If you like barbecue, you have to check out this hidden gem in Selma. I recently visited Grapevine…read moreGrill and it is definitely a true hole in the wall spot. Only a few people can fit inside at a time, but that is part of the charm. The prices are affordable and the staff were incredibly sweet and welcoming. I tried the ribs first and they were juicy, slightly sweet, and packed with flavor. The edges had a nice crisp to them while the inside stayed tender and moist. I was extra hungry, so I also ordered the tri tip sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The sandwich was generously packed and the tri tip was delicious. The meat was tender, lean, and perfectly seasoned. It came with a barbecue sauce that had a nice spicy kick, which made it stand out from typical sauces. The mac and cheese did not look flashy, but it ended up being one of the best I have had from a local restaurant. It was not the typical super cheesy style. Instead, it was rich, creamy, and really satisfying. We also tried the cornbread, which was only $1 and a pretty big piece. This was the only item I was not as much of a fan of, as it was a bit dry and crumbly for my taste. That said, I know some Southern style cornbread is meant to be less sweet and more crumbly, so others might enjoy it. Overall, this is a small, cozy barbecue spot with flavorful food, generous portions, and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Selma area.

Even if you're not grabbing bbq, I like to grab some coffee or energy drink for the drive. This trip I forgot some gifts for family and shopped here for cutest bear figuerine and planes and mad libs for kids. They really have it all. And you can stretch your legs while you shop. Service is always friendly. There's always plenty of parking and bathroom stalls. Cute, convenient and clean. See you in a few months, Bravo Farms.

We first asked her if they have any seafood choices, to which she said "no". Then we asked for a menu, and literally the first thing on the menu was a Salmon salad. We ordered that and a few more dishes and a hot tea. She rolled her eyes at us every time we asked about the dressing on the side or a substitute for a side. And then we asked for a cup of hot tea, and she hands us a clear plastic cup. I told her it would melt and she looked at me with such attitude, as if I said something offensive or inappropriate. She kept huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes. We ended up canceling the whole order and leaving. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or if there's lack of training, but it was very disappointing.

After reading the Yelp reviews, we decided to give Harris Barbecue Express a try. A big thank you…read moreto the Yelpers who mentioned calling ahead! I called about 20 minutes before we arrived and was able to skip the ordering line and go straight to the cashier. Our food was ready in less than 5 minutes. Definitely a good tip if you're stopping here. We each got a half-pound of brisket with mac and cheese for $18.99. The brisket was okay, but honestly, I expected more from Harris. I actually prefer Armadillo Willy's. Remember to ask for BBQ sauce as they don't give it to you automatically. The mac and cheese was worse than the blue box kind It tasted more like survival food. But the other sides didn't look very good either, and I need some kind of carb with my meat, so I guess you pick your poison. The biggest issue for us was the heat. It was like sitting in an oven. Even with the shade and misters going, it was still so hot that we only managed about eight bites before calling it quits. For about $20 a person, it's not a bad deal for brisket, especially from a gas station. But would I stop here again? Probably not. I just want to be able to enjoy my lunch without being slow-cooked too.
