I've been a rocky customer for years and years. I've never been mailed coupons then I'm told you have to do it through the app never done anything through the app was never told I had to do it through the app. They got a pile of coupon right there they just couldn't take the 15% off to satisfy a customer. Nope the help has zero personality. I will be shopping at Home Depot or Lowe's for now.

Rocky's Ace Hardware in Vernon, Connecticut Stinks. This store really STINKS…read more I visited this store on Th-9-12-24, because I wanted a specific product. Their website said it could be ordered online, but then would not accept the order. The website specifically said that the product was in stock in the Vernon store. The product was not in stock. I asked to have the product ordered for me. I was informed me that the minimum quantity for an order was 48 items. I was not allowed to purchase a smaller amount. I asked if quantity for the store could be ordered and then put on the shelves so customers could purchase them. I was told they could not do that either. They have the product in their warehouse, they have a store, they advertise the product on their website, they say it's available at the store. It is not available at the store. AND they refuse to make it available. Why do they offer products for sale and then make it impossible for customers to buy them? Why do the Ace commercials claim prompt, courteous service, when I certainly did not get anything of the sort. And why do they expect customers to enjoy being treated this way? Do they really think they're going to prosper and profit by offering products for sale and then refusing to make the transactions? And then they tell me there's nothing they can do about it, that's just the way it is, but actually, IT'S THE WAY THEY MADE IT. I will, as much as possible, avoid this establishment in the future. Overall the selection is pretty decent...it is nice to have a hardware store of this size in the area (It's significantly bigger than the Ace on 44 in Bolton). Their hours are quite limited, and have often left me running all the way to HD or Lowe's in Manchester for impromptu weekend warrior work...so definitely check their hours or call before showing up. Prices are also a tad high (maybe 5-10% on most things I have bought), but I easily save that in time and gas (when they're open). The parking lot is huge if that's a concern, so feel free to bring a landscape trailer if needed. The people working there are all generally nice, and have helped me load my vehicle with cold patch bags, etc. on more than one occassion.

Linda manages Merchandising and Client Services....... she also brings you to the stuff you can't find. Both were expert in providing insight and solutions and were clearly highly educated, responsive, and engaged. The store has a strong Mechanical / Electro Mechanical, Plumbing, Landscaping, Building, Contracting, and Lighting section. If what you need isn't there Linda will have it at your home or job site the next morning. To me it was like visiting my friend's store in Johnson, VT. Family, fun, and your needs met. What I mean by fun is the shopping experience......... peaceful and angst-free....... very unusual compared to the chaos filled big box stores. The "Just Ask Rental" partnered with this True Value Store had what I needed in helping preparing my parent's flower and seed beds for the growing season that is set to begin. He filled the tanked only took a little over 2 gallons. I was surprised too because I thought it was empty. So I asked him do I get the difference. He said he didn't know so someone else came down and said sorry we charge fix price per fill. Bring it when it's empty he said. For $10 bucks, you wanna lose business go ahead then spend 5 times more in advertising to attract a customer. Sometimes it's not about the money, it's about how you make your customer feel. I go elsewhere now where I pay by the gallons.

HOWEVER... delivery was scheduled... the driver called at 11:45 to tell us they would be there in 20 minutes. At 12:00 I received a text stating "they could not complete our delivery" and someone would call to reschedule. WHAT?? Well apparently, due to a storm, there was a tree down on a street in our neighborhood (not ours) and the drivers chose not to detour the ONE MINUTE it would have taken them to go around the block. They just called 15 minutes earlier... they couldn't call me back??? I immediately called the delivery number they gave me and was told the drivers could NOT turn around, and the next delivery date was several days out. I went above and beyond to prepare for this delivery... even putting the old refrigerator right by the door for them. The drivers must be in the business of losing money for the company... after this debacle we immediately cancelled the order and purchased elsewhere.

They call you with an automated call, which is supppse to give you half an hour to be on site, and then they might come as quickly as 10 instead and will insist the customer handle it and push to let them drop the skid somewhere undesirable... and when they say curbside, they mean "Bottom of the driveway" and if you aren't here fast enough too bad, enjoy hand bombing stuff an extra time in 90 degree weather. The staff is vigilante, ready to defend the errors that their drivers or staff make. They will try to make you feel like you don't know there policy and procedures well enough, even when you have been going to them for years. Not only will you still be super mad by the time the conversation is over, but nothing will be rectified and they will keep making mistakes and putting the blame on the customer.
