Terrible Home Depot, I used to go there for things I needed for my house and the kids workshop DIY. However, whenever I went to the workshops, a woman named Barbara would not allow me to get the kids even when I showed her my email confirmation and a screenshot of the number of kits I signed up for, for my kids. Sometimes one of my children would be at their sport or sick at home. Barbara said I needed to have both kids with me in order to get the kits. When I had both kids with me, Barbara would tell me I'm not allowed to take the workshop DIY kits when my kids had their sports to do. I confirmed with Home Depot's corporate and this is NOT true and I was free to take the kits with me to go. I then went to one of theCheck out employees to ask them if they knew where I can find plumbing and they told me that they don't deal with that‍..After 20 minutes of scouring I found someone who walked me over to the plumbing supplies only to find out that they didn't carry any of the supplies that I needed. My elderly mom and I were looking for flooring on a Tuesday night. Unlike the forest Ave location, none of the tiles were on display and worse there was not one person to help us except for one guy who was clearly busy loading items and operating a forklift. In my desperation I bothered him and he was nice enough To stop what he was doing. He also couldn't find what we're looking for but when others who would just say " We're out" he asked for a sku number. Turns out they had it but it was in a palette all the way to top. He grabbed his forklift and brought it down for us. Best of all, the item was discontinued and on clearance. Another lady came to help . They were both very nice. I have been here a few times to purchase various things including long fluorescent light bulbs for my kitchen, mosquito repellent for my in laws, and an impulse purchase of two American flags on Memorial Day for my niece and nephew at less than a buck each. God Bless 'Murica. The customer service we received here was great and has been consistent on multiple trips. First, we had to buy the lights. We brought a blown out bulb for reference. An employee helped us find what we needed right away. We proceeded to a painless self check out. We got home and realized we bought too many. Returning the surplus was equally as painless - but we did have our receipts. Pro tip: always save your receipts, at least for a little while. I ordered a Weber genesis S435 stainless steel grill natural gas from this home depot on July 3 with the written agreement that the grill would be assembled. On July 23 after many delays they advised that it may be delivered on July 26 3 pieces! ( Unassembled). I am in the processing of concealing this order as they cannot deliver product as agreed upon. I am abhorred by the treatment I have received from Home Depot thus far. I am a Pro customer under the Xtra Loyalty Program and I was hoping to remodel a closet but by the way Home Depot has treated me as a customer, why wouldn't I take my business elsewhere...I made a consultation appointment over two weeks ago for a specialist to come in and give me a quote for my closet, discuss options, and talk through my needs. The individual who was booked never came in, never called and I missed an entire day of work pay because I was waiting for him to come. I decided to give Home Depot another chance and booked another appointment because I do al my shopping at Home Depot and am a loyal customer. I made an appointment with another person who called me two hours before our scheduled time to come early, and when I couldn't, he asked me to make my appointment virtual out of convenience for him. I agreed because I'm an understanding person, but then he asked me to measure the closet myself? Why am I doing work for your consultants? The whole point of that one hour session is for the person to come to my house, take the measurements needed, discuss options that cater to my needs, and put together a quote. That is not how you do business. Regardless, I sent him the measurements and was waiting for the Zoom link he promised to send me for my 7:30pm appointment. The appointment time came and once again I was never called or consulted. Nobody showed up and I had no zoom link. I called customer service by 8:30PM and a representative said she would get in contact with this individual immediately, and she did. He called me back a few minutes later saying he forgot the appointment time. He said he would get back to me in a couple of hours with a quote (it was already 9:00PM). This is extremely unprofessional and I should not be getting contacted in the middle of the night. We never even discussed anything - how is he sending me a quote when I didn't tell him what color I want, how many drawers, the structure, etc? Why am I not valued as a customer and why are my appointments not taken seriously? I called and asked to speak to a supervisor the next day and I was connected with Omar. Omar assured me that someone would contact me within 24 hrs with an appointment time, a consultation and a way to make me satisfied. Ten days have passed since then with no consultation appointment, no call from Omar and no appointment time given. I am baffled with how unprofessional a large company like Home Depot is. The way they treat their customers is disgusting and there is not a single person that I spoke to who took my concern seriously. The fact that I have to write a complaint like this for a service I have never received is a waste of my time. This company has cost me two days of pay, wasted countless hours of my time with going back and forth with people who do not take their job seriously. Customer satisfaction is clearly not important to this