Home D. has something you must really need whether you like it or not. Despite the low rating, whether it's the few staff around or not receiving major appliances within the time frame they promised- we didn't encounter anything like that at this Kingston location. This has been one of our go-to home improvement stores for anything from shrubs, light bulbs, cleaning supplies and other things. Our most experience here was perfect. Now mind you, we'd gotten here like 1/2 hour before closing to get 4 gallons of black exterior paint so our contractors can paint our 7 panel wood slat fence. We knew we wanted a basic black so it's not like we struggled. We selected a high-quality brand that could tolerate the elements then selected a swatch so the paint mixer can take it from there. Service was awesome and we'd gotten the 4 gallons at a decent price using hubs' Military discount. The paint mixer was extremely pleasant and eager to please. read more

This store is great until you have to go to the bathroom. The men's bathroom is absoutely disgusting. No paper towels to dry you hands only an air dryer next to a black goo covered tile wall of nastiness. Smells like fresh pee and excrement. The floor is sticky and the urinal stall walls are a biohazard. read more

This Home Depot is an appalling example of a store. We were talked into buying an LG washer/dryer combo, assured that if there were any problems we could return it, and sent on our way. We spent full retail, nearly $3,000 including installation. Well, the machine was poorly designed and DID NOT DRY clothes. Home Depot wouldn't take care of us. Neither would the useless insurance we were sold. Neither would LG. It was a nightmare. We now use it as a washing machine only, which we could have gotten for $600. We had to buy a new dryer from Lowes. I will never set foot in Home Depot again. Crooks! PS: After everything we've been through with this, I am pretty much certain that Home Depot's comment on this review is a LIE. We called, showed up, escalated every way possible, and were not helped. I filled out the form, and I expect them to do absolutely nothing for us. UPDATE: I took the time to fill out their form, and I heard back from "Social Email" at Home Depot. Absolutely DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES FROM HD. We purchased $5000 worth of appliances to be delivered a week later. Delivery never arrived. I called multiple times, to find out several hours after the scheduled delivery that the "truck broke down". They rescheduled for a week later (why didn't they rent a truck to deliver or get another truck). They did not give a 4 hour window as stated they would. They show up a week later with only part of my order. They removed my old refrigerator and delivered the other appliances before telling me they do not have my new one. Now, all my food is on the counter, and I have nowhere to go. I called HD and they "can't do anything", but said the refrigerator will be delivered tomorrow. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I bought led lights from here.... First, I opened the box and the bag was BROKEN INTO. Next, they don't stick to my wall, then. I finally put them up, and they stay up for 1 day... fall off, put them back up and they stop working. Also when I go there, I never hear, "can I help you find anything?" I moved up to Kingston a few months ago. Home Depot Kingston reminds me of what this chain was like when they first started. The service and friendliness has been very consistent as well as their knowledgeable crew. I have to give an extra shoutout to John in the paint department who is exactly the kind of guy you hope to help you when you know as little about painting as I do. He went out of his way each and every time to assist with product selection and proper application. As a result of these great experiences, I decided to use them for my new kitchen, and Donna in that department seems like one more great find! Thanks Steve now a HD loyalist. read more

I was made to feel like less than human by the associate who was running the saw. For some reason the Home Depot in Poughkeepsie had no problems cutting my board the way I wanted it into 16 inch pieces and then 4 8 inch pieces. However this guy, running the saw in Kingston, told me that he can't cut anything lower than 12 in, and he didn't care what they did in Poughkeepsie, he's not doing it for me. I tried to explain to him that I have the tools at home, but I am disabled, but he didn't want to hear it. He just said no. I almost walked out. I went to the service desk and ask to speak to a store manager, after almost a half an hour standing at the service desk I finally got to talk to an assistant manager. I told him of my situation and not only did he offer to make the cuts for me, he also offered me a chair because I told him I was close to Falling Down. I hate being sick and I hate when it affects my life. But that is neither here nor there. I think I may have to go out of my way from now on when I want to go to Home Depot and go to the Poughkeepsie store only because most of the employees treat you better there, then they do in the Kingston store. It's such a shame because I'm only 20 minutes from the Kingston store and 45 minutes from the Poughkeepsie store. If anybody from Home Depot corporate reads my post, which I doubt they ever will but, the assistant manager's name was Jerame, and he went out of his way to make me happy. However as good of a job as he did, it doesn't make up for the lack of caring and consideration by the associate at the saw. Or the other associate who didn't realize I was leaning against my cart, and pushed it out of her way, and I almost fell on my ass. read more

