My luck has great timing. Last week, just when the heatwave was due to arrive, my fridge decided to die. So, heatwave coming, holiday weekend, and lots of food in the fridge and freezer. Needed to get a replacement, and quickly. I headed to Home Depot and looked around. The associate (Dan) who helped me select a fridge was very patient with me as I looked through a whole bunch of models. He also told me the most important thing wasn't the dimensions of the space where the fridge will be, but the dimensions of the pathway. Seems obvious, but I hadn't thought about that, so I'm glad he reminded me. I was ready to settle on one that was nearly what I wanted, but not exactly. Dan took the extra minute to search for if there was one that had exactly the features I wanted. Turns out, there is; they just don't have that one on the floor. So, I ended up ordering it (an LG LF25H6330S, for anyone who's curious). Delivery happened today (July 6). You know, after all the really sunny days we've been having...hey look, pouring rain when I get delivery (like I said, my luck has great timing). Asian household, so my house is shoes off indoors, but I'm not going to force deliverymen on a schedule to do that (it did leave me with a 1 hr clean and disinfect to do afterwards, though); especially since they're moving a 265 lb fridge in place for me, and taking out my old fridge. These deliverymen were fast. They were in and out within the hour. All-in-all, it was a great experience. Oh, for anyone who's curious about an LG LF25H6330S. So far, it seems like a decent fridge. My previous fridge was OLD old, and before a lot of power savings measures became standard features. And I'm not sure I like some of these power savings. When first plugged in, the compressor just kind of putted along and it took forever for it to actually start cooling down the inside of the fridge. My old fridge would go from room temp to -7 in 30 minutes. Oh, also, this fridge will get scratched if you fart the wrong direction. It is not a durable finish by any means. I already put a scratch in it by sliding a fridge magnet on it. That said, I still love the fridge, as my old fridge was a side-by-side configuration, and those things should be illegal, as far as I'm concerned. Any fridge where you can't put a pizza inside horizontally should be be banned. read more

He was able to get many of the things he wanted. During checkout, almost all of the open registers are now Self Checkout. Only the contractor area has a live check out person.... Awful! I bought a generator and didn't end up needing it. I went back to the store within 14 days with my receipt, the unopened box and credit card I used to purchase the item. They refused my return and said they recently changed their return policy on generators to 7 days although that was never specified when purchasing the item. The manager at this store refused to assist in any capacity. I've been a customer of this store for decades and have spent tens of thousands of dollars here when renovating my house. It is unconscionable that they would treat a loyal, paying customer this way. Everyone beware and stay away from this greedy store that does not care about its customers in the slightest. read more

Visited the Westerly location on 10/5/23 to purchase 8 gift cards only to find that only gift cards available were for Christmas or a few special occasions. I needed generic Home Depot gift cards but I guess they don't believe in those. Not one was able to be located in store and each associate I spoke to had a different "story" why they didn't have them. The best response from the associate was that they wouldn't be in stock again until after Christmas... seriously? Then I asked to speak with the manager who said I guess they are sold out when another associate chimed in they were ordered. So I asked the manager when they'd be in... he said they were ordered Tuesday and it takes 5 days. I left my number... let's see if I get a call and the 8 I needed are put aside for me. read more

I went to buy plants, mulch and pavers today. The selection was pretty good considering yesterday was Mother's Day. The service however was terrible. I was in a very long line in the outdoor garden department, when the person in front of me got to the register, the cashier began huffing and puffing at me and told me the woman she was cashing out was her last customer. I said I have been in line for 10 minutes. She said I don't care I have to go home, you need to get in another line. I was shocked. She covered her name tag with her hair and ran off. She was short with long curly hair and glasses. This was noon time on 5/14/24. The other line was very long, as I finally got to the register for the second time, the cashier Barbara was very nice to me and apologized for the nasty woman. I got in my car and immediately called to speak to a manager to lodge a complaint. I was told they were all at lunch, was promised a call back, which never happened. If I didn't need the items I was purchasing for a project I would have left it all there. I think it's worth the drive to Lowe's from now on. read more

Got quoted for a basic run of the mill exterior door replacement. Ended up paying 50% more for nothing extra requested. Tried to cancel installation and was told couldn't ( even though it was still a month away) and now they say we could have. Overcharged for permit plus a ridiculous "Admin" fee for company doing installation to go online and take 5 minutes. Would never consider Home Depot for any "services" again. read more

