My first visit was an interesting experience. I had gotten the groupon package for 2 tickets, $25(?) worth of food, and 2 more tickets to a future show. When I tried to redeem it over the phone, I was straight up comped for the tickets I wanted and didn't have to use my groupon. I asked about the expiration date on my groupon since it was coming up quick, and the nice lady told me to call her directly for the next show I want, and she'll honor it regardless. Since I wanted the last showing of the night, I didn't care to use my $25 food credit, so comped tickets worked for me! Free street parking was a breeze for me since I went at night. I think there's a paid lot nearby if you come earlier though. I walked up to the window to pick up my tickets and had a seat at the outdoor tables to wait until call time. The outdoor bar was closed, but you could just grab a drink at the bar inside. If you're not looking for a nice buzz, I'd recommend waiting until you're actually seated for the show because there's a 2 drink minimum per person, and those pre-show drinks don't count. For the non-drinkers out there, juice and bottled water count towards your drink minimum and they're relatively cheap for bar pricing. The main room is small, and the seats were nicely spaced out. There wasn't a single bad view. A warning for shy types: that makes everyone an easy target for the comics. The night I went though, they targeted the people closest to the stage. Kudos to the comics and the staff for their strong stance against heckling, both friendly and nasty. A noisy group actually got kicked out. Why the 3 stars then? They seem to cater towards 1 type of humor, and it's not my preferred kind. I chose a show that had a lineup of at least 6 comics, and their sets all relied on dirty humor. Not bashing on it! Came to see Bill Burr and was here a few months back to see Dane cook ,and a few other comedies Awesome show. Like any comedy shows it's required to get 2 drinks minimum which I don't mind they have to make business somehow..and it helps loosen the crowd up for the performers. The prices are not too shabby. Working in the night life industry, $16 for 2 beers is pretty good for me.. I've seen overpriced drinks but here its a fair price. read more

Just reopened. Go for the comedians Drinks are $15 which is typical. The california room is pretty small hopefully it doesn't stay like that. So its very obvious when ppl are talking during the acts. Hopefully the security begin taking care of that bc it was very distracting. The servers have to bump into you or squeeze in front of your table to get people's orders. I came here to see Ken Jeong warm up for his Netflix special. Since it was a special event, our phones were put in a locked padded case that was unlocked after Ken's set. We also put our drink orders in at the beginning of the night before Ken's set. No food was available for ordering because it was a special event. You can see from pretty much anywhere you're sitting. It's a decent sized venue and the sound is good. If you're looking for a night of comedy this is the place to go. There's an outdoor sitting area before you get into the venue. Staff were really on top of things - getting out drink orders an hour before Ken's set began. There's a parking garage across from the venue that costs $5. I think it's free after 10pm because it was open when I left the venue. There's also street parking but it's pretty limited. So for tickets it's around $20, drinks aren't cheap - I had a gingerale and a bottle of water at $4.50 a pop and then parking is $5. read more

Well hello again. Here I am with MY review of this place. My opinion my review and hope it helps you. We visited this location when my then boyfriend, now husband of 28 years visited this place. We loved it so much. We saw Jorge Lopez when he was just starting out. So fast forward to now, we couldn't wait to visit once more. So we went to the show on Saturday night. The comedians were great. I was a bit uneasy with the whole "sex" jokes. I get it, you need to make the audience laugh but do we really need to go that far? Many of the ladies were uncomfortable but were good sportsmanship. All the comics were great. I haven't laughed that much in a while. The ambiance was great though I miss the old Ice House facade. Now let's talk about the drinks. They were pretty awesome just pricey and I was in the mood for fries and their fryer was broken. So just pretty much drinks is all we got. Not complaining. As I said all the comedians were great but my favorite were Jose Barriento and Cisco Durant. What a way to close the show. Yes, I will come back with friends and my hubby and hopefully their frier will be working. Or maybe I will just sneak some in !!! Just kidding. read more

