I've been here twice now. Here's things we love about it: they greet you right away when you walk in, it's clean, aesthetically pleasing, and close to the Fox Theater and The Well Comedy Club. The first time we came here, my husband and I came for dinner and drinks, both were amazing and the service was perfect. The server checked on us enough but not too much to make us feel rushed. Had higher expectations, but it was a solid 3/5. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, which a very thin piece of chicken, the spicy bbq was overpowering. Wish they did a standard crispy chicken sandwich with a thicker cut of the thigh, rather than pounding out the breast to be mostly breading. The side garden salad was very fresh and crisp. The service and drinks were decent, could be improved but not bad. It was kind of pricey for a cocktail - $18 for a Tito's vodka lemon drop. (They up charged for top shelf). Went for an early Mothers Day lunch with my daughter, neice and her daughter. When we arrived half of the restaurant was empty but the servers/hosts were so confused as to where people would be sitting. One server(a man, didnt catch his name)actually got my party number, didnt enter it in the iPad, said im sorry everyone came in at once I dont know, he took a family outside and ignored everyone waiting to check in. Another server finally came over, apologized and sat everyone. Our server Samantha B. Was great but it seemed she was having to do more than her share as she was busy trying to keep things running smoothly. Go Samatha! The restaurant became busy as we were there but It was mostly families and the atmosphere was really family friendly. I was happy to see that there is a gluten friendly option for my daughter. The food is fantastic. If I were rating the food, I'd give them 6 stars! My wife and I had salads. She had Cobb and I had autumn with grilled chicken. Great combinations and amounts of ingredients, enough dressing but not too much (I LIKE my salad dressing too!) and fresh all day. My son had the mushroom burger - again, wonderful toppings, juicy burger, mouthwatering. He also ordered a unicorn shake (pictured) which is the most outrageous milkshake I've ever seen. He also ordered onion rings which I may have helped him with. Haha. Excellent. After waiting 20 minutes prior to being recognized by a host figure, had there been any other nice restaurant downtown open on a late Sunday afternoon, we would have tried it. We ran into a group of friends so their party of six grew to a party of nine. We did say that if it would expedite things, we could be seated as six and three. After waiting for at least a half hour they seated all 9 of us on the patio and as we were about to be seated, they announced their tip policy of 20% for any party over 8. The servers were friendly but ... (1) they brought out water for us. Within five minutes I'd refilled my small water glass twice and consumed the ice. There was no refill on ice offered even tho servers passed my table several times. (2) They asked about separate checks at first. There was an order of onion rings on our bill and a bill at the other table (yes we were at separate tables because they're bolted down outside). They brought out both orders but only ONE small plate of condiments. Really, it's the little things, like more ice in my little water glass. Lol. (3) Food wasn't served simultaneously. For instance, my wife's food came out at least five minutes after mine. (4) Early on a bird pooped on one of our friend's hands (he was at the other table) and our table top was... sticky. I realize we were a large party and there were several large parties inside. I guess it really upsets me that the gratuity was included so what I thought of the service didn't matter. I wouldn't be so harsh if it didn't seem like there were plenty of servers. And they were friendly, and sweet, just not attentive. read more

Street parking was easy to find during the week but I'm not sure if there is a specific parking lot for this restaurant. The service was great, the waitress was nice and friendly. She recommended some items on the menu. We tried the zucchini fries and they were just okay. I probably would not order them again definitely lacking in flavor. I felt the same about both sandwiches that were ordered. Definitely needed more Philly steak in the sandwich and the California chicken overall lacked in flavor. I didn't much care for the chopped up celery in both sandwiches either, kind of threw the flavor off to me as well. I really wanted to try the pasta here but it was lunch and you can only order the pasta at dinner. It is really cute inside and they have lovely decor. My husband, one of our children, and I went out last night to give this place a try. I have been wanting to try this place for at least 2 years, so we finally went! It is clean and inviting. The girl sat us right away, spoke with us about delicious options, and brought us the happy hour menu. We were waited on fairly quickly. We ordered a small starter plate, my husband tried their Philly cheesesteak, I tried the mushroom & Swiss burger, and our kiddo tried the hand-breaded chicken strips. We came in for lunch today as one of our team member was in town for a meeting. I ordered their BTLA sandwich with the zucchini fries, my colleagues each had a turkey club sandwich with a side salad and a mushroom burger with a side salad. It's a beautiful establishment/building, preserved very well. The industrial ceiling, exposed brick, I love me a good brick wall. I am a sucker for older repurposed buildings! Me and my friend went to The 18hundred while we were downtown exploring. Both of us never been so we didn't know what to expect. Very nice decoration and a cute little restaurant. We got seated immediately and our server was fantastic. Fast with the food and drinks, checking in on us but not too much, we had our own self serving water...everything went smoothly. I got the cheesesteak Philly and my friend got the breakfast bowl. Both so good and fresh out the kitchen. I also got a chai latte and cheesecake. The 18hundred is an easy choice for lunch in downtown. Service today was topnotch and the food did not disappoint. Deviated from my usual salad option and instead had the sammy/soup combo. I opted for the turkey club and tomato soup. Food came to our tables pretty quickly. Was pleasantly surprised that the sandwich was a full sandwich. It was perfectly toasted, packed with turkey, avo, and bacon. I only could get through half and saved the other half for dinner. The tomato soup was thick yet smooth, and quite balanced. It ate more like a tomato bisque than anything. Yum. I've never had a bad meal here to date. Might come back soon. read more

