Like everyone else here. I dislike The Home Depot on Sam Houston Parkway in Chinatown. I tried really hard to avoid shopping here and drive as far as 20 miles away to buy something after I touched and felt the merchandise. Last week, I was just here to replace some decorative pots for my patio. Inventory on the app says 6. I went to Garden Center to get 3. Guess what? They have 6, but 4 of them are cracked in the rim. One was soiled and one has latex paint on it. So I drove to Northwest store to buy them. The return service desk was ridiculous. When I saw 6 people in line, I left to wait in my car. Because of social distancing, the line went out to the door. When I came back, one person was being helped, one person was busy on his phone completely ignoring my existence and last one having conversations with her coworker. She waved at me as she was ready to help me. But they kept talking as the other lady had mask on her chin. Thank goodness for the plastic fence. She had not spoken a single word to me, including thank you I almost thought this service should be replaced by outsourced call center agents via computer monitors. I saw they finally got online order locker. Since I had terrible time with online order at all Home Depot stores, I said don't bother. More bad experiences were after the start of Chick-fil-A appeared in the parking lot. Those day laborers crowding the entrance to cause cars backed up to the street. There was no way to drive into the parking lot while dodging from fast moving traffic on Beltway feeder road. There was no law enforcement or management around to stop them or move this activity to a different entrance. I understand someone has to eat and someone wants quick helper. But come on, move away from the entrance. read more

I went to Home Depot a few months ago and approached an employee standing around not doing anything but looking at his cell phone in his hand. I finally received his undivided attention. At least at the moment, what I believed was his undivided attention. I asked, what aisle do you all have the insulation? The employee responsed, "What are you going to use it for?" I explained to the employee, my intention is to apply the insulation in my vehicle. He said, Go to AutoZone. As a result, I walked away in the same manner the employee walked away, and discovered the exact insulation I was looking for, two aisles over from where the conversation took place. The employee appeared more interested in his cell phone than helping a customer. As I write this much needed review, Home Depot stock is trading at $368.44 a share. What embeciles would pay for a stock at this current time and place with people like this employed at Home Depot. The employee obviously has no companionship by taking up the time of a company looking at pictures of porn on his cell phone. This is what I discovered later after making a few calls, the employee had his undivided attention directed on. It's this just like stealing? And then, Home Depot has the audacity to place a robotic camera and voice surveillance system right outside the door to deter supposedly black people and other people from stealing. I visited The Home Depot because I was looking to change out the handles on my bedroom dresser set. It's not that easy to just pick out some new handles and screw them on, especially if the screws that come with the handles do not fit the dresser holes. Nope, you have to have screws that not only fit the new handles but the new handles screws have to fit thru the holes of the dresser. I originally picked out handles at Lowes but the screws would not fit the holes of the dresser set. Now I know it does not sound difficult BUT it is. I've been to Lowes twice with no luck so here I am at The Home Depot. I'll just purchase another set of handles, NOPE not today?! Here at the Home Depot, you can't just pick out hardware they have to be ordered. Cool no problem. YES, it is a problem when the ONLY person in the entire store that does the ordering is out for the Holidays. Does corporate know this? This is loss of revenue. I need 13 handles, do the math when a handle cost is $7 - $15. Ok New Covid Era, I'm not disgusted I'll adapt. read more

One star for a continual issue. The parking lot is filled with day-laborers. Today for example, a Thursday I counted over 70. If you drive a pick-up truck they bum-rush you when you pull into the parking lot. When you come out with large items they gather around wanting to load them or do whatever work if royals take to install what you bought. I do not allow my wife to come here because there was an incident one afternoon. Management does not care. The only response I got when I complained, again was to be told, "we have signs posted". The Sugarland store is devoid of this issue so it is a store choice as to allowing this in their property. read more

