This is a large, clean, spacious Home Depot. We stopped there to get a shower head and they had a good selection of them. The store is so big and there are so many customers and few staff that it really is a self service store. They still have their nursery section open so you can get some colder temperature plants for indoors (mostly). Nice large parking lot. read more

John and Chelsea in the Garden Department deserve recognition. Over the phone, John assured me that they had what I needed. In the store, both employees helped me find exactly the product I needed and were friendly about doing so. On the other hand, an employee named Missy (got her voicemail) needs to re-think her vm message, like changing it from "I'll get back to you at my earliest convenience" to something more customer-friendly such as "I'll get back to you as soon as I can." Another miserable experience. Bought a 3k lincoln electric plasma cutter online. Shipped to store. Power switch broken. Had to return and reorder as opposed to an even exchange. There is a difference between store bought vs. online order. Mind you since I had to return and reorder the price went up $160 and plus an additional $210 in taxes that I didn't pay the first time around since it was shipped to NH originally. To further the aggravation this time around I was only provided 6 months interest free as opposed to the 12 months interest free that I had. Home Depot can suck it. read more

This Home Depot is like any other that I've visited, with this one right off Route 4. I've come to this location a few times over the years that I've lived in Rhode Island. Recently I visited and had to ask the workers there for item locations. They were prompt to respond and were very knowledgeable of the store knowing the exact location of the items. I went to Home Depot in North Kingstown and actually could not get over how friendly everyone was towards me helping me find my department and then showing me all the different microwaves they had. I called them first and spoke with Christine, she checked first just to find out if there were any in stock and then told me to come on over. When I got there she took me to see Mr. Scott Williams and he went above and beyond making sure I had the right model. I also bought a complete patio set with a gas grille earlier and was treated the same way. I am completely sold on this store and will make sure I get all my supplies from them from now on. read more

So the girls and I had a little mishap. After a night filled with laughter, making new friends, and great food (edibles x chic-fil-a), we accidentally burned down my friends porch. I'm not even talking charred, like it was entirely cremated. And what's a porch without Adirondack chairs, a handle of gin, and a UE Boom speaker. Heavily hungover and with a trip to Boston ahead of us, we had to act fast. After failed attempts to acquire materials from other big names in the business, we rolled into 1255 Ten Rod Rd, aka the Home Depot - where our lives were changed forever. Picture three, six foot tall girls covered in ash aimlessly walking around the Home Depot, the wonderful employees of the establishment came to our aide. As we asked about acquiring a fire pit, we were regretfully informed they didn't have full fire pits. That was it, we were screwed (or so we thought). Confused by our urgency to acquire the a pit-o-fire, John from garden asked if we were trying to "blaze up tonight." We couldn't breathe, not from the soot in our lungs but from the uncontrollable laughter that hurled from our mouths. "No John," I wheezed, "that was last night... we blazed up, then blazed down. As in we burned down our porch and came pretty close to burning down half the state of Rhode Island." John from Garden and his team went wild. Not only did they appreciate the story, but they were eager to get us "back on our feet" with a dolla discount and putting some gravel on hold without making us go through customer service and filling out forms that nobody will probably look at anyways. John was extremely grateful for sharing our misfortune with him, as our pain seemed to be his pleasure. John, we are so happy we could give you and your wonderful team a good chuckle. Just needed the curbside pickup to work today, the day of my mother's funeral and I with a broken foot. Waited 25 minutes finally was able to reach customer service desk and the guy blamed me for checking in wrong even though I did everything correctly. Told him I texted the number on the sign as well as checking in online and he said "oh those texts go to Atlanta". After 45 minutes finally got my AC filters. Why have a curbside pickup system if it doesn't work? Long time HD customer that is really pissed off right now. Just like everything during these tough times, a massive fail. I kind of hate to say it, since I really like to support locally owned businesses, but I freaking love this place. Seriously. Love. A lot. Why you ask? Well, for one thing, it has pretty much everything you need, might need, might think you need or don't even know you need until you need it. Under one roof. Or maybe in the garden section. Or under the front eaves. But all at the same location. And this place has a knowledgeable, friendly staff. No kidding. The dude in plumbing actually knows a ball valve from a p-trap. The guy in electrical (at least one of them) is a former master electrician. A good selection of lower to mid-grade materials. If you want higher end designer stuff they can probably special order it but really, go somewhere else, like a specialty shop for those designer backsplash tiles and Santa Fe inspired floor samples. But for the basic stuff - concrete mix, run-of-the-mill plantings, lumber, electrical, etc. you can't go wrong here. read more

