I am absolutely flabbergasted by the behavior from the owner of this company. He came out the first time and second time and all was great. The first meeting he told me to change the soap. I did and waited a couple months with leaking happening every single time I ran it. The second visit today went great, BUT the dishwasher didn't leak until he walked out the door. I simply text his so he knew and figured I would reschedule him to come out. He responded with " I am wasting his time and to find someone else that knows what they are doing". Mark at Carlson was able to diagnose and fix the microwave in our Kitchenaid oven/microwave combo, apparently known for being notoriously difficult to repair. Two other local repair businesses refused to work on the product, one indicated it would be a two man job and the other even referred us over to Carlson. Mark came over and knew exactly what he was doing. He was familiar with the product and understood the difficulty in pulling out the oven combo and even had a special platform to do it as a one-person job. Mark seems to be a very experienced technician, not like those fresh out of school technician you get when calling one of those corporate appliance repair businesses. Even though it was expensive to repair, I felt the amount charged was reasonable and certainly less expensive than buying a new microwave/oven combo. read more

Not only did he fix the leak but also addressed the door that was not closing properly when a previous computer board was replaced. The guy who came was very pleasant and knowledgeable. They're several weeks into a simple repair and still no closer to getting my newer appliance back up and running. I'm told when the parts arrive it will be "likely" a week for them to get me on schedule for the install. I must wait 1 week after the parts arrive? Why am I not expedited to the top of the appointment scheduling? Mind you I'm located 10 minutes from their office. Looking on YouTube shows the installation takes less than 30 minutes for the average Joe. I should have listened to my gut and on my first call with Jeff, hung up and called another company. Their policy is that Mark makes all the decisions and is not available for calls when he's not physically present in the office, which is never. Jeff (good cop) takes your inquiry and informs you he will get back to you the following day upon talking to Mark (bad cop). The following day, if your blessed enough to receive a call back, if you have any more questions...guess what? Jeff will forward them to Mark and get back to you the following day. Scroll on the internet for appliance repairs companies located in or around Conejo Valley. Anyone you find will be far superior to Carlson. read more

Owner came out and worked on my dishwasher for less than an hour, no fix. Said there was no issue. Ran a test cycle when he left and it's still not working. Called them back and He refuses to come back and look at it again. Clearly he is only interested in making money on warranty service calls and does not actually care about repairing appliances. Not the service it used to be. Generally you get voicemail when you call even during business hours and then getting a reply is only if you are patient. And then getting a follow up to fix the problem is the next step. All in all, it's just not worth the effort of the continued chasing. When the older lady was around and answered the phone, things got done! Not anymore Such a shame. read more

A service appointment was made and due to a mistake from the office they did not show up during the scheduled window of time. Instead of apologizing the owner was aggressive, defensive and rude. Mistakes can happen however it is the responsibility of the owner to take responsibility for it and apologize. Horrible experience. read more

We have a dishwasher that was leaking soaking under our sink and under the dishwasher. We could smell the mold. Pulled out the dishwasher to clean the mold and dry out the wood in those places. The following Monday (holiday weekend) our landlord called to get a repair. We are told they won't touch it because we uninstalled it to clean the mold and dry the space. I have major health issues with mold exposure so we can't let a problem like that sit for a week before we can get a repair. Absolutely shameful treatment of regular customers (my landlord owns several rentals so is a regular customer). Others need to know this is how business is done by them. I do NOT recommend this repair company due to not considering circumstances of each case. Mold is dangerous and sound not be allowed to harbor in a home while waiting on a repair person to come take a look. read more

terrible experience - our 10 year old washer was shaking and making a lot of noice, they said it was just a part that needed replacing. After 2 visits and 670.00 the same shaking continued (with grey pieces of insulation material littering our clothes) and they told us it was "user error" - that we didn't know how to load the clothes. The machine quickly became unusable (the whole house shook). I phoned to tell them that in the future, people should be informed and given a choice when the "part" cost is almost as much as a new machine. I highly recommend Carlson All Appliance for large appliance repairs. Recently my Maytag washer had two major mechanical problems and kept breaking down. Mr. Carlson came once for the repair, ordered the needed part, and returned three more times as my machine kept working, then not working from multiple problems. He was patient, courteous, professional, and fairly priced. He did not charge me for the third and fourth visit , despite the fact that he spent an hour or two each time taking apart the machine to diagnose the multiple problems. He easily could have become rude or charged me for the extra visits, given the complicated and annoying nature of my washer problems. I have had those type of negative experiences in the past with other repair businesses. Instead he kept his cool and put in maximum effort and maintained a professional demeanor and gave me an honest appraisal of the situation. Ripoff Service call to fix the Cooktop exhaust vent after looking for 5 minutes Mark advised to replace motor. He left leaving everything open and to call next day with a price quote. Called next day and quoted a price 3 times the price of part and not professional at all. I took the part to Miracle Appliances in TO and the gentlemen tested it before selling a new one. To my amazement he said the part is functioning perfectly fine. When I asked the Mark to reinstall the unit the way it was. He declined. read more

