We had the California burger and BBQ burger. One with tater tots and one with French fries. Both burgers were delicious and seasoned really well. The fries and tots were fried perfectly, not too crispy and not too soft. The pretzel bites were awesome, hot and soft. Our waiter was very fast and extremely friendly, and funny. He was covering a lot of area and our service was on point. Great food and service during a busy lunch hour.

Food is great. They actually have a person creating the recipes and make it there. You can taste the quality. The owners do a great job keeping it running. Waitress and waiters especially Juan and the waiter with muscles, and Brittany. In the bar the drinks are unique and appreciate the wine in addition to cocktails being offered. Mariah and Leo are wonderful. Give it a try

One of our favorite go-to places! Love it now being Social House, loved it previously as RJ's. We've been coming here for a very long time; great food, service, and drinks. Nelson, Courtney, and Ronald are great employees that we've build rapport with. Throwback music is nostalgic!

I absolutely love this place! It has a fun atmosphere with tvs playing sports and music and the wait staff is excellent! The food is amazing. I was so hungry that I didn't get a pre picture! I ordered the nachos with the chicken tinga and they are the best nachos I've ever had and go back often for them! I also ordered the Mediterranean salad and wow! Romaine lettuce, small bits of grilled pita for crunch. Fresh cucumbers, feta, roasted chickpeas and the dressing! So fresh and delicious! My daughter got the sliders but those were also gone before I could get a pic! I love going here for drinks, their happy hour is my fantasy turned reality. They have amazing cocktails and beers on tap but for me I love the $4 house Sauvignon blanc and other well priced items. This is a local favorite for me and my friends and will go back as often as we can!

Eight of us came into the social house after a challenging round of golf at River Lakes . It wasn't busy, we combined two tables so we figure out the scores . The friendly owner came over and greeted us. Everybody ordered their favorite beverage which came right out. Very relaxing and comfortable establishment plenty of TVs with lots of sports after our first round was gone. We all ordered Carne Asada street tacos. Three each. After a 5 to 7 minute wait they were all brought out. They were delicious another round of drinks we all had smiles on our faces. Social house kitchen and bar is just that, great bar, great kitchen, great atmosphere give them a try.

Came here to say for our anniversary and it just so happened to be Game 3 of the World Series. There were enough tvs to keep everyone happy and the drinks kept flowing. The hubs and I both wanted some red meat today, so I got the El Gaucho Rib Eye, and he got the SoHo Rib Eye...both were excellent! Both were cooked to perfection and were bursting with flavor. My espresso martini and his espresso old fashioned topped off both meals. We left happy and satisfied.

Martin made me the BEST margarita!! I ordered the Strait margarita. He absolutely crushed it. Thank you, you made my day better.

Decided to try this restaurant while I was in the area. I've heard a lot of people rave about how cool the place is and the food is good. We popped in before 5 pm on a Thursday and we were seated right away. The place is very loud and it was hard to have a conversation with my daughter. Our table was right by the kitchen doors, and there was music in the kitchen competing with the music in the dining room so it was not a good experience. Their menu has your average American cuisine, which is fine. There seemed to be a hype on apricot serrano pepper jam. We ordered the deviled eggs topped with bacon. They are served on a bed of potato chip crumbs. These were just okay. The egg yolk mixture, the deviled part, was bland. They were not pretty or flowing like ribbons on top of the egg. Although they were topped with bacon, they needed some salt and more flavor. The chips they were on tasted stale. I won't order these again, sadly. For our meals we ordered the Poulet Frites (chicken and fries) and the chicken Cesar salad wrap. The wrap was tasty and was wrapped in a Parmesan crust which was a nice surprise. The chicken and fries was also tasty. The fries were so delicious like they were frites confit, fries fried in the chicken fat!!! They were so yummy! The chicken came with a lemon garlic chimichurri, which was good. The chicken was tasty however it was over fried and dark. It was half a chicken but it looked like it shrunk in the fryer. The meat was okay, dry in a lot of places. I ordered a side of the apricot serrano pepper jam and it was tasty. The verdict? Probably won't go back. The place was too noisy and service was slow. Also, the chimichurri and fried chicken did not sit well in my tummy and I felt queasy all evening. I wish this wasn't the case. I would love to try other things but when I think of the place my stomach hurts. I hope your experience is better than mine. Enjoy!

This is a great place to hang out with friends, get some drinks, get some good food. It's usually crowded, and very loud, and service can be hit or miss depending on how many tables your server has to deal with. Service gas always been friendly, just not always available.

The service is good, the staff is nice and the vibe is good. The food is mid. I got the Carnitas Benedict, this was not bad but it wasn't good. It was mid, like I wouldn't order it again. But I wouldn't reject it if someone gave it to me.

BBQ Chicken pizza and a vodka cranberry (5$) on happy hour!!!

Ask the Community - Social House Kitchen and Bar

    Does this place take reservations?

I have called ahead when bringing a group.

    Dog friendly on the Patio?

    Yes

Does this business have any TV's (to watch sports) outside in the Social Distancing area?

Yes they have several tv's on the patio. The way the patio is set up you can see the inside tv's clearly from outside as well. We were watching football there just yesterday. They had all if the games on. Thinking about going back for Monday Night… Read more

Even the manager came up and introduced herself and we had a nice chat. Smaller space than most bars but that is fine as for now, this place does not seem to get very busy. Even though happy hour runs late! The prices for drinks were more than affordable but nothing fancy. Your moscow mule for example will come just in a regular glass (darn thieves!) and not the slick, proper, copper mug that will keep your drink colder for longer. Again, think Denny's. Also tried a simple vodka drink and a margarita. They were fine. We went on a Fri night I think at 9pm when surprisingly, karaoke started. THIS was interesting. I was excited as it was listed as 80's night but as the night went on, 'anything goes' was the rule. It was fun but the same people went up over and over again trying to get their big break! They were having fun with it - we just decided to leave when the foul, crappy hip hop came on. The mood had shifted. There are booths, high tops and you can eat from the regular Denny's menu. We did not eat but what was recommended to us by staff were the burgers and skillets for next time. To sum up - this is a very casual spot to bring some friends and have drinks on the cheap with friendly service. And a diner menu if you are hungry that serves late into the night.

Kinda of a hidden quaint little place. Could be a good hideout - Just saying. They have a great…read moreselection of whiskeys that vary in all price ranges. Nobody plans to spend an evening in Bakersfield. You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Haven't been in here for probably 15 years. It's changed- a bit. I love Tiki bars and I go to every…read moreTiki bar I can find. It's tiny- like a lot of tiki spots. Decor is nice. Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.