The Home Depot used to care about their customers and the work they put out. Now, I'm not so sure. The Home Depot in Westerly RI was taking care of installing my tile and hardwood flooring. They outsource to US Installations Group in Attleboro, MA. When they came to install my hardwood flooring the technician installed it incorrectly. They never took off the old trim, put hardwood flooring down and then put white scuffed molding and wood molding down. It looked horrible and very inconsistent around the room. Pictures to follow. I called US Installations Group and the project coordinator said it was installed correctly. The technician said it was installed correctly. I sent pictures to contractors, friends and family and EVERYONE agreed that the floors looked sloppy and put in incorrectly. They couldn't believe that's a company would install something like that for one of their customers. Where are the values and morals you learned when you were 5 years old? When a customer is not satisfied with the product they had installed because it was not put in correctly, then listen to them. Customers are important for business. When did companies start arguing with the customer? It is very unprofessional. Home Depot and US Installation group need to listen to their costumers instead of being so narcissistic that they have to always be right. The end result: NOT FINISHED. Home Depot and US Installations Group did not coordinate the schedule properly with the customer. As a business, your customer is always number one and you listen to them. If they are not satisfied with the service, make them satisfied. It's called customer service. I am completely disappointed in Home Depot and US Installations Group. read more

I guess the thing with Home Depot that never changes is that it NEVER changes. I'm torn at whether that's a good thing or not. I feel like it is and it isn't. I like being able to know where things are without a store rearranging things every year, but it does add to that stale mall-like feel. what annoys me.. -the older woman that acts like a salesmen at the checkout at the far end of the store -while some customer service is ok, some flat stinks -lacking the selection of specific things and lacking a comfortable feel like a mom-and-pop what is good.. -most things are better priced than Ace -tool rental equipment is pretty good -selection is decent read more

The Home Depot - Hardware Stores Near Me - Westerly, Rhode Island

While I'd rather go to the Ace across the street most of the time, this Home Depot isn't such a disaster. Yes, it's huge but they have you covered with almost all of your home improvement wants: if you need it then they probably have it. Our family has used it in the past to purchase a riding mower & pellets by the ton with no problems. We used them to purchase fencing for our backyard & got great personal service even after some small delivery problems completely unrelated to this location. I would totally use them again. It's not always easy to find what you're looking for & sometimes it's tougher to find someone to assist but I've had enough positive experiences to outweigh a few negative. Plus it seems they don't have such a high turnover as I recognize many of the same faces on each new trip there. read more

Unfortunately Home Depot seems to be getting worse. I don't want to blame the staff because they're just hard-working people like you and I. But they are obviously not trained well. Just drove out 40 minutes to rent a lift we had called to make sure they had the night before. The older man who was running the rental department had no idea that the wire had been crushed and the hitch was pinched. Not only was one of the two they had broken, but after 45 minutes of not knowing what he was doing he proceeded to tell use he couldn't rent the lift out because it was also broken. Complete and total waste of time because the head of the department had no idea what was going on, and had no ability or knowledge to fix the issue. I was in their store over the weekend to purchase a Christmas gift for my husband. I knew he wanted a cordless drill and I knew the brands he preferred but I had no idea which was the best value for what he wanted/needed. My daughter and I were fortunate enough to come upon a gentleman by the name of John. Older gentleman, kind demeanor, knowledgeable and patient. As we all know, not all customer service representatives are made equal. This was proven, once again, thanks to John's exemplary customer service. He took the time to explain the difference between brushless and non-brushless, the differences in the items I was looking at. Every question I had, he answered honestly and intelligently. I have to say, that was the single BEST experience I've ever had in a Home Depot. So, for that.....today's review gets 5 stars. read more

DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT IN WESTERLY!!!!! One word.... Actually two: incompetence & rudeness. I Purchased a refrigerator and a washing machine along with all of the necessary hoses and asked for an install as an option as well as a haul away for both old appliances and added ice maker. I got home and realized that the invoice was incorrect. There was one haul away missing, there was no ice maker, and there were two hoses (I was asked to choose one option but both ended up being included in the invoice). Had I not looked at the invoice, the delivery vendor would have come and left one appliance behind (because I didn't pay for a 2nd haul away) and there would have been no icemaker in my refrigerator (because it wasn't on the order). Because the employee screwed it up. I called back the next day and a nice woman offered to cancel the entire order and reinput what I had actually ordered. since I used a 24 month financing coupon for a purchase already, it was no longer valid so there were some red tape to get through. She said she would email me the invoice since I was out of town & would need the "correct" version upon delivery but the email never came. I called back the next day, was put on hold, and then was disconnected. I finally got a hold of the manager and explained the situation and he didn't even let me finish my story. He interrupted me and asked me what the invoice number was so he can look it up & said he would call me back. I finally decided to drive down to the store and ask for a printed copy. The manager who handled the request acted like I was inconveniencing HIM. When I mentioned that I had called the store four times for this (what was supposed to be a) simple purchase, he did a slow rude turn away from the computer (as if he were rolling his eyes) and looked at me blankly. He printed the invoice and handed it to me without even saying: we apologize for the inconvenience. Delivery was scheduled for April 30. I had a family emergency the night before and called to cancel the delivery and they still came so I had to rush home to be there for the delivery. Turns out the icemaker that was ordered was incorrect. I called Home Depot to let them know and they said they did order the correct icemaker and sent out another installer who showed up and told me the same thing. Wrong icemaker. I tried to return the icemaker to Home Depot and they told me to hang onto it. I then was told that I have to order my own icemaker and the Home Depot website doesn't even except Home Depot credit cards. Really? Ordered the icemaker. It arrived at my home. Tried calling Home Depot back to schedule an install and four days of calling. No one ever called me back. Meanwhile the invoice shows that the install was complete. This nightmare has been going on for three weeks in the middle of it all, I had to race back and forth out of state to be by my dying mother's bedside and try to plan a funeral while dealing with this incompetence and taking extra time to make phone calls, drive to the store, wait at home for installers, etc. I spent over $1,400 at that store in a matter of 10 minutes and never once got an apology for the screw up & for the inconvenience. And when I was in the process of purchasing the appliances, another worker came over to explain a complaint from another customer who said: I can't handle incompetence. So apparently they screwed up her order as well. That should have been a warning sign! I've never seen this kind of rudeness or incompetence at any other Home Depot. Next time I'll make the trip and drive to Lowe's in Warwick! This has been a complete nightmare and no one wants to take responsibility. The westerly store told me to call customer care and corporate. Corporate tells me to call the Westerly store. NEVER IN MY LIFE have I experienced this kind of incompetence in any business! Don't go here for mower or weed wacker repair. They claimed they do all services. But they only supposedly have one tech who works early during the day 6-3 and not on weekends. So unless you want to take the day off to get your law mower fixed, work weird hours, or are unemployed then you should be straight. Oh not to mention by the time they look at it, it will only take 4-6 weeks to get it back. By then your grass should be dead anyway! read more

Our microwave oven over the range needed to be replaced. I ordered a similar model to fit in the spot. I paid the install fee $140, haul away fee $25. The delivery was on time. Giving you a 1 star rating because of the major language barrier with your contractor who didn't wear a mask coming into our home, took a look at our microwave oven, and in very broken English tried to explain he couldn't drill holes in our wall to put in the brackets that were already there holding the microwave. ???? They had no problem removing the old microwave. He told me to call Home Depot and get my installation money back and to hire someone to do the install and left the new microwave oven still in the box. Refused to do install and left. I called Home Depot only to be told this is a 2 day process and someone will call to set up install. Nothing about this stated when I ordered online. I am going to call again to speak with a manager about the poor experience with Spirit Delivery contractor they use. Please use someone who speaks better English as it was very hard to understand him and tell them to wear a mask!! We wore ours in our house. Lowes and other stores will be our next option. This is a great Home Depot, every time we go in there is always someone willing to help. We were looking for stainless steel nuts and bolts to fix a boat issue and the gentleman wouldn't give up until he helped us locate what we needed. They also always showcase their good deals so I always seem to come out with more than I actually need so good for them. It's tucked away in a back parking lot and offers significant parking which is a bonus. It's the only Home Depot around but they don't act as such and treat everyone with respect. read more

