For what it is worth, as a new homeowner of three months I am happy I have this location in my back yard. Came in on Labor Day with a list of homeowner items I need. Like any other big box store I imagine the layout is similar to any other Home Depot. Although I never really came into one to shop multiple items of a vast range I slowly made my way around picking away at my list. Found almost everything. Mind boggling to find out hurricane survival kits are sold online only, so much for trying to be prepared. The Home Depot in Enfield is awful. Do not go there. They don't know what they're doing and they don't care the manager could care less. I made a reservation for a truck to rent the day before when I got there there was no trucks available and they sent me a cancellation. I'm guessing in the morning I made a lot of plans. I lost a lot of money to move some stuff. Go rent a truck somewhere else go to Lowe's do not go to that store in Enfield. The guy working the paint counter on 4/19 was probably the rudest and most dismissive person I have ever worked with at a home improvement store, and that's saying something. I usually try to avoid this store anyway, but I was in a bind last night. Ive never been so seething mad at a service experience. Paid, in store, for a pallet of play sand and waited an hour and a half for them to bring the pallet to the front of the store to load. After about 30 minutes I started complaining every 15 minutes and asking to see the store manager. Store manager was too much of a coward to come address me or answer why he couldn't manage to get a single pallet to the front of the store. He kept giving his employees excuse after excuse for why he couldn't come talk to me. Dozens of employees standing around uselessly. What a horrible operation. This used to be one of the better HD's and I'll skip it and go to Manchester from now on. Paid at 4:10, reversed the charge at 5:36 and left WITHOUT the sand. Pathetic. read more

Ordered a gallon of paint for curbside pickup at 1:30pm. Went to go pick it up at 5pm. Checked in on the app and waited 15 minutes; no one came out. Re-Checked the app and the app stated that someone would be out. My instincts told me to go inside. I went to the service desk and waited some more as there were 3 customers ahead of me. Once it was my turn I told the employee that I had a curbside order and had waited outside for 15 minutes for a can of paint and asked if anyone had been assigned to curbside. The employee apologized and said that they had not opened the app to look for curbside orders. Though I do like this Home Depot, the service here is very slow and you literally have to grab an employee to get help otherwise they will walk by you without a word. It has turned into a "self serve" for sure. I thanked the employee and told him it was okay but it was a wait that was not expected. I'll know better next time! read more

I'd like to give a shout out to Brian, who helped me find three low-ticket items, and treated me like a big spender VIP. He walked me to each aisle I needed to find the products I wanted. While we were renovating our home (still actually doing it), Home Depot was one of our main go-to places to get what we needed quickly. The personnel are all extremely knowledgable and helpful. The installers were professional and very good to work with. The counter top installers were unable to get to my home twice due to road work but they handled the rescheduling without a problem. Excellent, friendly service at this Home Depot. With a large snow storm approaching, we stopped by this HD around 9:30pm (they open till 10pm) after our dinner at Outback Steakhouse down the street. We checked out their selection of snow shovels. Since we have never been in Massachusetts during winter, we asked an associate which of the two shovels we chose would be better to dig a car out of snow at an apartment building. One associate didn't know, so she asked another co-worker and she (2nd associate) recommended the snow shovel with the metal on the leading edge because that would help break ice and quote "there's a lot of ice in this area!" Thanks Home Depot. The shovel was $13.97 and the one we didn't buy was $9.99. Both were mostly hard plastic. Xie Xie! read more

Ordered 260 landscape blocks online to build a retaining walk. Paid for shipping due to the extreme weight. Order was delivered on time on 2 pallets. The blocks were wrapped and bound to the skid. I installed the the blocks from one skid without issue. When I unwrapped the 2nd skid, I discovered the blocks were the wrong color. Contacted CS and got the run around between a handful of different reps. Its not rocket science to arrange a pickup of 126 wrong color blocks and leave 126 correct ones. But, this was beyond the capabilities of HD CS to getvthis done. I had already lost a week of time screwing around with these idiots so I ended up ordering the replacement block s online again and paying for shipping a 2nd time. Its still up in the air if/when they will show up to pick up the returns. I will end up having to settle this issue with my credit card company. I am amazed how bad customer service can be. read more