Purchased tickets for the Tiffany Haddish show tonight at 8pm, $40 bucks a ticket, plus the parking and the drinks and food, Just for her to be a no show! There was a group in the back that seemed to forget they were at a comedy show and wanted to have a full blown dinner party right in the middle of a comic's set. It has been years since I visited the Ice House and was looking forward to a good show, super disappointed that the headliner was a no show. The food was terrible but we got the pizza and chop salad so that may be why, not sure if maybe the other entrees were better, but the drinks were amazing and the staff was super friendly and very helpful. The venue is beautiful! Huge upgrade from the original Ice House. Not sure if we will return, the food is better at Flappers and Comedy Chateau in the Valley. read more

My friend got us tickets to go watch a show last Saturday and boy I had an amazing time! We enjoyed our time with our 2 drinks minimum inside but of course for me and my friends that is not enough. We hung out at the bar after the show instead of going to Old Town Pasadena afterwards. Overcharged my card and added a bogus charge. The server didn't ask me to sign anything, didn't give me a receipt. I waited after the show and he never came back. Then I saw that my card was charged more than it should have been for what I ordered, plus there was another item added. I contacted them and they never go back to me. My friends and I were looking for something fun to do last minute on a Saturday night and decided to catch a comedy show at The Ice House. We were able to arrive at 7pm and buy tickets for Taylor Tomlinson's 8pm show. I had never heard of her but Taylor has appeared on Netflix, The Tonight Show, and Conan so I am surprised that getting last minute tickets was not more of an issue. It was a full-house and Taylor KILLED IT! My face actually hurt from laughing/smiling after she finished her set. Not only was the show great but the food & drinks that we ordered were also surprisingly good. A few things to note: -They start seating guests about 30 min before the show starts and they fill the venue from the front (closest to the stage) to the back. Keep this in mind if you prefer to sit in a certain area. -There is a 2 drink minimum. Drinks ordered at the bar before you are seated for the show do not count towards your 2 drinks. -There is a parking structure for The Ice House right across the street. Parking cost is $7. -Tickets were $21/per person for this show. (I am not 100% sure if ticket prices vary depending on the comedian, day of the week, etc...) The Ice House was my first experience attending a comedy show and I had such a great time. One of the warm up acts was pretty bad but other than that the night was flawless. I attended the LA Comedy Festival here. It was a great show. The drinks and food are good. My friend and I ordered blackberry mezcal margaritas, fries and lemon pepper wings. The wings were a good size and tasty, not over salted. The restrooms were nicely maintained, large and plenty of them. I like the pre-show deck/patio they have and our waitress was kind and attentive even with a show going on. My only complaint is it felt like the tables were not large enough for two ppl to have drinks and food on even sharing food and the chairs were a bit on top of each other. read more

Eight (8) Hours of Traffic School, and on a Saturday no less, urgh! Then again, that's what us naughty drivers get, lol! Recommended calling for a reservation to secure your spot. That way, you can find out when the classes are on Saturday, where to park, how much class costs, and to leave a call back number with Mary (the lady that handles scheduling), in case she needs to call you back to let you know if class has been cancelled or whatnot. Parking: There's a parking structure right across that's $5 all day. Otherwise, you can attempt to find street parking a couple blocks away for free. There is street parking in front of the club, but it's only for two hours. Heck, if you gotta be here for 8 hours, might as well have fun and get some laughs out of it. This is exactly why I like coming here. My first time coming here (many, many moons ago, and my instructor was a male at the time) I had a fun time, and decided to come back to this location again. The cost of the class is $34.00 CASH ONLY. Your MC (Master of Ceremonies)/Instructor is Liza Adams. She's been a traffic school instructor for the last 18 years, and the lady knows her stuff! She keeps you laughing, while having fun, and the time flies really quick, woohoo!!! Trust me, I rather go to her class than sit through a boring, online course. Before the session ends, she gives you a 25 questions test, and it's pretty easy. As long as you pass 75% and above, you're good! Otherwise, if not, you'll have to stay back, and retake the test until you've passed. Best of all, the certificates are now submitted online via the instructor, and so you don't have to worry about mailing it. All you need is your citation number & LEA # (Law Enforcement Agency) to fill out the first part, and then Liza does the rest, awesome! Rest assure, she will go over everything with you