A friend asked for a custom sangria, and the bartenders didn't hesitate to whip up something delicious. The bar team here knows their craft and is happy to create whatever you throw at them. Favorite restaurant to visit when we come to St Augustine. This year, I got to bottle my own whiskey! Downstairs, there is a distillery you can tour and a gift shop. The restaurant is upstairs with plenty of air conditioned seating and a bar. Service is always quick and the menu is very succinct. I ordered the mule and the 1/2 lb ice plant burger . The mule is outstanding and the burger is cooked to request and seasoned well. After lunch, wife took me to the distillery to bottle my own bottle of 6 year old whiskey. They walk you through the entire process: filling the bottle, filling out the label and customizing with your info, and corking the bottle, It's not cheap, but definitely a cool experience! read more

I'm happy we finally got to see experience this place as our friends said we would love it and that we did! I love that this place is farm to table so everything is fresh. Also, I love the ambiance of this place, it's really industrial but has low lighting for a romantic date night which I loved. When you first arrive, there are stairs that you walk up to lead you to the restaurant which it's very open and spacious-2 bars on each side of the restaurant with seating on both sides. The bar I liked because it wasn't too close to the main seating area so if you couldn't find an area at the bar there is lots of room to stand and not be in the way of others. As we waited, I got a drink-forgot the name but it was strong and good. They don't skimp on the liquor. Once we were seated, our friends recommended to get the blue crab beignets and we got the truffle fries, OMG both were delicious especially the beignets-I definitely want to go back just for those! As for my entree, I got the catch of the day which was the corbia and it was delicious. You can taste every bit of how fresh and seasoned the fish and all the components were! It was super filling too. My husband got the fried chicken and hoecakes and he absolutely LOVED his and couldn't finish it all. Luckily we found 2 seats at the bar and the magic began. As we reviewed the menu we had made our decision. Me= Saltburn. It got me at Tequila and jalapeño. The drink was smooth with a small bite. Although I had hoped for spicer there was no disappointment My Friend = Lolita. A delicious concoction of Vodka,elderflower and Grapefruit. It was beautifully pink! Why did I not know about this place!? I have to credit seeing this listed on the 2025 Top 25 Places to Eat list for Jax. When I arrived, I came just in time for happy hour which starts at 2:30pm and ends at 5pm. Per the Yelp reviews, I knew I needed to try the blue crab beignets. I also glanced over the happy hour cocktail menu and ordered the champagne cocktail. As the beignets came out, immediately I was shook! These were huge and as you cut into them, wow! The beignets were filled with fresh blue crab meat, the dough itself wasn't undercooked at all. It was very soft with that crispy exterior. I couldn't even eat both of them because they were huge and also I wanted to save room for my lunch. I ordered the grilled octopus and chorizo tacos, which my server said was a great choice. I was thrilled when they came out. The grilled octopus had the perfect chewy texture and seasoning. The chorizo had a little bit of a kick and was an interesting pairing with the grilled octopus and sweet pineapples. The plantains were soft on the inside with a perfect crisp on the ends. We come to the distillery tour all the time, but recently visited their upstairs restaurant ice plant for the first time. We were incredibly disappointed that they continue to add ice throughout making each cocktail so by the time they give it to you, there are only two sips with a straw before it's empty. We stopped by Ice Plant on a chilly Saturday afternoon around 2pm for drinks. Already by that time, both bars were standing room only! There were lines at both bars as the bartenders worked to catch up. Once we got our cocktails, I understood the hype. My cocktail, Valley of the Dolls, was SO good. Basically a fancy vodka cran, the lemon and Jamaican bitters added that tartness I love that keeps a drink from being overly sweet. This converted warehouse has the typical industrial vibe, but they've done so in a way that is elevated from typical casual. I liked the decor and industrial bones of the building. This building once was an ice plant back in the day. The bar creates some great cocktails and presses the ice into its shapes. Located in the same old ice factory as St. Augustine Distillary. This restaurant is upstairs and not affiliated. The drinks are very expensive in my personal opinion and nothing spectacular. As the name implies, this building used to be an old ice plant and they still make ice in this building today! The brunch menu was extensive and we ordered a variety of options including the grilled cheese, egg sandwich, fried chicken and more. Everything had great flavor and balance. I'm sure anything on the menu is delicious! We didn't try any of their cocktails but I'd definitely return to explore more of their offerings. We started with drinks and appetizers...the fries were hot and crispy and well seasoned with salt and herbs, the fish dip came with house made fries and was delicious, and the pimento cheese with toasted baguettes was AMAZING (hello guava jam on the pimento cheese)! For my first drink I had the Viva La Vida...it came in a coupe glass and without any of their famously hand carved ice but the drink was strong and perfectly sweet and great! I went with the chicken Banh Mi and truffle Parmesan fries for my main. Get. In. My. Belly! So good but I was so full from the apps I could only make a decent dent in the generous amount of fries and pack away only half of the sandwich...both items were perfectly cooked and flavorful! For my last drink I had the License to Chill...this one does come with their hand carved pebbled ice. This gin drink was flavored with peach, and sage, and was almost a perfect gin peach iced tea! There's a happy hour a few times a day and check their chalkboard for the drink special which was $7 and sounded good, but I had no more room! I cannot believe I haven't written a review for The Ice Plant. We stumbled on this lovely establishment by you recommendation from you guessed it...YELP. We really wanted to go for the distillery experience after going on the Sabastian Wine Tour. I immediately fell in love before even tasting the food. I've been on other distillery tours, but this distillery has so many options for tasting and even make a sample cocktail. We went upstairs to get a few apps to soak up all the alcohol and got another experience. The upstairs gives hipsters speakeasy. The bartenders are true mixologists. They make their own shrubs and juices. I hope one day they expand their drink menu. I haven't had one bad thing on the menu. I will tell you I live for the end of summer/early fall season because that's when the crab beignets are on the menu. Florida hasn't figured out crab cakes yet (sorry not sorry, I'm from Baltimore where we live and breathe crabs), but The Ice Plant comes pretty dang close. The light batter mixed with the well seasoned crab meat is the chef's kiss. This is always one of the stops when we have out of town visitors.
