Refused return for new-in-box items with receipt and less than 30 days from date of purchase!!! Product has never been out of box. Reason given is "due to store automation, returns are not guaranteed." There is an 800# to call but the idiots on that line dont even work for Home Depot and have no authority to do anything except tell you it's declined. There is apparently some elaborate appeals process whereby i can fill out paperwork and wait a month and maybe they will reconsider but eff that I spend over $10k/year here with Pro rewards and a HD credit card to boot. The worse customer service I have ever experienced. I needed assistance with an AC and had them call not once but twice. Waited 30 minutes for someone to come help me. The worst part is there were many employees just walking around. I had a few of items to purchase and requested to speak to a manager, never came to the front. Home Depot contracts all delivery to Temco Logistics from Hayward, this company is a joke. The people that they hired have no experience or proper training. Delivery was super late; refrigerator was damage during the process. The walls, door and refrigerator were left with dirty fingerprints from the delivery team. By the time that we wiped down the refrigerator and cleaned it up we notice the damaged areas, Home Depot has a no return policy so now we are stuck with the refrigerator. If you plan to buy any appliance or furniture consider Sears Or Macy's, their delivery team doesn't rush the delivery and also cleans up after themselves, wiping down walls, doors, and furniture. The worst Home Depot I've ever been to. There might be one or two people there qualified to do their job, the rest get paid to just hang out. They NEVER answer the phone. I stopped by this Home Depot looking for some essentials. Stud finder, level, measuring tape, hammer etc. It took a bit because one of the sales associate may have been new and didn't know which aisle they were located. The selection of some of these basics is a little limited basic as far as options but they do all get the job done. This Home Depot seems more compact than some of the others I've been to but on this trip I was just in search of the basics so I didn't roam around this trip. The second associate was able to point me in the right direction so you will be able to find someone who can point you in the right direction. I wasn't disappointed nor was I overly impressed but you can come through this location and find all the basic tools you need. read more

NEVER BUY A WARRANTY FROM HOME DEPOT, they will not take care of you in store with a warranty. You have to call the number on the form in order to get your product taken care of. So basically you're paying for a 3rd party warranty in store at Home Depot, they cannot look it up in store or take care of you in store. They sent us home with a product we used once that stopped working but because we didn't have the receipt and proof of warranty when we bought they couldn't take care of it. I really like this store. It's the one place I can find things quickly. The reason I am giving it a mediocre review, is because of the way they handle refunds on their rental trucks. I rented a Penske truck about a month back and was moving items out of storage and into my new home. I returned the truck in 4 hours and was due a $150.00 deposit back. I am aware it can take up to 72 hours for it to show up on my card. After that time period , I went back to the store and asked what the issue was with my deposit refund. The answer I received was "oh we forgot to issue a refund" we can take care of that right now. Ok so I was fine with that but a little flustered with so-so customer service. Forward to two weeks ago and we needed to move the rest of things out of the house and needed a truck.. Why not try again Home Depot and Penske.... well same issue AGAIN! Their response this time was " Oh we forgot to press send to process your deposit refund.." Really...Home Depot????? I ordered lumbers for a project that needed to be done at my house. On the scheduled delivery day driver arrives and was missing parts of my order. He made a call and indicated that I will be receiving a separate delivery later on that afternoon. After waiting all afternoon I decided to call customer service and upon making the call I found out that part of my order got cancelled because they did not have lumber at the store I ordered it from. I personally visited the Gilroy store to make the order. salesperson at the time of order has already told me that that part of the order will be coming from Santa Cruz store because it was not available at the Gilroy store. I had to go back to the store and had to reorder the missing lumber again and was scheduled for delivery 2 days later. I get a message stating that they have to reschedule the delivery on these 16 feet long lumber because it needed to be delivered on a different truck due to the length of the lumber. They should have known this at the time when they scheduled delivery!!! now I have to wait another 3 days for delivery!!!Extremely disappointed!!! read more

