Great place for lunch or dinner. Kitchen open until 12:30 and closes at 2am. No bad or ugly here. Been here twice and happy to go back. Food is very good and healthy sized portions. Had the lamb burger the first time, which was great. This time I had the yummy shaved beef toastie, with sauteed onions and mushrooms, came with good fries and coleslaw I enjoyed. Son had the shaved beef mac and cheese both times with sangria. Since we happened to be there during happy hour we had the $5 sangria and the $4 Tullamore DEW whiskey sour. Everything was very good and our waiter waa great, especially for being short staffed that particular day. Waiter was super helpful as hubby ordered the double smash burger and the waiter poibted out the HH special would net him 2 regular burgers for less. We were in St Augustine for the weekend and looking for somewhere to get Happy Hour. We found Barley Republic and their specials sounded good so we decided to check it out. Their HH is til 7pm, $5 smash burgers and wings as well as various drink specials. We both got smash burgers, added fries ($2) and cheese ($1.50) + fried pickles. Our server was pretty absent, we had to flag her down many times and were left waiting around looking for her. My SO got the bacon washed Old Fashioned and it was the smallest OF we've ever seen. His glass wasn't even filled 2 fingers full and thats with a big ice cube in it. It was pretty pitiful and he said it was just ok tasting. Our server dropped our food and said she'd bring us silverware and napkins and after waiting for at least five minutes I went to the server station and got them myself. This was a repeating pattern with her, she'd say she'd get us something and then never followed through. Our burgers were good, as were the fries, especially for the price. We also ordered the fried pickles which were spears cut into small pieces that were breaded and fried. They were good as well! The food definitely saved our overall experience but i'm not sure we'll be returning anytime soon. read more

This was my first time here, but a lot in our group had been here before and said it was a "must stop" on our adult evening in St Augustine. We were able to get a table upstairs for 8-10 people. It was cozy up there, and they had a large projector screen to watch college football. They had a good holiday cocktail list- the peppermint espresso martini was amazing! Just the right hint of peppermint but not overpowering. The other popular choice in our group was the Xmas Old Fashioned. Food wise- we got some chicken tenders and curry pub fries. Just wanted some things to snack on, and they hit the spot. Service was pretty quick also with it being St Augustine during Nights of Lights season. I'm not sure now why I chose Barley Republic for dinner, aside from their dog-friendly patio, but that was a good enough reason. I'd called ahead to double-check that we could bring Gilligan, since Nights of Lights was ongoing, and I also wanted to see if we could get on the waitlist. Yes for dogs; no for a reservation or call-ahead list. But I was assured the wait on a table for four around 6pm on the first Saturday of December wouldn't be more than about 45 minutes. Our wait was at least that long, though we were able to get drinks & hang out on the open side patio for most of our wait. Unfortunately, it started raining before we were seated, and there wasn't much of any covered wait area. We relocated near the entrance to get out of the rain, and I think we ended up getting a table quicker because our small group was kind of in the way of the main entrance. Their covered porch wasn't large but, as I mentioned, it's dog-friendly. We were seated in the corner, with mostly bench seating, so our 15lb chiweenie could sit with us instead of on the ground. After he had a few bites, he was able to lay down & snooze, too, in spite of all the noise from both the street & restaurant. I ordered Baked Mac & Cheese and added the fried chicken thigh. It was very tasty! Hubs enjoyed the Reuben sandwich, which had a lot of corned beef. My son liked his BYOB Burger, and my DIL also enjoyed the Fried Haddock sandwich with a side of cole slaw. And we all loved the fries! Service was good throughout. We really appreciated the open waiting area on the side porch. Until it started raining, this was an ideal spot with a ledge for drinks and bar stools. We'll definitely return on a future St Augustine visit. read more

