Story time. Earlier in the year, we made the observation that our aging doors were not sealing as well as they should. We had tried a few simple home solutions, weather stripping and adjustments to the hinges. We had some slight improvement, but it became clear the doors were in need of service. We had received recommendations to contact home depot and request an evaluation. The estimator cost forty dollars. He came out and they've provided us with useful information about our home. He left us feeling pretty good, even went so far as to offer that they could rehang the same size doors in the space, and that it might be of interest to save our trim because it was obviously high quality and expensive. Enter "Luna." Luna is the upsell agent that works inside home depot for the ordering and installation process. She called while we were on the road. We weren't able to have a complete conversation, but what she did impart was that the doors would need to be custom ordered. This created some confusion. Over the series of the next six emails, I asked, why. Each time the answer I got back was "trust me bro." Finally, I stated that the estimator had clearly given us different information and asked for the measurements. The terse reply I received was that the measurements are for in store use only. And would not be shared. Literally "trust me bro." So I'm out $40 for a bogus estimate that I didn't actually receive. I've taken time out of my busy schedule to allow someone into my home with the promise to do work for me. And i've received nothing. I can see why home depot has a two star rating from this location. Fortunately there is a Lowe's nearby. And I can always file for fraud protection on my card. I will also contact the better business bureau and the state of michigan to report that I was denied an estimate in writing for work. read more

I went there to get my sample paint corrected because they completely botched up the color and they would not fix it for me. I don't regularly write reviews and my visit to The Home Depot was in early May, but because the service industry is so wishy washy as of late there has been two women and their customer service that's been heavy on my mind. I really want to shout out Keena and Barb at the Livonia Michigan location. They gave me exceptional customer service! They showed no attitude and a lot of patience, even though my ordering process took a long time and they helped with smiles on their faces. They even went beyond what I expected by calling the delivery service so that roofing supplies would arrive on time for my project. They are true examples of what great customer service should be! Went here for dirt and sand, I always grab the ripped bags if any for a discount. I have been doing this for years. yesterday I got 1.49 off a bag of soil. Today I went for sand... yep 2 ripped bags. The new cashier (Mrs. Minnie) accused me of ripping the bags??? I was so angry, so she went to another woman that knew about the discount and got more info. After accusing me of ripping the bags she only wanted to give me 29 cents off ... this woman should be fired on the spot accusing a customer like that. Received some excellent assistance from a very knowledgeable young man during my recent purchase. I needed some help deciding upon what brand of cordless drill I should pursue and must of looked confused because this guy swooped in and totally helped me justify buying a Ryobi driver. I learned a lot and greatly appreciated his desire to help me choose the correct tool for my application. I don't really know if he worked for Homedepot or Ryobi, but he never put any sales pressure on me and I GREATLY appreciated it. In the past I had avoided Ryobi because I want to buy American. I did not realize Milwaukee and Ryobi are from the same US company. Needless to say the Ryobi best fits my application in this instance. read more

This was a very nice store 5 years ago. Now you have a crowded congested tight space where merchandise is packed and stuffed. There's no one around to help you and they shut all the cashier's lines down and rude customers are jumping in front of people or making their own lines. Every time I'm here I'm moving a ladder out my way...or dealing with an inconsiderate frustrated customer. Seems like they are more into profits rather than customer satisfaction. Last week was my last time coming to this store...things are getting out of hand and they need security guards to direct traffic. read more

Home Depot is Home Depot. I went early on a Tuesday morning. There was plenty of staff working throughout the store. I asked one associate if they carried a specific item and was informed that she did not know, followed by where it MIGHT be. I decided to ask one more person who politely helped me (i was literally standing to the right of what I was looking for). Fast forward; I asked another associate where to find another item and she took the time to walk there just to make sure it was really in isle 4. I had a bad experience at this Home Depot and will not be going back. Purchased pavement repair compound . Since I was in the area I stopped at Menards. I found a product that would work better for me at Menards . I immediately drove back to Home Depot and began to return it with an associate. I presented her with the receipt thinking it wound be a simple return. The associate opened the unopened box , opened the plastic that contained the compound and inspected it. My issue , why the need ? I had clearly just made the purchase, the box had not been open ! I had watched her go thru several returns and never scrutinized it like she had mine. I am African American. Just felt this was the reason my return was treated differently from the many others before me . I will take my business elsewhere. PS - when I asked her why the need for the inspection she said they had had people attempt to return used products . Again , I had purchased 20 minutes earlier! read more