in case you have any questions. You'll also get a receipt at the end of class that confirms your class participation too. Ambience & Decor: If you come early, there's booth seating against the wall. It's comfy and has a little table in front. You'll either end up sharing with another person, or you can have it all to yourself (depending on how big the class size is). Otherwise, there's banquet chairs and small tables in the front. Breaks/Restrooms: Do pee first before you come to class. Otherwise, at the first break time around 10:15am-ish, Liza will open up the restrooms. You get two break times, and 1 Hour Lunch. I like El Metate Café next door, delicious Mexican food - omg, the Coconut Juice is freaking delicious! The only one gripe to this place: It gets warm pretty quickly during the summer time, and so bring a little fan in case you get hot easily. Overall, I do recommend this place for traffic school. Free entrance to watch Shrry Cola. The place is small but just the right size to watch stand up comedy. You don't wanna be too far when part of the joke is the facial expressions they make! Sit in the very front. Everyone must buy 2 drinks per person. Water bottles (arrowhead) 16oz are $4.50 but beers were $5+ for a Bud Light bottle and $8 for a Guinness. Too bad it was flat and tasted terrible. It wasn't as cold as it should be and they take about 45 minutes to deliver your drinks. Four stars for the comedy show Three stars for the food Two stars for the bar Great comedy club in the heart of Pasadena, they had two stages - the main stage and stage 2, they even had an outside patio with a bar setup (wasn't open on a Thursday night but I'm sure it's open on the weekends. They had a step and repeat and as a ham of course we had to take pics. My friend was performing last night so we decided to check it out and I'm glad we did as the comedians were funny!!! We ordered the sampler which included nachos, chicken tacos and jalapeno poppers. The chicken tacos were quite tasty and so were the jalapeno poppers. The nachos would have been better if the cheese was melted but overall decent food for a comedy club. Disappointed with the service - I ordered a dirty martini which came to me sans the olives, by the time the server came back to us I was already done with my drink and I mentioned there were no olives in my martini and her reply was it was made with olive juice. I'm guessing they don't know that a dirty martini is made with olive juice and served with olives as the garnish. Our water came a while after our drinks and my Tito's and soda with lime came without a lime - I went to the bar since I figured I would get quicker service only to find out they ran out of limes so asked for lemon instead. I am so glad we came to this event. The tickets were not general admission, they were more since of course it was an event. Parking was a bit difficult to find, so i suggest go early to find parking and so you won't be rushing. There is street parking, and certain lots you can pay around $3-5 bucks so do not pay more than that. once entering, There is the option of eating dinner there or just entering the double doors where the act will be at. Once entering the double doors, your hostess will guide you to your seats, which anywhere you sit you will have a good view. If you are looking to get roasted you can sit in the first two rows, but prepare yourself lol The hostesses were Great! So attentive, coming back at the right time to check on us. But, one thing be prepared to spend money, it is expensive, the drinks, the food etc. for food we got nachos as an appetizer, which it is enough for two people. Do not forget it is two drinks minimum, which they take your order for both drinks during the first time the hostess comes around. One thing, that I disliked and it was not from the comedians but it just sucked that this rude guy from the audience was simply disturbing everyone by his rude comments, and being loud, and interrupting the comedians during the act. Got tickets to see Cristela this past weekend at a very reasonable price. The venue is perfect for a comedy club very intimate. We got the dinner before the show and it was surprisingly delicious. The only flaw I found was the order we were herd to the main room. My partner and I had finished dinner and walked over to the patio bar. No one ever gave us the heads up to wait around because we'd be seated shortly. After getting a drink we heard a call for the main room and we join the others as were herded through the venue. We later we were told if we had a green bracelet (which means you had dinner) than our group was already seated. A little instruction would be nice. Yesterday was a nightmare. 1. The studio was packed and I mean PACKED. All the booths / tables were reserved. We had two options- sit in the front or sit in a corner high table. We chose the corner high table. 2. It was hot - normally it's freezing in there. 