I was going to give a one star and a complaint about the Home Depot at Peachtree parkway but instead I will describe a positive review about the Shackleford location. The Shackleford location is one of the best of the best locations for renting Penske trucks. The staff at the tool rental area is very friendly and knowledgeable. They work efficiently and have a great attitude. It's easy to forget to praise when you get good service until you get truly horrible attitude and service elsewhere. With that in mind stay away from the Peachtree parkway location. I came on time to return my truck and waited 16 minutes in line for my turn. The guy checked me in and then charged me an extra hour and 50 dollars for insurance for an extra day. I came back in after seeing my receipt and he said "that's what the system did when I entered it in. You have to call Penske to change it". I rent trucks weekly from the Shackleford location and that would never happen. They are reasonable and if they did have to charge me they would explain it to me. Not just charge my care. Again I don't want to give them a one star so let's just all go to the Shackleford location and get great service. read more

Horrible experience, i was looking to buy paint for a house renovation and i came directly to the paint section expecting a quick service and i was waiting for 10 minutes at first when a worker said "i'll call someone for you" i get it sometimes you have workers on break sometimes but then 10 minutes became 30 minutes. me and my wife got frustrated and decided to leave. I was helped as i was walking out the store and at that point my trip felt idiotic. why would i need help after standing for 30 mins and clicking the ringer trying to call someone. it is a disappointment that we need to be helped when we are leaving. the workers seemed all happy and giggly talking to each other while i was trying to just get some paint. Samantha (Austin's fiancé) leaving this review - I just left Home Depot trying to get a simple wood board cut so I can install my new shelves. I had walked up to an older gentleman name Blake after searching the lumber department for 5 minutes with no luck of finding an employee for that specific department. Let me just say, it was quite busy. However, Blake still tried for another 5 minutes to help me find an employee in the lumber department to help me get some wood cut. Even he was having a hard time. He asked two people and by the time we made our way to the front of Home Depot by the cash registers, this is where the store manager John was walking by. Again, this sweet kind man Blake is continuing to try to find someone to help me (he didn't know how to use the saw / not his department). He then asked the store manager John if someone was available to help and John proceeds to yell at him saying "the whole damn lumber department" in the most condescending way and the continues to huff & puff stomping his feet as he walked away. Mind you, this was in a presence of 20 people standing in line / employees at registers. I say woooooow that was insanely rude. The employees all look over at me and go yeah...then put their heads down. The vibe I got was that this is how he speaks to the employees all the time. Even after this, Blake continued to try to find help - he made a phone call and it ended up going to take a lot longer than the time I had (again, they were really busy). I want to say thank you to Blake for his help and for also staying together after being spoken to like that. Home Depot, you need to hire more people or staff up. I won't be returning this Home Depot after hearing how that store manager speaks down to employees ESPECIALLY when they are helping a customer. He had the balls to speak / act like that in front of MANY customers - I can't imagine how he speaks to them behind closed doors. read more

