After having attended a Yelp Elite event here several months ago, I decided to surprise my husband on his birthday and come back to do some ceramic painting together. We are getting ready to welcome our first child, and I thought it would be fun to paint some ceramic items for her. I decided to paint a large ceramic plate and decorate it with birthday candles to make it the family "birthday plate" that we can all use to celebrate our birthdays throughout the year. Just a fun little new family tradition to start! My husband decided to paint a ceramic fish because he loves fish, and we plan to put lights in it and turn it into a nightlight in her nursery. He did a really good job painting it to look like a Koi fish. We had such a great time and they provide all of the necessary tools and materials as well as any tips and advice you may need. The staff were extremely kind and engaging without being overbearing, and the turnaround time was quick. I came here a while ago for their candlemaking. It was a very unique experience! It seems you can pick from a variety of containers and they provide different colored wax for you to break up and then add to your container. They also have various shaped wax you can add, as well. After that, you pick some glitter (optional) and a scent. Then they add a filler type material to the wax and heat it up to melt it altogether to get your finished project. The staff were friendly and helpful! The times I've passed this shop it seems very popular and I've seen parties. Overall, I would highly recommend! read more

What a really cool place! Found out this place from a IG real, and finally decided to check it out. First time here and we were greeted with a friendly welcome and explanation of how everything works here, right when we walked in. Decided to check out this place on a Thursday and it was really cool! You can do mosaics, pottery painting, candle making, slime, succulent potting, and more! All the pricing is listed on the bottom of the art, and you only pay for that price! The one I chose was $25. All the materials and supplies are included within the price. We decided to make a candle and it was really stress relieving and therapeutic. You got to choose various colors of wax and you break it up and put into the glass that you choose. Fill it the pieces to the top and then you got to choose 3 toppers to put as the final decor. You also get to choose up to 2 scents to add into your candle so it was cool to smell different ones in each of the containers. Once you're finished you give it to the staff and they will melt it down for you and you get to choose and add glitter for a final product. It takes about 20 mins, and it was a slower night so you might have to wait if it's busy. I really enjoyed my time and experience here and will definitely be back to do more! The space itself was spacious, clean, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The bathroom was greatly decorated with funny raccoon photos but overall clean. I went here for a double date (super fun here if you haven't done one already) and the space perfectly accommodated that! Honestly plenty of tables and extra supplies and brushes/paint to help with everyone's designs. My only thing is their limited of plain bowls/plates? I wanted a plain bowl/plate with no holes or textures but couldn't find a single one with that... either way I still ended up picking one of the textured bowls which still turned out cute! Three generations of women, one craft table, and a perfect afternoon! I was looking for something fun and different to do with my mom and my daughter, and The Hot Spot turned out to be the perfect choice. Even though it's is about 40 minutes from our home, it was absolutely worth the drive. When we walked in, we were amazed by how many activities were available. You can paint pottery, make candles, create slime (which would be so much fun with kids), and even make your own terrarium. There were so many options that it took us a while to decide what to do! We ultimately chose mosaic art, and before we knew it, we had spent over two hours there. Time flew by because we were having so much fun. The atmosphere was fantastic--relaxing, welcoming, and full of great 70s and 80s music. The shopping center even has a Starbucks nearby, which added to the experience. I appreciated all the thoughtful touches. They provide aprons so you don't have to worry about getting your clothes dirty, and the best part is that when you're done creating, you can simply leave everything on the table and they take care of the cleanup. As someone who loves crafts but not necessarily the cleanup afterward, this was a huge bonus! I also have to compliment the owner on the choice of tables. They were bright, cheerful, and clearly designed with crafting in mind. I watched staff clean a neighboring table after guests left, and glue, glitter, and other craft materials came right off. Smart design and practical, too. The bathroom in the back was very clean, the staff was friendly, and the pricing was surprisingly reasonable for how much time we spent there. This is easily a place where you can relax and enjoy 2-3 hours without even realizing it. Another thing I loved was that we were able to take our mosaic projects home the same day because we chose not to add grout. It was so satisfying to leave with a finished project in hand. We had such a wonderful time, and I'll definitely be back to try some of the other activities. I love doing crafty things and this place definitely gets your creative juices flowing! I knew about this place through TikTok and their recent yelp event which I couldn't attend due to sickness. Decided to make this a friend date and come through on a Thursday evening. Called ahead time and found out you can just walk in with no reservation for party less than 6 people. When walking in we were greeted by Max. Which I found out later he's the son of the owner. He explained to us the studio and which sections are for what crafts. This place offers so much crafts from pottery painting, succulent potting, candle making, making slime and mosaic art. He told us depending on the craft it's a firm price with the supplies and service included. We ended up deciding to make candles for our first time. The vessel I chose was a medium size that was $25. After that you take a tray and pick out the wax colors you want. I wanted do like a colorful succulent