Absolutely terrible service. Jason the blind guy cannot cut a blind to a directed measurement it took me going to and from my house a total of seven times to get one single blind cut correctly. Potential flooring buyers beware! Without getting into every mundane detail, I aproached a Home Depot employee with a carpet sample and mouthed the following, 'hi could you set me up with an install for this carpet please?' The female associate was very nice and started my order. Things are great. Hooray for nice new carpet! A few days later their sub contracted measuring service came and was about as pleasant to speak to as a wooden spoon. Nonetheless, the gentleman said the room measured whatever square footage and had me sign his little computer thing. Things are still great! Love the smell of new carpet. #homedepotissuperb! Carpet arrived later than their 72 hour promised delivery... hmm well, things happen and didn't think much of it. A week or so later and the carpet gods have arrived in their white van of glory!! I am ecstatic. I can barely contain my excitement and like a little kid at christmas, I patiently wait upstairs for santa and his merry posse of elves to finish their work. Soon after... I'm advised they're done. Carpet looked just like I ordered. Of course as home depot would soon be telling me, that was my mistake. But we'll get to that in just a bit... Anyway, they leave and all is well... A few weeks later I notice a foot long pull in my nice new carpet!! Oh no!! This simply couldn't be fellow yelpers because I specifically told the original associate I have dogs and cannot have an inferior carpet installed! Well, ladies and gentleman, home depot charged me, and installed, a carpet different from the sample I gave the associate. Their response? 'You should have known sagebrush beige was different from mustang wheat when the measuring service had you sign their computer screen' (complete with small print and legal jargon). How about your employee entered something into the computer wrong and take responsibility? How about i do not work with the product on a daily basis and therefore the vague item descriptions wouldn't tip me off that your employee did an oops? Nope. All my fault for assuming the associate performed her job correctly. So how does home depot suggest 'we' fix this dilemma? ? Well they did me a solid. I sincerely hope you're sitting down for this... they offered to give me FREE INSTALLATION on the carpet I wanted installed in the first place!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! So, following this logic... all I have to do is buy a carpet I DONT want. Then buy the carpet I DO want. And the second install is free!!!!!!!!! So needless to say home depot has lost my business forever because they refuse to return the inferior carpet I never wanted installed in the first place and simply charge me the difference for the MORE EXPENSIVE CARPET I WANTED! They even had the audacity to demand I sign 'a waiver' before cancelling the second order they so nicely placed for the second carpet . This store or perhaps company has no control over it's installations. I have been burned three times. Yes, the third time is a charm. First time was a new counter. Vendor came a day early to take measurements, my sister lives next door so she let them in. Day of installation they did not have the appropriate tools for installation, they had to borrow some from my brother-in-law who is in the trades. Laminate started to come unglued within one year. I have re-glued the ends and it looks like it. Second time was the installation of carpet for a very large area of the house. I don't profess to know anything about the installation of carpet so I stayed out of the way (outside). After I started to move the furniture back in I noticed that they installed the carpet with the seam in the highest traffic area of the house (living room to the kitchen). The carpet has already started to wear in that area and it has been only two plus years in a seasonal cottage! I recently purchased a large window from HD. It is two and a half months and they have not come out to measure the window. Yes, I put 25% down. I have contacted the salesman three times. Each time he has been profusely apologetic with no results. I have finally contacted the HD where I initiated the sale. Went to the window department explained my situation and the sales associate was going to personally call the salesman and if that did not produce results he was going to call "corporate". I waited one week, heard nothing. I called HD again where the sale was initiated this time a saleswoman answered the phone and indicated she would call "corporate" or that aspect of the company that managed installations. She said I would hear from them in one to two days that was over a week ago. I am now putting together a time line of phone calls and emails and submit them myself the corporate offices. I should like to note in a different state a long time ago (10 plus years) my mother-in-law had her carpet installed by HD. Two out of the three installers had ankle bracelets on for judicial monitoring. The products at Home Depot I have no complaint with, their installation is another thing. Beware! Beware! Paid $1600 for a range and microwave on 11/5 and they're on sale now for $300 less, but when I called to confirm my 30 day price protection I was disconnected from the Manager. When I called the second time and attempted to reach the sales rep (Pier Sledge) I was told she wasn't in, but to call back later and see if she could help me. I would've thought the 30 day price protection program was more streamlined than the Florida voting system, but I guess not. I will not shop for major appliances at Home Depot again. read more

the home depot in westerly r.i. is unfair to veterans as they claim a 10% discount on purchases they do not always give it. depends on who is working the cash out area. i have the veterans designation on my r.i. license sometimes they take it and give me the discount sometimes not. lowes on the other hand has no problem giving the discount with r.i. license plus the prices are less on most products read more
