So we went here with a group of folks from our senior center for dinner for their special menu that is $20 from 2:30 to 4:30 there was a really great variety of approximately probably 12 different dishes between steak and pasta dishes, as well as fish and others. I had the 8 ounce sirloin which you could cut with the fork. It was cooked perfect and everything came out hot and fresh just like I wanted these otherwise I would've sent it right back cause I like my food to burn in my mouth. They also have for a couple dollars more you could get a filet mignon with special butter on top for $24. Everything came with a soup or a salad. It also came with a pasta or potatoes so starch and a vegetable or instead of the vegetable the day which was a carrot and green bean mix you could also get instead you get coleslaw. I got the coleslaw. It didn't really have a mayonnaise type dressing on it so that was a different kind of taste and it wasn't very cold so I kinda was concerned about that so I only had one bite. But the baked potato that I got was scolding hot. The butter melted right away in it, which is to me as a perfect potato came with sour cream. The steak like I said was tenders could be cooked exactly the way I like it you could cut it with a fork even though I had a steak knife. My partner had the veal Parmesan, which was a very large piece she can see from the pictures with he substituted Angel hair pasta for ziti. I think he should've stuck with a Z because Angel hair was just cooked too much. I was kind of soft like really soft like al dente. But the server was wonderful. She was very friendly. Kurdish came over as each person came in and offered to guess all drinks or a cocktail or something. She was just very involve which was wonderful. Then when it came time for dessert, we had a choice was great and not pudding or ice cream. We got ice cream with the choice of vanilla chocolate or Oreo cookie. I get vanilla the other half Oreo cookie. I did ask if we could get chocolate on it chocolate syrup there wasn't enough charge of a dollar for the hot fudge. It wasn't much so I just split it with my other half cause I didn't want to pay the app charged for two of us. I had a cocktail it was very very good. I don't remember it now, but it had like makers, mark bourbon and stuff and cherries. I didn't know how expensive it was until the bill came cause I didn't realize it wasn't priced on the menu but that's OK. I will learn and not get it again. I felt the bill was kind of high for what we had. We were gonna go out the next site to celebrate our anniversary, but with the price that we paid for dinner that first night on Tuesday we didn't really have enough in a bunch left to go out the next day. Our bill for this was $75 for the two of us. I know that's probably the average price now for going out to dinner, but I just thought that was a little high, but I didn't expect it to be really that much but we had a set price for dinner. But it's all brand new now. The insides all changed over. It's a little bit of dark wood, but I think like a cherry finish it kinda looks like they have a separate area completely from the bar to the restaurant. It isn't blocked off completely but it's made so you really have a separation there and we had gotten the function room in the back which seated with our party was 27. But I think you'll easily fit in 50 people in that back room. We've already decided when we go back. He wants to go back and try the burger but if we do that, we'll probably just get the one sandwich just to see if it's more reasonable period for us but it was wonderful. After being ignored for 25 minutes while later arrivals sat (us with reservations, them without) we were finally given a seat. The hostess said she called our name. Hard to believe since I was standing next to her the whole time and another couple had to point out that we were before them. We got sat at a table in the bar and served by Brian, one of the owners. Very nice guy, very accommodating. We were quickly served with water and warm rolls. The rolls were very good. Drinks were brought out very quickly, but waited over 30 minutes for our dinner. I ordered the salmon, which I often do. The entrée came with a choice of sides, so I chose the rice pilaf and the green beans. Everything was terrific. The salmon was big, the rice pilaf was quite good, and the beans were terrific. We will definitely be back. Hopefully they'll address their hostess position by then. read more

