I will never use The Home Depot for installation again!! We had them remove an old dishwasher and install a new one in April Everything was working fine. 2 weeks ago we were in the kitchen chatting. I leaned back against the counter and the dishwasher made this awful sound The brackets holding it had broken off of the underside of the counter tearing chunks of the particle board off of the counter The dishwasher then tipped backwards Apparently when they installed it they did not level it front to back. So the movement while washing and the weight of it has been pulling on the brackets all these months and it finally gave way I contacted 2 handymen to get quotes on fixing I contacted Home Depot to see if they will reimburse us for the repair Instead they sent out 3 people from the company they contract with for installation One of them didn't speak English which is fine except 2 of them were talking Spanish to each other and we didn't know what they were saying (the third was like Darryl and never spoke) The one that spoke to us asked me if I had the screws for the bracket. I had found one so I gave it to her. Without talking to us the other guy starting putting the screw back into the counter top. I said stop. What are you doing. She said we're screwing the bracket back on. They were putting it in the same spot where chunks were broken off. And they were only going to do that on one side because we didn't have the other screw We said that isn't going to work Because the washer is up against a wall she said the only other thing they could do attach it to the cabinet on one side and on the wall side we'd have to put a piece of wood and attach it there also But she said that the cabinet was off kilter and not plumb with the wall. Tom said no it's not the dishwasher is not level side to side. She said he was wrong. (He checked it with a level and he is right) I told them we didn't want them fixing this since they don't know what they are doing and will only damage it more. They left I contacted Home Depot again. They told me I refused to let the team in to fix it After a bit of back and forth with me asking to be reimbursed for the installation fee and for a handyman to fix it (they were telling me that i was supposed to call within 48hrs of installation if there was a problem I told them there was no way I knew it wasn't installed correctly until it broke) they finally agreed to reimburse me for the installation (minus tax) and gave me a $150 gift card for Home Depot for my trouble. This still doesn't fix the damage they did or help me pay to get it repaired read more

The absolute worst Home Depot I've ever been to, and I've been to many all over the U.S. I *HATE* this store. Messy store, rude and lazy employees. Pretty much all of them that I've encountered have a crappy attitude and don't want to be bothered. The ultimate of these losers was a white guy with a goatee named Ryan. He (begrudgingly) made some keys for me and his attitude was absolutely appalling.... for just doing his job. But acted like he was doing me the biggest favor ever. How does that POS even have a job? I had the misfortune of stopping at Home Depot last week to purchase an item that was not available at my local Menards. I've shopped at this particular Home Depot before and before I arrived, I knew exactly what I would be up against. The item I needed was in a secured cage so I was forced to find an employee with access to the cage. After walking around and around, isle after isle, and finding no one to help me, I finally spotted an employee. He was siting on the bottom rung of a stepladder playing some sort of game on his cellphone. Without looking up, and after what seemed like many seconds, he finally asked if I needed help. I told him what I needed and where the item was. He continued to play his cellphone game for a while longer after which he begrudgingly said to me "where is it" We went to the cage and he pulled out the item and gave it to me. Without as much as an acknowledgement, he turned around and went back to his ladder - cellphone in hand. Customer service at this particular Home Depot, at least for me, was beyond dismal. I shop here frequently. There is a security guard at the entry customer service desk. No one at the exit door. Over the years I have witnessed people walking out the door with large items lawn mowers etc,,,employees and security saying come back, as the thief loads up their vans with supplies. I've asked how is this happening. I was informed that the store is reimbursed under loss prevention therefore management allows this to happen because loss prevention is reimbursed through insurance coverage once paid out it rolls into bonus money that is distributed from the top to management. This Home Depot calls itself the North Shore Home Depot. The depth of how crappy this store is cannot be overstated. I don't let my wife even shop here because it doesn't feel safe. Product on the shelf is not organized, so you have to verify everything and never trust a shelf label. They are not using any basic inventory system. If you need 4 specific plumbing parts you find 3 and have to look through 20 random boxes in that area to find them. When I buy lumber it is clear no one is removing the rejected pieces often enough so there is not fresh stock. Last week many of the prices are just missing in the lumber section so you have to guess or bring someone over to scan to know what things cost. I always take a photo of the price slip because pretty consistently either the cashier won't ring something up correctly or their computer system doesn't have the right price. The cashiers literally use my phone photos to check me out correctly. Employees are generally friendly but you can tell this is just a job and are clueless if you have even the most basic question about product or process. Whatever staffing model HD uses is also not working as there seems to be twice as many employees walking around that store than needed. Even with all these flaws this store is always busy because it's the only option we have. I've always been a firm believer in recognizing what you need before you actually go in and get it. I have never expected to go to any home improvement store and receive the kind of knowledge that I can't gain from personal research. Only once in a blue moon do you find anyone, at these kind of places, that can actually give you some sound advice. Home improvement generally speaking is the place where you go get materials to do whatever needs to be done. This particular Home Depot I find to be decent and the biggest plus, it's so close to home! That makes going to rent tools or buy any merchandise I need to complete a project a breeze. I did end up purchasing a kitchen suite from this location and I had solid service during that whole exchange. For those reasons Home Depot Northshore works and is my go to, to make it happen, weekend after weekend! read more