organization. I urge you to hire competent individuals who will be professional, keep their appointment times and leave their customers happy. Where do I start? April 2016 bought a brand new hvac system from Home Depot and had it installed by subcontractor sent through Home Depot. Nothing but problems from day 1. Turned on ac for the 1st time on 6/2016 immediately froze. Home depot sent company that installed it to fix problem, after 4 different technicians and 5 different visits finally worked properly. Next summer turned it on same problem again. Had the northeast rep from rheem come to my house, they moved the unit out from under my deck and adjusted the motor speed and it worked. Turned it on end of May this year froze up again. Home Depot sent tech and said thermostat problem, since it is a con ed thermostat called con ed and they fixed problem, week later and unit froze again, now Home Depot wants me to pay $500 to replace unit, unreal if they don't fix problem once and for all might have to get legal representation read more

I had a horrible experience at the Cropsey Avenue location in Brooklyn (I wrote a review for that one, too) and decided to try out the one on the island. I wasn't disappointed and will definitely shop here again. I ordered an air conditioner online for store pickup at 8:30 this morning. By 9:30, it was ready for me. I ordered a toilet seat and was told i could pick it up curbside if i wanted. I agreed. this is during the COVID -19 pandemic. I called again at 5:30 pm since the store would close at 6pm and was told pick up was until 8 pm and i would be contacted to pick up by 8 pm. At 7:30 i received a text that my order was cancelled. I had already thrown out the old toilet seat. The store was closed. Text messaging is suspended at this time. I called 1-800-430-3376 customer service and was left on hold. This review is for both the physical store and for my online shopping experience. I have been to this store many times and I would say that you need to come here knowing what you need and what it's used for. My husband and I have looked up many things on YouTube as new homeowners. Many of these big-box stores just don't offer the same customer service you would have found in a mom and pop store like Doody's Hardware. Home Depot is a large store, and the experience is impersonal with a lack of service. Not every employee is unwilling to help but most are. In my experience, Lowe's seems to be better in terms of helpful customer service. With all that said, if you are somewhat knowledgable about home improvement, you will be okay shopping in the store. Shopping on their website is another story. We recently purchased a portable air conditioning unit on Home Depot's website for our attic and I was very disappointed with the overall quality of it. The unit, which was an LG 12,000 BTU AC, was too large for us to fit in our car so we had it delivered. It did not cool off the room at all and was only taking up space. I feel like I would have better luck freezing a few bottles of water and sticking them in front of a fan. After a few hours of giving it a try, my husband and I decided to pack it up and return it. After several phone calls and being put on hold for what felt like an eternity, my husband was eventually able to schedule a pick up to return the air conditioner. The day of the pick-up, no one called and my husband called the store and was given the run-around. To make a long story short, they never put us on the pick-up schedule. I couldn't believe it...I never saw that one coming! After rectifying their mistake, it was finally picked up and brought back to the store by a Home Depot employee. For some unknown reason, we weren't given any kind of documentation showing that the item was in fact, returned and we would be refunded the money. My husband contacted the store more than once before and after the air conditioner was returned in an attempt to find out when we would be given a refund. We were told by a female employee that she would process the return once the unit arrived to the store but that did not happen. More than once, we had the opportunity to speak with a few employees who were quite intelligent and competent *ISH - insert sarcasm here.* We did however find two employees near the end of our experience to be somewhat helpful. In the end, we had to drive across the borough to go to the store in-person for a full refund and final resolution of this very entangled process. read more

I seriously would give -0 stars if I could, ordered a patio slider door on April 18th from Geraldine who by the way is less than useless all she cares about is her god dam sales, waited over 3 + months for the door to arrive at the Home Depot location, this was due to Geraldine who was so wonderful at her job submitted the PO WRONG, after the week the door sat in the receiving area my husband called to ask where is the door, our response oh its been here for a week glad they have a top grade A receiving manager doing there job, NOT. Now onto the best part of this miserable experience After speaking with the installer for Anderson he says he's 4 weeks behind so we settle one July 5th, they arrive, we are already for the door to finally be installed - NOT - The blinds to the door are all bent the mechanism is off totally broken - guess who handles the line in Anderson as well as receiving should be fired because they all suck at there job to have this door be delivered like it was. Still not done with this miserable experience Of course we call up and complain goes without saying since I know where management was hired from part of a year up program. Linda from the Home Depot Charleston store useless. I can go one for days on the customer