This was our third visit to Social House and it just keeps getting better. Kouri and I have officially made this our Saturday-before-shopping brunch spot. Today I had the Carnitas Benedict and it was incredible -- rich, perfectly balanced, and packed with flavor. Kouri ordered the Avocado Toast and loved it. On past visits I've had the Burger Skillet and the Together at Last, and every single dish has been amazing. The portions are perfect and the flavor profiles seriously blow your mind. Stopped in on a Wednesday and it was full- but not crowded. The patrons were lively and happy, it was a mix of families with kids and groups of friends- everyone looked to be enjoying their night. I love walking into a place where you can tell everyone is having a great time. We were met with a friendly face from the host, and sat right away. Our server came quickly and got our drink orders. Looking over the menu they had a large selection of a variety of foods. There's everything from bar snacks, to Mexican, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and plated entrees. We went with the Cobb salad and the Philly dip. They were great! Flavorful and delicious. Definitely hit the spot. We got garlic fries that were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside- with a garlic twist that was just enough to not over power the meal. We had the California burger and BBQ burger. One with tater tots and one with French fries. Both burgers were delicious and seasoned really well. The fries and tots were fried perfectly, not too crispy and not too soft. The pretzel bites were awesome, hot and soft. Our waiter was very fast and extremely friendly, and funny. I absolutely love this place! It has a fun atmosphere with tvs playing sports and music and the wait staff is excellent! The food is amazing. I was so hungry that I didn't get a pre picture! I ordered the nachos with the chicken tinga and they are the best nachos I've ever had and go back often for them! I also ordered the Mediterranean salad and wow! Romaine lettuce, small bits of grilled pita for crunch. Fresh cucumbers, feta, roasted chickpeas and the dressing! So fresh and delicious! My daughter got the sliders but those were also gone before I could get a pic! I love going here for drinks, their happy hour is my fantasy turned reality. They have amazing cocktails and beers on tap but for me I love the $4 house Sauvignon blanc and other well priced items. Eight of us came into the social house after a challenging round of golf at River Lakes . It wasn't busy, we combined two tables so we figure out the scores . The friendly owner came over and greeted us. Everybody ordered their favorite beverage which came right out. Very relaxing and comfortable establishment plenty of TVs with lots of sports after our first round was gone. We all ordered Carne Asada street tacos. Three each. After a 5 to 7 minute wait they were all brought out. They were delicious another round of drinks we all had smiles on our faces. Came here to say for our anniversary and it just so happened to be Game 3 of the World Series. There were enough tvs to keep everyone happy and the drinks kept flowing. The hubs and I both wanted some red meat today, so I got the El Gaucho Rib Eye, and he got the SoHo Rib Eye...both were excellent! Both were cooked to perfection and were bursting with flavor. Decided to try this restaurant while I was in the area. I've heard a lot of people rave about how cool the place is and the food is good. We popped in before 5 pm on a Thursday and we were seated right away. The place is very loud and it was hard to have a conversation with my daughter. Our table was right by the kitchen doors, and there was music in the kitchen competing with the music in the dining room so it was not a good experience. Their menu has your average American cuisine, which is fine. There seemed to be a hype on apricot serrano pepper jam. We ordered the deviled eggs topped with bacon. They are served on a bed of potato chip crumbs. These were just okay. The egg yolk mixture, the deviled part, was bland. They were not pretty or flowing like ribbons on top of the egg. Although they were topped with bacon, they needed some salt and more flavor. The chips they were on tasted stale. I won't order these again, sadly. For our meals we ordered the Poulet Frites (chicken and fries) and the chicken Cesar salad wrap. The wrap was tasty and was wrapped in a Parmesan crust which was a nice surprise. The chicken and fries was also tasty. The fries were so delicious like they were frites confit, fries fried in the chicken fat!!! They were so yummy! The chicken came with a lemon garlic chimichurri, which was good. The chicken was tasty however it was over fried and dark. It was half a chicken but it looked like it shrunk in the fryer. The meat was okay, dry in a lot of places. I ordered a side of the apricot serrano pepper jam and it was tasty. The verdict? Probably won't go back. The place was too noisy and service was slow. Also, the chimichurri and fried chicken did not sit well in my tummy and I felt queasy all evening. I wish this wasn't the case. I would love to try other things but when I think of the place my stomach hurts. I hope your experience is better than mine. Enjoy! read more

At the time I'm writing this the restaurant has 3.5 star reviews. I would normally never even visit a place with that low of a score but we ended up here during an open house. My wife pulled in and we decided why not. I'm came in with very low expectations and I was pretty with the result. Maybe it's like when people say a movie is garbage then you watch it expecting garbage but it's surprisingly good. That is what may have happened here. But the 3.5 rating is bunk. That isn't what this place is. Solid 4.2-4.3 if you ask me. Food was amazing. Had the steak frites and a nachos with a few drinks. It was awesome. The place was a great experience. It was packed. Cool little spot to grab a bite to eat and some drinks with friends. The server was polite and attentive. My drink was never empty. The Food was good , drinks were good. There is quite a few tv's playing a variety of sports. My wife went with the chili burger and I opted for the El gaucho ribeye. The burger was tasty. Fries were nice and crispy. Steak was great with mashed potatoes and grilled peppers , topped with a chipotle butter. Our servers shift was up and she cashed us out and we get a new server. My one complaint is that the stools are freaking tall, even for me and I am 5'11 (so close to 6 feet but god said no) Towards the end we did get asked several times by several staff members if we were good, I am not sure if they were legit asking or wanted us to start clearing out. read more

My wife and I visited Social House on a Saturday Evening, right before Father's Day. She called ahead and made reservations for 6:30. It was a busy evening inside. The outdoor seating area outside was completely empty, but that's not out of the ordinary on a hot Bakersfield evening. The service was excellent, our waiter checked in on us atleast 10 times during our visit to make sure we were taken care of. The menu isn't too extensive, which is nice , especially if you have trouble making up your mind. I ordered the Bleu Burger, cooked to a perfect medium. The burger tasted great, it's unfortunately did get a bit soggy toward the end, which was a bummer, but it still tasted great. My wife order the Steak Frites, a house specialty. The meat was cooked perfectly, and was super tender. The sauce tasted great, but did become a little overwhelming. Maybe next time we will order it on the side. The pretzel bites were great, but nothing special. The cheese sauce had a great flavor, but it was a little runny. The establishment itself was nice, clean and had plenty of space. We liked our service every time we've gone but we placed to-go orders and got this. We called when we got home. We were told they couldn't do anything about it unless we drove half way across town to bring it back. The person on the phone couldn't care less(unlike our amazing servers). They should've written our names down and replaced our order, especially when we have pictures like this. Our other two burgers were under, but not like this when they were supposed to be well done, but we didn't even complain about that. All we wanted was this burger replaced sometime in the future. We had a very good experience. in town for our grandson's baseball tournament, which also happened to fall on my birthday. At least six players and their parents wanted to join us. At first my daughter called a couple of the large corporate chains, but they were rude and unaccommodating. My husband and I would rather do business with privately owned restaurants anyhow. There was not one complaint about the food! I had the salmon, my husband had the pastrami, my niece had a burger, and because my grandson was sitting with his buddies, I don't even know what he ordered! I did see him smash down a strawberry shortcake dessert and then come after my warm chocolate cake and ice cream dessert with his spoon. The service was as good as the food.