Lol the men here are freaking useless. Hopeless. I asked for some help to bring a mini fridge onto my flat bed cart. An Asian worker dude came, told us to pull out the box and to put it on the cart, and then walked away. What the heck? Alright. I went ahead and used my strength to pull out the mini fridge box and put it onto the cart. As I paid for the item, I asked those standing in the front if they could help me put it into my car. I confronted a Caucasian dude (he was just standing there & seemed like he had time to help), and what did he say? There's people standing outside that can help me put it into my car. I said okay. I went out to the front. I saw NO ONE to help me put it into my car. A nice friendly Hispanic Home Depot CUSTOMER came and helped me put it into my car. A customer. Not a worker. How sad is that. A customer behind me got frustrated & finally called for their attention and thats when they decided to help. I have never been so humiliated as I was when the delivery of my fridge was to happen. I was already stressed enough to make this happen including a water connection installation. When the delivery men arrived, they balked at the copper they saw and refused to connect. When I got upset about that a little bit. The main delivery man threatened to not deliver the fridge up to my apartment. In effect, he held my property which I paid for hostage, and after the fridge was finally brought up, he left a cord and no attaching the fridge to any water source though I paid for it. I will never order anything from not only this Hope Depot but from any Home Depot location anywhere and perhaps not even order from any place anything that requires any employees to deliver anything anywhere. It is not worth the humiliation of having my property held hostage and being told I had better not be the slightest bit upset or I won't get the property I paid for. That your company or any company hires such people is disgraceful! Your location deserves to be shut down, your company's assets audited, and the whole industry needs to be better regulated before I will trust anyone with any delivery ever again. read more

When I was at Home Depot I saw a sign saying they do installations. Given that I've always had success with whatever I need at Home Depot I figured this would be a great way to go to replace a patio door. I talked to an employee who put in an "order" for an install. I was called when they were going to come by. All seemed to be going well. Someone came measured the old door and left. No estimate no nothing. I was told I'd get a call in 48 hours. After a few days I try calling and no one is able to help and I'm told to go to the store in person. So I go to the store in person and the employee fills out a bunch of stuff on the computer and tells me that this could have been done on the phone. I pay for the materials and install. I should hear from someone in 24 hours or so to schedule. Days go by and nothing. I call multiple times and keep getting sent to other extensions or given other numbers to call. I get told to go to the store again! Then once again, transferred to someone else who says the employee entered the stuff wrong so they have to fix it before the installer can do anything. I should hear something by the end of the week. Why do I have a feeling I'll have to just call them again next week?!? read more

