The girl behind the counter said that I had missed the cut off date to cancel it for April so it would charge one more month but that she took care of the cancellation and it would automatically cancel at the end of April. But on May 1, my card got charged again. I didn't notice the charge until the end of the month of May and once again, it had passed the cutoff date so it was too late to cancel in May and on June 1st they charged my card again. I have called them three times and gone into the store once and I cannot get the manager to call me back to help me with a refund. I've also sent an email to their corporate headquarters with no response. This is terrible customer service so beware!

Being a red head with a pale but not translucent complexion, I was super nervous because I have seen some really awful spray tans. However, this was the exact opposite! She only gave me partial-foils, all 3 times. I have zero bleach in half of my hair. The top of my hair has been destroyed. It's copper from not leaving bleach in long enough in certain areas, and breaking off from over bleaching in other areas. I was completely blonde for years before coming to Alex, and it's going to take months to repair my hair if I'm lucky. When I asked for a refund for my hair due to being charged for full foils and only receiving partials, she blocked all communication with me. I would rather have a refund then to write this post, but since she refuses to help me, and stole and lied to me- I have no choice but to warn others. I do not recommend going to Alex if you have long thick hair or do not personally know her. She will take advantage of you if she can.

AMAZING!…read more I have nothing but good things to say about this place! The customer service her is IMPECCABLE! Older reviews were under old management! I can confirm that they have a new team in the salon and they are AWESOME! I had a very specific situation when I went in. They were not rude or impatient once. They gave me all the advice I needed, were not overly pushy on merchandise, and the salon is SPOTLESS!!! I have been an avid Spray tanner for the last couple years, but I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Therefore, I was nervous about spray tanning because certain solutions do have gluten or wheat based ingredients in them. I just wanted to have a tan for Portland Pride festival, which was about a week away. So I looked into indoor tanning. When I did my research and decided upon Tan Republic, I went in my first time at around 8:30pm (they close at 9pm). I called ahead of time and they let me know I just had to be in the bed by 8:45. When I got there, Carrie was so sweet! I explained to her my very unique situation, and she ran through all the options with me and was able to set me up with a perfect package for what I needed. She didn't try to overly push me to buy anything and answered all of my questions! She also gave me the right advice and recommendation for my skin type - as I am VERY pale! I came back Monday (June 10) and the guy working that day who set everything up for me was just as nice! (I don't remember his name, but he was great!) Then I went back for my third session and I met Monica! I explained to her that I didn't feel like I was getting tan enough, so I wanted to go up on time and try a different lotion. She was so sweet and patient with me as I looked at a bunch of the ingredient lists on the bottles to find a good gluten free one. I also happened to have a friend with me and she helped my friend find another salon close to her house and gave her advice too! Unfortunately, I have to take a little break from tanning all together soon. However, I will return to Tan Republic when I am ready for an awesome tan!