Every year my company purchased $5000 in HD gift cards. I have made this purchase for at least 15 years so I know that when I am told that I can purchase only $400 in gift cards, I know that the information is not accurate. Then when asked to speak to the store manager, I suppose she decides if she makes me wait long enough I will leave -which is exactly what I did eventually. Shame in your management style as your strategy did not work. I will drive to a more accommodating location interested in making large sales. Don't waste your time with this location unless you are desperate. Oh and by the way, I drove to the next closest HD and purchased every gift card I needed. Seems like the Shackleford management either does not know company policy or lacks vision and creativity in developing a highly productive store. Drove an hour to this store to pick up an item that was shown as in stock. Found the items on a top shelf. Had to go through the whole store to find someone to get a ladder... they refused. They then said they would not sell the items because they were not on the main (lower) shelf. Ok, was going to drop over $1000 and go home happy. Went in to pick up a tool box. Was already met with excuses about the one I wanted to purchase and was suggested I get a different color bc it was already on the floor. Told them no thank you, I needed that specific color. After waiting for 45 minutes they come to tell me that it's too heavy and they can't/won't get it down and they don't have enough people because they can't find anyone, because it's heavy. I don't like Home Depot in general. It's cause I think it's a boring store haha. My hubby would disagree. I always find there are not enough workers and most are too "busy" to help you and have to search to find someone's assistant. With all that said, What you need for your home, for indoors or outdoors, it's at Home Depot. Well, most of the things you could find, especially for home improvement, repairs, and maintenance. I was in search of flooring and carpeting, Mr. Mitchell was very nice and helpful . He took his time to find out which vinyl laminate flooring I wanted and carpeting. Mitchell reviewed everything on his computer and even suggested a less or more reasonable price with great value for my carpeting . I have been there couple of times and each time was helped by a employee... who promptly guided me to the correct section and got the me the right equipment and stuff I needed.. Arrived there at 7 PM sharp. It was freezing cold, raining, and windy. I got my nine month old out of his car seat and walked to the front doors to find that they were locked. All the signs said that the store closed at 8 PM on Sunday, the lights were on inside, and there were employees standing inside clearly ignoring us. There were no signs saying that they were closing early that day. I walked back to my car and called the store; they said that they were closing an hour early for their employee Christmas party. The girl I talked to didn't even acknowledge that this was any kind of inconvenience or seem concerned at all about the lack of communication to their customers. In the time it took me to get back to my car and call the store, they must have turned away another 40 or so people from the doors, all who had to walk all the way to the store and try the doors and go through the same confusing and frustrating experience I did because no one could be bothered to hang a damn sign. This location has an idiot for a store manager who would turn down thousands of dollars for his store by closing early on a weekend during the busy December season. The lack of professionalism, customer service, and even basic common sense is appalling. I immediately left and went down the street to the nearby Lowes, and I highly recommend anyone who values their time to do the same. I usually prefer Home Depot and have no problem with the company in general, but this specific location is pathetic. read more

This is my normal Home Depot. I felt compelled to rate this store 5stars because of the greeter there today. He greeted each person as they came in and told each person which isle the item they are looking for is on. Rapid fire, crowds coming in, he knew where everything was for each customer that came in. Super Friendly and just saving everyone so much time. I swear I watched him save customers a cumulative 2 hours of searching in like 30 seconds. It was an older gentleman on oxygen. I hope y'all are paying that man double because he IS EARNING it. As long as y'all keep him around I'll have no need to go to smaller neighborhood hardware stores. read more

Service is a hit or miss here. Some employees are very helpful while others seem to hate their job and don't want to be bothered with customers. My biggest issue with this store however is things I need never seem to be in stock. Many times over this past month I was looking for items and in their store using the website only to see the message "not currently in your store". The website offers to ship it to the store for pickup but if I wanted it shipped I'd order from Amazon. When I go to B&M stores it's because I want an item right then. But if I ask one if she/he knows a lot about hardwood floors the answer would not be "Yes" if the extent of his/her knowledge of hardwood floors is that he/she has walked on them at some point in life and can distinguish between hardwood, tile and carpet. In California, service at The Home Depot was hit-or-miss. Here in their home base of North Georgia, the company obviously maintains a higher standard of service. Employees at my nearest location are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. When they don't know something, they make the extra effort to find out. Every cashier I've met there has been friendly, too, and patient when I had to split my purchase into three transactions. As mentioned in my review of Garden Ridge, their prices on garden items such as pottery are very competitive. Also, THD has good prices on cleaning supplies. They have made a fan of me! read more

I walked into Home Depot to get some material my co-workers told me I could use as a substitute for dry erase boards. The inside looked like any typical Home Depot store. I asked the lady about the board I was looking for and she directed me to the aisle and the gentleman that could help me. I walked over there and the guy was super helpful, we found the board I was looking for and he was nice enough to cut it for me! I know you are wondering, "what board did you buy?" LOL. Well, I am a teacher and needed dry erase boards for my students but did not want to spend $6-8 per dry erase boards and I needed about 25 of them. Going to Home Depot to get this board was the best decision ever! I got 32 boards and paid about $13 for it! Overall, the staff was awesome and I was happy with my product! read more

