Drove to Lompoc, on a Saturday, from Solvang to talk shutters for my new house. No questions were answered. They arranged for Avalon Shutters in Ontario, CA to have an in home consultation with us. Avalon called the next business day to arrange a 2 hour window for the following Saturday. Nobody showed up. Nobody called. I tried to call their office and they're closed. Home Depot basically handed us off to a 3rd party and never checked back to make sure we were taken care of. Two wasted Saturday's. UPDATE: One week later, still no follow-up. Going to be spending $9k in shutters with Budget Blinds. read more

Update 3/30/17 I called approx 4 hours before arriving about my online order of flooring vinyl planks, they said it was here and ready for pickup...when I arrive 4hrs later, they say it's gonna take 45mins+ for them to get it. Why not start getting it ready 4 hrs ago when I said I was coming to get it...this type of stuff happens often at this location... read more

I wish I could write a review just about Home Depot's customer service and their installations because that is where I have a problem. I love the store itself but would never recommend them for any sort of remodeling project. We had carpet and padding installed by them in early 2016. I recently worked with customer service for over 10 months before finding out they won't stand behind the warranties offered by the products they sell. It's been beyond frustrating.The carpet we have looks like it's 15 years old. I don't have pets and I have cleaned it regularly. The padding is worse. I have ripples in my carpet from the wear marks of the padding. I tell everyone I know not to go to Home Depot for remodeling projects. read more

I'm in the process of a custom closet renovation and I am NOT happy. The designer who came out first didn't give us all the information, didn't have us select finishes (didn't even tell us about options), incorrectly measured, and added materials that weren't necessary. Then the second person out was the fabrication rep who did more specific measurements and went over our order. This revaled all the things that the first guy missed or messed up on. Then you have to wait for MANY MONTHS...and I'm still waiting. The closets were supposed to be installed by the end of August at the latest....but apparently that was just another misinformation. Now, when I call to check on the order, which is already fully paid for and has been out of my bank account since I signed the contracts 5 months ago, I get put on hold, disconnected, rerouted to a different person who doesn't answer the phone, or just told that it's not done yet. Like that is news??? For a place that charged me over $6,000 for this job, I expect MUCH better service. I expect communication. I expect someone to finish the job. read more

My wife and I purchased a home almost exactly a year ago and since then have made countless trips to this store, sometimes several times in one day. I have always had a positive experience with every single person I've encountered here. I think I've purchased something from almost every single aisle at this store including garden. If you go during off-peak hours it may be hard to find someone but overall very friendly and helpful employees. read more

I have never been treated so well in my life. I ordered a shower door online last night came in to pick it up in the store. I had never done this before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was greeted by Jessica in the order pick up she went way beyond with kindness and help. I told her my husband wanted me to pick up a large piece of plywood for him and I had no idea where it was. She said no worries first let me go outside get a cart and load your shower door and then I will show you how to open the front locker for your silicone you ordered. She then called an associate to meet me in the lumber department. Once I got there I approached by two associates that loaded my plywood, push the cart to the register for me and then loaded it in my van. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of such great service and kindness. Great Job staff!!!' read more

This Home Depot has the worst customer service I have ever experienced anywhere. One time my boyfriend and I needed to get one of the knives off of the safety latch on the rack, and upon request the employee said "you're both 18 right??" We said yes and laughed (because we're both 21). I happened to be wearing a Santa Ynez High shirt and he looked at me and said, "ya? How's Santa Ynez high school?" I was appalled and he walked away. We went again today to get some copper pipe for a project we're doing. Another employee was practically yelling at the little, elderly Asian lady in the same isle as us. We asked him if he had anything we could cut our pipe with, because we couldn't fit it in our car, and he interrupted us before we could even explain. "WE DONT CUT PIPE HERE! Did you want to BUY a pipe cutter??" I don't know who they are hiring, but I dread it every time I go. read more