Ordered closet doors to be installed. I was told they had to be a special order. Someone came to my home and measured. Paid 1500.00 dollars in Oct 2022. Doors came on just before Thanksgiving. When installer arrived with doors he told me they were the wrong size and had to be reordered. Ok now its 3 months later. Installer calls Feb 2 says he will be there Feb 8th am. NEVER showed up. Dealing with Home Depot has been the worst experience ever. In terms of trying to get through to the store...impossible. Communication is non-existent. I placed an order which was delivered damaged to the store 10 days ago and I was never informed of this. Nor did Home Depot contact the sender/manufacturer. The damaged product just sat somewhere. Yet Home Depot was paid in full. No phone call to the purchaser (me) and no email. I was the one who had to investigate and trace it. Thank you for sending me on a wild goose-chase people at the paint department today. When I came in to purchase a rolling dolly for my new mini-refrigerator, I came in and had no clue where I'd find these. I don't generally come to Home Depot often, but when Lowes pushed me aside (and told me to wait outside "just for the heck of it"), I knew I needed something and I'd check at your store instead. Now, I wish I didn't. The store experience was okay other than the fact that the explanation was convoluted (having them not mention that rolling dollies are kept outside in the greenhouse) and hearing in the garden area at the major back (with them pointing to the general location), I knew something was going wrong. I circled the area known as said "back", but could find no rolling dollies, nor could I find (for the longest time) any Home Depot employee - until much later. When an employee did come to check on questions from customers, an employee found me as I slipped in a question to get the ball rolling. He explained the position, but despite this employee's pointed explanation of "upfront", he slipped in a shortcut (which I thank him quite a bit for) and even helped answer the questions I was having whether it would fit my product. I asked him whether it would fit my mini-refrig (which I later found out it didn't), and although he mentioned there could be some overhang (something I was trying to overlook), I hoped for the best and proceeded up to the registers. I was glad to see this place had self-checkouts. However, I don't think very many customers nor employees realize that there needs to be separate lines for self-checkouts as contrasted to regular aisles. After waiting in line with my product for what seemed like fifteen minutes, I was cut-off by another couple waiting on the alternate checkout line. But when I was finally asked how I was paying (some of the registers are only taking cards), I told the employee who waved me into the register. I had to wand-scan the item in my cart - it would've been too big to pass under the scanner-bed, and had too much plastic around it. That posed a problem. Even though the register was ready to ring up the next purchase, when I ended up wand-scanning it, the computer wasn't ready to wand scan it, getting the laser beam to "begin" didn't happen until the employee-helper came to check on the problem. I proceeded through the register with little problems otherwise. But when I got home with my purchase and tried to install it, like said, it wouldn't fit the area. I was trying to bring my mini-refrigerator off the carpeted floor and hadn't had much to fix it with - so I thought about the dolly idea and how wrong I was. I'll use this idea for a bit - but it'll become a hassle after a while - I'll end up putting this dolly in storage and bringing the area back to it's former self. There's a front "beam" in front of the refrig which makes opening the doors seem impossible - unless I bring the refrigerator to the edge, to which the refrigerator feels like it's going to come off - something i hadn't expected to happen. I can't obviously bring it back for my refund - stores nowadays in coronavirus times aren't allowing returns - even in coronavirus-free homes! However, soon, I'll find some cardboard and see how that helps the situation. read more

I was looking to purchase three separate air conditioners and knew I needed a large shopping platform cart, but didn't see one. I happened to ask Will Mayo (at the Kingston New York location) if he knew where there were some and he offered to help me get one out in the parking lot. As he was getting that I explained to him that I was looking for air conditioners and he brought me right to where they were located in the store and lifted two 10,000 BTU units and one 6000 BTU unit on my cart and brought me to a checkout area. He couldn't have been any sweeter. Since he was back on a register, he also got someone to help me load them in my car as well! Great service! Thank you! read more

Such a complete disappointment. I will go out of my way and pay more to support local service providers who appreciate one's business and can complete a job effectively. This location is decent. As most large box stores they get horrible reviews but seeing 50 bad reviews to the thousand who shop here is not terrible. I personally have never had issue bathroom is always clean staff are always helpful with guiding me to the right isle and they always price match etc. I'd prefer them to the building supply down the street read more