Poor customer service. Workers don't want to engage or help. When I asked for help and tried to understand why an aisle was closed, and where the item was that I needed, they walked away. "Aisle closed," they said. I wanted to know if someone could go and get it for me since I couldn't go down myself, but never got the chance to ask because they just walked away. I frequent this HD because it is the closest to my house. I have been going here for about 5 years and although most of the experiences have been good I think there are a couple of things that get in my craw every time. The traffic in front of the store is pretty consistent so it's hard to cross the street to your car. The slopes in the parking lot make it pretty easy for a card to go into your car. I have never had someone offer to help me at this location even with 2 flat cards of mulch. There seems to be (of late) an over whelming number of people that have been hired on the sole qualification of them being able to breathe, and have found myself a couple of times being asked to help someone in plumbing, hardware, outdoor or tools because i guess i look more experienced than most that work here. read more

We bought custom runners from Home Depot. We ordered the carpets with a sisal style binding but they were delivered for install with a standard binding. After a lot of back and forth, a 3rd party company was brought in to bind the carpet. It was WAY more than either Home Depot or I could have expected due to a deficient quantity of binding required from the initial estimate. I worked the problem with Gary, the assistant store manager. He was a professional the entire way through my ordeal. In the end, Gary and the store manager did the right thing and covered the additional cost...in the process eating a large chunk of change on this issue. Only reason not 5 stars: it would have been better if this was done right the first time and there was no misunderstanding at the point of sale. read more

I went to Home Depot in Enfield twice for some kitchen, bath and door hardware. Both times they only had two or three items I needed. They wanted to send me to two other stores to meet my needs. I explained that I have a job already and that I won't let them make their jobs mine. They said they could order the hardware for me but it would take a week to receive. I explained that my contractors are at my house now and that I could get the items on the internet in 24 hours. The same situation occurred today at the Boston Road location in Springfield MA. I have avoided internet shopping in order to retain jobs being replaced with technology. However, if the local or national stores are going to stop carrying inventory in order to cut carrying costs, they are forcing my hand. I'll be the next prospective customer going online shopping tonight. read more

The Enfield store has to be the worst run HD around. An ex-employee told me the stores are rated A, B and C. The A & B stores, like Manchester and West Springfield are better stocked and have more help. Enfield is C rated and it shows. First, the store has rock music blaring to the point that it's annoying and makes it difficult to talk. The front main isle way is always blocked with "specials" you can barely get a shopping cart through. Good luck getting help in the lumber or sheet rock section. The sales people avoid this area like the plague. I needed 35, 4"x8' furring strips the rack only had about 10 all of which were unusable, broken and badly twisted. Basically only good for firewood. There were two new strapped bundles. Finally tracked down help and asked to have the straps cut. He refused saying he wasn't allowed to open a new bundle until the rack is empty. I had to take the what was left in the rack first. Then said he was busy and walked away. Really?!?!. Went to Lowes and they had what I needed. An employee helped me without hassle. read more

