Wonderfully renovated property. Various size rooms to suit different needs. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Self serve coffee and tea are available all day. Breakfast is tasty and served in a well designed dining area. Just a 10 minute stroll to the center of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. Not dog friendly. Dogs not allowed in any common areas. Accidentally booked a room that did not allow dogs. The website does not make sufficiently.clear that most rooms do not allow dogs. Elizabeth has made this Inn the perfect retreat for relaxation and enjoying yourself. The attention to detail here is obvious, froM the decor to the amenities, nothing feels cheap or lacking in quality. All of the staff was very kind, and the breakfast is worth a trip alone. We came here from California for a trip with the family (about 10 of us) and she was able to accommodate us and make everyone feel like family. Rooms all had ample room, and are very well put together, with great natural lighting throughout. This is absolutely, hands down, the best place we have ever stayed overnight! Elizabeth, the owner, is so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast every morning was beyond expectations. So so so delicious!! And the cookies in the afternoon were the perfect little treat! The inn is a secluded little place to stay and unwind while also being just a short walk to downtown shopping and restaurants. The rooms are immaculately clean and very comfortable. Lovely BnB even if it not very cozy. Modern BnB. Breakfasts are good and plenty. I am only giving it 4 stars due to a poorly written room information page. It does state that if you want privacy do put the porcelain medallion on the outside of the door and we did not do that. We did how ever per instructions put our dirty towels in the bag provided and instructed to put it out side the door before 11 AM to get fresh towels and we did so. We did get new towels but our room was not attended to, sadly to say (we did follow instructions). Due to us putting the towels outside house keeping did not come in our room. I recommend that they re write the room instruction sheet to inform the customer in a better way how to get their room attended to. For the money they charge for this Inn I wanted to be spoiled and be attended to. FYI! read more

Stayed here two nights last weekend as part of a package through Epitourean/ Marriott Vacation Club. Great, comfortable inn with close proximity to downtown Kennebunk/Kennebunkport. Elizabeth was great and accommodating, we drove up in a snowstorm and she made sure the plow came through before we arrived, and checked on us/ called us when we were 90 minutes delayed from our ETA for check in due to weather. Also offered us an additional night at a discount if we wanted to come up a night early to avoid the bad weather the day before. Winter is apparently the off season since we were the only guests at the inn the Friday we arrived and one of two reservations for the Saturday which was our second night. Weather was terrible so we didn't walk anywhere but it seems the inn is within walking distance of downtown Kennebunk/Kennebunkport (less than 1 mile). Room was nice and there were complimentary sodas and water bottles in the mini-fridge in the shared hallway outside of the room. Had a mini-fireplace (gas) in the room but we had to turn it off occasionally as it would heat the room too high. The suite was a decent size and was comfortable. Breakfast was included both mornings we were there and it was pretty good. We had a private chef teach have a cooking class the 2nd night we were there in the kitchen in the inn (part of the package we booked). The kitchen is very nice. Overall a great and welcoming experience. Would be open to staying again here if in the area. read more

Absolutely my favorite B&B experience, hands down! Such warmth, comfort and ease throughout the inn. Each space I walked into was beautifully styled and had every amenity I would have needed. I had the most amazing breakfasts. So creative, delicious, fresh, and healthy! I stayed only two nights, but wish I could have stayed two weeks! The hosts, David and Kate, were so accommodating and gracious. They were instinctively non-intrusive; expect plenty of privacy. But they welcomed my requests for where to go or what to keep my eyes open for, quick with recommendations from their personal experiences. Everything was just lovely and thoughtfully done. I love the fresh decor and the areas where you can sit with a book or a glass of wine, both indoor and out. Comfortable room, really nice soaps and lotions. I was so happy with everything, AND THEN, I had breakfast! Homemade coffee cake muffin, broiled pineapple with shaved coconut, and the lightest, fluffiest waffles with ham and cheese baked in with maple syrup. It felt so luxurious and also comfortable and relaxing. Elizabeth the innkeeper is so sweet and friendly. She also really knows the area and gave us great recommendations. We took my Mom and our 8 year old Vizsla, Piper, with us to Kennebunkport for 4 nights over the July 4th Holiday. We were so fortunate to be able to reserve the cottage at the Inn which has 2 bedrooms, a small kitchen, sitting area, bathroom and screen porch. It was very charming and very comfortable. In addition to wonderful accommodations, we were treated to a delicious 3-course breakfast every morning, of homemade food and fresh fruit. My husband and I enjoyed a fun and thoroughly relaxing weekend at the Inn at English Meadows. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by innkeeper Elizabeth. The common areas are lovely and there were were fresh-baked cookies (including gluten-free), coffee, tea, and water available. We chose the Serenity room. It was a peaceful oasis, absolutely immaculate and beautifully appointed. We loved every bit, the gas fireplace, the mini-fridge stocked with bottled waters, the Nespresso machine, the roomy bath and oversized shower with multiple shower heads. The bed and linens were luxurious and comfortable. I haven't slept that well in a long time. Breakfast was a treat. We were pampered with full wait service and three courses which were perfectly prepared and very tasty. Although the Inn was almost fully booked, there was plenty of seating at breakfast. There was no rush and we felt welcome to linger over our coffee. The Inn is in a great location. It's close enough to walk to shops, cafes, and restaurants but tucked just far enough away to be off the beaten path. Kennebunk does a Valentine's tribute in February called "Paint the Town Red" and we were so pleased to find most of the shops and galleries open. We had such fun shopping and poking around town. Elizabeth and her team are sincerely dedicated to the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. We can't wait to return to the Inn this summer. read more