3. No one came to us and get our drink / food order. We were hungry and we were going to settle for their small portion food that are very overpriced. 4. A waitress came up to us to tell us this table was taken by a man.. said if he came back we have to move. I told her " we were told to sit here" and she said "well I'm telling you now this table was taken!!" Such a rude waitress. 1st time at Ice House: almost seamless experience. Went to support a friend and every aspect of the evening was on point. 2nd time: Not so much. Raved to my friends about Ice House after that experience and convinced them to come with me to a "Cool Beans" show I was e-mailed about, featuring Alonzo Bodden. I've always been a big fan of his so it was a motivating factor. Once we got there, I was just...embarrassed. I had bragged to my friends about what an amazing experience it was the first time but this time around it was annoyance after annoyance. First of all, the door guy (who looks like he hates his job), played like a bouncer at a club. Barked at us when we strolled towards the cashier that we needed to get behind the podium. I get it, you're not open yet, but you could be nice about telling everyone to line up...especially as the confused people behind us were wondering what the hold up was. He finally let us in...but after we checked in with the cashier who then waved us into the room, he barked at us again that we were to go out on the patio and wait because they weren't ready. Clear lack of communication between the staff. This was around 6:45pm when the show was supposed to start at 7pm (doors opened at 6:30pm). Mass chaos outside, you could tell the audience was disgruntled, just overall disorganization. The two "hosts" of the night were dashing back and forth but even they were not communicating to everyone or throwing a smile to us. When we were seated, we were seated next to an overweight woman taking up 1 1/2 seats but were still expected to occupy only one seat per person. Can we say sweaty thighs and claustrophobia? On a brighter note, our server was awesome, and comedian JUSTIN HIRES made our night...turns out after all that hoopla Alonzo Bodden the "headliner" wasn't even performing!! I get that it was a free show but it was still false advertising and if there was a last minute emergency I sure wish they had announced to all those who came specifically for him. I have been coming to the Ice House since 1974 and Yea I'm an old guy! You name it I saw it ,from Robin Williams to Mule Deer to Letterman it was a Blast! We just saw Craig Shoemaker a few weeks ago and he was Great! The Theater seems more up close now and everything is Beautiful inside. If I were to make a suggestion it would be to rehang all the comedians Pictures back up that made The Ice House what it was and is Now! It would be such an honor to those comedians that we have lost and to those that are still with us. I have been going to the Ice House for over 25 years. The remodel is FANTASTIC. They FINALLY put in some real restrooms. The service was fair however the drinks were HORRIBLE! Prior to our show we sat in the bar and could see the bartenders at work. They over poured drinks nonstop. We ordered a round of drinks sent them back and settled for a Coke. When we went in for the show and ordered our two-item minimum, Tom our server took our order. When our drinks were served they were HORRIBLE!! Tom took the drinks back and had a different bartender make new drinks....when he returned....the drinks were HORRIBLE!! Overpouring and no balance in flavor. We had to settle for Coke and a food item we took home to meet the minimum. NOT SO FUN WHEN YOU WANT A GREAT SHOW AND GOOD DRINK. A call to Jon Taffer needs to be made before this place goes downhill. I would recommend sticking with drinks they can't screw up like beer or wine. read more

I went to see Craig Shoemaker and he was hilarious - highly recommended! His shows are special events so if you see him on the roster in the future, definitely go but be prepared that he makes sexual jokes so don't bring your kid unless you're okay with that. The Club itself is a small venue and can get crowded when there are too many people. Also, there's only one toilet for the woman's restroom and it's not dirty like nasty gas stations but also not super clean. There was no soap in the dispenser so bring hand sanitizer. Drink requirement: Once you are inside the showroom, you are required to purchase 2 drinks. If you buy at the bar outside, it doesn't count. I had the moscato which tasted like Stella's and it was $8. The other drink was some cucumber special which i didn't like too much. read more