I am very disappointed in the customer service at this particular Home Depot. My brother-in-law who immigrated to America from Vietnam in late October 2014 tried to make a living to support his family so that they can live the American dream. He works on houses in the blazing heat, sometimes with no air conditioning, and shops at Home Depot a lot for the houses he work on. He even has a membership credit card at Home Depot. Unfortunately today around 12 noon to about 12:30 pm, he thought that a fellow Vietnamese middle-aged man who works at the Home Depot can help him since Home Depot hired this Vietnamese speaking employee (I would assume to assist Vietnamese speaking customers). When my brother-in-law asked him for help regarding a product he needs to buy at Home Depot, this Vietnamese employee at this Home Depot responds in a condescending tone, "You don't speak English why would you come to America??" (He stated that to my brother-in-law in Vietnamese, yet he could not help him in Vietnamese). I hope the manager or Home Depot reads this and reach out to me and hopefully can address the issue to the middle-aged Vietnamese man who works there that being condescending to someone who just came to America to work hard for his family does not deserve to be treated like that. Imagine how his son felt when he found out his hard working father was treated this way for no reason at all. P.S. I asked my brother-in-law for the name of the specific employee, but he did not want to give me the name because he was afraid the Home Depot employee might get fired which is not what he wants. Gosh, I don't ever write reviews for franchises but this Home Depot is so terrible. I get so irritated whenever I come here, especially in the gardening center. I understand that not everyone is knowledgeable about gardening or plants in general... But seriously, whenever I come here I ask pretty freaking simple questions and it never fails someone working in the gardening center has no freaking clue what I'm talking about. I came here before asking if they had any plant bulbs in season. Yes I know, not everyone may know certain plants don't grow from seeds... Yes some plants grow from bulbs. But please tell me why someone who was working in the gardening center asked me if I was talking about light bulbs. I wanted to stab myself in the eyes. Another instance of dealing with the people that work here; I came in and asked if they had any of those packaged water lilies because many other home depot locations have them. The guy stared at me like I was a crazy person and said "Water-what?" I calmly repeated myself, sure maybe he didn't hear what I said so I repeated the question. He proceeded to tell me "I don't know what water lilies are?" I was so irritated I just stopped him mid sentence and said "It's fine." and walked off. I'm sorry if I sound like a gardening snob, but how is it every time I come here someone from the gardening center has no clue of what I'm talking about. IT'S NOT LIKE I'M EVEN ASKING DIFFICULT QUESTIONS. It's not like I asked them "Oh what is the best potting substrate for a Dendrobium Jenkinsii" No. THESE ARE YES OR NO QUESTIONS ON WHAT THEY HAVE IN STOCK. What is Home Depot doing assigning people in the gardening center who tell me what aisle the light bulbs are inside when I asked for daffodil plant bulbs??? If you work in any gardening center you should at least know what a plant bulb is and what a water lily is, come on. Don't even expect any help, I even asked where the bags of potted soil is located and was followed up with the answer "Uh I dunno." Am I the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Do the associates who work here need lifelines to call????? I'm so confused. Just want to mention a really lazy worker here named Alan in Customer Service. I came in to get my Penske reservation and I approached him asking where I should go. After he rudely asked me 4-5 questions he told me to go to the customer service line where there was no one waiting. The black girl he was hugging up on and wasting time with had an attitude issue as well. With COVID going around I was a little taken back at how these two were hugging around. Then I was also thinking to myself there are so many people that would love the opportunity of a job right now and wouldn't be wasting time like these two were. What really pushed me over the edge to make a review on here was when I went to the "line" for customer service, Alan hops over to the customer service section bc he works in that section. All the other associates were busting their butts answering phone calls and helping customers and he just stood there doing nothing. He could have easily helped me being that he just sent me over to the customer service line. Literally it was 5 feet away from where he told me directions on where to go to get help. Wow... super frustrating. And as I've watched him for the past 20 minutes he just paces around not helping or working. I will definitely commend David in the customer service section that has the perfect attitude is hard working and a great asset to HD. We need more ppl like David instead of Alan!!! read more

I ordered some tiles from this Home Depot and they gave me the tiles that all have different colors some are darker and lighter than the other . I realize it right after the contractor installed them so I went to the store to complain they said it's not their fault . It's my fault and the contractor fault for purchasing and installed them . I have always had great experience at This store. But in particular an employee named Steve. I don't normally write reviews but he helped me out. And he made sure I got what I needed to remove cockroaches safely from my house. I was worried my baby might get into the traps as I have a toddler but he was patient an explained the best options plus he was funny. It made my day. Home Depot is no Lowe's, lemme tell ya. This place is across the street from my office so I decided I'd run in and get a key made. I am a faithful Lowes guy, but I figured if no one was looking I could sneak in and out of H.D. without a problem. Once inside, I decided to wander around a bit. This particular store seemed a bit unorganized and chaotic, not like Lowes. There was no one there to assist me with cutting my key, and over all it just wasn't a good shopping experience. Maybe I'm just partial to Lowes. But, I will say this, they had the first Quizzno's stand I've ever seen out in the parking lot. So, I bought a sandwich for lunch. Nothing wrong with that. read more

the home depot is a warehouse that sells parts and tools for practically every home improvement and project needs. some of the items at this location are unorganized and messy such as fittings and screws, leaving them priced incorrectly. it seems like often times the aisles are closed off and you have to wait to get what you came for, like cant you just do that after hours or when there arent customers shopping? sometimes the employees seem very unknowledgeable and untrained. such as givin you annoyed attitudes or never knowing where anything is. i just dont even bother asking them where stuff is anymore in fear that they will waste 10 minutes of my time bouncing me around their fellow incompetent peers just to leave me empty handed. its got the items you need, granted you know exactly what you need and how to find it. as for customer service, sometimes its hot, and sometimes its a steaming pile. its kinda like pulling the lever on the slots, you never know what youll get. read more