This review is not about Home Depot, directly. But it's concerning the shipping company they use. Then again I didn't choose the shipping company. (So they represent Home Depot) I recently purchased a riding mower online from HD. The first mower I sent back was because I couldn't find the key. And when I went to a store to see, I could get it there. An associate said something about the mower was a factory imperfect. So I went home and called to have it picked up. And I ordered another brand. Then, while I was getting it ready for pick up, I found the key zipped tied to the side discharge chute(which I wasn't planning on using, so I never would have found). Anyway it goes back and a few days later the second one arrives. They pull it off the truck on two little carts. No box, no protective wrapping. I asked them, " Where's the box?" They say something about the boxes get tore up and some customers have them get rid of them. I don't have a problem with the mower, so far it's all good. The problem I have is paying full price for an open box item. I called and spoke with someone at customer support. All they said was that's how the shipping company delivers. I mean, this can't be right. If I'm paying a couple thousand dollars for a product. I expect to receive it the way it comes from the factory. In a protective container with all the items it comes with and a packing list. Anyway, I just needed to do a little venting because customer support was no help at all. I don't love this store. Never have. Likely never will. Yet my most recent visit wasn't horrible, and I'm feeling generous, so three stars it is. The location is a plus, near the freeway, both on and off, which made it great for running in before work to grab the single thing I needed: bathtub caulk. The selection allowed for me to consider several options before choosing the one that dried the quickest. And really, for a 50 cent difference, isn't four hour drying better than 12? My biggest complaint about this store has always been the lack of customer service. I saw plenty of employees talking to each other, but no one spoke to me, save the cashier--who actually was pretty pleasant and efficient, so no complaints there. Though I really just wanted to use Self Checkout so I could be on my way quicker without waiting in line, but they were all closed. Sad face. read more

I actually heard a gentleman who asked a Home Depot associate if someone could help him get a 50lb bag of something off a shelf be told she didn't think there was anyone who could help him (of the dozens of Home Depot associates around the store...none could help this guy? I find that surprising). Then, we were looking at some landscape bricks. Most were well marked with their price, but of course the ones we needed for our project didn't have a price. I recently tried out the new ship to your local store feature as I saw an item online that was not in any Home Depot stores nearby. I went in and the customer service desk is right by the entrance. There were 2 girls working who assisted me immediately. They were both talkative and upbeat. They found my order very quickly and within minutes I was on my way. The store itself was clean, at least in the the front, and I saw several employees working. I do not come to this store often, usually to buy random things I need at home or plants/planting supplies. I have never had a bad experience, and I plan on returning soon as I need more supplies for my growing collection of indoor plants :) read more

They are all young and I'm sure there's high turnover, low pay, etc. But they should know how the store works and where you go for tools, returns, whatever. Or help you figure out where to go. Here we go! Losing a star. I went to this location to make an online return out of convenience of location. After about 15 mins of waiting, for what I have no idea, not a large line in sight, I was signaled up. Oh, Lord! I might as well have been been speaking in tongues trying to return a piece of junk from the attic. I presented my receipt and the unopened boxes and the first thing they said, "We won't be able to return this, only for store credit." They come out setting the expectations low, a fair strategy on their point. I was well within the return window and had even picked up the items from their store so I was NOT willing to lose $200. A manager was called over. "Oh, we have no way to look up the order. And our system is down." I knew I was not going to get through to them and couldn't waste any more time in this circle of retail hell. I quickly called online to ask them what the deal was, how can I return these fans. They were shocked to hear the store did not take them. "Why didn't they call us, we could have provided the info?" Why indeed didn't they. I am headed back there out of principle, if any store deserves to receive a return, further sales to make up, this NS location is the one. This is the worst Home Depot I've ever been to. I am a pro customer who buys most my supplies at Home Depot but after the way Danny the manager had no interest in helping me today I may just take all my business elsewhere. Went in to exchange a door today. I bought four doors through the bid process three days ago. Turns out the one was a left hand swing and I needed a right hand swing. So came to exchange for the same door just different direction. Was told that I needed to pay $100 more cause they cannot exchange only return the door and buy a new one without the bid process. This has never happened to me before the doors are both the same price same size same style. He just was not even going to hear it. I had to have the cashier call him three times just to come talk to me about it. But he didn't even want to hear it he said with the bid it's ad different process he can't do anything. read more

