I must admit. I was very frustrated while shopping for some cleaning products this weekend. I could not get a mop down that I needed. So I walked around the store looking for an associate to help. No one made eye contact and no one asked to help me. I was planning to bail but I decided that I would explain what happened to the manager. The manager that responded was named Hector. When I explained what happened he personally took me to the product and assisted in helping me. He listened to my experience, he apologized, gave me 50% off my items and a free floor cleaner of my choosing! By the time I went to check out his impeccable customer service deescalated my anger and frustration. This is what customer service is all about! I had a very good experience shopping in Home Depot this evening. I brought in a couple of pieces of old fencing that I needed to match up for replacement. I didn't know what kind of wood I was dealing with and I knew I was going to need to have them cut it for me there in the store. I had a young man named Alex help me. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He went above and beyond what I expected. He dug through the pile of available lumber to find the best pieces for my project. He then proceeded to measure and cut the wood that I purchased in the sizes that I needed. I was very impressed by the work ethic of this young man. Thank you very much Alex. read more

Today my husband and I went to make a simple return and stood watching three employees at a register basically talk back and forth while customers were waiting. Also, the employee who was helping another customer looked at us for 10 minutes before finally acknowledging us only to tell us we were standing in the wrong line. We moved to the correct line only to wait even more while said three employees continued to chat at a register and three other employees standing at their register helping nobody. The only employee that displayed exceptional customer service was the young woman who helped us with our return. If I were the manager, every one of those employees would be fired. I would be embarrassed to be the manager. Every one of those employees needs some serious customer service training. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I usually have good experience going to Home Depot. Today wasn't so good. I needed to make a return and the guy was so rude and rushing me. He didn't bother helping me with my return because because I lost my receipt. Turns out he was the manager, Joe. He left and the returns desk didn't have anyone there for a couple minutes. We recently purchased a Delta Tub and Wall combo at a Home Depot (HD) in Bakersfield, CA. The tub manufacturer, Delta, is careful about sealants and recommend only 4 specific products. I turned Bakersfield upside down to locate any of those types but had no success. Using the HD app I found that there were 20 tubes of one of the brands at the HD Porterville location. That's an hour and a half from my location but I would go there in order not to lose my plumbing crew so they could finish the installation. I called the store and Miguel in Paint diligently searched his store until he laid eyes and hands on 4 of those hard-to-find tubes. Miguel then went the extra mile and called me back to let me know he set them aside for me! Good service is expected but great service is rare and refreshing to find. read more

So we were driving through Porterville with the Rv thing and decided we needed to grab some odds and ends before we went camping, so we ended up at this joint. the facility was clean enough and the service was decent enough but there was not a "wow factor". Nothing to make me want to rate any higher or lower than a common 3 stars. Meh. read more

This is definitely the place the shop if you don't want to wear your mask. The staff really doesn't care. This is also the place to shop if you don't want help from the staff. They mostly just mind their own business and they're pretty good at passing you off to someone else to help instead. But that help never comes. read more

Came in today and had a man help us looking for a shade canopy. He went above and beyond to walk us to two different sections of the store and then also check on the computer. This is some of the best customer service I've ever got for a very simple product, he even recommended other places to possibly find what we were looking for since they didn't have it in stock. very not good my father goes there all the time due to a biz he owns and loves it . but also he never asks to get help as he knows what he wants and where it is. he uses self check out and normally spends a decent amount monthly. now I on the other hand have a rocky past due to drugs I say this due to I feel they single me and anyone who has to walk around a lot as a shop lifter. I went on May 14th around 9pm to go make a copy of a key that I needed. I waited about 10 minutes and no one came up to help me. I saw two lady's working at self checkout and that did not acknowledge us! I asked one of them for help, (she was an older women with curly hair) and she did not respond. I figured she did not hear me, but after a few more minutes I went back to ask the same older women and another associate for help and the older women clearly ignored what I said, but the other one said she would call someone. I find it very unprofessional to be talking away with the employees when you clearly see us waiting by the key machine. I waited almost 20 minutes for something that should of been less than 5 minutes of my time. read more

The best way to get customer service in this store is to walk in alone and being a white male. The crew of Hispanics will love to follow you around and ask you to leave. I told the guy who followed me around multiple times that I didn't need help, but he got extremely rude with me then had a manager ask me to leave since I didn't know what I was looking for. As a contractor for DirecTV in the past, I regret spending so much money at Home Depot. The Lowe's across the street is a lot more friendly and helpful. read more

For the first time I went to a Home Depot and it happened to be this one in Porterville. I'm disappointed to have a pretty horrible experience. Came to Home Depot to buy paint supplies. Walked back and forth in the paint aisle and was surprised at how many options I had. During my visit not a single person offered to help. A worker kept telling me she will help me but never did. As I waited she would return and said she will be back to help. Later I see the worker with two other workers standing and just chit chatting. I eventually asked for help and was told to go down to an aisle. Turns out what I was looking for was not in that aisle. Then asked for help from another associate and was sent to another aisle by myself which was also incorrect. Eventually I went through the aisles myself and found what I needed. Im disappointed that no one actually stopped to take me there to make sure the item was actually in the aisle. Or if they don't know they can just call and ask someone to confirm before sending me to the aisle. I wasted about 2hrs in the store. My advices to Home Depot: please don't think every customers know the layout of your store, don't expect every customer to be knowledgeable and profound in the products you carry, and please extend the power of customer service to your employees read more

Home Depot has been my choice for years over the competitor across the street but I will never use the company's online ordering system again. I placed an order for a speciality refrigerator on May 28, 2014. After multiple delays I finally got notice that the unit would finally arrive on July 7th. Unfortunately I was flying to the east coast later that day so I made a special trip down to the store to show them my delivery notification and was assured that it would be placed in the back of the store. I came home on July 18th in time to go to the Porterville store to pick up my order. They could't find the order even in the computer until I searched back on my phone and displayed my order confirmation. After an exhausted search of the store and multiple calls by a very sincere associate it was still no where tone found. I found another email where I could track the order and showed arrival now at July 22. When the associated called back to guaranteed the July 22 was the delivery date she was informed on the phone that the unit was scheduled to be delivered on the 7th. Was it delivered and sold? Did it make it off the truck? Needless to say I canceled the order and will never use their online service. read more

I went to Home Depot to make a few returns and the service was friendly with Lori. The I had to pick up materials from my shopping list I printed off the internet for a bottle rocket launcher, supposedly simple. The one time I needed an associate to help me most, no one seemed to pay any attention to me as it was somewhat busy that evening. I finally asked an associate, Barbara, and she didn't even look at me and answered grumpily telling me the aisle to find the product. I became frustrated and asked Mary and she had a positive attitude toward helping find what looked like a scavenger hunt list. But then she handed me off to someone else on his lunch and they both tried to help me but they had to leave....so they handed me to Jose in plumbing. He is now my HERO because not only did he try to help find the rest of the materials but later put it together for me as I returned from bringing an empty 2 liter bottle to test the fitting. I was pleasantly surprised at how motivated he was to making the launcher work!! Opening package after package I was a little concerned for paying for all the used parts he tried out for the launcher. Upon completion at 9:30 p.m., I asked how I would pay for all of it and he said it was on them!!! It was a donation to my classroom and or school since he knew it was for my class. It felt so amazing to have that not only donated but for someone to have put it together for me saving me several hours of headache and possibly $100 spent from trial and error. read more

Great place to shop! Employees will greet you by your name when you become a regular shopper!! People need to understand that you can't know everything in the store all associates have their own department and cashiers won't know every department or price of the thousands of items in the store. read more