Just spent a half an hour in this store looking for an available lumber cart. (I also checked outside) and I also asked an associate outside for help finding a cart with no luck. I then go to the back of the store and I see a bunch of them being used as random storage, with little to none available to customers. So I went and found another associate and asked if possibly I could get the heavy lumber (pressure-treated 6x6 10ft long) that I was trying to purchase loaded with a forklift since, I could not find an available lumber cart and the lumber is heavy. I told her I was looking to buy 8 to 10 of them. She said NO. unless I'm buying a whole pallet they won't fork them. I asked her how much is in a pallet and she couldn't give me a straight answer and then told me to go find a cart. This is Honestly the worst customer service I've ever gotten. I wish remembered to get her name but I was so frustrated with the time wasted that I was done with this location and left. Home Depot do better! read more

After I got in their space and showed them the 5 gal. stain label I was looking for from the image on my device, one of them pointed and said "it's on the other side of that high wall." I asked someone on the floor and they said there is supposed to be 7 on the floor. No one could find them though. 4 hours later, it still said they had 3 online. read more

I was at the Duluth store and Mark was helping me in the door department. He was always very curteous and friendly! I was telling him how I needed to get a new patio door as my sliding glass door was completely impossible to open and close. The track, for some reason, was damaged in a few areas making it a nightmare to try to open and close the door. I was telling him also that I had very little money to work with. He suggested I purchase a $13 part that I had to order on line. The part came swiftly to the Home Depot store and I was sent a text telling me the part was there. I didn't have to pay shipping for it as it got sent directly to the store. I told Mark that I didn't feel I would be able to lift the doors off the track to install the part. This metal sleeve was supposed to fit over my existing damaged track but you would have to remove the sliding glass doors and put the metal sleeve on top of the old track and hammer it in place. I didn't feel I had the upper body strength to be able to accomplish this. He offered to come to my house and install it himself on his off time. Now if that isn't customer service, I don't know what is. Mark is a one-of-a-kind gentleman that needs to be recognized for his generosity and I couldn't thank him enough. My sliding glass door that I never thought would work again and I was having to face paying at least $800-$1000 for new doors, only cost $13 and now is very smooth when I open and close it. Cathy that works at Home Depot is very unprofessional. I went to this location to return an item a few weeks ago. To start, they way she spoke to her employees in front of customers was unacceptable, so i assumed she must be a manager of some sort. Well Then there was a couple in front of me returning several items. She advised them that she didn't see them walk in with the items they were returning and where did they get the items from. The couple insisted their car, but how rude of you to assume this family was stealing when your policy without a receipt is receiving a store gift card anyways, that only you can use. Her attitude stinks, and she needs to be re trained on how to provide excellent customer service to whomever steps foot in that establishment and leave the attitude at home. I caught how curt she was, especially with those of Hispanic decent and i didn't appreciate it and i am not Hispanic. She wasn't friendly and no one who is spending their hard earned money should be treated in that manner, returning items or not. read more

I can't tell you how many times I've left a full shopping cart so I can drive 10 miles away and get everything I needed from Lowe's. Having found a couple of tools that I desperately needed in stock at the Duluth Georgia Home Depot, I reluctantly set out to purchase them. I say reluctantly since I'd had regular issues in that particular store. The last time I went we were looking for cleaning supplies for our business, but found the aisle blocked off, with no signs of anything going on, and no employees to be found anywhere in the vicinity. After quite some time we abandoned the effort and found what we were looking for at Lowe's. This time I had the location (aisle and bin numbers) for the tools that I wanted, but could not find them. I went to Customer No-Service and was directed to an employee standing around in a nearby aisle. He told me that once tools come into the area "there's no telling where they might actually be" and that was that. I was basically dismissed. I went to the Lilburn Home Depot and got the tools I needed. I've complained about the Duluth store and have always wound up with pockets full of nothing. Avoid the place if you possibly can. I attempted to complete an "Enter to Win / survey" from the purchase, but received a "User ID and Password (printed on my receipt) already used" message from the online system, thus my comment herein.