Robin Williams...Lily Tomlin...George Carlin...Steve martin...Bob Newhart. and others too numerous to mention have all wowed audiences in an intimate 200 seat showroom. STATS: Wednesday - Friday 4:00 pm - 12:00 am Saturday & Sunday 6:30 pm - 12:00 am Fee parking structure across the street Street parking Online/phone reservations accepted Arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime $20.00-27.00 18 & over Two drink minimum (non-alcoholic is acceptable) EXPERIENCE: It's been a bit over a decade since I've been to the Ice House for some laughs. Fellow hiker purchased tickets online and we arrive well before the required 30 time so we could hang in the bar sipping on hoppy suds. After check-in we were escorted to the bar area. The bar wasn't crowded at the time as we were able to snag a table and a couple bar stools. Just as we were finishing up, a host entered the bar and instructed everyone to line up. Being very close to the entryway of the showroom, we didn't have to stand in line long before we were seated. Since it wasn't a sell out, we were able to pretty much choose our seats. Not wanting to be picked on, we choice the darkest seats in a corner. Server was quick to come by and take our drink orders, both beverages ordered at the same time to minimize distractions during the show. Beverage selection is limited and a bit on the pricy size. Surprised?! Shouldn't be, they gotcha. And don't think ordering a carbonated drink will save you any money, they are just as expensive. Not great. Expensive and unfunny. Maybe this is one of those times when Pasadena has a lot to learn from Hollywood. While I'm ecstatic to see a comedy club budding with locals near old town, a place giving the retired couples a night-out option, like our lackluster bar scene here in Pasadena, the Ice House would crash and burn if ever greeted with the west side's competition. If you are a tourist, or just unfamiliar with the area, you might find the path here daunting. The streets are all one-way and either a curse or a blessing depending on fate. Street parking is possible but not plentiful. You might get lucky. Perhaps because I've seen so many amazing free shows scattered about town. Perhaps because I've seen so many about-be-famous-soon comedians on the cheap? Example: I saw Kevin James perform at a blues club in Hermosa when I was a kid. Price tag? ZERO dollars. How many stars? A freaking million. That guy is hilarious live! The small clubs, the big clubs, the Laugh Factory and the Comedy Store, my favorite moments, other than laughing my ass off, (I love to laugh) have always been seeing them before their ships sails in. The might-be-the-next-Steve Martin types. The stand up circuit exists to try the fate belonging to the next generation of Hollywood's brightest. But in the land of one-way streets, big-ticket entry and two-drink minimums, you had better bring it. Maybe they do sometimes. The night that I came, they didn't. The stage was awkward and old. The host was charismatic but not funny. He introduced several comedians. Each, with a small claim to fame likened to having a single line in a not-too-recent- movie. I wanted to laugh. I even did a couple of times. Mostly because I didn't want the talent to feel bad. I'm a sympathetic audience of one. This sympathy does not venture elsewhere where certain things should not be faked.;-) My REAL laugh is VERY loud. The reason requires another story. A short one this time. My mother's WASP family laughed softly and discreetly. I was about 6 years old when I heard an African American woman laughing on the bus. It sounded like church bells to my ears. I crossed my fingers and hoped with all of my heart that when I grew up, I could learn to laugh that loud. Of all the goals I'd set for myself at 6, I think that this might be the only one I've lived up to. Ice House. I had a table near the stage with my friends; a good seat. On top of the ticket price, my tab was $60+ dollars for an order of french fries and my two drink minimum. The drinks. 1 star. Those of you who know me well can attest to the fact that I am a LIGHT weight. You've seen me jump on top of the bar trying to sing the star spangled banner with my eyes fixed on a mannequin whom I'd sworn my eternal love for. So if the drinks are not strong enough for me, they are not strong enough for anyone. In conclusion, if a $100 per person night out is what you are after? Keep in mind that here, that $100 includes an entry fee, a couple of drinks with a drop of the good stuff and a lot of ice, an order of french fries, and.... at least the night that I visited, not much in the shape of laughter. You might be luckier than me. YOU might visit on a night with a better line up. You might have a hundred bucks to toss out every five minutes. To me, there is so much talent in this town. So many funny people entertaining us just to get their name out there and find their lucky break. I'm here to help! You have funny jokes? I will laugh at them! Let me in on the cheap and I'll have the chance to buy a bottle of wine for my friends. Bottle of wine + funny jokes = even funnier! "It's everywhere you go....I went to Subway to get a sandwich, why is THIS a problem?! It's a SANDWICH! Got behind the guy, looked like it was his first time EVER. Just a look of bewilderment. Confusion....IT SAYS STEP ONE PICK BREAD! YOU DON