The bar has a nice selection of spirits and soft liquors. This restaurant is attached to the Duniya Hotel, but it's not just for guests. We went here twice for breakfast. The food itself is basic breakfast fare (eggs, hash browns, toast, bacon), and the lower rating is because of the extremely slow service, but the price for that breakfast (currently) is $2.99. It's the cheapest breakfast I've seen in years! If your counting change and hungry for breakfast in Bakersfield, give this place a shot. read more

Came here last night after a long train ride . On a Friday night it was pretty dead at 12am, I dont mind that. What I do mind is the dirty looks I got from other people AND one particular bartender , why? Maybe because I'm a person of color ? Who knows ? I walked in alone with smiles and no reason for anybody to dislike me. Sat down ordered a Rum Punch from the bartender, she didn't know how to make it so she searched it up which was fine with me! It was good , I tipped her as well , she was nice. (Taller lady with brown hair ) Second bartender had an attitude ( a shorter lady with dark hair ). Asked for directions to the bathroom and told her I'd have to leave my backpack and drink here at the bar! When I returned from the bathroom , my bags were knocked over and my straw was missing from my cup ! Now as a female traveling alone , I notice small things like that. When I asked the bartender about my straw she said my cup had knocked over so she filled it ... YEA RIGHT ! I would've seen if my drink fell! And she didn't even know what I was drinking to make it again! The other bartender had left! And also , my drink wasn't full , it was exactly where I left it at.. you mean to tell me she had the recipe to make half of the cup? Smh.. I told her I needed to know if my drink had been tampered with cause that's messed up! And my bags on the floor ? What's up with that ? Came here for my second time and had the worst time . Starting off the bartender who serve me and my girlfriend wasn't so nice and greeting. I order a beer on tap that had more than a half inch of foam and tasted a bit bitter . My girlfriend had order a Michelada which taste like shit water down tomato juice. We brought it up to the bartender who then suggested to give her another chance to make another on which she did and still was terrible . It was karaoke night so my girlfriend added her name to the list a list that hardly any people but yet took 35 mins for her to get a chance to sing a song . When she did I had gotten up from my seat no more then 5 mins to record came back to my seat and my beer , my girlfriend drink , and food was all gone . When I brought it up to the Bartender she said she thought we left cus we didn't cover our beer but yet she seen me get up and walk to the stage to record my girlfriend. I ask if she can repour our drinks and refused unless we paid . I ask for a manager number and was told if I wanted to speak with management I would had to catch them on their time when their when their there on random hours . Worst bar I been too terrible bartenders . Out dated atmosphere and environment . Seems like okay white gets the best treatment and would only recommend this place . Nice happy atmosphere , bartenders were fast and friendly. There's a pool table , jukebox and karaoke. Bloody Mary was tasty and the Grilled chicken Ceasar salad was amazing ! They have a really good bar menu with lots to choose from , we tried the mozzarella sticks too and they were delicious. Since my original review was removed for "violating terms of service" (whatever that means,) I'm back to leave another one :). Don't come here for karaoke unless you're friends with the host and his group of friends who show up every single week to dominate the stage and deny other paying customers the right to participate. They literally use this as their own selfish private party. You MIGHT get like one song in if you're lucky...but otherwise you have to know the host and be part of their clique, and then you get to sing as quickly and as often as you'd like. What a joke. Patrons who come here are mostly backwoods frump supporters with a couple screws loose, but that's typical for this area of Bakersfield. read more

I had a room booked at the hotel for work and at check in they gave me a breakfast voucher. Pretty simple little diner, I loved it. Nothing fancy. It was nice not to do the typical continental breakfast thing. Very sterile. One, I really like the old diner feel. Second, you get the personal touch from a wait staff. The food wasn't anything to write home about but it wasn't bad either. I will def be back. read more

If you fancy yourself a contender for the title of the next American Idol, then you probably need to head down to The Junction to polish up your crooning skills during karaoke hours (8:30 pm - 1:00 am Tuesday - Friday). Karaoke DJ Mac (or Greg, depending on the night) has a huge catalog of songs for you to choose from in a variety of genres. Grab a song binder, a slip of paper, and a pencil and start browsing for that perfect song that shows off your voice, fits your personality, and that you (hopefully) know the words to and join the rotation. Now, I have to be honest, I can dance but singing is NOT my forte. I have been here on several different occasions with a friend who excels in that area far more than I ever could; this guy can sing 'The Auctioneer' and enunciate every syllable perfectly. I prefer to enjoy the company, the beverages, and be a cheerleader for those more talented than I. There appears to be a group of regulars that know each other by name and cheer each other on enthusiastically. They are very encouraging when newcomers try their hand (voice?) at a song. The bartenders are friendly, personable, and mix a variety of tasty cocktails with funny names. On this particular visit, we arrived early and ordered some food - nachos, and a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich comes as two sliders with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and your choice of sides (fries, potato salad, or fresh fruit). The food was okay, nothing special. All 4 stars here are for the bar - drinks and karaoke. The bar is not fancy hipster material - pretty basic actually - but then that is not the crowd to which they cater. The place was clean but staff were not very attentive. I got a burger and it was pretty good minus the veggies. The avocado had a fishy smell and tasted off. I took all the veggies off. The piece that kinda irked me was after the wait and not great service I was informed that the card machine was down. Mind you this was after I was seated and already started eating. I've been here about 10 times for both breakfast and dinner. The food is alright but the service is horrible. I've been the only person there a few times and the waiters disappear into the kitchen to stand around and talk. This happens even after I get my food so it isn't like they're waiting on anything. That time spent in there means: - There's nobody there to greet you. - It takes a while to even get a menu. - Good luck getting your drink refilled. - Need anything? Nobody's there. - Ready for the check? Get ready to wait. - Ready to pay the check? Wait some more. And this is when I'm the only customer. It's much worse when I'm not. Oh, and I know they're just standing around talking because I can hear and see them just inside the kitchen door. As for their actual service when they are around.. Most are rude and short with you. You can see the irritation in their faces. I suffer from severe depression and a disabilty that causes pain and bad migraines every day, for years now. I lost my job and home because of it, forcing me to live in my car... And yet I'm still able to smile at someone, be polite, and show them the same courtesy and respect that I would want myself. Just because I have bad days doesn't mean everyone else I meet should. So why do they think that kind of behaviour is acceptable? By the way, even with free breakfasts I left good tips. The behaviour continued despite that. So no more tips for bad service. Unless you're there for the hotel's included free breakfast, just do yourself a favor and go to the Denny's just across the street. read more

