Food and service was really good. The pancakes are delicious. Little packed at times.

We were passing through on our way to Cleveland. The restaurant is located in the center of the town square. The town square was incredibly quaint and the town is the birthplace to Thomas Edison. So the restaurant had quotes on the wall from Thomas Edison as well as photographs of him. The Sunday we popped in, it was packed but we quickly found a booth. Our server quickly took our order and promptly brought us hot coffee. We both ordered the meat and cheddar cheese omelette, I had bacon and my husband had sausage. We both thought they had just the right amount of filling and the side of crispy hash browns were also tasty. However, we felt it took quite awhile to get a meal. From the time we ordered it was more than a half hour before we received our meal. I realize it was a busy morning we just felt this was longer than expected for breakfast dishes. read more

My wife and I stopped here on a drive from VA to Michigan. Love the location near the town square. The food was VERY good, and the service was great. They even had pie for dessert, and Abbie gets bonus points for giving me a fork (instead of a spoon) for the pie. This will be a regular stopping place on future trips. read more

I visited The Invention with family and hoped to have a repeat performance of the good country cooking and fine service we had last time. I still enjoyed the ambiance of a country dinner, but they changed chefs. The food came out cold and we had to ask the waitress to check on our food. Perhaps they were having a bad day. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant and the expansive selection of meals. Invention has a diner type vibe with plenty of seating at the counter, as well as booths against the wall and tables in the middle of the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and checked in often to see if we needed anything. Meal prices are reasonable. Note that the hours listed on their website are incorrect - they close at 2 pm daily. read more

Excellent food and service! Tiny diner decorated with Thomas Edison memorabilia and photos and a lot of great flavor. Pancakes were out of this world. A vanilla taste to them made the overall pancakes top shelf. Also had the spicy potato mix and that too was excellent. A lot of flavor and good spice. Had banana peppers and jalopenas mixed in. Topped it off with some homemade sausage gravy. That too was perfect. Get there early and be prepared to wait! It's worth the wait for sure. read more

The staff was very attentive to our order. We ordered the trash potatoes that were amazing. One had added sausage gravy that was delicious! They had fresh chocolate cake on the counter looked amazing and we took a slice home. The cake was delicious and tasted like a Swiss roll. read more

It's me, the noob at Invention Restaurant or should I say invention breakfast spot You can tell the minute walking in this is the spot in town for breakfast. Every seat was taken and we didn't wait too long. Menu is affordable and I enjoyed the portions. Our waitress had numerous tables so I get our wait for breakfast as well. She was quick to get us refills and good on suggestions. The downside was the coffee and we had to wipe down a wet booth ourselves . Grab some breakfast or brunch ! read more

GREAT breakfast! Huge portions. Terrific prices. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They have sister restaurants in the area. Will be trying all of them. Cute, vintage place on the corner square in historic and history-rich Milan OH, birthplace of Electric Man T. Edison! Tons of cool images and patent drawings all over the walls. A good small town diner, friendly service, and we had omelettes and eggs which were properly prepared. The cubed and shredded potatoes are both good. The restaurant had various seating, booths, tables and counter. They also had one large oak table for six. Being in Thomas Edison's hometown, they had photographs of many of his inventions adorning the walls. read more

We found this restaurant on Yelp n had breakfast yesterday 1/3/21. Kind of a gem in Milan oh. It's a small clean family Restaurant n not too fancy. Friendly staff and delicious food. We had the veggie omelett, spicy trash hash n 2 eggs w bacon n toast. All the dishes were very tasty and the portions were good. All in all it was a good experience. Down home cooking that is hands-down delicious. We still have not stopped talking about those pancakes. Ohmygosh the pancakes are so delicious! And big. And super tasty. They make hearty portions here. I cannot believe how big the plates were. Come in hungry or be ready to share!! If you are feeling lunch instead I recommend the BLT which was wonderful and the onion rings were breaded and dipped perfectly. So good!! Definitely stop in here if you need a good place to eat. We really enjoyed our visit to The Invention, an unpretentious small town treasure with food that is well above average and an exceptionally welcoming wait staff and chef. It was 1 pm and they offered us our choice of the breakfast, lunch, or dinner menu and were most accommodating. We were driving to Maine and stopped in Milan first night and had breakfast here as the one at the Super 8 was a terrifying as our room! This place is so worth it. We split an order of biscuits and gravy and they were incredible. i haven't had a gravy that good in years! I would be a reqular because of those biscuits and gravy if I was a localo. I had the eggs and hash, excellent hash. Pre buttered toast, which is pure luxury as I always seem to get warm toast and frozen butter. read more

The name of this place intrigued me. I knew we had to check it out without even looking at the menu, although I must admit I anticipated wilder offerings. You'll enjoy this place by expecting a small-town diner with very simple fare. It's a sweet little spot with great service. Charger Burger - this is massive and meaty, but the wan slices of button mushrooms on it don't lend much flavor. You can get a massive heap of classic Ruffles, or swap them for rings for $1.50. The onion-rings are oldschool with a hearty crunch. Our mains were solid, if no more than "fine." But an appetizer elevated the whole meal: Fried Mushrooms - these are a good portion of portobellos in a savory seasoned breading, fried to perfection. Those were awesome. There's no way Nikola Tesla could have fried up a better appetizer for $6. read more

I am from Alabama and very picky about my comfort food and I was super happy with this find ! Such a great hidden gem in a small town square. The food is delicious and the staff is super sweet. We have ate here several times and everything has been hot and yummy each time !!! The omelettes are great , hamburger steak was super good.