Really bad customer service. The last time I was here, I was looking for a post hole digger. Asked one of the employes if they had one, as I didn't see any out. He replied that "I think we do" and walked over to another employee, and asked if he had gotten those items they had seen on the riser earlier. Deer in headlights, the other employee replied no, we don't have any. So apparently they did, but just didn't want to do the work to get them. read more

(re North Kingstown, RI store) The sales person, Adam, in flooring, was very helpful and personable. The paint guys have been helpful too, although one time I got color samples home and there was no tint. Customer service, however, is AWFUL (worst on the planet!!!!!) and enough reason for us not to engage them for anything but off the shelf sales. If you can get through on the phone (45 minutes ringing wait one time), they'll transfer you and it will hang up after 2-3 more rings. They say it's their phone system, but I know they can see the caller phone number so hang up if they don't want to deal. If you can finally speak to anyone, they tell you the opposite of the last person. Then you have to drive over and track someone down. And yet the problem persists. We now have flooring materials in the post-hurricane rain-drenched yard because they can't agree on which of them should do what. NIGHTMARE. Find an independent contractor or supplier - Home Depot is terrible. read more

Not a huge fan of big box stores in general, but realize that this place has pretty much everything the home owner needs. One thing to remember when shopping here, especially for major purchases is to check all the details - delivery etc. The staff is really not on top of this aspect of service. Make sure you spell out what you want/need like a 5th grader or it will most likely get overlooked. Then frustration will ensue, and the staff can be less than patient. read more

Just tried to return unused items to the NK Home Depot, With A Receipt. I was told that the items on my receipt already showed a return, which clearly they weren't. When they checked my card, yup showed no returns. I was then told that I had to take a store credit of $231 (taxes not included) which I absolutely did not want. They told me there was nothing they could do, the computer wouldn't allow an override. What a joke of a company not to mention a huge scam. I guess with Hone Depot it doesn't matter if you have the receipt, you're getting a store credit. Funny I also had some materials left over from Lowes. It came right off my card. Horrible experience in trying to buy Carpeting. Went in to buy carpet and asked how long it would take and was told approximately 4 weeks and my problem was I only had 3 weeks and 4 days until my move. The salesman said it's 4 weeks cause they don't know if what I choose is in stock or not and then when the carpet arrives the order is sent over to installation department to set the install date and to allow 2 weeks for that. I understood that is the policy they tell customers and explained my situation. I asked if we could call to see if what I choose is in stock and I will make sure to choose one that is in stock and was told they couldn't. I then asked well can we call the installation dept and set an install date now and I would pay for the carpet in full right then and then I was told they couldn't . I asked why two simple phone calls couldn't be made to help a customer and secure Home Depot over a $4,000 transaction and he just apologized and said that was the policy. The next day while driving through Wakefield I saw Bart's Carpets and decided to stop in. I explained to Tom my situation and he called manufacturers to see if my choices were in stock and I chose one in stock. He explained they were out a couple of weeks on installation but he could make my date because he doesn't have to wait for possession of carpet knowing it is in stock. One other thing, they didn't want to accept HD measurements(which I already paid HD for) so Jeff came out that night on his way home and measured. They called me the next day with the quote which was very good and I said thank you so much and gave them my sale of over 4K! With the customer service Tom and Jeff gave me they earned all of my future flooring needs! Thanks HD for showing me the little guys do make a difference! read more

Cookie-cutter in every way, with nothing to differentiate it from any other Home Depot out there. That being said, I stop here when I need home and gardening stuff when I know I'll be in the area. I don't necessarily go out of my way to shop at this location, but don't have any complaints when I do stop here. Over the last several months, I've shopped here for work (blinds for our office building) and for my home . The staff has been mostly accessible and friendly when I've been there. My last stop there was this past weekend when I actually ordered stuff on line for pick up at the store. The process was fast and easy and the reason I did it was that I didn't want to go to the store and either have to search high and low for what I was looking for (a spray bottle and some twine) or get there and find out that what I was looking for wasn't in stock. Pick up was accomplished with little fanfare. I'll definitely use this process again in the future so I don't end up wandering the aisles and buying things I want but don't necessarily need. read more

