These were envelopes, photo albums and a lot of loose photos. A few details I want to say: In addition to getting a harddrive with all of the high quality scans, I received all of my photos back in 3 archival photo boxes that were also labeled and organized. I wanted to have all of the photos in iCloud, and they were extremely easy to work with on setting that up, so now all of those older family photos are in my iPhone in date order. I can just scroll back all the way, and share them with anyone in my family. They are competent, professional, knowledgeable and so nice! I can't wait to start another project with them making a printed photo album.

You choose a background and the photographer (Tom) leads you through poses and will give you instructions on how to angle your head, where to look, and how to stand, so you don't choose any poses on your own. He does touch you to arrange your group's posing (pushing aside hair, leading you to where to stand, and rearranging prompts). We paid $85 fo a group of five people, got 5 poses (one set of smiling photos and one set of non smiling), and all of the photos are given to you digitally so bring a memory stick. They sell memory sticks there and can print the photos for you, but we stuck to bringing our own. They also sell film. Cash only.

They now offered the owner Peter Kwong $100 a year instead of their regular contract. This is likely the only CPU that accepted such a ridiculous offer but Peter wanted to keep it open for the community, especially the elders that need this service. Peter has been operating at a loss for the last 26 year but now he will really be bleeding red. The workers need their job and the community needs this USPS. I know there has been comments about their service but please give grace to the older worker and please support its cause. We are fighting for the community so hope you all can do the same but making this USPS your go to USPS.

This place is hands down the place to go to get your images touched/blown up to the utmost highest standards. I am an amateur photographer, but after seeing my work come to fruition by The Icon I feel like I am at a completely different level! Jossi is the consummate professional and will take very good care of you, as the rest of the staff there are, too. I always get my film processed at The Icon. It's a super quick turn around for process only and a few days extra for process and scan. Everyone at the front counter is knowledgeable on film and printings. It's the only place I'll take my film to now that I know about proper processing techniques. read more

I took the negatives out and showed the employees. He confirmed what I saw which was dents in my negatives from being folded.. I asked if this is something they usually do at this lab and he said yes. YES! Wtf He asked if I was going to scan them or something and I said yes I am (this order was dev only I scan all my medium and large format films.) I said regardless of whether I was scanning them I would not want my negatives handled this way. It almost seemed like he thought the negatives were trash? Like if they scanned them why do I care about the negs ‍ I told them I normally receive my negatives rolled and they come in a box or a spool to avoid damage. I said if I ever choose to come back (I won't) I would not want my film handled in this manner or anybody else's film really. BE AWARE! Negatives are treated like trash there

It saddens me that people conduct their business in this way. I was also pressured and forced to pay online in full the night before I was to pick up the tapes or else I couldn't retrieve them. I had to stop what I was doing to pay on my cellphone while being out at a dinner. What a joke. Super unprofessional and horrible experience. I do not recommend.

But, even for the subtleties that are needed to light certain scenes, Alan Gordon has the fixtures that can make it happen. Some people complain about rental equipment not always working from this company. For the most part that's not true. But sure, I've had that happen to me a few times as well in the past. But, the reality is, where else are you going to get that camera or that whatever at a reasonable price? And, as a filmmaker this is an occurrence you should be prepared for. This is why it's always important to have a back up for anything that you do not personally own and are sure that's going to work.