I did purchase this appliance from this store, but it isn't their fault Home Depot protection plan service is so bad. This is a bad review for their protection plan support on appliances. In 2015, we purchased a Samsung dishwasher for around $600. We bought the 3 year protection plan for another hundred dollars or so. The reason for this model was that all the buttons were hidden on the top of the door so our toddler daughter wasn't going to be there all day pushing buttons. The dishwasher worked fine for a few months and then started running on its own. Even pressing the power button wouldn't turn it off. We had unplug the unit from the wall so it would turn off. So we called Home Depot protection plan to have it serviced. The day the tech came out, I plugged it back in and it worked (just my luck.) He was nice enough to order two circuit boards for it if it happened again. 6 months later and of course on Thanksgiving day, it started having the same exact problem. So we called Home Depot protection plan to have it serviced. Home Depot gave us a time and date. Cool. A day later, the service company called me to schedule an appointment. I told the guy on the phone that I already made an appointment. He told me Home Depot doesn't know what they are doing and that I have to schedule though him. Okay. His next appointment available was a week and half later. Awesome. I love doing dishes by hand. (insert sarcasm.) So they send out a tech in early December. He replaces the circuit boards. He cleans out parts of the inside of the dishwasher and grabs one of the vegetable brushes off our counter and starts cleaning the inside of our dishwasher with it. WTF? Anyways he leaves and it works again. A week and half later. The same issue pops up again. This is getting ridiculous. So again, we call Home Depot protection plan. They set an appointment for the next week. They give me a time of 12-4pm. My wife takes off a half day of work to be there. 4pm comes and goes. So I call the service company. BIG SCREEN UNLIMITED. Call goes straight to voicemail. I leave them a detailed message of how they were supposed to come to our house between 12-4pm that day. Gave them the service number. My phone number. (Still no call or email from them after 3 days. Very unprofessional.) So I call Home Depot protection plan to see what's going on. After waiting 10 minutes on hold, my wife gets and email from Home Depot protection plan stating our service was completed. WTF? I am baffled. Finally after 25 minutes of waiting I get a service rep on the phone from Home Depot and tell her the service company never showed up. Her response was hmmmmm. Okay. Well let's see if we have a more reliable service company. Really? SMFH by now. Then she tells me we will call you in 3 business days with another company to come and service your appliance. By now I am fuming. And then she has the gall to ask me to complete a survey for her service. GTFOH. Home Depot only accepts a lemon law and replacement after the 4th service call. If we ever get this 3rd service call completed and it breaks again, I am going to short fuse myself. So now I am stuck with a $600 dishwasher that takes up space and is now being used as a wet dish rack. I am completely disgusted with this whole experience. And will no longer buy appliances from Home Depot ever again. Lowe's here we come. read more

Home Depot has changed their policy on returns. I purchased some drip system fittings a couple of weeks ago for a system I was putting in. I needed to exchange one type of fitting for another. Fittings were clean, new, labeled and in plastic bag. Unfortunately I paid cash and did not have my receipt. Long story short, customer service (Jessica) was rude and indifferent. Home depot had changed this return policy but left its customers to discover at the "customer service" counter by someone like Jessica. Clearly not a business model for success. I left without the fittings I needed as well, I will shop at Lowes. Another recent incident with Home Depot on a return: Rheem water heater return. Tank broke or cracked after 2 years on a 6 year warranty. I called Rheem as directed in the paperwork, obtained authorization for return to Home Depot. I checked the store location to make sure that had a replacement in stock (I live 40 minutes away). Long story short, the "help desk" would not honor the return. I asked them to call Rheem. The associate pretended to do this. I say pretend, because I had done it twice with the same number and there were prompts to get to the return department. The associate stood there acting like they were not picking up. I called on my cell phone and the Rheem center had to bark at them (there were 4 rude Home Depot associates present) to let me take a replacement water heater. This took me over an hour. A great way to add to the joy of replacing a defective water heater. Home Depot has ZERO idea of what customer service is supposed to look like unless you want to buy something. I hate to report this as I have been driving past Lowes for several miles to get to Home Depot as I have always gone to Home depot. That ended today, I am not going to have a 3rd nightmare at a Home Depot "customer service" counter. read more