Worst customer service. We had cancelled installation for flooring. Instead of refunding the full installation amount of $1138.13, we were refunded only $507. WITHOUT BEING GIVEN ANY EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THEY kept the remaining amount!! Person in charge Nina refuses till date to call us to clarify or explain their reasoning. We were completely ignored & dismissed. We will never give business to the Kingston Home Depot. No one person had the backbone or courtesy to return our calls or reply to our messages! Awful experience all around. No one wearing masks or respecting the risk of transmission, and the staff could not have cared less about it. The customer service was simply terrible. The first person I asked barely mustered a grumble at me while simultaneously maintaining an aggressive scowl, after I asked if he was the right person to talk to about where to find something. He then said no he was not, but yet continued to speak aggressively to me about the "possible places" (mind you, Home Depot has hundreds if not thousands of separate pieces of equipment and tools in the section I was looking for) with such a rude and dismissive attitude, acting as though I had just threatened him at gunpoint, that I just walked off in bewilderment rather than get into an argument. When I was FINALLY able to get someone to help me, he was rude, unhelpful and told me there was nothing he could do EVEN though I had a high quality picture on my phone of the drill bit I needed; and I quote "That does absolutely nothing to help me". The straw that broke the camels back, is I called my brother who I was picking it up for, and he found it on the website in stock, IN STORE, in the exact location I was in. Unbelievably unpleasant experience, I will never again be patronizing Home Depot, and would highly advise you save yourself borderline confrontation and profound indifference for your shopping experience, and take your money (and apparently safety, for that matter) elsewhere read more

I am so bummed at my recent visit to Home Depot in Kingston, NY. I think I just became a permanent Lowe's customer. I arrived on a Sunday in the middle of Labor Day; arguably one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. THEY advertised big sales--but CLEARLY didn't staff up to cover the customers that arrived. There was no one in Windows & Doors when I arrived needing some help with an off-sized window replacement. After taking 5 min to find an associate, he said "yeah yeah I'll call someone" and walked off. After 10 more min I stopped a second associate, who said he'd call to have someone report to Windows for me. There was no announcement, and no one showed. After 25 min of sorting thru windows on my own and no one in the section, I asked yet a third employee if I 1. needed to go to Lowe's to get customer service and 2. is there anyone working here? He apologized and got on the loudspeaker pleading for someone to show up in Windows/Doors. After 10 more min of no one arriving, I stormed out, leaving a cart full of other purchases I decided to not attain from HD. See y'all at Lowes or Target. read more

I am in a kitchen Reno that.was supposed to be completed in February. It is now April. There was a design error which happens. What transpired after is why the rating. Cabinets had to be picked up. Given dates they ere coming never came. They don't call to confirm. I waited and no one came. Never told when or how long it would take for the three new cabinets to come. When I called customer cares Latonya said they didn't need to call me with timing and I only lost a day waiting for the truck. Store manager is never there or non existent. Assistant manager is new and has no follow through, promises to call and doesn't. Now I am trying to get the refund and blamed IT and even tried to blame me. We have no kitchen and Home Depot doesn't care. Plenty of other places to go. No longer a Home Depot Customer. read more

Great to place and order, but don't plan on getting a confirmation on the delivery!!! I ordered windows to be delivered to a location without cell service. After being promised that they would call back to tell me either morning or afternoon delivery, i spent another 3 days and countless hours trying to get someone to pick up the phone. Terrible service. Waited 20 mins for help in flooring. No one was working in that dept. Calls on the loud speaker were made but noone responded. I requested a manager who when spoken too, Peter, was dismissive, rude, and unhelpful. He told me that if I had ordered the product online I wouldn't have this problem and I could just come in and pick it up. He did not find a flooring employee that could help me nor did he help me in anyway. After looking at Home Depot's website the flooring that I wanted to purchase cannot be ordered online and Home Depots main website instructs customers to go to the local store and speak with a flooring representative in the flooring Department. I have purchased this flooring there before and it was not a simple task the last time due to a general lack of customer service. I will be taking my business elsewhere as often as able. I have been in the middle of renovating my house for the last 2 years and it is apparent that Home Depot does not wish to have my patronage. We have a Lowe's nearby. read more