Purchased a Samsung gas range in store with a delivery date for 11/14. They are supposed to call the night before. Wouldn't you know!? They didn't call. Monday morning I call the number for delivery. They said the order was cancelled to call the store I purchased it at. I call Lompoc they say it is damaged and couldn't be delivered (turns out the store employee made this up on the phone to get rid of me.) So I go to the store to get a refund. They tell me I can't have a refund until they get their money from Samsung. I then told them that I paid them, they did not deliver the Merchandise as promised. I would like my money back so I can go to a store that actually has merchandise in stock(what a concept). It wasn't until I said I wasn't leaving until I got my money back and pulled up a seat at the customer service line did they then take me seriously and started making phone calls. Eventually 45 minutes later I get my refund. So in the end F@ck you very much Home Depot. You are good for nothing more than the manure you actually stock. read more

Had a "special" whole house install of special order laminate flooring for only $ 397.00. The flooring was only 1.89 a square foot and was approximately $2,000.00 they nickeled and dimed the estimate till the total amount was over 5,000.00. Plus you prepaid 50.00 dollars for someone to come measure(something I could have done myself). Do not use this company if you plan on saving any money. Don't know how a $397.00 whole house install could become a $3,000.00 install. I will never go to Home Depot for any contracted services again. read more

I really hope I never need to do business here again. I'm so disappointed with the lack of customer care, extra fees and disrespectful staff. The inventory selection is nice and it is an easy convenient store for home improvements. I wanted to get new carpet before the holidays and the staff said it was no problem. I paid the $50 for a measurement, waited the two hour window for the appointment. The guy came to measure, but was not able to provide any suggestions or information on carpet or the installation process. The next day I got a call with the estimate, again they could provide no suggestions or information on carpet or the installation process. I called the store, waited on hold for 15 minutes while the manager tried to locate someone in the dept. with no luck. So I offered to call back later. I called back several hours later with the same outcome. I stopped by the store that evening and after the manager was able to locate a flooring specialist, we went over my options and the estimate. When we sat down I was very clear that objective is to get carpet installed by Tuesday, this was Wednesday night. During the visit the sales associate was very curt, provided little information on the carpet material, life coatings etc. basically, if it wasn't printed on the display he had no idea. After 45 minutes of getting everything in the computer and adjusting the estimate he asked how I'd like to pay. I asked what day they would do the install and he said that they'd call me in a day or two. I reminded him that if it couldn't be installed by Tuesday that I'd have to wait, at which point I'd order a nicer carpet. Additionally, I asked about the military discount and he said it didn't apply to this purchase although we were told it applied to every purchase. That is when I got up and informed him that I wouldn't be making a decision today. I proceeded to the customer care Center to speak with a manager. When the Associate finished what she was doing on Her cell phone, They called a manager and stated that a young lady would like to talk to them regarding flooring, they let me know where the flooring dept was and asked if I could provide more information on what I needed the manager about. I told them customer care and service. I was told the manager was on her way, but it would be a few minutes. A few minutes later they called back, the associates laughed and chatted before hanging up and letting me know it would be a few more minutes. After several minutes I asked the associate to let the manager know that I'd be taking my business some where else and left. The next day a local flooring shop representative came over to measure the house, show me samples, and provide me an estimate. We had new carpet installed the next week. Bottom line I as able to get it installed cheeper, easier and a better quality carpet thanks to much nicer and professional people from a local shop. I scheduled a carpeting installation and the measurement was incorrect, resulting in them running out of carpet midway thru the installation. More carpet was ordered and the installer (JW Flooring) did not show up for the 2nd installation appointment and I waited over an hour on the phone calling to see where they were. I wouldn't use Home Depot again for a flooring project. read more

It can be hard to find an employee to help you sometimes but, for us most of the time we don't really need the help. They've got a little bit of everything and it's a place we go to often. read more