We actually stumbled on Barley House by accident, early for a guided tour that met in the lot next door we went in for a couple drinks and a snack. The variety of drinks were outstanding and the choices for all of the 3 couples were more than enough. We can recommend the chicken fingers and the fried oreos were amazing. We stumbled onto this place because it was one of the only kitchens open after 11. What a happy accident. Our server was very nice and gave us some great suggestions. We had the lamb burger with a side of Mac n cheese and the shrimp tacos. The burger was cooked to perfection and the goat cheese complimented it perfectly. The Mac and cheese tasted homemade (no fake cheese taste or consistency). My wife she loved her tacos and said that they tasted like "real food" as opposed to all the prepackaged, artificial crap you get out there. Highly recommend this place!!! My husband & I were walking the Historic downtown St. Augustine area when we stumbled upon this little pub. Thought we'd give them a try. Once i side we saw a sign advertising $5 happy hour food and drink specials. My husband decided to get the $5 smash burger and the $5 wings. First off, we waited a long time for our food when finally another waiter came to our table and said he had accidentally given our food to another table and they were making our food again! Okay, sure, it happens! We finally get our food. My husband's wings & burger were decent, nothing crazy to write home about. The brussel sprouts were HORRIBLE! I love brussel sprouts but these were woodsy & gross! There were supposed to have "applewood bacon, caramelized shallots & diced green apples tossed with honey"! I never got one piece or taste of bacon or the apples!!! I had to pull several "stick" like pieces out of my mouth while eating these! I did not finish them and my husband even tried them and also agreed NOT GOOD! So disappointing! But this is what really chapped my hide.... I asked for a little bit of extra gravy for my poutine and after my husband paid the bill I said that seems extremely high for what we got.... I start looking at the itemized bill ( we had to ask for because when you pay they just bring a hand held machine and you pay, you don't even see the itemized bill first) and they had charged me $3 for e tea gravy and charged for my husbands blue cheese that came with his wings & had charged for another small item I can't remember right now!!!! In my eyes,........ since we had to wait DOUBLE THE TIME FOR OUR FOOD DUE TO A WAITERS ERROR why are you charging me for some extra gravy!?!? No complaints here - this is a straight forward Irish pub located on a quieter street off of St. George. I grabbed a table on their outdoor patio in front to enjoy a pint and laid back meal. (Little did I know that a sizeable group of dudes chose this as their meeting spot causing it to quickly fill up and get boisterous for a bit. Kudos to my server Mike for navigating the sudden crowd). The lamb burger is what drew me here, and it did not disappoint. It is described as a half pound of lamb (although I thought I saw that it was a mix of beef and lamb somewhere), with arugula, goat cheese and a red wine onion gastrique. That was as good as it sounds everything complimented the burger so well. The meat was the focus with the plump burger extending pass the bun. The steak fries that came with this were perfect. I had a Guinness and it was decent pour - perhaps a bit too much head. I tried another local beer on tap, but I believe they might change their offerings from time to time. read more

Great for late night eats! After searching and searching around St Augustine for food after 9pm. We asked the locals who directed us to Barley Republic. Glad they did! We got well made drinks, my hubby is a Old Fashion guy and was very happy with his drink. We were excited to get food here! Great late night hangout! We had just come back from our sightseeing drive and it was late. All the eateries were closing down. A couple of cool security guards suggested the Barley Republic Public House. We got ourselves a table outside on the porch and ordered ourselves sangrias and some food including Country Fried Okra (my favorite small plate) and a Lamb Burger. The sangria hit the spot and the Okra scored big with me and the Lamb Burger (Medium-rare) was delicious! We had a good time the first night and ended up here a second night for more. This was a Saturday night and the place was buzzing at around 10:30 PM. The young lady at the bar seemed a bit stretched, but we got our sangrias, again, and shortly after got our table. The food arrived soon enough and was pretty good again, and I must say our servers were just great both nights. If we ever get to visit St. Augustine again, Barley Republic Public House will definitely be on the list for a late night drink and/or munchies! read more

We stopped in for drinks and late night food since we got into town late. They allowed dogs in the patio and stay open late so it was the perfect place! The espresso martini was delicious and featured a local coffee place. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and even gave us tips and tricks for stuff around town. I came across Barley Republic Public House when walking with my friends and we grabbed some snacks and drinks before an upcoming reservation. We went not too long after opening and sat on the patio and enjoyed our experience. The service was great and the food was fantastic too. This was my first real poutine experience (I've previously tried them for the first time at Disney and they weren't great) but these were amazing. I finished the whole thing. The tater tots also had the most perfect crunch! I'm a fried pickle girl through and through and theirs were good but def not the best I've had. I still enjoyed them though. This is a great place for food and drinks. It has a great selection of brews and whiskies. We had the 10 piece bone in wings and they were very good. The ranch dressing is very thick and it tasted great. I was surprised at how busy the place was at 11:30pm but as it is one of the few places in St. Augustine with food that late it made sense. The server was very nice. She was busy but getting what we ordered did not take overly long. It is not a fancy place and it is what you would expect from an Irish public house..the music was classic rock and a little loud but tolerable.
