Major Disappointment! Was driving through and called ahead to ask if they made their own salsa (this is how I judge Mexican Restaurants) Lady told me yes. Shoulda known by the GOYA sign outside...yes, Goya brand salsa is what they have. Obviously they spent all their talent on decorating the place and could care less about the quality of the food. Been here 3 times. First time was great. Second time my wife's plate had a onion hidden by her enchiladas and she is highly allergic to onions. Third try, waited over an hour for our barely warm food to arrive. I ordered fajita enchiladas for the price of $12. The 5 small pieces of fajita meat were burnt as was the chili con Carne sauce on the enchilada, I say enchilada because out of two only one had sauce. We have driven by this place for the past 15 years on the way to my Grandparents. Well we stopped today and it was GREAT!!! Not crazy about the margarita mix, the Sangrias were much better. I ordered the Shrimp tacos...the shrimp was amazing, mango salsa was kind of runny but I just scraped it off. My favorite part was the creamy dip/salsa, if you mix it with the red it was Boom-Bos-tic!!! read more

Excellent fresh tortilla chips and fresh warm salsa. Tortilla soup is outstanding. Menu describes it as cheezy but, actually it is not a heavy broth...super flavorful...savory delicious. Enchiladas were OK as were the fajitas and Chalupa. I highly recommend the tortilla soup, one of the best we have ever had. read more

I had a beef burrito and the white cheese dip and the food was very good! The place was packed but we got our food in no time! Our waiter was also very helpful explaining the menu. The atmosphere was also very cool!! Would highly recommend this place! read more

I have been to this location several times over the last 10 year. I have lived in Dallas all my life and I always told people that this restaurant had the best fajitas I'd ever had. I moved here last month and tonight I ordered beef fajitas to go. It's been a couple of years since I've been and the fajitas we're a disappointment. The service was friendly. I ordered by phone. My food was ready when I walked in the door. The food was still hot when I got it home. But the beef had so much gristle I couldn't eat a single piece. What a waste of money! This place was well worth the drive, a friend recommended and we where NOT disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I couldnt drink my tea fast enough ! It took about fifteen minutes to get our food which seemed like no time at all. The look and feel of this restaurant was very attractive as well. Drinks: 2 margaritas, and sangria (white). pretty good no complaint. complimentary chips with white sauce and salsa...? chips where ok but where not seasoned. white sause tased like cheap ranch sauce with cilantro. salsa tasted like watered down cocktail sauce with cilantro. *asked for queso* queso had been microwaved in its cup container more than once...i know this because of the burnt, brown, cheese left on the rim of the cup, and because the container was hotter than the actual cheese inside it; that its self was clumpy and starting to separate. Appetizer: Chicken quesadillas...did not receive. Entree: Lunch Fajitas (chicken) & Quail kabob's. Lunch Fajitas: 3 small, cut, chicken pieces, cut to about 1/8" x 3" on an enormous bed of onions served with a stainless steel container of the most disgusting garlic butter I've ever had, 89% garlic powder 6% butter and 5% salt. Dry Mexican rice, left out a few hours or day before type dry (left over Chinese rice warmed the day after came to mind). Quail Kabob: Caught fire while being prepared in the kitchen. I know this because the skewer it came on was burnt so badly that it was completely black and the end had curled up, like a burnt match, and had started to turn into a grey ash. the quail and onion on the skewer where not chard but literally burnt with that chalky-bitter taste that only comes from food catching fire...picture charcoal. charcoal is burnt wood to the point that it is almost grey ash. thats a good comparison. I guess he was the owner, came to us and asked how everything was just as we received our entrees; I said hold on while i try this quail...told him it was burnt disgusting. he took it and offered me the menu to "please" try something else. he left with the plate and my waitress returned to receive my entree order for a second time apologizing for the quail which was 95% the kitchens fault. i told her dont apologize for it its the kitchens fault. I then proceeded to order the chicken quesadilla, appetizer, I had ordered 20 minutes earlier and had never received. The waitress realized that same fact about 3 seconds after i ordered it. When it came i left it in front of me, undisturbed and politely asked for the check. my wife ate some rice, and a piece of that chicken, mentioned earlier, and i told her we could go somewhere else if she'd like...to which she said lets leave now. The ticket came to $75, I tipped $15 and quietly left. Marshall Texas if you think this food is good...please may i suggest to you, that this quality of food your rating as high is actually some of the worst quality ive really ever experienced in Texas. The food at this restaurant is good but the service at this location is absolutely horrible. Been here on several different occasions thinking maybe they were just having a bad day, but every single time it is the same. Very disappointing. I will definitely make a longer drive next time to go to a different location. read more

We love this place! The green sauce is delicious and the Jalisco is fantastic! The skinny margarita is the best, the rest are too sweet.