Our other Bakersfield favorite restaurant within walking distance of the historic Padre hotel is closed on Mondays, so we were glad to find this place that is open daily and serves breakfast until 2 (3 on weekends). The bar is open all day, so we stopped by at 4 for a couple of their specialty cocktails, a pear spritz, and a momma mule, which were refreshingly different and on happy hour from 3 to 6. Later on, I enjoyed macncheese, while my husband loved his blta (with avocado and Dijon mustard). Their menus is extensive, from sandwiches, salads, kids menu, to house specialties like Mahi Mahi and rib eye steak. The interior is light, bright, and comfortable with high windows, located in a historic building. We had great service from Joseph all evening as the place filled with the dinner crowd. A very reasonably priced meal, which is a nice change for a cocktail bar and grill. read more

I remember when this restaurant opened back when I had just finished high school. All i saw on my social media feed were their MILKSHAKES. I always told myself i'd go and try it out but i just havent gone UNTIL NOW!! 6 years later lolol. The food was very satisfactory, in a very calm, fun and inviting environment. We all had full meals and shared one of their amazing shakes and our bill was only $54! If you haven't been there lately, go!! They just lowered their prices and it was beyond a great deal. Now for the big negative: the server dropped ketchup all over me and my purse. I know accidents happened but there was no apology and I had to go into the restroom and try to get it off me and my purse which it didn't come off from my studded purse and it ruined it! Went in for brunch last weekend, the pricing seems fine, but it seems this restaurant just has many issues that need to be fixed. First, upon being seated, our drink orders were not taken. Then we ordered drinks, but coffee is mot served from a carafe, instead from a stainless steel pitcher. This yields cold coffee so quickly. Then the coffee tastes worse than a gas/service station. You better ask for creamer and sugar because you will need it to fix up this bad tasting brew. Then our party orders. The food is subpar and the turkey sausage seems microwaved. So dry! The sunny side eggs are overcooked on the bottom and undercooked on the top. Hard to cut, needed a knife. Then there's no salt and pepper on the tables! Come on, don't serve anyone eggs without that?! Then the restrooms, both down and upstairs are really dirty, and the doors are dirty, and the doorways around the eye level where people touch, are dirty. The sides of the tables are dirty. I literally watched people push crumbs to the floor! Makes you wonder what's going on in the back of the house, where you can't see. Yuck! read more

Summary, Food: excellent SERVICE, terrible Went in with a party of four and while multiple employees would look at us as we stood there waiting it took quite some time for someone to even acknowledge us let alone to begin the process of getting a seated, even though there were multiple tables that were open and multiple employees that were working the floor. When the time came to order drinks, four of us all ordered drinks, but my drink never showed up, I had to flag down out a waiter to get my drink to come We ordered our food and our food came out, and it was very delicious and plated beautifully. It took quite some time for it to come to the table, but that's to be expected when you have quality food. After we were all done eating and sitting at the table, the plates remained on the table for a very, very, very long time in fact- one of the employees approached my wife who had an extra glass of wine that was sitting on the table and she asked if she was done with that cup, but when she took the cup, she didn't attempt to take the five stacked plates on one side and the two stacked plates on the other side. Then it came time for dessert. OK my wife ordered one of their fudge brownies all and I ordered a milkshake. Keep in mind there's four of us at the table. When the waiter places our order for the desserts, she doesn't clear the table of the plates they're still there, and when the dessert arrives, we have to ask the person to clear the plates because they just set the dessert down on the table with *3 plates* leaving one of us to not share the dessert, OK and then guess what my milkshake never showed up. Eventually, the waitress comes back with our check no milkshake, but the milkshake was on the bill. I was polite and when she said oh, you didn't get your milkshake. I'll go get that. I said don't even worry about it. I was ready to leave and not come back. It could've been an off day, but I suspect that this is the baseline of their service now it's not a Michelin star restaurant or anything sure but basic super basic service principles were not employed by this establishment and I will not be going back. read more

We finally got around to the 18Hundred restaurant in downtown Bakersfield. It was a Saturday afternoon and we got in just before the lunch rush. As soon as we arrived, the hostess seated us and the server promptly brought our drinks. We split the BLTA Sandwich with fries. The sandwich was tasty and filling. The ingredients were fresh and in ample supply. They have a full bar, which I did not take advantage of, but it's good to know it's there. The place was filling up, but the noise level was not bad. There is outside seating. That might be fun at cooler times of the year or in the evenings. The building is very old, a bank, I think, so it has a really cool vibe. The decor is still wonderful and the staff super friendly and kind. Recap on the food: The burger was good, a little heavy but tasty. Not gonna lie I didn't feel well after but not sure if it was the burger. ‍ The fried zucchini were underwhelming, I wish they had a little more flavor and fried a little longer to have more a of a crisp. We went on St. Patrick's Day and both got a couple of St. Patrick's drinks as well as a couple of items from the social hour menu, including a chicken sandwich on sourdough mushroom, Swiss burger, and zucchini fries and a New York cheesecake for dessert by the end of the meal my stomach started having issues I went down to the restroom and had to use it several times and vomited out green. Keep in mind I only had half a drink, and my husband finished the rest of my drink and two other drinks the next day my husband was vomiting out green and had extreme stomach pain with diarrhea.