I placed and order for delivery, and when the Third Party delivery services the product was short. The drivers said " I dont work for Home Depot" I then called the store and they told me it would be taken care of. ON Monday, I called the store again and was told I wild need to pay another delivery fee to get the product I ordered and already paid a delivery fee for. Then Tiffany, the Manager got on the phone and assured me that the product will be delivered by a member of her staff. Five (5) minutes laster I receive a refund for what was shorted on my order. Ok here is my storied at this location for the guys who just install my garage opener richmond texas. I got an appointment with him to install the garage opener. After he did his damn job, i ask him to help me set up in my phone for set up the garage opener and he said just follow the instruction in the catalogue. That is unacceptable. Until now i cant set up by using my phone. I am calling home depot for complain. That guy need to learn how to treat to customer in the right way. Go back to take your customer service class. I have been a customer of Home Depot. I paid so much money interest to all purchases that I made since 2000.I decided to paid them all up last year.I started to establish credit again by installing new carpet in my two small rooms and stairways.Last April they did not do it at all.They made a promise that they will come and when they came these installers didn't want to do it because of our elevator chair for my disabled husband.Today Mov 6 they have to do it and they refused again for they can't go around the 4 screws of the elevator chair.The installer took a picture of my 2 rooms claiming they can't do it because of the bed. I did not sleep at all last night for I moved my stuff and cleaning the room.The lady on the phone said to call them back if everything is move out.It was in the contract that they will move the bed .I paid 2 times to measure the carpet and took note that I have an elevator chair to inform the staller.He said they can go around on those 4 screes and the y can finish it without a hassle. My experience there yesterday was pretty mediocre. I had to ask several staff members about some items I had found on their app & it said that they had 50 in stock. They kept passing me off to other employees to help me find it. I almost gave up and asked one more guy to help me. He finally knew the answer. I had to order it online and then they'd go and get it in some unknown area of the store. Very tempted to go elsewhere after that. Train your employees HDX! read more