We were loading 2x4s and ran out on the bottom shelf, so I asked if the employee could cut the straps and help us get the wood down from the second shelf. He came and cut the straps, wood flying out, not warning us to stand back and then walked away. NOT HELPING!!! I went to ask a checkout clerk for help since it was clearly dangerous for us to unload the loose wood from high up and he said he'd send someone over... no one came. I asked again, no one came. I came in for a plumbing perk. Yes, it was just after dinner. There was no one to assist me. I went up to check out and asked for assistance. The gal west system come to the wrong place. I saw an employee in another aisle and asked for assistance in plumbing and he told me he had no knowledge. I went back to the checkout where I spoke with a gal named Taz. She said she would page the manager. 15 minutes later I came back up and has told me that she can't help the other customers if I keep coming up to her. She told me to go back and wait in that department. Another 10 minutes pass. I came back up to her register. She told me they are shortstaffed. I asked for the managers name. The management is Courtney. Again, has told me to go and wait in that aisle. I waited five more minutes and came back to the register, asking to page for assistance. Again, she told me they are short staffed, and I should come back when they have more staff to assist. It was a customer who saw my frustration to was able to direct me to a simple part. I am encouraged by the Home Depot delivering prompt, public responses to reviews on Yelp. Within 24 hours of my negative review of one of their Milwaukee stores, I got a communication from them via Yelp to contact their on-line media team. Then, within a few hours of that, I received a call from their home office in Georgia. Their pleasant representative apologized for the failure of the Milwaukee team and offered me a $20 gift card as a concession for my troubles. Within hours of that, I got a follow-up email and another message with a $20 e-coupon attached. While I am encouraged by the timeliness of this team's response to my negative posting on Yelp, I am not satisfied with what I suspect is Home Depot's response to their poor service and system issues. Here's why: 1. I wasted an afternoon of a holiday weekend waiting for a delivery that did not come. 2. I was misinformed by a HD associate about the availability of the item I wanted when I purchased it. 3. I was misinformed by a HD associate about the delivery of the item. 4. I was charged for the full retail price of the item plus a $20 delivery charge. I did not receive the item and there was no actual delivery or attempted delivery. I was refunded the price of the item and tax. I was not refunded the $20 delivery charge. 5. The "concession" offered by Home Depot for a $20 gift card is not any concession at all. It is simply a different payment for a store credit in the amount of the original delivery charge. 6. I did not get a grill to use over the holiday; ordering pizza didn't quite feel the same. 7. The few times I have need direction on the location of a product, either I can't find someone (probably in a group taking) or they don't know where to look anymore than I do. Worst home depot ive ever been to. I typically dont review places but this store is compete garbage. Employees avoid you to not assist you, they have little to no knowledge at their job. Asked for a circular saw and the employee said "it would be alot of dedication to find it in all of thoose boxes up there and i doubt any of us would want to do that and if it says we have 7 items in stock online it probably means we dont have any in the store". But today I had a different experience. After walking around the store and asking at least two people that did not help me I finally came across a gentleman named Jay. Terrible service/ Nobody knows what they are doing. If you order online and try to pick up in the store, you'll have to stand at the desk for 30 minutes before even talking to someone. I tried to buy a storm door with installation; it has taken countless phone calls, several trips into the store to ask in person since nobody resolved anything over the phone, and a month later I still have no installation even set up. My Millwork saga continues I have not received my Millwork yet and I found out that it was not ordered from the supplier Home Depot uses until May 10, I had placed the order on April 27. And was confirmed on the 29. So now the facts I have uncovered is when I started to call the store and ask where my order was the Home Depot team of, lm at a loss for words to describe them, people had not placed the order they had confirmed. So when I started to complain about not knowing where my order was they quickly ordered the Millwork and had it FedXed overnight to the store. That must be cost effective. The moral of this tail.
