This is exactly the kind of Hospitality business that an At Risk neighborhood needed to reenergize itself and move forward, create jobs and offer affordably to travelers. Visionary for sure. Clean, new, stylish, minimalist / simple and the bed was comfortable. I'll definitely be back.

    Bonus! USB charging ports!!

I would like to give this hotel a really big hand clap. Im not sure what the situation was like before the remodel. But, whoever made the executive decision to do it deserves a grand review. We checked in around 5p on a Friday and were welcomed on the property by maintenance and the manager on duty who helped with a quick check in. The parking lot was clean, open and spacious. There's plenty of parking and extremely well let in the evenings. No homeless stragglers, yet! I say yet, because the properties along the main road are pretty low end and run down. It's hard to navigate where to turn in if you're not familiar with the area and there's construction cones. We came back from dinner in the evening and turning in from the opposite direction was unfamiliar but we made it work. We walked into an extremely well decorated and very clean room. There were two queen beds that were really comfortable and plenty of pillows. There's a separate vanity area and bathroom. The light switch set up is on the outside of the door so that was weird and I wouldve like a few more hooks to hang towels. But, thats personal preference. The towel thread count was bomb! Kudos on that, guys! We really were impressed with that. There was an adjoining door in the room, but no issues because I dont think there were visitors occupying the room. There's a really interesting door safety feature I have never seen before. But, I assume its to prevent someone from kicking in the door?! I mean...given the area, I approve. There were absolutely no safety issues whatsoever. There's free ice, a pool and free breakfast as a bonus!

Maid service is only done every other day which we didn't realize until we came back to our unmade bed, dirty towels and no coffee. When we went downstairs to get our water we were told the two bottles of water were free but if we wanted water on additional days, there would be a charge. The place is in serious need of an update. The breakfast was abysmal. We ordered a veggie omelet and the waiter came over twice to clarify what I wanted on my omelet. What we both got was an overdone omelet stuffed with bacon, not one veggie in it. I then thought i would try the biscuit's and gravy, seriously, the biscuit could have been used to pound nails it was so hard. Every morning for three mornings I tried and they were always like rocks. They must just keep reheating the same biscuits over and over. The fruit was good, thankfully. The lobby was like a frat house. People had brought in Mexican food and were eating it all over the lobby. Kids were running everywhere, climbing on furniture and yelling. Then the traffic noise is super loud and keeps you from getting a good nights sleep, even though we had requested to be far from the street. All this for the price of nearly $250 a night. If you come to Yakima, there must be far better places to stay. I can assure you, it will be our last. The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one is the beds were fairly comfortable.

We stayed for a couple of days and at first we were intimidated by the crowded parking at night, but they have underground parking that you can access with a room key. This was great since during the day above ground was pretty hot. When we checked in the people at the desk were very friendly and they melted when they met our pups. The lobby has a snack bar/sundry/gift shop where you can purchase everything you need at reception. There's also a beautiful two sided fireplace that I'll bet is great in the winter, but they didn't light up during our visit because of the warm temps. Also in the lobby is a restaurant/sports bar. My sister enjoyed the steak while I got a salad. There was a nice chill vibe with the visitors sitting around and relaxing. The only complaint I have is that our poor server was running around as he was the waiter, bartender, and expediter while there was just one lady in the kitchen. He seemed overworked and were worried about that poor man. Our room was a very clean suite so we got 1.5 baths and a separate living room with a pullout sofa bed. It was great to be able to spread out and the wifi is very reliable. The hotel is near the conference center and the state fair grounds and there are a nice mix of restaurants and shops. There's even a nice brewery/restaurant on the next block. There were a surprising amount of grassy areas in the neighborhood to walk the dogs, but we limited the distance we walked from the hotel because there are a lot of sketchy homeless people down the block. We felt safe all around, except when we talked to some of them. We're no slouches because we've lived in sketchy neighborhoods in LA, San Francisco, Oakland, etc, but there was a weird vibe with these folks. Still I'd happily stay at this hotel again. Within the walls, it's a great setup.

The only real negative for the room was that the shower didn't have great pressure, and it squirted all over the floor because of the design of the shower. The only negative for the hotel for me was the group of people without masks in the lobby in the morning. State mandate is masks required indoors for everyone regardless of vaccination status. That was really disappointing that it wasn't enforced because these people seemed to be a part of a wedding that was occurring on site. I'm safe, because I'm masked but it's disappointing to see that the hotel doesn't enforce the requirement. Which makes me wonder if it is as safe as they suggest. Just a thought y'all. Overall, I'd definitely stay again next year after The Gorge!

Now the bad: - Hotel was undergoing renovations, which was not mentioned on the Hilton website, as usual protocol with chains. Dust and Dirt, can't access lobby from elevator, etc. - Room is TINY. This is a Tru by Hilton size room. - Location noise. While not NY, it's still got pretty darn loud from street traffic (engine revving, etc). Then throw in the train that comes around night and day. - Parking is $15/day. Really, on top of the $200+ a night stay in Yakama? Then the underground garage is tight AF, so good luck navigating your truck/SUV around the pylons. - Breakfast $12 - Almost laughable. It's a tiny table tucked away with some random pastries. I am in the area quite a bit and usually stay at the other Hilton or Marriott properties, but they were sold out the week I was there. If faced with the same option again, will just go to Holliday Inn.

Layout wise, I didn't like how the TV was back behind the desk. I like to watch a show while eating breakfast and checking email to start the day. Bed and pillows were comfortable, which helped me feel refreshed for the next day. My co-worker and I arrived early and our rooms were not ready. That's fine, but there is no real business center for us to set up and do a couple hours of work on our laptops while we waited. Plenty of greeting room-type seating and knee-level tables, but nothing really functional. We would have had to rent a business space to get an outlet and a reasonably ergonomic table. The evening reception was very basic but nice experience. The breakfast was basic (scrambled eggs, potatoes, and a meat) with a few other things - but very salty. It is plated for you, so it takes something away from the buffet style of getting what you want. My co-worker, on the other hand, had a very unpleasant experience in a room that smelled like dirty dog trying to be covered by strong chemicals. He suffered through it because it was only one night.