The Home Depot is a quintessential 'big box' that drives other, smaller family stores out of business. And, unfortunately, the customer sometimes knows more about the hardware bits they are buying than the store "associates" do. But on the other hand it is nice to have a massive store full of nuts and bolts and lumber and paint just down the street. Also, once in a while this store excels in some way. Like this Christmas....Home Depot is the ONLY place in Lompoc that has fresh-cut Christmas trees for sale! Nobody but the Depot has trees this year! What the fluff? After our daughter closed escrow on her new home on Mar 10, 2017 we've been shopping at Home Depot and also took advantage of the carpet promotion and paid $4800+ cash for it. The people in that dept (John-Spvr, Joe and esp Cris) we're so helpful. It was during our 5th visit that I had the most awful experience twice in a day. First while trying to get our free propone tank, a promotion for buying a new grill, a contractor argued with me to make his inventory first since the store always messes them. Secondly, the front cashier charged me for it and didn't want to credit me back cuz it's too confusing and it took 3 cashiers to assist me with it but not before I was made to feel like I'm being dishonest. I bought a frigidaire range 5 months ago haven`t even paid it off the oven stopped working. Called the store to let them know what had happened chris the appliance supervisor gave me a # to call which is always overwhelmed with calls and won`t let you leave a your # for a call back. Then i was told this was all they could do for me. when i called they have a prompt question saying is it at your property say no and act like a home depot employee then they pick up right away. next day went in person to lompoc store chris the appliance supervisor pushed me into cabinets and said he was busy with a customer. moments later the store manager bruce showed up what a piece of work he was he argued with me and then commented well i can sell you another range unbelievable the worst customer sevice i have received in 57 years!! i guess home depot is desperate for good Management and supervisors that is the only conclusion i can come too. Horrible it`s ok lowes has better prices. little things that i know don`t require a warranty i will still shop for only because i live in lompoc. read more

So much better than the other local Home Depot store to the south. The Lompoc HD store is clean, very well organized and neatly stocked. The other local Home Depot is the opposite in all those categories. Not sure why there is so much difference but the employees and management certainly do a better job in Lompoc. Don't waste your time asking for help in this store. You'll be left in an isle waiting for someone who has no intention of coming back. It's happened to us twice now. Sales associates are typically socializing as they walk the isles. Compared to stores in Norwalk and La Habra, this store is awful. Unfortunately, they are the only game in town though. read more

The store normally has the items I need for my low(cheap) budget projects. I do not recommend going in their to early on saturday mornings. The employees run from you, and they are usually understaffed. I now try to make it to nielsons in Solvang to pick up my lumber, ect. It's worth the drive and you are actually helped by someone that knows what they are talking about. read more

I can't say enough good things about Bobbi in the kitchen design center. Because of schedule conflicts I only had one day to design and order my new kitchen cabinets and granite before the very substantial coupons expired. Bobbi worked with me most of the day and even after her scheduled shift ended so we could get the order in by the time the store closed. In addition to her patience she was very knowledgeable and thorough in ordering every piece I needed. I am so grateful we have a store like Home Depot in Lompoc and that it is staffed by employees like Bobbi. read more

Called for an estimate on flooring for a tiny bathroom. Was given an approx. on the phone. Had them send someone fo measure for official estimate. Was over 3 times as much as initially told even though their measurements for the room was less than mine. It included a charge for repair kit in case THEY ruined the new vinyl. $400 for this tiny room. Got 2 additional estimated from other companies that were half what Home Depot charges. I have never been so frustrated.Trying to do business with Home Depot has been a night mare. My husband went to the Lompoc store to order a washer and Dryer on the 19th of August. After an extreme amount of paper work and a salesman that was not well versed in his job my husband was told the appliances would arrive in no more that 10 days and they would call us to set up appt for delivery. On our contract it states that August 26th was the latest deliver date. Next we were told that for sure the items would arrive Sept. 2nd. that didn't happen either. On Sept 3rd we were told they were on a truck somewhere in L.A. and probably be delivered to the store on the 4th. We called Home Depot on the 4th and no one in the dept knew where they might be. Talked to the store manager and she assured us she would check into the matter and call us with an answer Friday morning the 5th. My husband called about 3 PM since we had NOT heard from the store manager and was told "Oh she went home at 2:30 today" I have never seen such a lack of customer service in my life. Phone call today Sept 6th finally talking to store manager again. her response, "we believe it is in transit, should be here sometime this week'. could be dead and buried by the time these products show up.