It's the number # 1 rated B&B in Kennebunkport on TripAdvisor (sorry another review site) for good reason. Bruce the proprietor takes good care of everyone. From cozy clean accommodations to concierge services and a traditional English breakfast, you could do a lot worse in finding a place to stay in the land of Dubya's Dad. The B&B itself is about an 8 minute walk from the main village area, but it is very quick and no big deal. Ample parking, complimentary sherry in the room, AC, and pure Maine hospitality make this a place I'd definitely go back to. read more

The Inn is situated on a fairly busy street for the area though unless you are in the front room, the Sunrise room, you may not notice the sound of traffic. The Inn was well appointed and the room we stayed in was clean and well equipped. I will say that I felt as though we were staying at a rental unit and not a BNB as the staff was cool and disinterested offering no conversation or warm welcome. If you do not mind the lack of conversation, learning about the Inn or the area you will do fine to stay here. read more

To reiterate a reviewer below, this B&B is under new management and has been for the past year. My fianceé and I had a wonderful time at this inn, where no detail was too small to be overlooked. The main house and carriage house are superbly cared for and breakfast each morning (3 courses) is always very good. Happily, the location is very close to downtown Kennebunkport (perhaps a 5-10 minute stroll) and there is a wonderful little Wine Bar closeby that is not to be missed. The owners were very caring and accomodated a special request given that my fianceé was not feeling well and couldn't make it to breakfast. They also made carafes of chilled water available in the room for when we came back every day. We stayed in the Tack Room, which felt renovated (albeit somewhat small) and I certainly enjoyed the "spa feel" of the bathroom with heated floors and multi-head shower spouts... it was amazing. Although this was only our first time visiting Kennebunk, I am sure it won't be the last time we stay at the English Meadows Inn. read more

Just to correct that person that was so unhappy about the location, Kennebunk/Kennebunkport are separated by the bridge in the Port. While the Inn is not literally in the Port (Kennebunkport) it is steps away and a great location. So to a person not knowing or realizing all the lines drawn, yes it is definitely in Kennebunkport, though not literally. read more

My wonderful husband recently planned a surprise trip to Kennebunkport for my birthday. Unfortunately, he booked us room at The Inn at English Meadows. I was so excited on our drive up, as we have had a busy year, and suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, I was ready for some relaxation! I was extremely disappointed when I entered the inn; not so much for the way it looked, (though for over $350 in early June, our room was very small with an odd layout and definitely extremely over priced) but for the way everything smelled. Because of my Multiple Sclerosis, I am very sensitive to smells, and can become quite ill as a result. It is possible that other people might not notice or be bothered by the smell. Unfortunately, I was. My husband tried to discuss this this the woman owner who would only say, "I can not refund your money". She did offer us another room, but the smell permeated the entire establishment, so that was not an option for us. We had to leave the inn as I was beginning to feel ill, and took another room down the road at The Nonantum Hotel in the newer building, for under $200 a night with a water view, close to town, and not on a busy highway! I emailed the owner and I tried explaining my situation. I admit that I did compliment the look of the inn in an attempt to regain at least part of our $750!!! She said it was a "shame" that I would not even look at another room, and it was disappointing because SHE and my husband had worked so hard to create a nice weekend for me! She made two dinner reservations; she got paid $750, I hope she can get over her disappointment eventually. This woman seems not to understand that not every situation is cut and dry. Believe me, for over $750, I would have stayed in the inn if I could have! We just bought a new house and do not have money to throw away. Who does these days? This woman's inability to be reasonable, or to even discuss the details of my situation is astounding to me. Maybe someday she will realize that people suffer from disabilities that are not alway obvious right away, and perhaps even develop some compassion. I will bring this matter up with my support group, as I am very active in the MS community in Massachusetts. The Inn at English Meadows is definitely not a good choice for anybody with a disability. The owner is inflexible, condescending, and from reading her responses to reviews on another site, I gather she is not capable of handing criticism very well. read more
