We chose Ivy Contractors to turn our garage into an ADU. They were really easy to work with. In our first meeting they showed us example 3D renderings and real-life photos of what they had made for other clients. We really liked the ideas that they showed us and also the fact they were digitally-oriented, as we had already started our "vision" in 3D in Sketch-up. We gave their architect our design ideas and he turned it into drawings with all the necessary adjustments and details that they worked with our city to approve and then they continued working with the city for each inspection. The contract was very simple but thorough, with payments scheduled for each phase completed. We also really liked having the project details in one big group text-a simple but effective approach, and when we posted questions or concerns they responded quickly. The packaged concept of kitchen cabinets and flooring options we could choose kept the process streamlined, but we were able to bring in our own adjustments such as a big sliding wall. We also liked working with their interior and exterior designers, picking out colors and tile and bathroom cabinets and fixtures etc. who rendered it all in 3D for us. Every project has its hiccups but everything was always quickly addressed, and also Ivy was proactive catching problems too. The result was something spectacular in our humble opinion. Your employee pulled his penis out and pissed on the side of my house. That was the first of 15 major infractions. Your workers had to redo the walls THREE times, because they were visibly badly warped. Inconveniencing me for an additional week of my life. Your workers took belongings of mine, multiple times and they had to be replaced. Your worker damaged my driveway. Your workers damage my floor and had to repair it. Your employee almost at my kitchen on fire. I wouldn't recommend that an enemy of mine use your company. my experience with Ivy builders was terrible. Before you hire "The Catio Guy" or "Catopia" give Ivy Builders a call. We wanted to enclose an already covered patio and turn it into a catio. We contacted several companies that either couldn't build it, didn't want to or were overly expensive. Ivy took on the challenge by taking our rudimentary drawing, asking questions, taking measurements and building us a gem. The team of Michael, Matt, and Nick took our ideas and gave us an estimate. They were also in daily communication with us whether in person or via text. They sent Fernando and Steven to do the work. These two guys do exceptional work. Fernando can take a concept of an idea and build just what you were looking for. He and Steven worked many days in the heat only stopping for a quick lunch. (And, maybe, a Home Depot run) They are professional, organized, friendly, open to changes and suggestions and extremely skilled. Fernando had enclosed a patio before but had not built perches or bridges. He even did some of the building at home and would show up with exactly what we had in mind. They tossed trash and cleaned up daily. We and the cats love the final product. read more

The remodel of the bathroom in a home built in 1935 was in great need. After searching for a qualified contractor, who could work on this project with me had been an arduous task ... no response, show up to be never seen again, etc. etc. So, when I was put in contact with Ivy Builders who met with me, provided a quote, and the most importantly was willing to work with me, providing my dream bathroom. Being an Interior Designer with specs drawn to scale, all materials selected, down to the last detail as to sinks, vanity and hardware left only the best skilled workers to do the job of making my dream bathroom become a reality, which Ivy Builders did provide. Zak the supervisor on the job was easy to work with for as the job progressed, we talked, resolving any issues which is common on a job of this magnitude and with my understanding that the best designs are not always practical in construction. Beautiful on paper, but that is where the road meets the rubber ... the homeowner has to be flexible, and their dreams can still become a reality. read more

In reply to the owner... The ceiling was not completely painted. It has not been touched since you were here and there is a 3x3 area over the bar that was not painted. That's on you. The floor tile could've been fixed had your people been capable of moving the kick plate (bottom board of the cabinets) out so it covered the exposed tile. Plus, this happened because your cabinet person can only make 'boxes' so what you installed did not fit properly. Had I known this upfront, I would have gone with another contractor. The holes in the house outside should've been fixed by your plumber or at least have been by noticed by Zack. But, he was always 'too busy' to actually check on the work that had been done. A good contractor walks the WHOLE job site (inside & outside) before calling it finished. Once I discovered the holes, I had to pay someone to fix it. There are way too many things wrong for you to try and stick this on the customer (me). Bottom line, your workers (probably not contractors) do mediocre work for a high price. read more
