I visited The Ice Cream Stand during an event and I was impressed. I have been a loyal customer at another ice cream stand for a while but the Ice Cream Stand has now given me another option!! Obviously you have to try the s'mores ice cream. That's a MUST! I was hesitant because I usually don't enjoy s'mores ice cream as much as I enjoy the real thing. But this ice cream tastes delicious and the experience that comes around it with the toasted marshmallow was a real delight!! Great job on the animation as well. Where do I even begin? I've been to the Ice Cream Stand many times since it is one of my favorite go to spot in Syracuse for ice cream. OR should I say it 'was'. Yesterday I brought family friends including kids total of 11 of people. I get that it could have been hectic with multiple orders, but I received one of the worst customer services ever from the place. Story goes like this. So for one of the orders, I asked for a 'vanilla' and ended up getting a soft vanilla. I clarified that I asked for a hard vanilla. Response that came back was no you ordered vanilla and not a vegan vanilla which is a hard ice cream. I was treated as though I was such an ignorant person not knowing the difference. Instead of getting me a 'hard' vanilla as an exchange, basically I was reminded several times that that was my mistake and I actually had to get another hard 'vegan' vanilla this time and pay for it. Well, it didn't stop there. We ordered another 'small' coconut along with a small peanut chocolate. When comparing the scoop size, small coconut seems much smaller comparing to small peanut choncolate and almost kitty size. When asked why, the staff who helped with scooping the ice cream said we ran out of the coconut ice cream. Shouldn't I have been told about it in advance and at least be changed for kitty size? They charged me a full price for a small scoop size and gave me a kitty size? When I asked how she would fix that, she whispered to the store manager which seemed like they both discussed the matter. I waited for about a min standing there expecting to be told how they would address the matter, instead I was completely ignored. I didn't want to turn this into a fiasco with all our family members/friends and ruin our afternoon so ended up leaving but it was not a pleasant experience at all. Plus the ice cream quality wasn't as good as it used to be. So sorry Ice Cream Stand, you will have to step up your game before I come back for the next scoop of ice cream. As a huge fan of your place in the past, this was very disappointing experience for me. It seems like staff needs to be trained for better customer services. A reliable spot for a solid scoop. The space has so much potential for community events. Love that they promote local musicians and poetry nights. We need spots like this to support Downtown culture. Their cookie sandwiches are bomb and I wish they had them more frequently. The proprietary roast they have from Salt City Coffee ("The Stand") is among the the best cups of coffee is Syracuse. Great flavors of hard ice cream! Last time I went I got soft serve and it was very watery, they had to put it in a dish (even though i wanted a cone). They should have said the soft serve wasn't available at this time. They also have weird hours for being open in the summer time you would expect them to be open til dusk. We tried to go on a sunday and they close at 7:30, most places are open late. read more

Though not an obvious find from the main road, this place is definitely worth the stop! Tucked away on the side of Chuck Hafners, most locals probably know where to look. The owner and staff were all super friendly and happy to provide info about how they source most of their ingredients locally. The ice cream varies from your classic vanilla with rainbow sprinkles to the original graham cracker with a torched marshmallow on top! Whatever your flavor preference, you cant go wrong! High quality ice cream like this was really needed in the Clinton/Armory square area. My friends and I went there and were extremely pleased with everything we ordered. I got the peanut butter pie ice cream and loved the whole chunks of peanut butter cup in there. My girlfriend got the toasted coconut and loved the chocolate covered toasted coconut flakes! Also, all of the gluten free options were clearly listed, which we really appreciated and the menu has a lot of different options. I think I'll try the root beer float next time... read more

Where to begin. Came here because I had a craving for a sweet treat. When i arrived they literally only had 6 ice cream flavors available, no vanilla, no chocolate, no oreo or cookie dough! So we decided on Oreo flurries. They charged my credit card and then realized the flurry machine was too warm (not on). So then when i asked for my money to be returned, they weren't able to return it to my card and gave me cash instead. I still really wanted to sweet treat so i asked for an oreo shake. And received the most liquid shake ive ever had. It was more milk than ice cream for sure. Not sure if they were trying to conserve their subpar ice cream or if they dont have a proper system for making a milkshake. I mean honestly if you dont know how to make a proper milk shake working at an ice cream place, what do you know how to do? This place deserves 0 stars (1 star is too much) for its lack of customer service, lack of decent management and lack of quality ice cream. read more

I was super excited about this place based on the yelps. Ummm, nothing special in my opinion. Just a regular ole ice cream shop. The girl working offered samples of there was anything we wanted to try. We picked out flavor and got our order. No frills, no toppings offered, nothing out of the ordinary. I did like the decor in the shop but it was kind of hard to find and an all in all let down based on the reviews. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to return if I'm in Syracuse again. read more