Even though this was formally reported to the corporate office, I don't feel that this is something we can be quiet about. Last week my husband and I were visiting this location to purchase items for our bathroom renovation. We found a vanity that we fell in love with but the box it was in had significant damage and was taped closed. A gentleman from the sales department (who I will not name because he was super helpful) told us he'd give us 25% off and wrote it on the box and signed it, telling us just to let the cashier know they could called him if there were any issues. We ended up having to grab a few more things before checking out 30 minutes later.. (who knew there were so many faucets to chose from!) As soon as we got to the cashier, Sharon, her whole demeanor had changed. When helping the (white) gentleman in front of us, she was all smiles, just happy and helpful. She looked at my 6'4, black husband, and immediately labeled us as criminals. While checking us out (two smalls items in our carriage, some wood, and a vanity) she insisted that I lift my coat so she could "check for items we could have hidden". (Which I happily did and then questioned why she would even ask that since my coat was on the side of the cart and the whole cart was visible!!) She then told us that she didn't feel comfortable giving us 25% off and that we could have written on the vanity ourselves so she was going to call in the back to make she there was a person working by that name. She THEN called someone else over and explained to them that she STILL didn't feel comfortable giving us the 25% off. At this point I was getting very upset with her rudeness and asked both her and the person she had called over to call a manager because I was not going to tolerate her blatant disrespectful tone and demeanor towards myself and my husband. When the manager came over, the manager told her to give us the 25% off.. NO PROBLEM. Sharon then said, ok well I didn't feel comfortable and went to dismiss the manager. I then made the manager aware of Sharon's rudeness towards us and how she had been almost strip searched me and making us feel like criminals and the manager just laughed it off and said, "noooo". I then paid for our $500 in items and let them know I'd be calling corporate. No apologies, nothing. At this time I had just gotten out of work and was in my professional attire.. 6 months pregnant.. and because my BLACK husband was there in his casual clothing, we were treated like trash. We were racially profiled by SHARON AT THE HOME DEPOT. And we will never shop at home depot again after this incident. read more