I came here four times for breakfast as I had free breakfast vouchers from staying at the Red Lion Hotel. They offer a little breakfast buffet that won't have ballads written about it, but will certainly get your day going. The buffet comes with sausage, bacon, shoestring like potatoes, scrambled eggs, and small pancakes. They also offer water, orange juice, tea, and coffee. If you ask for some, they'll bring you toast. You help yourself to as much food as you want and the helpful waitresses will be around to refill drinks or assist in any other way. I generally put a lot of ketchup and/or hot sauce on my food since it was pretty bland. read more

This motel and the restaurant should be both closed down for a major remodel. I love The Junction. I can't speak for the food, as I've never had it. This place has been mine and my wife's go-to date night spot for a few months. There's a lovely crowd for karaoke on the weekends. Very country heavy, which is not what we're into, but the DJ and the people are just beyond wonderful. It's an older crowd and each time I've visited, I meet an interesting character or two. DJ Mac is an awesome guy. We've had two birthdays there and he made it feel special each time. There's not a massive beer selection, but prices are good, the Sierra Nevadas are cold and the long islands are no joke. read more

One star for service, 2 for food.... On a recent visit to Bakersfield to see friends, we stayed at the Sure Stay Best Western Hotel. The Junction Diner and Lounge provided the complimentary breakfast. We went the first morning of our stay, but not the second. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no one to greet your and no signs telling you to seat yourself or to wait, so we waited hoping someone would tell us something or at least acknowledge us. We stood there and watch the busboy and server walk past us several times. After about 5 minutes and stares from some of the customers (regulars I guess?), the guy busing tables said he'd clear the corner table for us. We sat and waited probably another 5 minutes while the waitress buzzed around us. All she had to do was hand us a menu and tell us choose from offers 1-5. But we waited and waited. Our food finally came, it was mediocre at best. I asked for cheese on my eggs, looked like they tossed it on as it left the kitchen, it didn't even have time to melt. The best part of both meals was the bacon, huge pieces and cooked to perfection. As usual, my son finished well before I did. The guy busing tables came by to take my son's plate, instead of just picking up the plate, he dropped the large black dishpan full of dirty dishes on the table right along side of my plate which I was still eating from. How disgusting can it get?? Is this how they treat everyone, or just the people that come in from the hotel??? We opted to get better food and be treated like a welcome guest at the Denny's across the street the next day. I do not recommend this free breakfast, go enjoy your meal at either iHop or Denny's.... both so close!! read more

I went on a Friday night for some drinks with friends. The place wasn't packed like a downtown spot would be, but there seemed to be a decent sized group of friendly regulars. This place had all of the things I love in a bar: a pleasant bartender, karaoke, and clean bathrooms! The drinks were also decent and priced appropriately. My beautiful girlfriend and I are sitting bar side with... 11 other people. We finished our drinks about 10mins ago and have been waiting for a bartender to ask if we needed any more drinks. After these 10mins or so, we decide to wave my hand in the air and see if maybe the two ladies behind the bar will noticed. It is karaoke night tonight (with 37 people, yes I just counted) and about 12 minutes later, says our Apple Watch timer, we our asked "what?!". Normally, I understand when people behind the bar are busy making all of the drinks for the entire establishment. However, one person was making the drinks and the other kept talking to her about her personal life. Now don't get me wrong, I'm ok with employees venting to one another or talking about exciting things in their life. I am a FIRM believer, when on the clock, your soul purpose is customer service! It is literally what you are being paid for... I find it unacceptable that a bartender ignores 6-8 people at the bar waiting to spend money in an establishment for a drink that will take about 7 seconds to make. Seriously, think of how many more drinks would have been made and sold if these bartenders were PROFESSIONAL. Majority of the bars profits are from Alcohol. If you are failing to provide the buying customers their order of drinks, you are failing to make this company some money.......