I'm reviewing the painting department which isn't bad for a warehouse type of store. I had a good experience -- I mean don't get me wrong, it's really busy in there due to the fact most items are larger/bulk. But if you needed helped, someone is always willing to try to assist you if they are able to -- you'll just have to find them. I had one lady helping 3 people at once which included me -- I can say that they aren't the greatest but they are trying to be and they are going in the right direction. Also when it was time to cash-out; there's wasn't a long line and the cashier was very nice (he greeted and smiled!) ***Please BEWARE the parking lot. There's a lot of shopping carts, so parking far isn't that bad if you don't want the wind to blow a cart into your vehicle. read more

Horrible location. Never any help around. Went in on Sunday following Thanksgiving to pick up a new snowblower. Checked stock online prior to leaving house. Online said 5 in stock. I live 5 minutes from store. Got to store to find they had 0 in stock. This is after a 30+ minute wait to have an incompetent staff member look for item. Store was great when first opened over a decade ago. Has gone downhill terribly ever since. I left store and purchased same item same price from a local independent hardware store. I am 99% sure I will never shop this location again. read more

This is my last time using Home Depot. I've made three large item purchases from them and every single time I've had issues with pick up or delivery. This time, I ordered a tub and surround online, not something I can easily fit into my car and I paid for delivery. I was told to expect it on Friday when I ordered it on Wednesday. The delivery window is 9 AM - 8 PM. With a note that they'll call 30 minutes before delivery. Despite needing to run multiple errands, I waited until 5 and then called, they rescheduled my delivery until Saturday. But couldn't be bothered to call and tell me. I asked them to narrow down the time since someone was coming to install the tub and surround and was told to call at 7 AM to get a better time frame. I called and was told they truck was too packed and they couldn't deliver today. Now the manager is trying to find someone that works in the store to deliver the tub and surround since the 3rd party vendor they use is horrible. The constant miscommunication, the failure to follow through on promises and the difficulty getting to a person all make this a no from now on. read more

Disclosure: I think Home Depot is an abhorrent company, so it's unlikely that I could ever give more than two stars. This Home Depot is not much different from the average. They never have staff to help you. Inventory is actually ok, and I've actually had a good experience or two getting some odds and ends of price corrections and discount issues fixed here. So, that's plus that one star. Better luck with this than with Lowe's in my experience. Garden center is expansive and way better than my local one. I subtract additional stars for this being located in a strip mall within a strip mall called Livonia, an RTA opt-out community, and because I'm utterly petty like that. read more

Got our money back but when we ordered landscaping bricks from them, the night before they were to be delivered (which I took the day off of work to work on it) they called to tell us that we wouldn't get delivery on time because they mixed up our order. Once again got our money back and will never use them again also tell my story to others to get people to change to Lowes or Menards Also finding someone to assist you is like pulling teeth. I'm a contractor who spends a considerable amount of money annually on building materials and I will never shop at a Home Depot again. I asked 4 different associates where to find some 4x8 melamine sheets today and was told by all 4 of them a variety of "it's not my department I don't know" The first person I asked for help I said "Excuse me sir..." Before I could finish asking for what I needed I was met with: "This isn't my department what are you about to ask me for" I try to stay respectful of people who want to express their discontent with their own life by being rude to others but if you can't find anything for customers other than what department you've been assigned then you should probably get back to your department and stop hanging out in areas of the store where you're obviously worthless I asked the last person I talked to to call the actual lumber associate because obviously he's the only one who can help me and I was told "he didn't answer I don't know what to tell you" so I went to menards across the street and got it for cheaper without the shitty attitude and obvious lack of work moral. I've been in better Home Depot stores, but this one is closest. They have the expected things in stock on the shelves, their garden center isn't terrible, and they have a rental desk, and most of the things I've rented have worked as expected. The big plus is that a few of the employees are still willing to go a little further in helping you out. read more

