Just had lunch at The Hop Stop (in Poway) for the first time. It was GREAT. We had the fish tacos and steak tacos - huge servings and great flavors! Very reasonable prices, too! Service was very friendly and efficient as well! The neighborhood has a very quaint feel - like NORCO, Old Horsetown in Riverside County. If you are in the area, "try it, you'll like it!"

We have loved checking out this area of town and this will become a go to spot for us. I loved the variety of food menu items they have and I know they are known for the variety of beer options they have but as a wine lover I do appreciate the wine options as well. Best part is they are very dog friendly so our puppy can come and enjoy it with us. This little part of town is so cute and very walkedable with others spots around as well. We came for an appetizer and drinks to enjoy while watching the padres game so we got the loaded tots which we really enjoyed their tots are perfectly crispy which we loved but we saw lots of other food come out as well that we will be coming back for like the burgers and tacos! The people working were so kind and I really don't mind counter ordering because it makes it so I can get up an order whenever I want. Plenty of outdoor seating which makes it so dog and family friendly but I can not wait to come back, probably tonight or tomorrow haha because we had such a great time here!

When you first walk in, you're welcomed to open seating which makes things super easy and relaxed. Menus are up front, and you can head back to the counter to place your order whenever you're ready. The bartender, JP, was awesome and kind! The owner, Rebecca, is just as sweet! They give the place an awesome welcoming! They've got a ton of options on tap, plus extras like JuneShine, hard kombucha, ciders, and even nonalcoholic drinks, which I thought was a nice addition! Their food menu is big, with lots of variety to choose from. I went with the Caesar salad and fries, paired with their Mango Dream JuneShine! Super refreshing and such a great combo! The atmosphere is another standout. Their large outdoor patio is perfect for bigger groups, hanging out with friends, or just enjoying the open-air! Overall, The Hop Stop is a super rad place, great drinks, tasty food, and welcoming. I'll definitely be back for more!

I cannot believe I have overlooked this place for the last 5 years! The Hop Stop is nestled in the heart of Old Poway Village and just celebrated their milestone 5 year anniversary. I took the opportunity to visit recently and I'm so glad I did. I just love the indoor/outdoor vibe that is welcoming to dogs, groups, and private parties . I believe they feature live music on Saturdays. Such nice spacious environs to relax and enjoy their impressive selection of craft beers on tap. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and she was so nice and hospitable. The menu here has a fantastic selection of pub grub culinary delights. I look forward to trying many of them. For my inaugural visit I ordered the "Smashburger" and it was outstanding! Made with a smashed beef patty with jalapeno & red onion, topped with pickles, bacon, garlic aioli and American cheese on a soft, tasty brioche bun. While the jalapeno and red onion were difficult to discern, that garlic aioli really sang through. The bacon was abundant throughout and had a nice well-done crispness and satisfying chew. I chose Tots for the side, and they were excellent! Hot, crispy, and fried well done, just how I like them. I will be back soon to try more things on the menu as well as test drive some new beers I've never had before. Highly recommended.

Much better bar food than your typical brewery. Although I probably wouldn't order again what we chose this past Sunday. The breading for the fried pickles were far too salty for my taste. While I felt the bone-in wings were dry, the boneless wings were juicier, but I didn't love either of the sauces. Definitely wouldn't come back here for the wings, but I've been here a few times before and really enjoyed some of their other menu items. I would absolutely try their other burgers, since the West Coast burger was pretty good. I do wish they toasted the buns as the bread was a lil soggy which I'm sure could have been a result of the bbq sauce as well. I really love how dogs are welcome and there's plenty of outdoor seating and heaters. There are also plenty of seats indoor as well. Overall I feel the environment is very airy and laid back. A fun place to gather with friends to catch a game while enjoying yummy food and bev.

Came in for my first time on a Sunday afternoon. Overall I enjoyed my experience. My only gripe was that service was on the slow side. In their defense, we came in shortly after they opened, so staff was still coming in as groups were ordering. Since we came in early, there was PLENTY of seating options inside and out. We order the Morning Burger and Breakfast Sandwich. The Morning Burger was tasty and filling, with a decent amount of bacon and avocado. The Sandwich on the other hand was supposed to come with a sausage patty. Instead it came with cut up sausage links, which wasn't BAD, but wasn't what I expected. As for drinks, they have a great selection of beers. I always have to try the house IPA. Their IPA is a little on the lighter side, which I enjoyed during the warm morning. That being said, this place has an open concept. The dining room was a little dark while the sun was rising, which kept it cool. Outside definitely got warm as time went on, so if you're looking for a cool, air conditioned building, you MIGHT have to look elsewhere (I'm sure they have AC, I just don't think it was hot enough for them to shut everything and start it, it's worth asking if you come in)

This place is so cute! I'm glad we found it. Atmosphere: casual, fun, and charming. Cute outdoor patio. Friendly staff. The beer selection is great, and they have both cider, hard seltzers and wine. Something for everyone. The food we had was delicious too. Looking forward to trying this place again.

