I have an improved attitude towards Home Depot. For a long time I refused to shop here due to a bad experience. But lately I've returned as I feel that the selection for some things is better than Menards or Lowes. Because Menards is close to home, I still go there more often. But I've been choosing Home Depot over Lowes. The staff at HD are very friendly and engaging, ready to help. I can't find anyone to ask at Lowe's, only a little better at Menards. I bought the stain and supplies for my new deck and pergola, and am very happy with the results. I like the selection of Milwaukee cordless tools. It is the only place to go to get a custom cabinet/countertop project done. read more

We were in Home Depot tonight after first going to Menards as they are close to where we live. My husband is a double amputee and Menards only has two electric carts and neither one was working. SO we went to Home Depot and they had 6 carts are charged up and ready to go!! We were looking for a couple of things and the Assistant Manager Dan was SO helpful. He was all over the store with us with suggestions and ideas to make our project easier and even helped us out to the car and brought the electric cart back in for us!! This is the only hardware store we shop at in Lafayette. The staff is always courteous and helps us find our items. With the pandemic, I have been impressed with their mask policy and that all staff are wearing masks. I'm high risk and it makes me feel more safe shopping here. Do not order online from Homedepot and definitely do not order something on line and have it delivered to your house. I took 1 day off to sign for a delivery that homedepot said it was to be delivered on yestetday... wrong wasted that day So i took today off because again need to sign for it they still have not shown up or even called. HORRIBLE customer service. Incompetent and unavailable general manager. Zero follow up. Cannot answer or return calls, doesn't respond to messages. Poorly trained, uncaring, and incompetent management. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate for a yard fence. On the day, nobody called or showed up. I called Home Depot and spoke with an employee at the 'service desk'. Totally unhelpful and annoyed to have to deal with me. Said they did not deal with contract companies, they only set appointments and after that they were not involved. I called the fence company after confirming the name and info for the sub-contractor. Was told by the office they were 'on the way but running late'. Hours later, no call, no show. Called the fence company again. No answer - left message. As of this day, I have still NEVER HEARD ANYTHING. I called the store, asked for "THE manager" - he was not available. I left my name and number and issue. No call back. Next time I was in the store, I asked for the manager. He was there but in a meeting. I left my name and number. No response. I called again later in the week. Manager was not in. I left my name & number and detailed message. No call back. I got frustrated with this total and complete incompetence and disregard for his managerial DUTIES and I called the main Home Depot number, left detailed information. No response. I contacted another Home Depot asking for a District or Regional manager. I was told they were not allowed to give out that information. I left my name, number, and detailed information on the problems. No response. I once again left my name and number in the store with a supervisor. No Response. I have also bought a patio table and chairs set and had problems with assembly and delivery. I have needed help with a simple question about a light switch, waited over 15 minutes for someone to answer my question to make sure I was buying the correct item. Nothing. Finally an electrician that was shopping there gave me a 15 second answer and I was on my way. No help from the manager, no help from corporate, no help from an area/district manager. If you every have a problem, you will never get it fixed. Trying to do business here is a waste of your time and money. Again, poorly trained and incompetent morons - including the spineless general manager. Avoid this useless store at all costs. read more

Customer service is seriously lacking. Especially at the "customer service" desk. One or two employees are personable and helpful but they likely carry the brunt of the workload. The rest need further training and people skills. We recommend you go to Lowe's, Menards, or Ace instead. read more