A Home Depot is a Home Depot is a Home Depot. They're pretty much the same anywhere you go with varying degrees of helpfulness from the staff. At this particular location, however, I have to give props to the folks who work here as they are pretty great. I'm doing a few small DIY projects around my new house, one of which includes repainting some particularly hit kitchen cabinetry. I wasn't sure if I had to do anything special so I went to the paint counter to ask some questions. There was only one gentleman at the station so I had to wait a while but once he came over he was very helpful and gave me some great info. I was happy to find that the process is going to be a lot easier than I thought it would be. He mixed me up a sample of my paint so I'd know if it was the right color once in the room and I went along on my way. I'm ready for renovation without being as stressed as I was before about it. Just had a very bad experience at this Home Depot location, middle belt and 96,. 2nd time going to this store because it was close by. Needed some black pipe for a job and needed it to be cut. And for the second time they said the machine was down. Asked for a manager to assist me and to see if they ever do cuts. But another rep came in, talked to to the first rep then turned to me and told me with a loud and an unprofessional way that the machine is down if I don't see that. Finally the assistant manager, Aaron, came in and before approaching me the sec rep stopped him and told him this MF doesn't believe.. then I cut him off for the rude comment. But the assistant manager didn't care and tried to cover his worker saying he said this "gentleman". They were standing 3 ft away from me but Aaron didn't seem like he cared and tried kicking me out of "HIS" store. Then said I'll wait with you till you finish but after he seen my cart, he left with no words. Really unprofessional staff and assistant manager. I come into this store and spend thousands a year. From appliances, rentals, tools, etc. I rented a truck and brought the truck back with the exact amount of gas I left the store with like I do anytime I rent a truck. Well employee lxd2tbv said I have to pay a fee for gas because I didn't have a receipt. Mind you I rent trucks all the time and never experience any issues. it's not about the $10.16 I was charged for gas when truck was returned with the tank past full. It's the principal of the matter and the unwillingness to work with a long time customer. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

This location advertises that it does curbside pick-up, so I ordered and paid online. I waited two days for my order to be ready. When I got there I couldn't find curbside parking so I called. They told me they did not have a curbside pickup location and that all curbside orders had to be picked up inside the store. There were 100 people allowed to wait inside the building and another 50-60 wrapped around the building. I was very frustrated and would not have placed the curbside order had I known they were not actually doing curbside pickup. They shouldn't advertise services they don't offer. read more

DO NOT GET A KITCHEN REMODEL FROM HOME DEPOT!!! They should get ZERO STARS. Absolute garbage work. It was STARTED in July 2019 and it is STILL not finished, and it is now the middle of September. Missing molding, crooked handles, seams that look like TRASH!! Customer service is an absolute joke. They don't return calls. They had to reorder a couple doors and they STILL haven't come in yet. $15K worth of work and it looks like toddlers did the work. Now they said we will schedule you for September 30th. NOOOO. It's painful that I even have to give one star to this Home Depot. Make no mistake about it, my experience with this store is ZERO STAR worthy. Let me explain. My wife and I purchased a new home in December, and it did not include major appliances. So, on the day of our closing we headed to Sears scratch and dent to see if we could find some deals. Well, being less than impressed, we saw a Home Depot up the street and decided to try our luck. It was after Christmas, so you never know where a sale might be found. We were on a time crunch, so after scoping out what they had to offer, we just decided to go for it to hopefully cut down on delivery time. Stainless steel refrigerator, washer, and a dryer, all to the tune of about two grand. This obviously is no small sum, but we were excited to have brand new goodies in our brand new home. Delivery would be a little over a week from the time of purchase. Not a huge deal, I guess. Laundry can accumulate for a bit, and it was certainly cold enough to leave a case of bottled water on the deck in the meantime. Fast forward to delivery day. My wife was living in our new home at the time while I was dealing with selling the old one. I felt so bad as she was essentially camping as she was unpacking, so I was relieved when the fridge arrived in all of it's stainless splendor. Home Depot does not deliver their own appliances, they have a subcontractor do it, which I expected. Well, these folks were awful. Scratching paint, denting a doorway and being careless with our expensive purchases. Due to some miscommunication, they tried to deliver the wrong dryer (gas vs. electric), so we were unable to accept delivery at that time. They did "install" the washer. It was never tested. And my wife had no dryer for another almost 2 weeks, so she had no reason to attempt to run the washer. So the laundry continued to pile up. The correct dryer arrived finally. I was home to oversee this delivery which I was less than impressed with. Lots of banging into walls, loud crashes that ultimately resulted in our brand new dryer that we had been waiting for to suffer a large dent on the top of the controls. I didn't notice it until after they left. I was just so excited to dive into this GIANT pile of dirty clothes and towels that had been growing over the past month. The installation guy half tested the dryer and was out the door. Ok, laundry time. I throw a load in the new washer, press start and walk away. When I came back, WATER WAS ALL OVER THE FLOOR. Pouring out of the BACK of the control panel!! Frantic calls to Home Depot were placed, and they didn't want to hear it. They wanted to know why I was just noticing this now. I explained the dryer situation to them and was basically told too bad. They don't stand by their appliances and returns are only a possibility within 48 hours. I called Maytag (it's what HD told me to do) and explained the situation. It took a few days to get a service guy out to the house, then we had to order parts, then we had to wait another week for those to come in, etc. etc. All the while I was wearing sweaters I hadn't seen in years because clean clothes were few and far between at this point. Very long and angry story made short, we now have a working but by definition REFURBISHED washer that we paid full price for and a dented dryer, also at full price. I spent more time and money in my neighborhood laundromat then I ever did in my nightmares. It took Home Depot corporate headquarters being hounded by us weekly for months to respond to our complaints. And five months later, I'm still angry. No amount of refund or apology could ever remove the bitter taste from my mouth. And I'll b*tch about HD to anyone who will listen. They sent us a small check for our troubles, but it wasn't nearly what we think they owed us. It barely covered the amount of quarters I spent at the laundromat. See my photo, this is how the washer was delivered. Set up to FAIL! I will never return to any Home Depot again for any reason. EVER. And I'd encourage you to do the same. read more

