    Protein Bowl with Saffron Chicken
    Emily T.

This restaurant is located in the Brokaw plaza across the street from Brokaw Commons which is a great location with a bunch of surrounding restaurants. The interior is super spacious with plenty of seating and they have a self-ordering kiosk which I always prefer (nothing against the staff, they are very friendly and welcoming!) I ordered the protein bowl with saffron chicken and added tzatziki sauce as well - soooo good! The chicken is tender and flavorful and the tzatziki sauce is on par with the ones I've tried in Greece. In my opinion, tzatziki sauce can either make or break a meal and they've really got it down. I'd like to mention though that since the protein bowl already came with hummus and garlic yogurt, adding on the tzatziki sauce made my bowl too saucy (that was my bad) so next time I'll switch out the garlic yogurt. Luckily, the staff were so very kind to give me a side of greens to mix in so I could balance it out - 10/10 customer service. I also took a bite of my fiancé's Super Duper Wrap with grilled sirloin steak and that was amazing as well. Overall, it was a great dining experience and we will be back again.

Came here on my day off and was always interested in it as I always pass by this shop. Plate plate with saffron rice and hummus. My protein was the chicken. It's a bit pricey for lunch but it's filling. I got a whole tub of hummus.

Food is delicious! I haven't been here in a few years and the menu was different. Not it a bad way, a lot more on the menu than what I remember. I ordered the super duper wrap and was not expecting it to be as big as it was! It was good, the chicken shawarma was great, vegetables and sauce complimented it well with the fries. I put the hammer down on it and stuffed. My wife ordered the kebab fries and a grains bowl she ended up taking to go. No complaints! Everything was a hit! The only downfall was the soda machine. All the sodas seemed over pressure or low in gas. Most of the syrups were low so we settled on orange fanta. Tables and seats were clean, the sauce bar was neat and everything complimented the meal. Employees were also friendly and answered any questions with patience.

My husband and I stopped by for a quick lunch. I ordered a bowl with grilled kofta and various veggies and my husband got a bowl with fries, chicken, and veggies. Everything was really good. I also loved the yogurt sauce. I felt like it tied everything together perfectly. The inside is modern, clean, and has a comfortable vibe. It's in a great location with plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The service was also great. The cashier was super friendly, and our food came out quickly. Overall, a great spot for a tasty, casual meal. We'll definitely be back to try a few more things next time.

Great food, spotty service. Came here for an impromptu dinner with my sister who has been RAVING about The Kebab Shop. Shout out to her for always eagerly introducing me to good eats and shout out to her gf who did the initial introduction to her. [Hopefully that makes sense. LOL.] Nestled in between Rubios and Bolitful Fresh Kitchen in the shopping complex neighboring Brokaw Commons, The Kebab Shop offers Mediterranean + Middle Eastern cuisine. Parking can be a little tough but you're bound to get a hit after circling the lot a few times. Our party of two arrived on weekday @ about 7pm. There were 2 other parties already dining and seating is available inside and out. We approach the register and look over the menu. No greet, no nod, no acknowledgment whatsoever coming from the staff who is off to the far left preparing food. We stood around for quite some time even after we had already decided on what to get- still no word from staff. We were left just standing around until a gentleman finally makes his way over to the register area. The order for the night: *SUPER DUPER WRAP w/ MIXED CARVED MEATS- made with hummus, fries, picked onions, cilantro jalapeno sauce *CRAVE FRIES- fries topped with feta cheese, garlic yogurt, + pickled onions. *Fountain Drink x2 Food: Portions here are MASSIVE. The food here can easily be shared and our party of two still had leftovers. Granted, the meal was very carb-y. The super duper wrap was great- the carved meats were tender, flavorful, and each bite was so very balanced. The crave fries were delicious- very filling, flavors married with each other magically, and the fries were a good amount of crisp/fluff. I couldn't stop eating this. 4 solid stars for the food but the lack of recognition to customers could not be overlooked. During our visit, I noticed a patron almost leaving due to the long wait and another lady who had been standing around for a good amount of time finally flagged a worker asking if she was supposed to order @ the register area. Being short staffed is understandable [if that was the case] but a simple "i'll be right with you" or some kind of acknowledgement would really go a long way. 3 stars for the overall experience.

Been a while since I've come here. Service is always a hit or miss but it is a self kiosk. Food is good and the sauces are great. Combine all three sauces and it just elevates the meat. I did forget the sumac so next time. Plenty of seating as well.