Apparently cashiers at Home Depot can be fired if they cannot get a certain amount of customers to sign up for a Home Depot credit card. This does not apply to all employees there, just cashiers. The policy is not that they ask customers if the want to apply but that customers actually fill out an application. So if they want to keep their job, they have to constantly hound customers to apply for a credit card. Since this is Home Depot it is not like they get alot of first time customers so the constantly have to keep hounding repeat customers. And it is not like all employees are treated the same. Alot of cashiers at Home Depot are college kids just trying to make money while they are in school. So alot of these cashiers are part time workers who will not be doing this as a career. For alot of these cashiers this may be their first job and now they will have on their record that they were fired from a job and for what? They could not get a customer to go in debt by signing up for a credit card. This is no way to treat employees. Holding them accountable for something completely out of their control. This used to be a good store to shop at but if this is how they treat their employees, I won't be going back. read more

Home Depot is a place to go to if you know what you want and aren't looking for help. In general I don't have a high opinion of any of Home Depot's help. I've been to all of the Home Depot's in RI except for the Newport store and there is very little difference in the stores' stock and layout. Which is good in a Wally World way. Honestly, if this chain had a 24 hour centrally located store in RI I would probably be there more often. Sometimes you can find someone who really knows their stuff but in general either a) they're busy, b) they can't be found or c) they don't take you seriously when your female. When you find that employee that can give you information with out the BS, write their name down and their expertise. Good luck with that though. The stores are huge like a warehouse store a la BJ's. And the aisles are spacious which help when people come through with their push carts and shopping carriages that are generous enough to hold a candelabra or 5 2 x 4s and a bag of fertilizer. There are a variety of brands for certain items and good sized lighting section as well as paint section. Their tool section is pretty good too. I can't say I have ever gotten any worthwhile help in any Home Depot. I attempted once when they first opened to get help with a basic item: a door handle assembly. I wanted a basic handle with a lock that had a key and a switch on the inside of the door. Maybe it was me but the person helping me seemed to have a hard time finding it. Eventually I found it and decided to go back to my method of getting all the information I needed online or from friends and finding it myself. I'm not a contractor but I find myself having to replace or repair small to medium things around the house or doing maintenance work that's not necessary to call a handyman or professional for. I don't like coming here but sometimes they have some awesome bargains. I bought my Mother an outdoor sink for only $30.00! Unreal! I am ashamed to say that keeps me coming back in case I find something unexpected that I would really like but don't usually think of. Otherwise I don't come here unless the local stores are closed or it has something I can't get anywhere else (which is rare). I do have to say that I prefer Home Depot to Lowes; it is cheaper and less pretentious. And it seems to have a better selection in my opinion. They only have self checkout stations and they weren't working when I went there last. There was no one around the checkout area to help. Took me 10 mins to find someone only to tell me to go to customer service which had another 10 minute wait to checkout. Why have a machine to take away jobs only to be sent to a person who is now overworked and probably more stressed out than necessary for the job title? A waste of money on those machines because I will drive the extra 5 mins down the road to another store. Some people like to talk to a person when they checkout. read more

I will not be going back...ever. This is the second time I have ordered a variety of items for curbside pickup and this time, the customer service was even worse...and it was very poor the first time. When you arrive there are spaces for curbside pickup with the store phone number. I arrived today and started calling, but even though this number, 401-295-1184, is the store phone number, it brings you to an automated system. After trying all sorts of ways to reach anyone through the automated system. absolutely no one answered the phone. I finally said "store manager" and the automated system put me through promptly. I told him the situation that I had been calling for a 1/2 hour with no one answering the phone. He seemed put out but said he would look into it. Well, I sat for another 1/2 hour and started calling over and over again. Finally, I got through to some on who was in customer service. Of course, no apology but, again, a put out attitude. I waited another 15 minutes and finally got my order. I understand they may have difficulties with the coronavirus, but it is a total disregard for customers that such a large organization has no one to even answer the phone and advise when order will be brought to your car. If curbside delivery cannot be well done, it should NOT be offered. This place needs some basic training in customer service and the store manager should be ashamed of himself and his store. read more

It took us four months to completly remodel our home. This HD is less than 5 minutes away from us. We literally had to go in here everyday for a month. The staff has Always been kind and courteous (except for one particular woman in blinds!). They even know us on a 1st name basis. They assisted with parts and ideas They the process. When our new soaker tub arrived cracked Katie @ the customer service desk had a new one in 2 days and got the manufacturer to give me 20% back! This is my store! read more