Dear Mr. Menear, I purchased two major appliances from your Lafayette Indiana store we weeks ago. They were delivered and installed. Used the dryer 2 times and smelled a burning smell, and it stopped working. Had a replacement dryer delivered, used it a few times, and it stopped working. I was directed to go through GE, I did and they sent out a tech 1 week later, diagnosis, the motor burned out. I called your 1-800 line, was sent back to GE- they will have everything reviewed via a board review, then sent back to your store in Lafayette- spoke with Beth, Store Director. She was very nice, but told me she'd be happy to give me my money back ( obviously after 2 non-working dryers I don't trust GE)- BUT, here is the kicker, I'm told that they are a small store, and they don't have a truck- thus, if I want my money back, I'd have to figure out a way to get it to the store??? What??? I have it delivered and now I have to drag a 200 lb. appliance back to the store? Here's is the bottom line, I trusted the Home Depot, which is why I spent my money with you, but now I am on my own, no working dryer, and waiting to hear back from some representative from GE. I think you need to reexamine your process, because it doesn't seem fair, you have my money, and I have a broken dryer! I know everyone says this....but after experiencing this cluster of alleged customer service, I will never be able to allow myself to shop at the Home Depot. I am so incredibly disappointed at the dishonesty and outright deception I just encountered from Home Depot. My wife and I received your flyer advertising $35 delivery on orders, which is perfect for us! I have a bad back to both load and unload 30 bags of much, but the real kicker is that we don't have a vehicle suitable for hauling bags of mulch. So $35 is a fantastic and a price we are absolutely willing to pay. So we go to HomeDepot.com to order. We get there, feed in our zipcode, build our order, and it says $127 when we start to check out. No problem. BUT then we go pay and suddenly $127 magically becomes $171 with no explanation. Thinking this is a mistake. To try and get the price to what it should be, we start rebuilding the order repeatedly. We remove items, we change delivery dates, and try this in different iterations, and every time it says that it's $127, but then magically changes to $171. At last, frustrated, we use the chat and are told that special hidden fees get applied by the store at the point of payment. There is no exploitation for this, no hint of this in the flyers, no nothing. Just Home Depot decides to slap on an extra $44 because why not? I could stomach this if it were made clear that there would be this additional fee, because then we would not have gone and purchased a Home Depot gift card to pay for the $127. But, because you hide these fees to trick people with a bait and switch, we are now STUCK because you tricked us. That is just deceptive and vile of you. I am so incredibly disappointed and disgusted by your company practices that sucker people in and then slap them with hidden fees. Way to be like Comcast. read more

They must have hired the kids that used to work at the mall to work at this store. I needed 12 solar post lights and there was only one one on the shelf so I asked the kid working and he said there was 50 in their inventory but he didn't know where they were. So I went up to customer service and after the kids were done with social time they asked me what I wanted. After I told her she said there are 50 in isle 21 I said there isn't any there so she said " well I don't know what to tell you then". Wow what kind of customer service is that ? read more

Ordered a washer dryer stack unit. Delivery was fine until the driver calls after they leave to tell my wife they ran over 5 yards worth of mulch and spread it all over the road when they left. I called the 311 Sagamore Pkwy location for them to send someone out to shovel it back into a pile. They claimed XPO was liable and they weren't able to send a grunt to make it right. Never buying another single piece of merchandise from them again. Now I need to rent a truck to return the washer/dryer....or I'll schedule for service and never be there. I really hate how corporate stores never try to make things right. I will constantly run their name through the mud. read more

Horrible online experience. The store was wonderful and tried to help us but the online store is HORRIBLE. Something to know... you can return items with a Home Depot credit card for 365 days, but for any other payment type, you have only 90 days. What about the 'payment form' changes the policy? This is just wrong. If you are unwilling to ethically return items, regardless of payment type, PLEASE put that on the top of your webpage instead of having users arrow down. "Return it fast and easy", "Online returns whenever wherever you want" is presented to shoppers, you actually have to hunt to find that it is in fact only 90 days. Please present this information in an ethical format- upfront! Also, if the store can issue store credit after 90 days, why can homedepot.com not do the same? Again, the discrepancies are simply ridiculous. read more

I was recently in the store purchasing 3 appliances. I brought the family which contains 2yr old twins and 2 older children. While nearly completing the process for check out an employee told my wife if she could control our kids because they were distracting other customers to much. I recently purchased a side by side refrigerator at Home Depot in Lafayette,IN which was delivered with a small dent. I overlooked the dent even though it was on the door but when the refrigerator was plugged in I noticed how loud it was. The delivery team said this would decrease. It did not. In fact, new sounds have developed. In contacting Home Depot I was told I should have refused delivery. There was little concern for my satisfaction. I can only compare this with a situation I encountered with Lowes with an appliance and how they did whatever was necessary to see I was satisfied. I wish I'd stuck with a place I knew was good. I love this store there are lots of employees who are usually very helpful! They also offer lots of work shops including one for children once a month - and it's FREE! The kids love it they get a cool orange apron like the workers and get to build a fun craft AND get a pin to put on their aprons! Seriously so fun - what a GREAT PROGRAM and store! Avoid @HomeDepot! They made it abundantly clear to us that our time and effort didn't have any value after they accepted an order for flooring that they no longer carried. However they still charged our CC the $1850.00 then waited over a week to inform us we wouldn't be getting our product. This was after time off from work had been taken and floor prep had begun. Worst customer service ever. The sales associate were very rude and condescending, Management ignores any concerns or complaints. They filter and reject negative product review. Which is kind of misleading at best. Their prices seems to be higher then the local competition. read more