We bought bamboo flooring there six month ago and were told by Home Depot that this flooring would not scratch even with having large dogs running on it. Now it has scratches all over and we only put it in the bedrooms, NOT high traffic areas. Home Depot customer service sent me from one person and phone call to the next with the summary that they do not feel at all responsible for their employees giving "recommendations". Terrible! Stay away from contracting this place for any home improvement jobs. Too many miscommunications and people here don't know what they're doing. Store manager Nelly and even district manager Mr Bellanger don't care. There are only two people that seem to care one is the cashier that I forgot to get her name, but she's the one who connected with Tim to get the job right. They will give you schedule to talk to them but they are constantly not available when you come to the store (complained to Mr. Bellanger, emailed was completely ignored). The guy who measured the area that needs flooring replacement didn't even ask or give me instructions of how things are going to be (something that the district manager said it should have been done). If that first communication took place none of the mess I'm in right now won't exist. District manager will not respond to any email to avoid trails of conversation. He called me once, but never left a message. I just had to guess who called and I called back. Very unprofessional staff except the two I mentioned above. I'm surprised why these people still have a job, but maybe I shouldn't be since their district manager is the same! read more

My letter to HD customer service: I went into my local store, on Dec 22, 2017, forgoing other alternatives because of an advertised "5 Day or less installation Guarantee" - I believe the sign says, Need it Fast? We can install or 5 days or less. I went in, selected my carpet and the associate, Jackie, was quite helpful and pointed out that my selection did not qualify for that offer, but directed me to the selection that did. I found an acceptable alternative and processed my order and scheduled my Home Depot required measurement. I was offered, and accepted, a measurement date of Dec 23- noting I would receive a call at 7AM and requested the first available time- I had plans to be out of town later that day. ISSUE 1: I first received my measurement call at 9:30, thus requiring me to cancel and reset for Dec 26th, with a time at 2PM. I confirmed a call confirmed my measurement between 2 and 4 that day. Then received a constant set of communications from the tech that he would be late,(Issue 2:) he eventually arrived at 6:30PM- Another missed window. As soon as I confirmed it was done, my window to pay was gone until the morning, so I called the national # to get the quote emailed to me and confirmed. I then called the local store in Gilroy to pay- which they took at approximately 8:30 in the AM on the Dec 27th. I called the Gilroy store the 27th and was given an install date of Jan 2. I called the Gilroy store on Dec 28th and was given an install date of Jan 2. A little background is now in order-- I am moving from Oregon to Gilroy and the installation address is EMPTY. My house is packed into a moving van on DEC 28 and my ENTIRE GOAL is to get the carpet installed PRIOR to the arrival of the household goods, thus eliminating the need to move a lot of stuff around. With 2 confirmations and the movers packing me up, asking for a delivery date, I commit to Jan 3. Then on Dec 28th in the afternoon, I get a call from JW Flooring, the contract installers, and am informed that my installation is the 3rd of January, I am told that is the 5th day and that is the best they can do. The Jan 2 commit date, which I had received twice, was a 'glitch in the system'. Time for a quick math check on the rules from the sign in the store-- "Carpet purchased before 2 PM can be installed on the 5th day according to a table +1 Day for a Holiday". We can debate the merits of excluding the weekend, esp. when JW is open on Saturday, but I will let that be for now: Dec 27 Paid at 8AM Day 1 Dec 28 Day 2 Dec 29 Day 3 Dec 30, 31, Jan 1 do not count - I do not agree in not counting the 30th for the record Jan 2 Day 4 Jan 3 Day 5 THE LAST DAY I should expect carpet delivery with furniture move. According to your own literature. FYI- at several different times this math was called into question and I had to repeatedly go back to the sign and the "2 PM Rule" and get everyone to count Dec 27, even JW tried to tell me the 4th within 5 days! While I am on the line with JW and informed of the 3rd, I believe I have no options with my movers, so I inform them there may be furniture to move- at which time my date is ISSUE #3:IMMEDIATELY pushed to JAN 4- my 5 day or less just became 6 days! I am informed by JW that I have to take it up with Home Depot. (Issue #4) Now a journey of calls, visits and run around begin with the local store. I go in and am told "there is nothing they can do" I have a manger type send an