theme and my friend got a lot of pastel colors. The wax had so many colors I just wish they had more whites and lighter colors. They even had a scrap box to look through. We spent an hour making the candle. Then we choose the scent and glitter. Another worker name Lily told us we can do two different scents. I got the Romantic Eclipse and Kiss Me Cupid. We got a big selection to choose the color of the glitter as well. Then Lily told us it takes 20 mins for the candle to be done after heating and cooling. Each topping is included for 3 items and it's additional $2 for 3 items. After 20 mins we got our candle and it was so cute! I didn't even want to light my candle cuz how pretty it is. I love how neutral and romantic my candle smells. And the glitter was nice touch to make it look cute. This is a fun place to take parents, kids, friends and partners here. I think it's a good place to have good quality time while making crafts. The place is spacious and has lots of tables and chairs. Bathroom was clean and very nicely decorated with the funny raccoon portraits. Also really enjoyed talking to Lily and Max. I wanted to do something different besides brunch with my friends when I found the hot spot. I love being creative, anything arts and crafts is an absolute yes for me. We enjoyed making candles and all the different options, molds, jars, colors, scents, toppings, glitter. My candle turned out so cute and it smells so good. I just absolutely loved the entire experience. We recently found The Hot Spot, and it ended up being one of those places that was everything we needed and more. From the start, I loved how simple the pricing is. If you're doing ceramics, the price of the piece is the total price. No extra charges for paint or firing, which makes it so much easier to just enjoy the experience without overthinking it. One of our favorite parts was the fairy garden station. My daughter and I both made the cutest little gardens with succulents and got to pick three charms for our pots. There were so many cute options. She picked an owl and I went with a more classic black pot. It turned into one of those moments where you kind of lose track of time just sitting there creating together. They also have a mosaic station with everything included from glue to beautiful stones, and a slime station which was a huge hit with the kids there. I actually love that they offer slime because doing that at home is... a whole process. We also tried the candle making station, which was such a fun surprise. You chop up wax pieces, fill your vessel, and then decorate the top. I stayed on theme and added little succulent pieces to mine. There were tons of vessels to choose from, and you can pick your scent. We both went with white tea, which smelled so good and clean. Everything was packaged up really nicely at the end, which made it feel a little extra special taking everything home. What really stood out though was that it's family owned. The owner was there and so kind, helping us whenever we had questions and just making the whole experience feel welcoming. Helpful tip: Don't skip the bathroom. It sounds funny, but the walls are covered in post-it notes and it ended up being one of the highlights. We may have added one ourselves, which was kind of the perfect way to end our girls day. The hot spot in Sacramento is such an awesome crafting studio that I had no idea about until recently! This place offers so many different unique crafts that, if done at home, would be expensive and difficult endeavors to embark on, but the studio makes all of these different unique crafts easily accessible to members of our community by keeping all the supplies on hand and handling set up and clean up. They also walk you through how to do these crafts and offer a helping hand if you're stuck or have specific questions. I invited the members of my cozy girl book club to join me on a crafting evening of painting pottery, but there are so many different crafts available here it was hard for us to choose. Connection and creativity are two areas of my life that I really try to make a conscious effort to create space for, and The Hot Spot helped to make this goal of mine easily achievable. I think this place is great to bring kids who love arts and crafts. It's a medium-sized store with lots of chairs + tables and packed with lots of activities I think kids would enjoy. I noticed for slime making there was an employee helping kids make it and the employee was always enthusiastic and engaging. The customer service was 5/5 with very nice employees who took their time helping you. As an adult, I would not return again. I was convinced to come because they boasted no studio fees. For "making mosaics" it turns out it's glueing pieces of mosaic tiles onto a canvas or some wooden boards/shapes they have, but they do not do any grouting. Instead, I decided to paint ceramics. In total I spent $46 on one mug. The materials they had for ceramic painting were great, from a variety of colors to stamping tools to brushes. I did have to ask for paper towels. After spending 2 hours painting my design, I submitted it to them to fire and was able to pick up after 3 days which was a very quick turn around. The problem was after picking up, I noticed a lot of spots/dark marks on my mug which is very noticeable since the background is white. I've attached pictures, the most noticeable is on the inside of my mug has these green marks which is very disappointing and I know was not a mistake on my part because I didn't use that color anywhere on my design. Also pictured on the bottom of my mug are three bumps that interrupt the glaze, it's not the worse mistake (especially since it's on the bottom) but it's definitely noticeable. I am upset in that I came with a friend and they also received mistakes on their painted ceramics with marks to the outside of their cat planter (picture attached, she spent $30 on this planter). It's frustrating to spend so long perfecting a design and spending a good amount of money to end up with mistakes that were not our fault. I think the employees are doing well creating a comfortable and fun environment, especially engaging for kids. But when it comes to handling painted ceramics, I would not trust them again. 2.5/5 read more

They didn't try to take too much of our time over-explaining what we can do or not and straight to the point which is straight to the fun.