Since I had to go to this place for an event, I couldn't help but take my dog to this pup friendly establishment! Love the outdoor patio, milk bone treats, and water bowl for your dog! Staff is super friendly and I like that this place is in Old Town Poway. Fave Item: Ube Beer! I've not seen this in many places, and I completely love the taste of Ube in Draft form! It's not mentioned anywhere in Yelp, and I'm surprised! Tips: Happy Hour M-Th 4-6PM Trivia Night every Monday! They also serve breakfast.

Such a fun brunch spot! You order at the bar inside (great bartenders/servers)! We tried the canned mimosas but preferred ours the traditional way. The outside sitting area was fun for the kids to play while we waited for our food. Large tables and space in between them so it was easy to get around. Water stations were so nice and convenient! The fountain soda area was also out side and accessible, kids loved getting their own drinks! We will be back!

casual outdoor or indoor seating. $5 hop stop classic beers during the football game. Slightly expensive otherwise but in the heart of old Poway/Midland and usually easy parking situation.

The staff are very friendly and greet you immediately, except for the sushi chef, who is very stern and does not engage. We came at opening, and the place was empty, for a Saturday, I found that strange. We were told to choose any seat we wanted. Service was quick and very attentive. The menu has a little of everything, but it definitely caters more to the American palate than the Japanese. We ordered Spicy Cucumbers and Shishito Peppers as starters. Both were good. They actually tasted really good when you ate them together. For our mains, we ordered Unagi sashimi style, the honey roll, and the Roka roll. To be brutally honest, I rate sushi restaurants based on their Unagi. For me, it has to be cut very traditionally and served the same. This Unagi did not meet my standards, and yet, it was very tasty and fresh. It was a good surprise. The Honey Roll was very fresh and tasty, except for the lemon on top. The pith was not removed, and it gave it a bitter aftertaste. When we removed the lemon, it was very good. I did not like the Roka Roll, but my daughter really enjoyed it. It was missing something, in my opinion. The portions are generous, so you can fill up with just a few selections. This was just not to my palate. We asked for hot tea, and they brought us a coffee mug with a tea bag and hot water. As I said, more American than Japanese in style. The worst part for me was the ladies' room. I doubt they can do much about this, but there is such a strong sewer smell in there that it is overpowering and really hard to use the bathroom.

Sometimes the golf ball isn't sensed so make sure you see that it says the ball is sensed on the screen. Otherwise if you hit it, it will not register it. There are different game modes available like driving range, trying to aim into a bucket, or playing an actual game of golf. They also have an instant replay of the hitting area so that you can review your stroke and where you hit the ball. I see the appeal in if you are wanting to try out or work on different areas of golf. Like you can play an entire game without having to be in the hot sun, or see from a top-down view of your club placement when you strike the ball. ---- Food was alright, minus half a star. We ordered the pepperoni pizza ($14) which was steaming hot when it came out and had a crispy bottom. Just a standard pepperoni pizza, nothing amazing. Ambiance wasn't "bar-like" which I liked bc while there was music playing you could still hear your own conversations. Service was great we somehow managed to hit 2 tees on top of the hitting area and they gave us another one each time. Lots of parking bc it shares it with other businesses in the plaza. ---- Overall: whether you are a golf fanatic or just want to try something out, this is a pretty great place to experience. Pricing is basically a dollar a minute you're here, but they have a wide variety of game modes available and the comfort of being indoors.

The staff was very warm and welcoming, though throughout the evening it definitely felt like they may have been short staffed and stretched a bit thin. We tried the Fried Shishito Peppers, Veggie Potstickers, Grilled Broccolini, Rosemary Garlic Fries, Whipped Burrata, Garlic Noodles, Salmon Poke Tacos, and Lamb Chops. Overall, the food was decent but nothing especially memorable. The lamb chops were cooked nicely but could have used more seasoning, and the poke tacos were tasty but tiny -- literally about the size of my pinky for each taco. Our server recommended a special habanero roll, and my friend ordered the Hawaii rolls--both were excellent. Another friend ordered a burger and really enjoyed it as well, so the kitchen is definitely doing something right. Where things fell short was the service. Our server started off great--friendly and with a good vibe--but as the evening went on, things slowed down noticeably. The host was not very attentive; we had to ask multiple times for items, and drinks were delayed until our server eventually followed up. It felt like no one else was stepping in to help. There were also a few mix-ups. We ordered crème brûlée and cheesecake, but were mistakenly given bread pudding that belonged to another table. It took about 20 minutes for the server to return and let us know about the error. While it wasn't added to our bill, there wasn't much effort made to make up for the inconvenience. I also ordered another glass of wine that never arrived--though, to be fair, I wasn't charged for it. Toward the end of the night, service became even more inconsistent. We were ready to pay, but the server disappeared for a while, and when he finally took our card, he seemed distracted and took extra time chatting with another table. Overall, it's a nice spot--especially for a summer dinner--and the food is definitely worth trying. However, the service needs improvement before I'd consider coming back.
