Sunday special of smoked turkey, dressing and gravy with 2 sides - I picked green beans and fries.

Great small-town restaurant. My husband was pleased with the all-you can eat salad bar (think Ruby Tuesdays). I had the daily special for Sunday - turkey & dressing with gravy plus two sides. The turkey was smoked and very moist. The stuffing was good, but a little salty. My fries on the side were just right - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The server was friendly and checked on us several times. I tried their apple bbq sauce with my fries - it was fun - reminded me of apple butter flavor.

If you aren't offended by the overt fanaticism for Trump, maybe you could dine here. We were instructed to select any table we wanted, and as we walk towards the back of the restaurant, we could see the nice wall panels depicting history on the walls. There was a pic of defiant Trump at the first assassination attempt on one wall above a doorway. The television was trained on Fox News, which was not a surprise. The wall at the foremost end of the restaurant depicted every president in history with a classic photo and the years of service. I was surprised to see a nice photograph of Obama because I certainly did not expect that given the tenor of this restaurant. A week before the national election, including a caricature of someone, but didn't look anything at all like President Biden. And they already had the next picture of Trump in his mug shot pose listed as the next president. We even overheard other diners talking about how Trump was being honored recently. It seems that is part and parcel of the crowd dining here, and I shouldn't expect anything less from the area of the Florida panhandle we visited. So depending on your stomach for politics that are slanted in one direction, think carefully before you choose this as your dining destination. Had we known that this was such a slanted restaurant, we should've dined somewhere else. We do like to try local restaurants and try to stay away from chains, so we made our choice and decided to stick it out. We split the three barbecue meat combination platter and selected pulled pork, sausage and ribs. We chose baked beans and coleslaw for our two side items. The baked beans were very meaty and included, pulled pork in the baked side item. The food was delicious and we ended up taking home a portion of each for a lunch the next day. The service was fine. We were promptly greeted, our server took and brought our drink order in swift fashion, and our food was served within 10 minutes. And we received the to go box we requested promptly. I'm just sorry that this restaurant had to interject this type of political diatribe into otherwise good food.

I think we ordered wrong here. I liked the food but definitely take advantage of the salad bar and build your own burger!

Over rated. Bland and obviously canned and instant ingredients. This really screams of 1975 no inspiration.

The place is a cozy, older styled southern restaurant with lots of charm. The waitress we had - I…read morecannot remember her name - was extraordinary and took such good care of my family and I. Three out of four of us had ordered the hamburger steaks and while we waited our waitress checked in on us, refilled drinks multiple times, and kept updating her with the status of our order. We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes when our waitress came back and informed us that the kitchen failed to communicate that they were actually completely out of hamburger steaks. She was super apologetic, asked if there was anything else we wanted, and immediately offered compensation for the issue. We all ordered something else and she got the order in as quickly as possible, came back to check in on us some more, and got her manager to comp one of our meals and some pies for us. The food came out maybe 20 minutes later and everything was hot and fresh. The fried okra was SO GOOD and the chicken was basically falling off the bone. The toast, as seen in the picture, got a little burnt, but my husband had no complaints when he ate it. Overall, our meals were great, the pies were delicious, and the customer service form the waitresses and manager was phenomenal. The being said, this restaurant would 100% be 5 stars for me had the kitchen been communicating with the waitresses. However, they did not and it caused so much unnecessary issues for the waitresses and caused a long wait time for food during my families visit. All in all, this place is worth the try especially for the price point!

The reason I'm giving this a lower rating is because of my entrée. I ordered the red snapper and was really looking forward to it. However, when our food arrived, the server delivering the dishes said it was grouper. I told him I had ordered red snapper, and he informed me they were out. That caught me off guard--no one had mentioned it, and my order had been changed without checking with me first. I didn't make a big deal about it at the time, but I found it odd that no one communicated the change or gave me a chance to choose something else. The grouper was decent, but it definitely wasn't what I wanted. When I shared this with Alyssa, she offered to change my order, but I didn't want to extend our stay any longer. If we return, I'll make sure to double-check that what I order is actually what I receive.