I've read the bad reviews of this location. I have had similar experiences. However, I've also had many good experiences. We bought our house 3 years ago and I never realized how convenient it would be to have a Home Depot right down the street. When moving in, there were multiple trips (sometimes in one day) here for tools, cleaning supplies, paint, building material, etc. I can't speak to the appliances because I have never purchased any. However, we have used the rental service before for carpet cleaning equipment and trucks. The equipment is reasonably priced and we've never had an issue. Overall good experiences here. read more

I'm kind of surprised they actually have 2 stars. I walked in about 20 minutes before they closed and a curly haired black female manager was shutting down registers. I walked past people who were waiting in line at the self checkout. She was incredibly rude to a couple of patrons standing in line. They commented as i passed. I grabbed a couple of items and was heading to the self checkouts. She made eye contact with me and shut the lights off on the self checkouts. The company i work for has spent over $91,000 this year at Home Depot but i also have a Lowes card. I will be switching over very soon read more

Once we found someone, he then proceeded to argue with us on the measurements of cutting the wood we needed and shove food into his mouth in between arguing. Very unprofessional and rude. Finally I see an employee coming my way, ask them a question only to get a "I don't work in this department." This happened 3 times until finally someone came up who did work in the department. Paid for delivery/installation/haul away of a washer. Delivery (forward final mile) dropped the washer on the porch without a call ahead and left on the 15th. Dispatch could not get them to return; rescheduled for the 18th. Did not show. Dispatch stated that they didn't deliver on Mondays anymore; rescheduled for the 19th. Did not show. Dispatch stated that the driver who had planned to cover had other installs and would not be able to make it. Rescheduled for the 29th. Argued that since we had brought the washer inside they couldn't install. After 30 minutes of arguing, installed the washer. Refused to haul away old washer stating liability reasons, despite paying for haul away. Forward Final Mile delivery is an unprofessional, unreliable nightmare. Overall the store is about the same as any other Home Depot especially for the everyday person or do it yourselfer. The tool rental is helpful but I was convinced by the staff to rent something that was the wrong tool. I brought it back quick and they weren't willing to do much about it. read more

After visiting store #2742 (Livonia) on Tuesday to pick up some shelving and paint supplies, I have to say that the Livonia Home Depot has to be the most filthy unorganized store I've ever visited in my life. There were aisles (rear lumber dept) that you could literally not pass through due to all of the unstocked items and other debris blocking the aisles (sounds like a fire hazard to me). I actually had to turn around and walk back down the same aisle because I could not get around to the next aisle. As I walked through the store almost every aisle was partially blocked with half-filled carts and boxes, pallets, and flat beds. The bathroom floor was covered in dozens of pieces of torn paper towels and toilet paper. Does this store even have a manager? read more