I cannot believe this young man only 26 years old got the virus while working at Home Depot in CT and died. Sadly, their only paying their employees $12 an hour to risk and jeopardize their lives for such a small salary, that just doesn't seem like enough and they don't/can't wear gloves while working, obviously, Home Depot is not caring about their employees or they would at least pay them a little more. To expect people to work during this time...unemployment is paying $600 a week and people at home are getting $850 a week and these workers are not even getting $400 a week risking their lives as essential workers. And worse they don't pay their employees time and a half to work on a holiday, during this epidemic it is devastating, to think these workers still continue to support Home Depot during an epidemic getting only $12 an hour and worked Memorial Day, and got nothing more. I like to try and do things myself, when it comes to dealing with buying anything from stores (even online stores), as I find that not too many people really give a hoot if they answer your question appropriately, give you the proper help you need, or even help you with sharing their product knowledge, or should I say...lack thereof (major training issues and attitude issues!). I'm looking to get one more roll of a beautiful wallpaper border that I was given (yes, I'm actually going to use a border in my laundry room!). I have the original roll in its original packaging, so live chatted with Home Depot online. In my original question, I stated exactly what I was searching for, and provided: the model#, the manufacturer, and the UPC. I got asked for the manufacturer and the model#, and got nowhere. I asked why they couldn't look it up by the provided UPC. I was told they can't look it up by the UPC (insert eyeball roll). I then asked for an email for the mfr, whose name I provided in my original query. After a 24 minute chat, I went away with nothing that I asked for. Nothing. I was told maybe the actual store could help me. So I called the Manchester, CT Home Depot. I pressed the number for the "Blinds & Wallpaper Dept", but got no answer. I got rerouted back to the service desk (?) four times- asking Jenn for the wallpaper dept each time, got transferred out to the floor five times, and then someone picked up my call (by accident?) as they were speaking to someone else. I said hello, and got immediately put back on hold. I called back, got the same no answer, and kept getting cycled back to the service desk, to Jenn, who kept sending me to the wallpaper dept, as I asked each time. Some male finally picked up my call I told me that they don't sell wallpaper in that particular store. I asked if they still carried the books you can order from. No. I was so disgusted that I spent almost fifteen minutes selecting the wallpaper dept from the store phone menu, and that this Jenn associate kept transferring me to the wallpaper dept. Has she no knowledge of the store not selling wallpaper??? I called back a third time, and she answered. I asked her if they really didn't sell wallpaper or have books to order out of. She said no wallpaper. Neither in stock nor books to order it from. She also stated that they haven't sold it in a long while, as she'd been there for 3yrs and they never had wallpaper while she worked there. I have to wonder...why didn't she mention they didn't sell wallpaper every time I asked for the wallpaper dept?!! Why do they have an extension for the "Blinds and WALLPAPER Dept"? Why did every single associate that picked up (except the last gentleman), to transfer me back to the service desk when I asked for the wallpaper dept, not tell me they didn't sell wallpaper- that I had to go online for that?? Is there that much a lack of store product/department knowledge? Is it a case of "it's not my job" to tell me they don't sell wallpaper? Seriously, how can I spend almost 15min looking for the wallpaper dept, only to be told by the service desk associate that transferred my call over ten times to" the wallpaper dept", that there is no such thing??! Whatever happened to good old fashioned customer service? All total, I spent over an hour searching for this wallpaper with Home Depot. I'd definitely give them one star for their terrible customer service, except I'm a shareholder. Some good advice: If you're looking to paper a powder room, an accent wall, or just be an old fart and put a border in one of your rooms, forget buying the paper from Home Depot (you can buy their wallpaper online ONLY), as you'll only have problems and apparently they're not teaching people skills or customer service anymore. Have been waiting since feb for a replacement to the broken mirror I was given... I can't really blame the store, but there isn't a yelp for the 800 #. I am a very reasonable person, yet I have been treated very poorly and told to keep waiting and "get over it, things take time" from the 800 # associates... I addition what I bought in February Broken has still not been replaced and it's May. Not to mention... When I did get a replacement it was not even the item I ordered!!! Just tried going into the store at 6:25pm on Sunday night (posted hours on the stores website and on the store doors say the store closes at 7pm on Sundays) and was denied entry. There were about 10 people trying to get into the store at this time as well and a sales associate (a man) came to the door which was locked and said he wasn't getting fired for letting us enter! He locked the doors again and walked away. As we were driving away, we noticed there were other customers trying to get out of the store as well and he had to come back to the doors and unlock them again to let those people out. I've never seen so many "associates" (mostly males) walking around, trying to avoid doing work. And if you attempt to order something through the Pro Desk, good luck. Be prepared to have your order completely screwed up. And when you have to go into the store to unscrew it up (because getting a hold of someone on the phone at the Pro Desk is impossible), plan for at least 2 hours. I went in to this Home Depot to get something to refinish the claw foot bathtub in the apartment I'm renting as it is old and my children enjoy picking the finish off during bath time. Needless to say I started out in the plumbing section near the tubs. I spoke with an associate who told me they sold nothing for that, to maybe try the paint department and just paint the tub. A little annoyed with this response and the fact he didn't ask any other employees if they knew of anything was disappointing. I went to the paint department and was told by another associate that they did not sell anything specifically for refinishing bathtubs. I gave up and went looking for the rest of the items I had come shopping for. While grabbing some high heat spray paint, I turn around and low and behold, on the shelf behind me, AN ENTIRE BOX KIT TO REFINISH TUBS AND SINKS! No one in this store knew they even sold it. I recommend some training of the employees or people won't be making the maximum purchase they could. I have a feeling, I have been traveling to other stores and this store has had what I needed all along, just no one knows where it is! read more

