Formerly known as Sugarista (same locale just different ownership), this is my fave sugaring salon in PDX. I see Aja and am always impressed that she can shape my brows exactly the way I like them (i.e. not sparse). I barely say a word, she works her magic and voila- my brows look awesome. I'm fairly sensitive to waxing (acne alert), but have never had a problem with the sugaring at The Honey Pot. Highly recommend! Protips: 1)Easy online booking system 2)The salon is located on the bottom floor of a large house occupied by many therapists and the like. The first time I went there I walked into the front door, got lost and wandered around quiet hallways with therapy sessions in progress (awkward). I love this place, I have never committed to seeing a place every month to get my eyebrows until I started sugaring! Staff: everyone is super friendly. I see Aja for my eyebrows she is always wonderful, pays attention to detail and I always have a blast when I go there. Terrible booking experience. I tried to make an appointment here for an eyelash set, but in the booking flow, BEFORE SEEING AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT TIMES, users are sent to a Mind Body site where they are required to enter the following information: Full name, Cell Phone Number, Email Address, Credit Card Information and Billing Address. Sending this information makes me really uncomfortable, so I tried calling Honey Pot to check appointment availability first. Nobody answered. Users are further required to create an account with Mind Body, with password (so I have spam from them to look forward to...). Of course, after providing all of this personal info, I was THEN taken to an appointment page where I learned that there were no available appointments that work for my schedule. This is a long overdue review...I saw Aja 2 weeks ago for eyelash extensions and she is absolutely amazing!! I have been getting extensions for quite sometime now and having just moved to the area I just could not find a good fit. The minute I pulled up I was in love. Off street parking was a plus. Her space is so quaint and comfortable. She took the time to explain to me what would be the best fit for my lashes and I am forever grateful. Updated to reflect the new name: The Honey Pot! I've been going here for years now, and Aja - as the new owner - is keeping the place awesome. In my previous life in Seattle, I had wonderfully close relationships with a few key professionals: my hairstylist, massage therapist, and sugarist. I'd been seeing each of them for about five years, which covers a wealth of conversations, connections, and plain old comfort with each other that's impossible to replace. But a move to a new city forced me to get back on the market and start over. And when it comes to sugaring, I'm thrilled that I landed at The Honey Pot and in Aja's skilled and capable hands; she's made the transition to this new relationship easy and seamless. On my first visit shortly after my move, she was full of valuable suggestions for where to go for things like yoga, food, etc: I felt right at home, and welcomed and valued as a new client. For anyone who doesn't know, sugaring is a less painful and all-around more skin-friendly alternative to waxing; if you haven't tried it, you're missing out! Being a client is so easy, in part because of their online booking system (MindBody, the same system your yoga studio probably uses) but also because the women who work here are welcoming and wonderful. Their space is located in the basement of a lovely old house on NW Kearney (pro tip: go UP the entry stairs in order to head down the other side to the basement), and it even has a small parking lot outside. Prices for services are excellent; I'm paying around $15-20 less per session than I did in Seattle for the same. I haven't had services with anyone other than Aja, but she's fantastic. After only a couple of visits she easily remembered what I did and didn't want, and she's always willing to change things up depending on your preference. Sugarists all have their own style; she's quick and firm, and excellent at immediately minimizing any post-pull pain. Not to mention she's so easy to chat with despite the unavoidable oddness of the situation (which you'll quickly forget anyway). read more

Aja did such a clean job sugaring a men's brow. She cleaned me up great and I was relaxed and comfortable the whole time. The space is clean, trendy, and relaxing. If you are the reluctant guy who doesn't want to confront the reality of an "old man" eyebrow, I would highly recommend this place. I've been going to Hannah at the honey pot for almost a year now, and I've never been happier with my lashes!! They've stayed healthy and strong and last a super long time. I usually go every 2.5 weeks to keep them looking fresh, but I've had to go 4 before and my lashes still looked really good. I get compliments all the time !!!! Also, a brazilian sugaring/wax has the potential of leaving you feeling vulnerable but she makes you feel so at ease and... normal. She's skilled, professional, always on time, and such a heart-warming person to talk with. The Honey Pot's location is in a classic victorian in NW and then once you walk inside they're suite, you feel like you're in a soothing boutique style spa. I started seeing Aja a couple of years ago. I had heard of lash extensions, but did not know much about them until I too decided to take the plunge! I can't tell you how natural they look and how many people told me how beautiful my eyes were! They didn't even know they were extensions! This place is fantastic. After moving closer in to Portland, I had to find a new sugaring spot and oh boy, am I glad I found The Honey Pot! All of the girls here are kind and knowledgeable. The location is great but the parking situation is miserable. (They have a small lot in the back, but since it's a shared building, it's alway full and street parking is hard to find as well. But the quality of service from Aja and Hannah make this spot worth the hassle. I always feel taken care of and listened to for a decent price. read more

I've been getting my lashes done by Aja for 2 years now & can't imagine NOT having them done anymore! Having many allergies & sensitivities to products, I am VERY limited to what products I can use on my face. My eyes tear up, swell, & burn w/just the minor irritants, chemicals, or fragrances... Aja uses latex free glue, which was a MUST for me! My eyes have NEVER had any irritation or problems with the products Aja uses, & I am COMPLIMENTED ALL THE TIME on how NATURAL they look. Usually you can tell when someone has fake lashes & I am told daily, by strangers who are double taking, trying to figure out, if they are real or fake, & I'm told every single time how unlike most others you see, how NATURAL mine look, how good they look, how you they look real, but almost too real where they're too good to be true? I love that I wake up, ever since the day I started having Aja do my lashes, feeling beautiful. I don't feel like I have to even put makeup on because my lashes look so beautiful & they just pop! I rarely wear eye shadow or eyeliner anymore cuz I don't need to! Which has inevitable saved me A LOT of $$ on eye makeup & eye makeup remover. You get what you pay for w/lashes. The initial investment to get them done is worth every single penny.
