We saw three comedians here on a Wednesday night - the two headliners were Billy Bonnell and Raj Sharma. A comedian also emceed the show and told jokes of his own. There was a definite progression in comedic quality from emcee to second comic to third comic. The third comic Raj Sharma was probably the best of the three although his routine consistently mostly of poking fun at the audience members via interaction (he actually apologized in a funny way at the end for not telling any jokes). A lot of the material is adult. Tickets $25 each which is pretty low for any show inside a casino resort. We had a hot tea and bottled water total was only $4.50 plus tip. Of course if you're a gambler your tickets and drinks might be comp'ed (free). On a Wednesday night in December you could have most any seat you wanted in the house including front row center. Only the first three rows were occupied. A continuing theme from the comics was that the audience or at least certain members of the audience weren't "getting it" or laughing enough. I love comedy and going to comedy shows. When we received two free tickets to see a show at the Improv at Harveys, and it coincided with the time we were going to be at the lake, i jumped all over it. Free is good. The showroom is medium size and they sit you one half hour before the show starts. Seating is first come first serve. There are waitresses to take drink orders. There usually is two headliners and a mc who warms you up. If you want to laugh and have some fun, come over to the Improv. read more

Came here to see a show during my last trip to South Lake. The venue was alright, but nothing special. The staff was nice and helpful. One annoying thing, however, was that we were seating on the right side facing the stage, near the door. Throughout the show people, would leave the room to go use the bathroom outside, but the door would lock behind them so people locked out would just start knocking on the door. As you can imagine, that is distracting when you are trying to watch a comedy show. No staff member was stationed by the door to open it, so audience members kept getting up to let each person back in. Seems an easy fix would be to unlock the door, or keep someone staffed there throughout the show to make sure the door is opened when it needs to be. Other than that, it was nice that there was no drink requirement and the local comic who MC'ed was pretty funny. The headliners were good too, and change every few days, so I would check it out again next time I come to town...I would just sit far from the door. read more

Seen a ton of comedians here. They're normally not the most popular comedians or maybe they were at some point. However, I've never passed on a free show comped by the casino unless I had better plans. Laughing is good for the soul right? I've had many a laugh here some were surprisingly funny or so off what else can you do but laugh. Comedy is always fun! Anyway, would I pay $40 for this show? Hmmm, probably not unless I was a fan of someone on the lineup. Anyway the Improv is an old school comedy club literally that's probably never been updated like many other comedy spots around the country. They normally have a fan on stage or beside the stage. The waitress are good. The longtime host Howie maybe the highlight of the night. All in all it's a good 1.5 hour break from the casino taking your $$$ read more

This is a super fun venue. It's big enough to accommodate a decent crowd but it still feels intimate. Those that want to heckle or become part of the act can sit up front and those (like me) that want to enjoy but not be a part of it have ample seating choices in the back. The cocktail waitresses came around frequently and actually check back to see if you need anything. I'm used to having to flag them down with smoke signals or road flares. The price is a little steep; I think it was around $70 for both of us but it is Tahoe. Definitely worth a visit, but try to find a 2-for-1. read more

I explicitly asked on the phone if there would be any vulgar content, and the person at the casino and the concierge told me no. The three acts were so offensive and vulgar, all about sex and blatantly vulgar sexual jokes, I felt very upset and offended by the content as well as the wild reception of the crowd. Clearly the casino was more interested in making s buck than being honest on the phone. They also strongly assured me the cost was only $30 a ticket, and absolutely no service charge would be added. Our group of 8 came here on Saturday night. We saw Bobby Collins and Jack Coen. Hilarious!! Everyone was dying of laughter. I was worried we wouldn't be able to all sit together since we came right when the show started, but luckily there was plenty of room! I have not been to this event until July 1st, what a waste of money and time! I learned to be cautious on the comedians, if you want to call themselves entertainers. All three acts were vulgar and the entire act was focused on LGBT, did someone forget to tell them that the population does not only consist of this group? My husband and I went to the Improv last night and we really enjoyed it. The host seemed to have somewhat of a sorethroat but the comedians were very funny. We had a very particular audience too so that helped. I will be definitely be going back here next week! This place is geat and under appriciated. Where else can you get comedy five days a week at a reasonable price. They have an opening act and a headliner and Howie as the MC. Overall the experience was good. The wait staff was slow as molasses, got our first and only drink order 15 minutes before show was complete, so have a few drinks before going in. If MK Paulson is on the ticket just say pass. This guy was awful, told us every other sentence that he was from Texas. The other sentences he told us he was gay and very graphically explains what he likes sexually. No jokes, not funny just a sad explanation of his life. At the comedy club the online tickets stated that the club started at 10 pm so when we arrived at 945 to get the tickets, the box office was dark and the comedy club was going. We went to the concierge office and it was closed. So we went to registration clerk next door. They said that there was nothing they could do. Come back tomorrow. I asked to talk to there boss and an Ala Jean went back in an office for 15 min and then came out and told us there was nothing they can do. There was nobody available to take care of our issue. All we want is our $30 back that was fraudulently advertised and not honored. 30$..... read more

We have seen two comedy shows here and enjoyed them both! With the TR card we always get two free show tickets, can't beat free! Always a great way to end the night and laugh until your face hurts. Upon arriving you are greeted by a hostess and shown to your seats. We have gone on nights where it's not busy, so we got to pick what row we want to sit in. Waitresses come to you and take drink orders, ours were $7 each. Good deal since show is free. A small, intimate venue and we always get a good laugh! read more

This was awful. The were no funny and they allowed a female in the audience to interject on early every joke and mess up the flow.

We were in town for a week to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Chose this as one of the nights out. The comedy was so-so, but the theater itself is small and cozy. No bad seats, everything is close to the stage. The main reason for my review is to warn you to NOT order a mixed drink, of ANY kind. You would think I'd be safe with a martini, but no. What I got was the remainder from the shaker a half hour after the bartender made the last one for someone else. Seriously.If you make martinis at home, you know what I am talking about. My wife's cosmo was equally as dismal. We switched to beer after that, since I know what is coming in the bottle. Our headliner was Judy Gold. A quick note to Judy....we get that you are gay AND jewish. It's funny for about 3 minutes, then you should move on. When you have to remind the audience "that joke was funny!", it probably isn't. Lastly, the audience knows it when you give up and go to the "F__K" everything routine. We enjoyed our evening despite your little outburst to the audience member personally. read more

We were in town for our anniversary with some friends and went to the show on Wednesday May 2, 2018. I love comedy clubs and am certainly not a prude. The 2nd and 3rd act were terrible!!! We were so disappointed. I couldn't believe the Improv would put such low class and disgusting acts in a classy place such as Lake Tahoe. I'm mad at myself for not walking out. This place is great! I'd recommend getting there early so you have first picks on a good seat and can start your order with the waitress before everyone else gets there. Tip- I was told by someone at the box office that you can bring your drinks in, so if you already have a drink from the casino, bring that in and it may be cheaper than buying it from the venue. The comedy show was hilarious and there was something for everyone. One of the comedians was younger and raunchier and the main act was more PG but was hilarious! read more
