The lodge is actually an older but updated road side motel with easy on and off Rt 95 but still quiet. Other motels were 20-30 min drive from Rt 95 and back to proceed north. Basic, clean, comfortable and not overpriced like most of Maine during the Summer. We paid $119. Other chain motels were asking $180-220. Good bed, TV, a/c, wifi, fridge, breakfast included plus a nice clean pool. Charles the manager is a smart guy. read more

You get what you pay for, and more. It is a motel, if you have a problem with that, you might not be happy. If you modulate your expectations for location and price you will be thrilled. Checkin was efficient and friendly. Room is spacious and accommodations are much better than I would expect from a comparable motel 6 or red roof. It was my second stay in a year, and found it clean and reasonably priced. The only complaint I had, was on my second stay. The parking spots for the rooms, are right in front of the room door. Our spop was occupied by someone who left at 4 am every morning, waking us up with their headlights, and starting their car. We recently stayed at this motel for 1 night. We drove about 30 minutes from Portland to here where we rested to get ready for another drive to Boston the following day which was only 1 hour and 30 minutes away. This lodge is near the highway which was very convenient. Our room included some cable, free WiFi and complimentary breakfast. The room was very spacious and clean. They even left us a little nice portable heater which worked very well. Also included a microwave and mini fridge in the room. I was surprised at how well kept this lodge was. Everything was displayed beautifully. The bed....was amazing! It was SOOO comfortable I wish I could take it home. We didn't get to meet the owners or people managing the lodge till the next morning before seeing them before breakfast. But when we did, they were extremely nice people and were very easy to talk to. The complimentary breakfast included waffles, cereal, yogurts, bagels, and some beverages. The reason I'm giving the Lodge four stars is because I'm reviewing it as a motel so please don't read the four stars as an indication that this place is luxurious. It is a really good motel and a great value for travelers on a budget, but it's not anything like a luxurious hotel. We recently went to Kennebunkport for a wedding and made our travel arrangements at this last minute. The cheapest place we could find that looked pretty decent from Yelp reviews was the Lodge at Kennebunk. There are a ton of motels with the word "Lodge" in the name, this review is for the one at 95 Alewive Road. We didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel room extremely clean - the carpet and finishings were cheap (plastic sink, berber carpet), but everything looked very new and was cleaned very well. The maids were there every day at noon on the dot. Service was very helpful and friendly. The owner is a really nice guy & the other folks managing the desk were really nice too. Some nice benefits are a continental breakfast in the morning, onsite bike rentals for $10/day and there is a cool easy path not too far away (the bikes are not very good, but hey it's $10). Helmets are available as well for the safety conscious. Guests are given a beach parking pass for the beaches in Kennebunkport. Outside there is a game room, a small pool, and a picnic area with several gas grills and picnic tables. There is a Hannaford grocery store not too far away where you can buy some good stuff to grill. Each room has a full sized fridge, microwave, and kitchen sink. There is no separate sink in the bathroom so the kitchenette has a medicine cabinet, which is awkward, but we were fine with it. The room was enormous which made it very comfortable to eat and hang out in. There is free wi-fi, cable TV with 100+ channels, and an ipod dock/clock radio. We enjoyed hanging out in our room during the evenings. My only complaints are that there is very little light in the room and the walls are pretty thin. Otherwise, I found this place a great value if you want to visit Kennebunkport on the cheap. read more

The best night's sleep I have ever had in a motel/hotel! The Lodge at Kennebunk is conveniently located right off of Rt 95 about 20 minutes south of Portland and is privately owned motel (not a chain). The back section of rooms does back up to the service plaza, but don't be swayed away because the grounds and curb appeal are very welcoming and clean. I was hesitant at first when booking here, but the price was right and we took a chance, which paid off! Plus the location was close to drive back to Portland for the day. We stayed in a Superior King room #2 in the front section of the hotel, which was as large as a suite room in most hotels. The room appeared to have been recently painted, updated, and was spotlessly clean! The bathroom was full sized and also recently renovated. There were hundreds of TV channels on the large flatscreen TV, including many on-demand channels at no additional cost. Now on to the bed!! The king bed and pillows were so comfortable that I think I slept better here than I do at home. Yes, even the pillows were perfect for my preference, so much so that I looked at the brand so I could purchase at home. My wife also commented how well she slept. The hotel has a heated outdoor pool, bikes to use, and a continental breakfast. The offerings at breakfast were very simple (cereal, bagels, waffles) but they served New England brand coffee with was a plus. Included in the room price was the use of a beach parking pass for the Kennebunk beaches. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay, the service, and value, and will make this a destination stop when traveling in Maine in the future. read more