This is a review of their fence installation services. DON'T USE THEM. THEY SUCK. About 5 year ago I made the mistake of having Home Deport install a privacy fence in my backyard. They sent a guy out and he was friendly. Then they sent another guy out who was even more friendly and he set up the fence installation date and I opted to remove my old fence myself to save money. I made it very clear to the guy that I wanted the fence installed the next day after I removed my old fence because I have three dogs and one of them is an aggressive guard dog. They guy from Home Depot assured me I was scheduled for a certain date (about three weeks from the date he came out) and I asked if If I needed to call back to confirm and he told me "nope, you're all set." I tore my old fence out on a Sunday (they were scheduled to install the new fence the next day) and called the guy that night to find out what time they were coming. He was like "what's your name?" I calmly explained to him that he scheduled a crew to come to my house the next day and now I no longer had a fence and needed a new one, as we had agreed. He admitted to forgetting about me and made some frantic calls. He called me back, telling me that his fencing crew had agreed to fit me in on that Thursday. Great. So now I have no fence on Mon - Weds. The crew showed up on Thursday and they looked like members of aa prison work program. I was like "damn, do they hire at the parole office?" One of them told my neighbor "don't buy Home Depot fences, the quality sucks." Nice - seeing as he was installing a Home Depot fence. I called my contact at Home Depot and asked him why his crew was telling my neighbor not to buy Home Depot fences. He said he would talk to them. They installed the fence and left. I thought every thing was cool and let my dogs out in the backyard and went up to the store. I got back and my neighbor told me my dogs knocked the fence down and got out of the yard. Luckily she was right there and herded them back in and used some large rocks to wedge the fence back in place. I looked at the fence to see what happened and realized the workers didn't nail the fence boards in the posts. I couldn't believe my eyes. My dog could have attacked someone. They also left a gap between the bottom of my fence and ground of around a foot and a half. I called the Home Depot guy and when he came over I was like "what the fuck is bullshit? Get this shit off my property and don't send a bill." He apologized profusely and got a crew out to make the fixes. It actually took two more trips by the crew to do more repairs and I finally gave up and paid and they guy gave me a $50 home depot card for my troubles. Whatever. If you use them, you're a fool. Consider yourself lucky to have been warned. read more

I would give this no stars but well you know. Went to the rental department to rent floor Sanders. The first drum sander I rented only sanded a 2" strip the drum was worn so I took it back. The guy told me it must have been something I did because it worked fine before. Got a hold of the manager who cancelled the rental and got me another one for 50% off rental price meanwhile the rental guy was talking me down the whole time. Took the next one home same thing. Called Home Depot in Allen park and the guy there told me the varnish on my floor was causing it and to go from 36 to 24 grit. Problem solved! Went back to rent the edger sander started sanding the edges and was ripping the discs right off the sander after looking at it noticed one of the guide wheels was loose to the frame but the lock but was tight against the wheel so it would not spin free just loosen the whole wheel from the frame. Rather than take it back and face another tongue lashing I repaired as best I could and finished the job. When I took it back there were three other guys with the same problem complaining about the same guy that rented the edge sander to me. Spoke with the tech in rental he said the guy who was supposed to be repairing sanders wasn't doing his job he apologized for the state of the equipment and said there was nothing he could do. Next I rented a buffer sander to finish the floors I was extremely tired by then. When I got home realized the lady hadn't given me the cord. Had to go back and get the cord came home tried to put the sand paper on after googling the equipment realized I needed the pad to go between the sander and paper. Another trip to the store talked to the tech who apologized again and showed me what I needed. Returned home by this time it was 8 pm could not get the skirting on the sander so I took the whole thing back because I had to get some sleep before work the next morning. A 1/2 tank of gas, some verbal abuse, $43 for unused sander, PRICELESS! read more

I took the time off of work twice now , waiting on Home Depot to come and give me a estimate on refacing my cabinets and TWICE they were a NO SHOW. I don't know how they can call themselves a company, who does this to people. EVERY TIME I CALL THEY TRANSFER ME .
