery company who then said they were only local & the national had to take care of it, somehow it became the responsibility of Sedgewick, the HD"fulfillment" company who then turned it over to XPO but they never answer or their voice mail was full. All of this has taken 9 weeks and nothing has happened. I am going to dispute the cost of the appliances on my credit card. read more

We shopped this Home Depot frequently. I have to saying during COVID-19 they have NOT been helpful at all! Won't offer military discounts online, their commercials says we are here for you offering free delivery, but out of 55 items in a cart, not 1 is eligible for free delivery!! Some of their items you can't even add to a cart - it says you have to come inside to pick it up. Customer Service has not been friendly over the phone, more so just annoyed sounding. This is not the same treatment I have experienced before the pandemic and I truly expected more from Home Depot. After calling and talking to an assistant manager he gave us instructions to help with our online order by calling back and talking to a sales representative. We called back 15 minutes later following his instructions in which the manager picked up again sounding annoyed, rude and ended up hanging up on me. As a professional in the industry, I will never return to Home Depot again, I will take my business to Lowe's and let everyone know how disgusted we are with Home Depot. Shockingly bad. Attempted to purchase a door here. Measurements were done in April. Did not receive a quote until middle of May, and only after several phone calls. Door arrived at the end of June, and turned out to be the wrong size due to incorrect input of measurement, by their own admission. At no time was any compensation offered, even after speaking to corporate customer service. Cancelled order after no guarantee could be made that they could deliver the correct sized door. Targetted Robbery Home Depot Oak Brook, IL We were at this Home Depot in May. Bought equipment, loaded into our van, returned to get the paint which they were mixing. Had a bad feeling after just moments of going back into the store, ran out and two men in a red car had broke into the van and were just taking the last item out - a huge and heavy lawn mower, which they didn't get. They fled instead, seemed to have a lookout somewhere. Chased them but they got away. Had the "luxury" of going back in and buying it all again - great business for Home Depot for sure. Home Depot staff not very sympathetic or helpful. Basically indicated it was our tough luck... once you walk out of the store, even though the parking lot is on their property, everything is up for grabs. Filed a police report, but these guys were professionals. Struck in minutes. Staff didn't seem surprised by this robbery at all. The Loss Prevention manager never even returned my many calls even though I was told several times he would. Was later told he never does per "policy". Singled-out, tracked and targetted by robbers who hit in minutes. Be careful if you shop there . read more

Seeing as this is mere minutes from our new house, Home Depot is pretty much our new favorite place. I've heard people say, in the past, that big box hardware-type store employees don't always know what they're talking about, but this has not been my experience at HD. Everyone we've talked to so far, across multiple Home Depots, has been very friendly and helpful, and has given the distinct impression that they know their subject matter, be it electrical, paint related, or just where to find something in the store. Prices are comparable to what you'd find elsewhere and they carry Behr, which seems to be among the top picks for good paint. Basically, if you need something for your house, from flooring to tiny paint brushes, this is the place to go. I have no doubt we'll keep coming back. read more

I normally would have not gone to this location, but I was in the area. I came with a list of items I needed to recaulk a bathtub and patch holes in drywall. I walked around a good 5 minutes until I could find which aisle I needed to be in. A woman employee approached me and asked if I needed help. Yes, please. Reviewing a Home Depot. Hm. Well, ok. I usually avoid Home Depot like the plague because of their crappy customer service and tendency to make my life difficult. Sometimes though I have no choice but to go. I have to say, this store is super clean and every person working there that I've dealt with or walked by has been very nice and very helpful. It's a shock to the system. I don't know how to react sometimes. Anyway, the only thing I really hate about this one is the self check out line. Usually there is a line, something is goofy with one of the registers or the person tending the area treats me like a criminal, going through all my bags counting things to make sure I'm not stealing. Don't shop here for appliances or any home improvements that require delivery and installation. We have been customers of this Home Depot for since they first opened over 15 years ago, however they have gone downhill rapidly over the past few years. Purchased a dishwasher and microwave, with delivery and installation. Took two trips into store and 5 hours of time to get the order actually placed, since after their sales rep entered the order into their system, I received an email 3 days later saying one item was not available so they cancelled the order. Had to go back and repeat the process. Finally on delivery day, it was a fiasco. The delivery service they contract out to sent two men who were unprofessional and untrained, to say nothing of slovenly and rude. They clearly did not want to do any work and started complaining from the minute they walked in, making up excuses for why they couldn't install dishwasher. I won't go into details, but will only say that they tracked mud into my home, scratched my slate entry floor, broke my shutoff valve to the water supply line under my sink and told me to break up my ceramic tile floor in front of dishwasher so they could remove the old one easily. I cancelled the order and had them take appliances away. I have now spent 3 hours on the phone with customer service over the last 2 days trying to get my refund and I keep getting the run around. Apologies but no action and no one taking responsibility. I will NEVER go to Home Depot for home services of any sort again. Do yourself a favor and shop at Sears. read more

Buyer beware of this store, I bought a 50 pound bag of patio stone filler and found a young store employee that helped be put it on a cart, proceeded to the cashier in the garden center and asked him if he could get someone to help me and he said he would if I pulled up my car to the door. Oddly enough my card was denied not once but twice. I was so embarrassed and told him that it wasn't possible, he gave me this "sure lady look" . I left called the card company and they say the employee denied the transaction twice. So it was then apparent to me that he simply didn't want to lift it for me and put it in the car. I may look healthy but I had 2 strokes and have such nerve damage that I couldn't lift it and I did try to get it off the shelf even.
