Brand new 2020 car needing to be repainted.
    Mebigusmall123 ..

On April 10th during the Covid crisis I went to Home Depot to get a plunger. I parked my step fathers brand new car in a empty spot, in an empty section of the lot that belongs to Home Depot. I come back to the car after shopping at Home Depot and sit in it with the door closed, not even starting my engine yet. A shopping cart comes out of the far end of the parking lot being blown like 20 mph, boom right into the side of the drivers side door. I then try to call the police but it's during the height of NYC Covid epidemic and they aren't going to come for a low priority. I walk into Home Depot and get a report made my the very nice manager. I explained that I don't want to be a pain but the car is brand new and not mine. She says don't worry they have a claim department for this and she understands why I would make a report. She comes out to take pictures etc. I also pointed out that The incident is clearly on the camera that they have facing the lot if they care to check it. So long story short their insurance company offers me 400$ as a customer service curtesy, which I was happy about till I got an estimate. I called back to explain and offer pictures and estimates but they won't take responsibility or even look at the home depot camera, and say it could have hypothetically been damaged already. It's a Covid epidemic and they insinuate I came out to make a false report? For dents? But won't check the Home Depot camera? I was hoping to use dent-less paint removal but the bottom dent is too sharp. The paint is white pearl and will need to be blended, and thus both doors need to be painted and I was quoted 850$ or more from the 2 shops I went to. So the moral of the story is don't park nice things in a Home Depot parking lot or expect their insurance company or them to be moral. I've never seen a heavy shopping cart that could roll freely at high speeds, probably because stores know better through injury etc. 850$ out of my pocket to fix a car that was standing still on Home Depot Property and was damaged by more of their property. I will probably not take their 400$ just on principle. I am going to try and have my insurance company handle it for the piece of mind, it might cost me more but at least I will have piece of mind. I will show pictures below, keep in mind the car doesn't even have permanent plates yet because it was so new and just leased.

This place is a zoo. If you can avoid going here, and taking an extra couple miles into consideration for the Home Depot on Forest Ave., you'd be doing yourself a favor. Waited on Electrical help for nearly 30 minutes. Got stories from management such as not knowing who's on shift, people being out of the building, and out of touch with their shift supervisors. Overall, terrible experience. Will never give my business to this branch again.

The cashier, Rachelle was the most disrespectful rude associate I've ever met. Definitely need to screen your hires better.

It's very big. Can get lost very easily. There were not a lot of employees around to help. But I have to say tho it was super clean.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Three years after hiring General Lumber, we're still dealing…read morewith the consequences of their poor workmanship and lack of accountability. We selected General Lumber after comparing several companies, trusting Robert--our main point of contact--who repeatedly assured us, "We're local and not going anywhere." That promise quickly unraveled. We hired them to order Marvin windows and manage installation for 17 windows across two units in our building. They were not the cheapest, but we chose them based on their claim of experience and quality. During installation, Robert and his contractor decided to alter the placement of the windows without understanding the original design intent or performing any verification. They admitted they "didn't understand" why our previous windows were placed where they were--but moved forward anyway. We trusted them as the supposed experts. That was a costly mistake. Shortly after installation, water began leaking into both units and the shared lobby during rainstorms. These areas had never experienced water intrusion in the five years prior to the install. We raised the issue immediately in September 2021. Robert visited once, performed a cursory visual inspection, and began a months-long pattern of excuse-making and blame-shifting. He variously blamed a "once-in-a-lifetime storm," the cornice, and our roof--none of which stood up to basic scrutiny or third-party inspections. Instead of acknowledging the problem or investigating further, Robert and General Lumber resorted to misinformation and deflection. At one point, they claimed water wasn't entering "through or around" their installation--ignoring the fact that they had changed the physical placement of the windows, which compromised drainage and blocked weep holes. Our own hose testing demonstrated conclusively that water was entering above the windows--exactly where they sealed over a critical drainage gap. General Lumber refused to take accountability, perform any real diagnostics, or even revisit the job site for follow-up testing. When we withheld the final payment due to unresolved issues, they threatened us with legal action and filed a lien against our property. We went to arbitration. My husband, with no legal training, meticulously presented our evidence. Robert and his legal team were unprepared. Their entire defense relied on vague references to extreme weather and unverified claims--while we provided photographic evidence, water test results, contractor correspondence, and expert confirmations. The arbitrator ruled in our favor. The outcome? We still have 12 faulty windows that will need to be completely redone at a cost of $12,000 or more--on top of the $28,000 we already paid General Lumber. Robert and his team never stood by their work, never offered a solution, and used legal threats to try and silence us. This has been a nightmare of wasted time, money, and stress. If you're considering General Lumber--especially if you're trusting Robert to stand by his word--proceed with caution. They talk a good game about being "local" and reputable. But when things go wrong, they disappear, deflect, and leave you to pick up the pieces.