After speaking to one of the store managers, I was impressed that they took responsibility and didn't try to pass the buck of give one of those "Well, I'm sorry if they told you that but there's nothing we can do." lines. The manager explained new policies being put in place to address this issue and I was compensated for the trouble. ========================================================== First... the only reason this place gets 1 star instead of 0 (aside from this site not allowing for 0 stars) is because I can usually get in and out pretty quick and they are very close to my house and their prices seem reasonable. Other than that... they suck!!!! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE TO DO ANY FORM OF INSTALLS... especially flooring!!!!! On or about 7/27/2013: My wife and I are soon closing on a new house in Enfield, CT. We go to Home Depot for flooring. We had a great sales experience. The sales person appears to know what he was talking about and everything was pretty simple. We picked a Laminate that we were told was "in stock" and that we could get delivered quickly. We also confirmed that they will delivery to the upstairs (where it is being installed) as I have had recent knee and ankle surgery and would not be able to carry it. We were also told that there would be no problem having it installed by 8/21/2013. But that's when it started to go down hill and now, I see that what their contractors say is true: This Home Depot in Enfield, CT will tell you anything you want to hear just to get your money. 8/1/2013: Someone comes out to measure for the flooring on time and goes very smoothe. 8/3/2013: We pay about $4K for our flooring and installation so they can start setting things up. 8/5/2013: Get a call from Home Depot. The Laminate is not in stock. We have to wait. But, they still assure us that 8/21/2013 is do-able. 8/10/2013: Still waiting to hear about the laminate. Go into the store and talk to customer service to find out that it had been in the store for a couple days an no one bothered to call. So, we had to wait another week for delivery. But, per Customer Service, still installed by 8/21/2013. 8/17/2013: I was supposed to get a call in the morning to find out the delivery window. Nothing... Call Home Depot and they say were are in the 11AM to 1PM slot. OK. Delivery contractor comes about just before 1. Says they only deliver to the 1st room in the house. Also says that he completely believes that we were told by Home Depot that he would delivery to upstairs because they will say anything. So after calling and speaking to a manager, someone else is sent to bring it upstairs. It's just too bad I had to call to complain to get what I was initially promised. It also isn't fair for Home Depot to put their sub-contractors in such a bad position. I'm sure others would have gotten upset with the delivery-person instead of the real culprit. Later, call Home Depot again to get the number for the installation folks. I call and elave them a message so that we can confirm an install time on 8/21/2013. 8/19/2013: I speak to the installers. They are fully booked until the end of August and the earliest they can install is 9/3/2013. Doesn't do much good since furniture is being delivered on 8/22/2013 and everything else is moving in on 8/24/2013. After several conversations with the Enfield Home Depot, alas, still no install until 9/3/2013. I cannot believe that a company like this only has 1 laminate flooring sub-contractor for installations. That is ridiculous. But of course, they don't care. They have my money. So in their mind, they don't have to follow through on their promises. And that is why I say that, if you need something installed, stay away from Enfield Home Depot like the plague!!!!! read more

Seriously, Home Depot, open earlier on Sunday. It's the one day a week that you insist on opening at 8:00am instead of 6:00am. Sure, I know I'm officially an old man now that I'm at the hardware store before 8:00am on a Sunday. But, guess what: old men are your main demographic. I can't count how many people I've seen leaving because they don't want to wait for the doors to open. There's always a mob here by 7:00; just waiting for the store they thought opened earlier to open at 8:00. Yes, it's my responsibility to check your store hours. I'm not blaming you for my showing up earlier than your start time. However, I can find fault in the fact that at least two aisles that I needed to go down were closed for restocking. Seriously? It's called a night crew, you cheap bastards. Don't save a couple bucks at my expense. You did $74.8 billion in sales last year. Show your customers some respect. read more

Terrible repair service. After being told my mower tune up would take 2 weeks, I finally got it back tonight after 38 days. Also, told me they would replace the blade with a new one. That didn't happen either. Still has the old grass cake on blade it went in with. Definitely would not go back for repairs. read more

Location is just like any other depot. Products are relatively cheap and easy to find if you know the layout. Most employees are friendly however you can easily spot the rookies that don't know the difference between a 2x4 and 2x6. Then there are the employees that act bothered to have to stop chit chatting with their coworkers and help you. As such there is a high turnover and it's hard to find someone knowledge for large and complex orders. Very upset with this locations treatment of Pro customers and military veterans! Management has convinced employees to stop offering their 10% military discount unless you specifically ask the cashier for it and show a government issued ID. If you're a contractor that goes there everyday they don't easily make programs or displays available to save you $$$! Visits to their Pro desk are not as efficient now as they used to be with previous staff up there. Perhaps a change in the management would do wonders for this location! read more