Delicious food and great service! Had lunch here yesterday with family and we ordered clam chowder, fish and onion rings, and sandwiches. The chowder was some of the best we have had and the fish was so fresh with a beautiful crisp batter. Also, the sandwiches were excellent and huge! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was here, especially under the new management and ownership. There's definitely some noticeable improvement, though the front-of-house operations could use a bit more coordination. The order pickup process felt a little disorganized, and the girl at the counter--while trying her best--seemed a bit overwhelmed and carried a touch of sass that didn't help matters. That said, the food was a standout. The fried chicken bowl was exceptionally fresh and flavorful--far better than expected. Burgers were solid, cooked well, and satisfying. They take care of their regulars, if you're not a daily regular be prepared for horrible service to go along with the overpriced foods. My wife and I ate at the bar tonight. The service was great. I had a Guinness. She had the Mayflower. The Guinness was good, but not a proper two part pour. I had a cheeseburger w tater tots. My wife had the chicken salad wrap w onion rings. My burger was really good. Fresh bun and perfectly cooked burger. Fresh tomatoes and lettuce. Just right. On the other hand, my wife's chicken salad looked like it was prepared by an inmate at MCI Walpole. The chicken salad was chicken and mayo. Perhaps some microscopic celery, but that wound be kind to the chef. No lettuce, no tomatoes, no seasonings. Super mono-chromatic and bland. My wife asked for some lettuce and tomato so she could doctor the wrap. They were delivered promptly and she made the best of it. To be positive, the onion rings were really good. I am a takeout customer for many years, this place has gone downhill. Portion sizes have grown smaller as has the quality. However we keep giving them another chance as the food is still pretty good. Last night was the final straw. One of our entrees was the "mini seafood platter" $32.99 that describes it as "Fresh haddock nuggets, scallops, and whole-belly clams deep-fried to a golden brown. Served with fries, hand-cut onion rings, homemade coleslaw, and tartar sauce." Zero whole belly clams as they don't have it (menu didn't mention). And overall very unimpressed. To begin we were a party of two arriving at 605 we did not leave until 745 due to the long wait for our food that arrived way after 7 pm. The stuffed mushrooms were saturated with cheese to cover a tasteless bland stuffing. I ordered Haddock mashed potatoes and carrots. The mashed potatoes were cold, carrots were cold, Haddock was hot but had the same tasteless stuffing on top. My wife had the stuffed haddock and she agreed hers was bland and tasteless as well. We were seated relatively fast and met a rather nice waitress. The restaurant in South has a cramped feel to it as it seems there are too many tables for what the building can actually sustain. Oddly, our table happened to be right next to the commercial dishwashing machine and their coffee preparation area. Why the dishwasher isn't located in the food prep area must be out of convenience for the wait staff. It took between 40 and 45 minutes to finally receive our food and unfortunately that was a disappointment as well. Chicken Gorgonzola: this dish is flawed conceptionally. It was served with undercooked and under seasoned pappardelle pasta. The chicken was rolled, breaded, and contained a center of Gorgonzola, mozzarella and prosciutto. This time the chicken was hard and overcooked. Lastly, this is all served in what could be described as a bath of marsala, and some other ingredient rendering the pasta even soggier and ruining any of the crispy bread texture. The chicken ones had. Not to mention the alcohol was not cooked out of the marsala. This should be scrapped or completely reconceptualized. The rest of our dishes consist of two orders of efficient chips, which fair no better. The chicken itself was flavorless along with the breading. Tasting the breading alone you could quickly determine there was no seasoning whatsoever. This was served with a side of onion rings were blatantly undercooked. They were soggy and had a blonde appearance. How any of this food left the kitchen without the executive chef catching this is a mystery. Apparently, nobody is paying attention either that or no one cares. Even our waitress should've been able to see the onion rings that were under. Even after telling the waitress of how the food was awful, it all still remained on our bill, which was the nail in the coffin, preventing us from ever returning again. read more

Warmly greeted immediately upon entering. Place was packed even at 7:30 at night. The place is kind of dark and dingy it could definitely use a renovation. The waitress was friendly and efficient. I got the burger, cooked medium, came out rare and she picked right up on it asking if it was too rare, I love that it comes with fries or onion rings or a mix of both. My husband got the seafood special it was pretty big in size and did have a lot of seafood in it.