Absolutely the worst Home Depot I've ever been to. Inventory on shelves is a wreck and all disorganized and in the wrong boxes for the PVC pipe fittings. I asked an associate for assistance and he went and paid someone overhead and 10 minutes later still no one showed up. Went n there with a major roof problem & Nathan was the most helpful employee I've ever met! He walked me to find everything I needed to fix my roof leak. Anything he was unsure of, he researched until we found a workable solution. He quickly answered other customers' questions but never left me hanging long. This is about a terrible mess: different people talked different things and nobody cared, then finally no show after so many calls back and forth. Before yesterday, on Sept. 29, 2016, at about 7:00 P.M. my sister and I came into this store on Sam Houston Parkway for a water heater installation inquiry and estimate. Then we were told in order to do so, they needed to send their contracted service man to our home the day after to proceed it. Before coming, I would hear from the service man. And the in-store lady specialist who told us so repeated that the guy would come the day after, on Sept 30, 2016, which was yesterday for sure and the job could be done on the same day, which means yesterday too as the store claimed "Same Day Installation" as showed on the boxes of the heaters. Please note that both of us and the lady specialist understood each other very well because we discussed everything in our Vietnamese mother tongue of which we are very fluent as we and the lady are all Vietnamese. Then yesterday, Sept. 30, 2016, the mess began when at about 5:00 P.M. I started to call the store to find out about the no-show as until that time nobody showed at our home and nobody bothered to give us a damn call to let us know what was going on. In the beginning, when I called in, I was so surprised as I was told the order was canceled. Hearing it, I was shocked. Consequently, I had to ask them who made the cancellation because i was very sure that my sister and I did not do it. So they put me on hold so they could go check then let me know. As they put me on hold for too long, I hung up then called back momentarily. Until the third time or so I called back and forth in, they said they still could not find that out. Then finally they give me an 800 number to call as they admitted that they did not know what was going on. I went ahead to call that 800 number and talked with a lady who seemed to know about my case. She asked for my phone number and told me she would call me back shortly after she could find out what happened. After more than half an hour, and that was not short at all, of course, I had not heard from the lady, so I called back the 800 number and was replied that nobody knew about it. Then an 888 number was finally given to me to call to find out. Then I did call the 888 number and was told that my appointment is today, Sept 31, 2016, from between 10 A.M. to 2 P.M.; and nobody knew or cared about the yesterday one as first scheduled by the Vietnamese lady . The guy who answered me said he had absolutely no ideas about the scheduling of the appointment yesterday. Thinking that he couldn't help, I told him I went to the store to make a complaint as up to then no way I could stand the mess, especially when I had to wait for the whole day for nothing. At the store, first I met a customer service clerk. I told him I liked to make a complaint about the no show and about the change of the appointment time and date from nowhere without letting me know until I asked. He said nobody handled it. So I asked to see the manager because I still wanted to register a complaint anyway. Briefly, after meeting with the man right there at the customer service front desk, whom the clerk told me that was the manager, I told him that why they had me wait for the whole day for nothing; at the same time, there were so many things and/or so many people who told me so many different things about just one single thing, and actually nobody cared about or could solve it at all: the Vietnamese specialist who took our order, the people at the store and the people at the 800 and 888 numbers told me when they answered me over the phone. Each of them told me a different story. The Vietnamese lady said the appointment was yesterday, the store said the order was canceled which we did not, the one at the 888 number said the appointment is today, Sept. 31, 2016, from between 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. and knew nothing about the scheduling of yesterday appointment... And unfortunately, the crux of the story so far, which was the yesterday appointment, they could not tell. Then after a short discussion with the manager, I had the feeling that he could not work this out and even I was not sure whether he really wanted to take my complaint or not, I told him that as I could not stand this mess anymore, I would write a complaint online. He told me to go ahead do it and thanked me in a very unwelcome and careless attitude as if he seemed so joyful getting rid of me. That's not the end of the mess. Today, the service man did not show after several delays and reschedules. First they moved from between (10 A.M. to 2 P.M) to (10 A.M. to 3 P.M.); then to another hour, then to another time... I had to call them back and for several times. The last time I called, they guaranteed they would come but could not tell me when. I received 5 roofing bids. HD bid $14,000+ less Disc $1700. They completed in 2 days. Everything was going well until a week and a half passed I rec'd frantic call from the salesman that he was notified from Construction Dept that more roofing materials were needed and 3 morre squares were used. He could not tell me the breakdown costs. Then I received an invoice with just a figure on it with no explanation or itemization. I e:mailed him that no one would sign a blank invoice. He then re-did the invoice stating what it was for, but still no itemizing. I also purchased gutters. He did not tell me and my husband that the two contracts were separate and I would not be able to add the balance of $1900 to the project loan (after sending a down pmt of $4K for both). I was notified that I could not add the $1900 for gutters to the project loan. I was informed that it was not like a home equity loan! (should have done that) So to try to make this shorter, I was told it was going to be another $1300 plus $1900 for gutters that I had to come up with. I think this is pretty underhanded. I realized that in order to win the Bid they came in lower then after the fact try to add more charges on the back side. Any advice out there! I want to add that I called the manager and have yet to receive a call! Way to go HD! I asked the salesman "How could you be off that much?" His reply was "There must have been trees in the aerial photo and thats why i missfigured the materials." The list goes on and on!!!