Great accommodations right off the interstate in Kennebunk. We stayed for a family reunion - the two bedroom suite was large enough for family of 6. Rooms are comfortable and super clean. Charles, the owner and all things to all people, has high standards and employees who meet them. There is a pool, playground, morning breakfast with bagels, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, coffee, cereal, juice. Lots of knowledgeable advice from Charles on where to go and what to do while visiting the area. We will definitely return. read more

We recently stayed at this motel for 2 nights and absolutely loved it! Our room was quite large, nicely decorated and exceptionally clean. The people who ran the motel were friendly and made us feel at home. They also offer a breakfast in the morning, with a large variety of items. We were visiting friends in the area and by chance found this place right off of the exit. We enjoyed this motel much more than the Hilton we had stayed at in Portland the night before, as it was just so comfortable and quaint. Do not stay here. It looks so much nicer on the internet. Went over the summer, had reservations for 3 or 4 nights. Got to my room and it there were many large ants crawling across the floor. I saw at least 8-10. When I went to the front desk to complain, they gave me a spray can to spray my room. After I sprayed my room, I decided that I did not want to sleep w/ the smell of bug spray. So, I complained again. They did give me a different room, right next to the one w/ the bugs. Also, it is right near a highway, very noisy. I didn't end up staying at all. Found another place to stay. The front desk knew that I left. And, they still charged my card for that night! Despite the problems. I understand, they are a business. But, I would not recommend this place and wished there would have been a Yelp review before I went. Do not stay there. read more

Reasonable, honest roadside place to sleep. I wouldn't think of it as a resort, but they sure do try. Hardwood floors, pool, BBQ AND a FREE breakfast...Good place to stay with a family if exploring the area. The owner is a nice older gentleman who spent an inordinate amount of time explaining the TV remote to me. Also explained the use of the room phone to me in detail. We stayed at The Lodge at Kennebunk on our first trip to Maine. I waited until about 10 days before to make reservations, so many things were booked. It was also a holiday weekend. I wanted to stay in the Kennebunk/port area. Due to my lack of familiarity with Maine, I didn't realize I had alot of other options. It was your basic motor lodge. The rooms were a bit run down. While many rooms had hardwood floors, our room was carpeted and there were several stains on the carpet. The air conditioning unit must have been at least 25 years old, but at least it worked. There definitely isn't anything luxurious about the place. However, we were perfectly comfortable. It is very quiet and we slept well. The best thing about the place was the very friendly and helpful staff. When we arrived, the front desk attendant explained the area to us, gave us recommendations and circled some highlights on a map. It was a great welcome to Maine! Additionally, they have a continental breakfast every morning, which is always nice. They have a heated pool and a nice picnic area with grills. I probably would not stay here again, because there are so many cute hotels and inn along the Maine coast. Next time I will not wait so long to get reservations and I might put a little more money into it. But it is a comfortable and decent place to stay if you are looking to save some money or need something in a pinch. read more

I highly recommend the Lodge at Kennebunk. It is fabulous and very reasonable. Registration online directly with the Lodge was very easy. It was SUPER clean, had very comfortable beds and pillows, was super quiet and had great wifi as well as hardwire internet. Rooms also had refrigerators, microwaves and excellent cable TV. This may just have been the best experience at a motel we have ever had. The staff is overly welcoming. Just the nicest people to talk to, you really felt like you were staying at your cousin's house not at a stranger's. The room was like home also. Hardwood floors, plenty of space and an amazing bed. The bathroom was like home as well. The only compliant I can even think of was the fact that there was no toilet paper holder So here's some extra information. I reserved my room online through their own website. I inadvertently booked the day before we arrived. They called to make sure we were still coming. I missed the call and didn't call back until the next day. The owner was so understanding. He made the change AND didn't charge me for my mistake! Where else would you get service like that? One of the best motels I have stayed at! I am a frequent business traveler and was quite impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds. The quality is definitely better than that of most hotels and motels in this price range. Internet is high-speed and reliable with hotspots in the room which I enjoyed very much after a week of staying in hotels with intermittent wifi. Above all, the staff, particularly Charles at the front desk were all exceedingly polite and hospitable. He puts in the extra effort to make you feel comfortable and at home. I booked fairly last minute for six people (two kids), for an August trip. This place was the best deal I could find. I wasn't expecting much given the price, but was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely not a luxury hotel or resort but is clean and welcoming. The proprietor is very warm and accommodating. Our suite was on the front block of rooms, and we could not hear the highway at all. The room was clean, although basic, and having a larger-than-average hotel fridge in the kitchenette was great. The pool was clean and at a good temperature, and the outdoor amenities were great! The breakfast was very basic and the coffee not very good, but it's hard to complain at all when considering the price and the convenience. We did hear about free beach parking passes for Kennebunkport beaches, but did not take advantage. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. read more
