Came here after Sunday mass and glad we finally did try it. We had the Chopan lamb chops cooked to perfection, tender and medium. Lamb curry is mild than the spicy Indian curry dish we're used to, which is refreshing. Finally, the lamb and beef kofta combo. Beef kofta was just how we liked it, crispy on the outside but soft inside. Lentil soup and nan were complimentary. Two options for seating it's either the floor or the table. On rainy 4th of July me and my friend went on a foodie adventure all over town. We stopped at the Thai restaurant in that same shopping center it was closed. Driving off we saw a sign saying kebab and Afghani restaurant. You can easily miss it! We parked again and decided to try it! Upon entry we were greeted by a very nice guy telling us to sit wherever we like. They have traditional seating on the floor. There was one person enjoying his meal sitting there We opted for a table and got the recommendation from the owner on what to eat. We got 2 plates one the lamb shank and the lamb shops. Each came with a small serving of daal. Both dishes were bursting with flavors! The daal was amazing! If we weren't restaurant hopping I would have ordered a whole bowl to eat! Then the chef came out asking us if we are liking the food... it was a really nice experience to talk culture and food Will definitely be back! read more

Discovered @afghankababhouse on Groupon and thought to check it out for dinner tonight. Sayeed welcomed us and helped explain some of the menu items. All of us tried the Fresh Mango Juice. If you've had the Indian Mango Lassi, it's very similar with a thicker consistency than juice. We had the Boranee Banjan/Eggplant, Lamb Karahi (lamb with gravy), Kabuli Palaw/Lamb Shank with sweet biryani rice with 2 sides of spinach and Chopan Kabab/Lamb Chops. All the food was excellent and tender! The lamb chops were on the spicy side. I believe it's curry spice. There was so much complimentary bread. We also had 2 plates of complimentary salad. We ate quite a bit but also had leftover. If you're in the Medical Center area and looking for an off beaten path place to try, check this place out! read more

We came on Dec 25th after visiting the zoo and were greeted warmly by the young man managing the front. We ordered kabuli pulao (comes with lamb shank), chapli kabab, lamb chops. Everything is halal and came with bread, rice, salad, sauces and lentils. It was all very fresh and delicious. The kids had a great time sitting on the floor and we enjoyed it all. They were very accommodating. We also ordered a pot of green tea, that we all shared. They have separate restrooms for men and women and had a prayer mat/corner available for us. We live about 1.5 hrs away but this restaurant is well worth the trip and we want to go back soon. Thank you for a wonderful experience. read more

Just moved to SA from California and was missing my family/some good Afghan food and Afghan Kebab House made me feel like I was home again! We discovered Afghan Kebab House with good ol' Groupon. There is a large snippet of the menu on the windows when walking in. We were greeted, sat ourselves and menu available on the table. We decided to go with the Family Platter for 4.5 to share. It was excellent. Wow. The lamb chops, probably some of the best lamb chops I've ever had! Chicken kebab and beef kebab were very good too! I was very impressed with this place. It looks hidden but the food is amazing. Saw a Groupon for this place and since I was near by it, I went ahead and purchased it. Drove a few minutes and walked. The place is very uniquely decorated with a seat/lay-down humongous sofa to the left. I had a kid come greet me and gave me the menu (pictured). I wasn't too sure if what to order so I asked him what he recommended. Without hesitation, he pointed to the Kabuli Palaw and mentioned that it was their most popular dish. The kid looked very confident and I went ahead and ordered it along with a bottle of water. When the father brought the food, bread, salad, and sauces, man... I felt like a superstar! The presentation was 5 stars! Everything was well put and organized. The bread was nice and warm, food was delicious, salad was on point, and the service was good. Really discrete location and a little hard to find but totally worth the trouble! A wonderful hidden gem at the heart of the city. The food was extremely fresh and delicious. We ordered the chicken and chapli kebab with rice, which comes with a side of daal. They give you a huge portion of freshly-baked bread that comes with every entrée. My son who's a picky eater begged me to eat there twice in two days, which we did. Owner is also very kind and humble person which is a huge plus. Grabbed a quick bite during my lunch break. Got the kefta kebab sandwich and it was fantastic. The vegetables were fresh and the meat was cooked to perfection.
