I went a number of times over a few vacations. Good sandwiches and paninis, loved the butternut squash bisque, and the salads were made fresh. This used to be our favorite place in the valley. We would literally go out of our way to eat here. The cubano sandwiches are delicious and from one vacation to the next, we would compare cubanos at other restaurants to the cubanos at Island Chef. That is, until today. I walked in, armed with my regular order - a large cubano with the dressing on the side for my daughter and me to share. I had planned to order several sandwiches, along with sides, drinks, and desserts, but didn't get past the order of my first sandwich when the owner told me she would not, under any circumstances, provide the dressing on the side. She insisted that she is in the process of opening franchises and because of that, she couldn't put the cubano sauce on the side. I wasn't asking for something totally outrageous and I wasn't asking to change the sandwich so drastically that it would hinder the integrity of the cubano. My daughter does not like mustard, so what would the harm have been to put it on the side? Sadly, she has lost very loyal customers over something very trivial. read more

Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had! My boyfriend and I split one upon our arrival to the area. It was devoured in minutes. We were visiting NH for the first time, and researched a few places to eat close to our B&B. This was one came up as one of the top rated and they totally deserve it. The Cuban was better than ones I've had in Miami! Definitely worth stopping here. Also, the macaroni salad was awesome too. It's really too bad that we live 5 hours away! :( read more

The Cuban Sandwich was life changing. After eating one I went back in and bought another. I can't explain it but it was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. I really can't explain it. Driving by and caught the "Cuban" on the sign so decided to give it a try. Glad I did! The sandwich was awesome and had some mustard pickles and ginger sofa to round it out. My wife had the vege wrap and loved it. Perfect place for when you don't want to stop and sit to eat but want decent fresh food. read more

Delicious Cuban, great turkey club and other creative sandwiches. Owner was very friendly and accommodating. Hidden bonus is the store which she runs with the sandwich shop that has lots of great sauces and cooking treats. read more

Food was ok, not great. I had a Cubano and chili that were just meh. They have a sign that states no children allowed... Really?! Not as if this is fine dining. Were it not for that preposterous policy I would give the food 3 stars. read more

Blink and you'll miss this hidden gem. Cute gift shop with neat items like kitchen gadgets, a nice wine and cheese selection and delicious, freshly made menu items with sandwiches made to order. Stopped in for lunch while we were up for vacation. The cubanos were delicious, bread just perfect and the owner was very friendly. We didn't buy anything in the store but being chefs ourselves, took a look around while waiting for our food and the selection looked very nice and I was intrigued that she does their own smoked pepperoni and am planning on trying to stop back before our vacation is over to get some to take home. We had soup and a sandwich on the tiki tables outside. It was a very good value. We try to eat/shop at smaller stores. Giving our hard earned money to big corporate stores is part of the problem. My husband and I stopped in today for lunch and what a wonderful surprise. This place looks so small from the outside but it's huge on the inside. Lots of deli salads, sandwiches, gyros, cooking supplies and so much more. My husband had the Cuban and I had the Coral Reef. They were fresh, filling and scrumptious,The best sandwiches we've had in the valley. We will definitely be making this our new favorite spot in The Mount Washington Valley! read more