service support we got it was horrible. no manager does there job. all they do is smoke outside or leave the customer hanging on the line. After waiting another 4 weeks the door was finally delivered to the home dept store - not one phone call until after we went in there to see what the story was when we came across another year up manager who was bull shitting his was though this absurd experience. Omg if I could give 0 stars I would. I will never ever shop there again. I purchased a washer and dryer. When it was delivered the dryer was missing a leg and bracket that holds it in place. I was told the installers will have it, what did I know. I call the installers they said no, who told you that. I called the store, no one answers the phone! Not one department or customer service. I tried for hours and finally made the trip there. It took forever before anyone tried to help me. They gave me legs off a model that looked like they were chewed by my dog and had the nerve to say they were good! Not when you're spending that kind of money! I took them home and they weren't even the right legs!Finally they ordered new ones. Next problem, I informed the store during the purchase that I had recently purchased new washer hoses, gas line for the dryer and didn't need a stacking kit. They said ok. Installers came and refused to install unless everything was new from the store. I call the store and again no one answers, again after hours I had to go in person and got no where. Finally I called corporate head quarters and filed a complaint and that's where we stand now, after 2 weeks of having a washer and dryer blocking my stove and dining room. I've had to drop my laundry off at the laundromat and spend a fortune. It's been 2 weeks of take out food in the living room! I'm done! We have purchased a Webber grill from our local The Home Depot just to realize that the store is selling aTWO-year old version in the store as well as a new and improved grill on their website. There is no discount offered for the older version, and really there no description stating that this is no longer in production. Also, we paid $20 for home delivery, but you have to be available from9 to 5 to accept it. Even on the day of delivery, the store can not tell you when the merchandise will be delivered. When we brought the grill back, it have taken a few minute for somebody in customer service to give us their attention. And they were NOT understaffed .... read more

Pretty poor store, even compared to similar HD's. Sure, you can still find an actual helpful, knowledgeable people working there, BUT even they most likely won't be able to help you due to things like messed-up inventory and store shelves. I went there some time ago to look up the specific plumbing part (which was supposed to be "in stock", according to HD's website), couldn't find it (but noticed how "messy" the particular store shelf was, with parts from multiple nearby boxes mixed randomly together), asked the person who was working there to help me, she did try to find it on the shelves where the item was supposed to be located but also couldn't do it, then she also commented on the mess of different parts from different boxes mixed in together, afterwards she tried to go to the stock room, came back and said for some reason they don't have it in stock anymore. Even though the website claimed they did... Another time I went in to buy a few LED bulbs (which can be found cheaper elsewhere but I needed them the same day). Picked a couple of Philips LED lightbulb packs, mistakenly didn't check their contents while being in store BUT when I opened the packs at home - inside one of them was a less powerful, cheaper CCFL bulb... So yea, just another example of how poorly this store manages/checks their own inventory. All in all, definitely try to avoid it (or any other local HD stores) if you can find same or similar part/item online. Sure, returning items is much easier to local, "offline" store BUT the wasted time and money (in most cases you can find similar parts elsewhere, for cheaper price) cannot really offset that single positive aspect. read more

This place is extremely unreliable and does not care about customer satisfaction at all. I called weeks ago to order a barbecue so it would be here in time for Father's Day, when I spoke with someone from customer service I specifically asked to have my barbecue assembled. The person I spoke with insisted that it would not be an issue and all I had to do was call up when my order was ready for pick up and ask for it be assembled. Today, I was notified that it was ready to be picked up so I called as I was instructed to do and asked to have the barbecue assembled. The woman I spoke with at customer service was extremely rude, incompetent, and unhelpful from the second she answered the call. I explained to her that I needed it assembled and that I was told to simply call when it came in. She replied with "well I understand that someone told you that but right now all orders will take a minimum of four weeks to be assembled." I explained to her that I spoke with someone weeks ago and no one ever mentioned this to me. She did not care or even ask me for my order info. She also did not apologize even once and simply said well we can cancel your order but there's no way it will be ready sooner than that. I insisted that it was ridiculous that no one told me this during my original call as I would have not placed the order in the first place, I would have instead ordered from a much more reliable hardware store which is clearly any of their competitors. I strongly recommend that you do not order things from this Home Depot. They are unreliable and just flat out rude. read more