SEE DAT?!" I laughed so hard with my friends that night, the muscles in my face went numb and I walked out with a side cramp. Sebastian Maniscalco is a class act, as are all the performers that do shows at the infamous Ice House in Pasadena. The venue is small so no matter where you sit, you have a great view of the stage and the performer. As with most comedy clubs there's a two drink minimum; I sprang for the Michelada and the Bahama Mama, both of which were excellent! The best part was getting to meet Sebastian, who was gracious enough to wait outside to sign autographs and take pictures with his fans, yours truly included! Great comedians, small cute venue, easy parking. My stomach and face muscles always hurts after every visit, guarenteed! Dinner food is blah, nothing special, taste just like Denny's. Parking on the street or at the lot across the street ($4.50) and you CAN park there overnight. The only thing I dislike about this place is the forced 2 drinks minimum. For a lightweight like me, 2 will easily make me unable to walk in a straight line. So, I had to leave my car in the lot last weekend and picked it up 5 hrs later after I sobered up w/ 10 bottles of water. Always a good time. read more

[Rating on the Venue, not the acts] I came here on Saturday night to support a friend. Who would have known that going to this comedy house would cost so much money? The first obvious expense are the $20 entrance tickets. Be sure to check on Groupon and third party sites to find discounted tickets! They do exist!! The tickets recommends you to come in early. Be aware, if you do come early, you are most likely to wait in the bar and buy drinks. The drinks are carefully measured with jiggers and you do not get one drop more/less... unless you pay extra. Their mediocre alcohol was not cheap and I remember being charged ~$11 for a simple vodka soda. Once you enter the performance area, the usher asks how many people are in your party and seats you in a large yet packed room. I guess this is why it's important to come here a little bit earlier... because you may miss out on a good seat. The seats are not permanent and you can ask to move before the show begins. Prior to the performance, the waitress/waiter takes your REQUIRED two drink minimum orders. If you ordered a drink at the bar, your bar drink is NOT included as your two drink requirements. Their cocktail menu is pretty large and it is roughly 12 - $14. Fortunately you can order non-alcohol drinks, and meet their drink requirements as well. The performances started a couple of minutes late and it was quite entertaining. Even if the acts were over-the-top amazing, I really didn't like how this venue has so many strict requirements. My lady and I had the pleasure of coming through Ice House for a show the other weekend, it'd been a long time since I'd seen a comedy show and this place was just what the doctor ordered. I enjoyed the decor and setup of the place, it's got an old school comedy club vibe which I enjoy. Old photos of acts from decades past and dimly lit, some people may find the place a bit faded but I was into it. Multiple bars with plenty of bartenders ready to get you buzzed too. The show we caught was "just alright" with half of the comics lacking a bit of creativity. Or maybe they just weren't our cup of tea who knows. But the other half kept the laughs flowing and anything else that was lacking was definitely made up for by our amazing server Nancy who took care of us perfectly all night. I have to say with that many customers in one room with tables all over and everyone clamoring for drinks the minute they sit down it takes stellar servers like Nancy and her comrades to make sure they get to everyone to keep those drinks flowing. Thank you, Nancy! I'd love to come back. Ice House is a bit of a trek from Santa Monica so next time I might research the comics a little more, find the perfect fit, and then make a move. Okay.. I remember coming here in 2001 watching Dane Cook (Good Luck Chuck) perform live on stage before he got famous... Looking back, this place has never changed.. It's a small stage but this is where the live comedy entertainment happens in Pasadena... My friends took me here on my birthday and it's an excuse for me to bring my new lens for my camera.. The interior still looked the same with photos of other comedians in the past... Fritz Coleman (weather guy channel 4) was there that night to raise funds for the ASPCA Humane Society.. He said he does this once in a while to release stress.. He's a very funny guy.. Other comedians performed before Fritz also... Usually it's about $25 with buying minimum 2 drinks... $5 parking across the street of Mentor.. The ice house is quite small and it could get cramped when crowded but better than the laugh factory in sunset blvd which is jammed pack... I would come here again if there is another funny comedian performing.. I missed the performance of Bobby Lee (MadTV) in September =( read more