Stay away from this guy, this company. Far away. Total scam. I kept looking around thinking I might see Chris Hanson and Dateline NBC but I wouldn't get that lucky. This guy, Mark Carlson takes a look at my washer, tells me it is the drain pump that is broken. So far so good. He says he may have one in his truck, goes out to check. I am on my laptop anyway so I do a quick check of the pumps and their costs. $35-$100 is what I find. Re-enter Mark, who does the old "I've got good news and bad news" routine. Good news, he just happens to have one on him. Bad news. $321 to install it. (The washer was only $375 new 18 months earlier) So now I show my obvious surprise and he immediately gets defensive about why he would quote me such a high price. "This is the ONLY pump in the universe that could fit this washer", etc. I say, pass. He says that by doing a 20 second google search that I am questioning his integrity. I say, certainly not when I did the search, just trying to educate myself and make an informed buying decision....but, guess what Mark, I am questioning your integrity now. I absolutely understand and support small business people's need to make a fair profit. 100% back that. What I have no patience for is what certainly appears to be a predatory approach to making that profit. Capitalizing on the consumer's lack of knowledge to make that profit higher than fair market value. End of story. Mark left. Got his $30 buck house call fee and I got the pump installed for less than half what he quoted. read more

I am a fan and I would refer them to anyone having trouble with an appliance. We called because our washer stopped finishing the spin cycle. There was a lot of water left in the bottom of the machine. Mark came out within 2 days and not only told me what was happening but also talked to me about recommended products for my dishwasher. He ordered the part, explained to me why it might be failing and that it might not show up all the time. He was right, it worked fine after he left but it had been on and off before that. He came in and took apart the pump and showed me how it was just old, gunked up and would have failed very very soon. I appreciated the time he took to explain things. I would recommend them to anyone who needs help keeping their appliances running. read more

Over the last few years he had repaired a couple of our refrigerators and did an excellent job at a reasonable price. Recently the door spring of our built-in microwave broke, and he came out to replace it, charging a fair price as always. Somehow the new spring didn't completely hold, however, and I scheduled another appointment for an adjustment. I had to cancel at the last minute and told his office I would reschedule when I had the chance. I forgot to do that, and his office phoned ME a few days later to reschedule, with Mark showing up promptly, as always, to adjust the spring, at no additional charge. It took over 2 1/2 months to get my microwave repaired. Told me I had to give them my credit card over the phone so they could order parts then they had no record of charging my card. I had to keep calling them for status on my microwave. When it was done the paperwork only had the date on the day I picked it up not the original day I dropped it off but they had my info somewhere to call me back??? Couldn't find the paperwork or my credit card info. I brought in a clean white microwave and it was returned to me filthy. We wanted to support a local business but now I wish I hadn't. read more

I read the one-star reviews and I am surprised. Mark has repaired some of my appliances. I also bought a washer from him. I have always gotten good, honest service. I highly recommend him. He goes the extra mile and tries to educate me as to what went wrong and why. As to his parts being expensive, I don't know. I do know he has to make a living. If you get a part on Amazon and have him install it, he can't be expected to warranty the part. That is how it is with plumbers, electricians, etc. You may pay less for the part on Amazon or ?, but it could come back to bite you on the hinny. That has happened to me pre Mark. The support bracket in the rear wasn't going to fit my granite backsplash, so he took it home and modified it. I was installed the next day, all right and tight. My wife and I have been using Carlson Appliance Repair for more than 14years. Mark has always been there on time. His quotes for parts and labor are fair for the time he spends working on our appliances. He has repaired our washer several times in the 15 years that we've had it. Same with our refrigerator and dryer. He has never misquoted prices, or done anything unethical, or has he or his store staff been anything but respectful and friendly. What I especially like about Mark is that while making his repairs to our machines, he educates me on which brands have the least amount of problems, which makes and models have hard to get parts, and he is helpful with advice for using machines properly to work better and last longer. You can't ask for anything more than that. I respect Mark for the honest man that he is and consider him friend. I'd love to have neighbors like him. And he does come to Simi Valley to make house calls. I will be lost when he retires. read more

Mark from Carlson called 15 minutes before arrival time, arrived on time, immediately introduced himself. this is a review from actually many years ago. seeing sue c's review reminded me...used carlson appliance ages ago to fix the oven. it was a mess. the gas line ruptured or something. i remember my son freaking out seeing a flame..where there shouldnt be a flame. luckily we shut down the gas line. i remember them as being awesome, and saved his card. if i should ever have any problems in my new location and city, i would definitely call them. wonder if he goes to simi valley? bet they do.. read more

But, had Carlson Appliance come fix a garbage disposal and it worked when the repairman left but it stopped working within 2 weeks. I called to ask what to do and the woman on the phone was rude and told me they would charge another service call and I should call someone else. I have a Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator Freezer that quit on me. Being it's a Kenmore I called Sears and was told they couldn't come out for four days.