    Carved chicken, falafel, brown rice
    Alfred L.

Stopped by The Kebab Shop and ordered a plate with carved chicken, falafel, and brown rice. The food was solid--the brown rice was cooked well, the falafel had a nice crunchy exterior with a fluffy inside, and the chicken was flavorful and not too dry, which can be hard to get right. Overall, a good meal with well-prepared ingredients. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely a spot I'd return to when craving Mediterranean food.

The kebab shop is a place I have always been wanting to try! I'm soo happy I finally got to try this place out. I got the salad with grilled chicken, greens, onions with spicy hummus sauce and the yogurt sauce I believe. I would say the salad is very filling however the chicken was a bit dry. The sauces were really good and I wish I had more of it. When you order for pick up I would say they are pretty fast with getting the order ready. I however picked up my order but I would love to have sat there and ate my food. I would definitely come back here again because not only did I love their food I loved the restaurant set up.

Stopped by to pick up a to go order today, after a long day of waiting for my car to be serviced. I been here one other time before and it was very good that time. The restaurant is clean, attentive staff that helped me make my choices. I order two bowls to go and even scored an order they had just filled that had been canceled. The food held up in the drive home, I had the truffle brown rice, grilled chicken, with all the toppings. It was very good. I will definitely come back.

Both meats were juicy, flavorful, and tender but if I had to pick one it would hands down by the beef steak. One thing to note about the dining experience is that it was uncomfortably hot inside the restaurant. I went on a summer day when it was in the high 80s and the restaurant didn't have AC or a fan... it was a lot warmer inside the restaurant than it was outside. I felt so relieved when I stepped outside.

It did have a lot of sugar, but it was pretty similar flavor-wise to Indian chai (sans milk), so it paired very well with our order. We ordered the chicken suqaar and the beef wrap. We opted for the chapati (sabaayad in Somali) with the chicken suqaar, but would love to try their rice or their version of injera during our next visit! The menu at first glance looks kinda confusing since they have Lunch in big letters on one side with a ton of their dishes and Dinner on the other side with the remainder of the dishes, making it seem like a few items are available during this time... but the Lunch portion just states that it comes with a side of rice, pasta, chapati, or injera (which is the same as Dinner...) so kind of an interesting stylistic choice there, but this is to say that everything on the menu is available the whole time they're open. The meals were so flavorful- the chicken suqaar had a ton of onions, carrots, chicken, green-bean like veggie, and spices, and was served with a green sauce that had kind of a habanero or jalapeno taste to it. The beef wrap was huge and I only ate half of one for dinner- it was flavored so well and the beef was cooked perfectly. This came with a side of the green sauce and a white sauce. I'd love to return and try their injera with chicken, kay kay chicken, beef suqaar or beef steak, and their sambusas! I saw some on another diner's plate and it looked sizable and filling. Jubba is located right next to a VTA light rail and an apartment complex so there's decent foot traffic, but overall, a wonderful place to try and eat!

I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

I took no pictures because I was eating in the car and just dove in, but it was well-wrapped for the journey. I was kicking myself after leaving for not remembering to ask for no onion, only to discover that, thankfully, they didn't put raw onion on it! I was delighted, and this may be the best chicken shawarma I've ever had. The meat was flavorful and plentiful for a small order, and to my utter joy there were strips of pickle tucked in with the meat! It was such a delicious mouthful that I was really wishing I'd gotten the full size after all! It's better that I didn't, and now I can't wait to go back again and try more things, like the shawarma fries! Parking can be difficult so be prepared to hunt and maybe walk a bit. The staff was all woman and while they weren't chatty, they were all diligently doing prep, which is necessary. I honestly can't wait for the chance to come back soon!

The beef and lamb arabi style wrap portion is pretty big. I got seasoned fries for the side and we were given a lot. I'm a big fan of the double fried fries or the so-called psoriasis fries. There was a good balance of crispy and mushy fries. Tastes really good with the toum and the tahini sauce. The wrap is a bit dry but the flavors are still good. I think I do prefer the chicken over the beef/lamb mainly for the tahini sauce. The service is kind of just ok. I didn't know you were supposed to grab the sides from the fridge and they didn't tell me until I had to go back and ask. The whole interaction just felt a bit awkward but I'm sure they were also just tired. The place could be a bit tidier and cleaner. There's also no public restroom for those wondering but they have hand sanitizer stations set up which is nice. Parking is not too difficult but I haven't been when it's peak hours.