Solid Tex-Mex and friendly service make this an excellent place to stop for a meal. There's a great atmosphere and the staff was really friendly and took good care of us even though we came in near closing time. Brian was our waiter - top notch! Cheese enchiladas were properly cheesy and the fajitas were tasty. Green sauce for the tortilla chips is also a must try. read more

Our table was dirty, the chair seats were dirty, the bathrooms were dirty and your shoes stuck to the floor. As for the food, the quality was poor and the value even poorer. Do yourself a favor and choose another restaurant. :( read more

Food is good but staff has a bad attitude toward white folks. Service is very poor and slow. Constantly have to ask for tea refills. Apitizers came out half way through the meal. You are ok as long as you don't ask for something you ain't got yet. read more

This use to be my favorite restaurant, with great food and service. The last couple of years it has gone down hill. I miss the old establishment prior to the new remodel. Food is not as good and the service is horrible. I live in Waskom and will continue to travel to Kilgore to enjoy Jalapeno Tree when I want Mexican Food. Called and scheduled fajita carryout for 10 people for mothers day. Arranged to pick up the food at 11:30 and the gentleman talking to me confirmed the order by reading i back to me. Showed up at 11:20 on Mothers day to pick up the food and was told that they did not have an order for us. They said they could fix some up then if we wanted. I asked how long it would take and the girl said she didn't know as there was an order for 16 people ahead of us now. She didn't even offer to check and see how long it would take. At this point we had wasted an hour and the gas to attempt to pick up the food , still had no meal for 10 people and had to scramble to do something else. This WAS my wifes favorite restaurant. My sister and I visited this restaurant over the past weekend. My margarita was good, and the chips and salsa were okay. The restaurant was not very accommodating. I am a vegetarian and asked for a bean for meat substitution in a dish. The waitress said it could be done. However, the manager came over and told me I had to choose from the items as they were on the menu. As we finished eating, I talked to my son on the phone and he asked for two steak fajita tacos. I placed an order to go. The restaurant would not allow me to order the tacos a la carte. I was informed I had to order a whole plate. I said "beef" probably four times. When the to go order came, it was chicken. When the bill came, I was surprised to see two $2 up charges. They were for the fajita meat. My son's request for two simple tacos ended up costing $14. This restaurant does not live the "customer is always right" philosophy that, when reasonable, is necessary for the success of service-related businesses. I called at 9:08( manager even saw the time on my phone). I asked what time they closed..10:00pm is what I was told. so I asked if it was too late to call in a to-go order. I was told no, as long as it wasn't too complicated. ordered 2 easy dinners. was told that's fine, but( in employees words) that they close at 10 so I best be there or the door WOULD be locked. so I show up at 9:26. he comes over and says here is your order. I start checking it and see there is no fajita butter so I asked if I can get it. was told, no cause it doesn't come with it. I replied, well yes it does cause this is what we always order here and it does come with it. he rudely replies, fine I'll go check on it. I had cheese dip spilling all through out the bag since the lid wasn't closed, and the manager happens to walk by, asking was everything okay. at this point, I was tired of Brians( the Hispanic young guy that I had been dealing with) lack of customer service so yes I told the manager everything that he had said. I manage a restaurant and also work at another well known business in town, and I take pride in customer service at both places. I was not once rude to this young kid nor did I come in when they when they were closing. they were several tables in there at the time so it wasnt like I was keeping them from closing. I wish I had gotten the managers name, because he made me feel like he cared. I did give Brian a small tip but also told him in front of the manager that he needed to work on his customer service. that being said, food was good like always and I will always come back.. read more
