So, been here 2 years now and what started as an abruptly pleasant experience has really just dragged on painfully. The maintenance staff is friendly and if you get to know them they definitely come to your aid. As for the office staff, they are nice as well. The gym is clean and has nice equipment. I don't use the pool and barbecue too often but they seem well and intact. The main issue here is the level of discomfort and inconvenience. If you have two cars, you better reserve yourself a second spot for an additional 80 bucks or so a month. Crazy right? Well it'll be necessary since during the week, especially Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, you can never find a spot for the life of you. Also, there is a waitlist for additional garage spots, so you will be waiting. Monday and Tuesday nights which precede street cleaning the following mornings, offer little to no spaces anywhere. Some people have the audacity to park middle in a two car spot which just really grinds your gears since some of us may get home later and need to park our cars. I mean, it is an utter disregard for the principles of proper parallel parking which I would assume in a city is common sense and courtesy. Also, during the street cleaning time in the morning you better wake up between 6-7 even if your day starts later just to make sure your car is parked on the opposite side of the street. If you're a student, it would make sense to have your car parked given the various times for schedules but since I doubt that it is the case for everyone, it seems like nobody works, so expect sometimes to have to leave your home and come back at 10am or just sit in your car until someone moves since you don't want a present from the meter maid. Relentless. Now, getting to the apartment. The ground and walkways always seems to be filthy. Again, don't blame the staff. It's the nasty people that have been allowed to move in here. I have found dog feces multiple times between me and my neighbor's doors. I mean, who lets their dog defecate by someone's door and not pick it up at that? Then, another time I found clumps of bird feathers and trash scattered between our doors in the walkway. I doubt there are any enemies here because my neighbor is never around and I don't talk to anyone, it's merely a complete lack of regard for human decency. There are always terrible neighbors. One previous one was kicked out under me and was always blasting electronic/dub music really late, but of course they couldn't realize that this is an apartment and families also live here and probably students who need quiet. The current neighbors across the doorway are great but prior to them was a couple who made really loud cat noises and although I didn't necessarily find it inappropriate, it was incredibly annoying and loud. The walls are thin here and so is the infrastructure. I would venture to say that we probably wouldn't survive an earthquake, but we know this at a whopping $2000/mo for 700sqft. The neighbors that live above me seem sketchy. Their windows are tinted black. Never heard of that in an apartment complex but the main cause of annoyance is the stomping. I mean the ground may shake a little when you walk on it but it's like these guys are in combat boots marching at late hours of the night. It sounds like they're always dropping stuff and then they vacuum at least once a day at 1am. I don't get it, maybe they mean nothing by it but it's definitely not at all pleasant for me. There had also been a notice last year of a 3 week construction project going on for some simple renovations. Well, that turned into 6-7 months. And while trying to have quiet on any given day all I could hear is jack hammering and cutting of metal. It was so unbelievably loud and going on all day that I couldn't even be at home. I couldn't watch tv or even do work with my headphones on. The neighborhood is good and it's close to the freeway. Like I said staff is nice, the gym is pretty sweet, but again... it's an apartment. Of course it doesn't give you all that you would expect from living in a house, but there really should be some protocol as far as tenant behavior goes. It's your place of residence and there are a lot of people living here so you should be courteous. I get it if people are loud in increments walking back home on Friday or Saturday nights but that's not the issue at hand. If you don't expect to be home very often or at all then sure get a place here, it won't matter. But if you're seeking comfort I wouldn't count on it. Oh, and I also forgot to add, sometimes I see spit on the elevator buttons, so I have to resort to using the bottom of my shoe to go up or down. I don't know who does that but I have seen it at least 3 or 4 times and it is so gross. And for those who leave trash by the doors in the garage (too lazy to dump it), fix yourselves.