I went to this location today and yesterday. Both times everybody that work there was great. I needed help with a few things and each time I had the help I needed. Today I had my grandson with me and I needed mulch and material for the bottom of his playground. He was sleeping the entire time so one of the associates had the flatbed and loaded everything onto the flatbed brought it up to the cashier and then loaded my vehicle. Excellent service! read more

I shop here a lot. I like the selection. In the spring the plant section is strong. The selection of most of what I am looking for, electrical, rugs, plumbing is strong. The merchandising is good, everything is clean, well organized, properly labeled. Why I am so anxious to tell what I don't like. Maybe it is because the prices are not better than the local shops and the big box stores eat up so much of the local economies $. The money I spend does not stay in the community but goes to head quarters in some other state. The problems are it is a big box store so it is hard to find what I looking for because the store is so big and there is so much walking. It is hard to find staff. When I do find people to help me they are very good. Knowledgeable about their area of expertise and able to direct me where to find items. But there are not many workers waiting to help me. It is usually hard to find anyone. Often the check out line is self-service only, which I hate. That's it for me. read more

We ordered and paid an additional $30 for a grill to be delivered between 8-10am. After calling customer service at Home Depot in North Kingstown they tell me that the grill will be delivered sometime around 1pm, but they can't be sure. If you have anything that will be delivered from Home Depot be prepared for it to be 5+ hours late. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

This is without question the worst Home Depot out there. It's probably right up there with the worst big box stores in existance. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. The customer service is terrible. If you can find someone to help you at all they have no idea where anything is. For some reason this store schedules all their stocking during peak hours of the day. So even if you know where your item is there is always a good chance that your isle might be closed down for a half hour while it is restocked via forklift. If you're lucky enough to find the item in an open isle then you have to try to pay for your item. This can be difficult because at times they will close all the registers and just leave the self check out open. Ever try using self check out with a cart full of lumber? Not fun. I've literally just left my cart in the isle and gone somewhere else where my business is appreciated. Other times it will be self check out and the pro register that is open with a huge line. It would be nice if they warned you of this ahead of times. Something along the lines of "We don't have enough people working to take your money, as such only one register is open. Please come back another time. Or try Lowes." I don't hate Home Depot. Hardly, I love the store and I highly recommend the one in Westerly. It's really a completely different store which apperantly has a more compentent manager. read more

Today, we received wonderful customer service while purchasing blinds, paint, etc. but we wanted to specifically acknowledge Julie in the Customer Service Department, who went above and beyond. On December 29th, at 2200hrs, my wife and I purchased the Dakota 48" vanity for the sale price of $535, down from the original price of $669. On January 5th, we went to our local Home Depot to purchase a faucet for our vanity which was purchased online. When we pulled up the model, we were shocked to see it listed for sale at an unbelievable price of $267.60! Apparently this sale began on December 30th. We responded to the customer service desk where we explained the situation to Julie. Julie called Home Depot online services and would not take no for an answer! Two separate phone operators told her despite only missing the sale by less than two hours, we could not be refunded. Julie wound up speaking with their manager, who also initially refused to budge. After legendary customer service skills/negotiating, Julie was able to convince them to honor the sale price we had missed by just shy of two hours. With the money we saved, we were able to upgrade our mirror and faucet purchase. Thanks to Julie we will with out a doubt return to this location for our future projects. read more

HD is very convenient to have around...It may be big and you can get lost looking for what you want, but for the most part the service is satisfactory to me and friendly...My complaint with this store has nothing to do with service and prices, but the odd fact that for some reason the NK store has a lot of things that are stocked in other HP stores that they don't carry...I recently found this out when looking up both a lawn mower, and kerosene for my heater....The mower I was interested in was in stock at the other nearby stores, but all I got for the NK one was "this store does not stock this item"...Not out of stock, but never stocked...I also found the same thing with both the kerosene in jugs and the Klean Fuel, an alternative brand...Both are carried in other stores but once again not stocked in NK...What the hell good is a HD in your town if they don't carry products that other sores do...Very frustrating....Do yourself a favor and make sure if you do any searches online for anything at HP to check out the store availability for the NK store...They seem for some reason to just not bother with certain items... read more