email, which goes unanswered, I go in to get status, manager type is gone. I call and get told there is nothing to be done. Still no offer of any relief from the Gilroy store- just "there is nothing I can do, you can take it up with JW" I even have to call to find out the process for when my install is scheduled on the 4th! This is CRAZY! As an aside: I dealt with your #1 competitor and as soon as I called with an issue they offered me10% off then got to the bottom of it and solved it! I finally got my automated install window call around 5PM Jan 3, it is for 8-10AM on the 4th. And in yet another in a string of insults, they arrive at 10:45 AM! (Issue # I lost count) Honestly I am leaving out the countless hours I spent on hold, having calls redirected, the number of times I was promised a call back with NO CALL, the whole process has been severely lacking from the customer perspective-- I did not feel very important in the process, quite the opposite. This entire ordeal has been just that, an ordeal-- I have never been through so much to hand over $5000! I feel TOTALLY abused by this process All I wanted was to get my new carpet, on the 5 day plan, installed while my house empty, get my household goods delivered and be in my house with new carpet comfortable and happy. Instead I got 2 solids weeks worth of stress and merry go round treatment by your organization. Just a joke! No more! Worst customer service ever! If I could give NO stars I would. read more

Recently I have had probably the worst consumer experience in my life thanks to the Home Depot in Gilroy, California. It was so particularly bad that I've decided to post my experience in several venues in order to warn people of Home Depot in general and the Gilroy one in Particular. Long story short, I bought a rather expensive new Samsung Refrigerator from them, but it was DOA. Home Depot did not help in any regards to rectify the situation. It would have been entirely easy for them to do an exchange on the unit, rather they opted to kick the can of responsibility down to Samsung because "we didn't buy the extended warranty", even though the fridge CAME TO US DEAD! Samsung itself was also incompetent in getting the situation resolved, but that does not absolve Home Depot for its terrible customer service. In the end I had to call my credit card company to dispute the charge because no one -- Home Depot nor Samsung, was getting the unit fixed or exchanged. After the dispute, Home Depot finally calls us back. Rather than apologizing for anything, they ask us if we'd like to exchange this unit with another identical one. Because of Samsung's incompetence I say hell no, I don't want another piece of junk Samsung. They can either provide us with a different Refrigerator, or refund us. At this point the manager HANGS UP on us. WTF?!?! We didn't hear back from Home Depot for a couple of weeks, so it was as if they simply wanted to lose money and their unit. However, I finally get a call from a Home Depot worker on Feb 16 asking when we would like to schedule a pickup of the broken unit. Funny how this is happening right around the deadline for the probation period of the chargeback. I start giving the Home Depot caller a piece of my mind and telling them what horrible service they're having, when I find out that the person calling me isn't even a manager -- he's the delivery/installation person for Home Depot. Home Depot did not even have the COMMON COURTESY of having a customer service agent call me for this pickup. I tell him to pass on my complaints to his boss, and I schedule a pickup for the coming Friday. We had this unit initially delivered on Dec 15 -- so that's two months without a working fridge, and two months that it took to resolve this issue. In between I've probably spent 6-8 hours total on the phone with customer service either talking with them, being on hold, or yelling and being frustrated with them. This is by far the worst service from a series of companies that I've ever experienced in my life -- starting first and foremost with Home Depot, and then Samsung Never in my life again will I ever shop at Home Depot and never will I buy another Samsung product, and I encourage all of you to avoid the Gilroy Home Depot and Samsung as well. I've been shopping here recently for items to build a table and every time I've been to the store in Gilroy it's impossible to actually get an employee to help with anything. If you ask one employee for help they tell you to go to someone else and then that person tells you to go to someone else. It's never ending. Then you'll see the same associates you ask for help chatting with the other associates like that's their job instead of helping customers. On top of that the shelves are never stocked. You can literally see the products you want to buy in the shelves up above but it's impossible to retrieve because employees are no where to be found or ignore you. I'm better off just using the ladder myself to retrieve what I need. By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced in any store I've been in my whole life. This place needs help. read more
