Shrimp cocktail was plump and sauce paired well; tangy, horseradish heat. Caesar was fresh; a skosh too many croutons. Grateful for full bar; enjoyed cocktails on patio. Well, this is a place I've eagerly been waiting to open for some time. The prospect of a place that could have a variety of healthy options for breakfast in the morning, combined with an amazing selection of freshly made bagels and unique combos for lunch and dinner was something not to be missed. In short - I wasn't disappointed! Tried two dishes today. The first was the Michigan U-Turn, on a Rosemary infused bagel. It was phenomenal - the Brie was an amazing substitute for the cream cheese, and not something I'd have put on a bagel! Other ingredients were fresh too. The thing was so big, I could barely get my mouth around it. I was so Impressed with lunch that I brought my wife and daughter back for dinner. This time I want with the "Salmon Spread" bowl, which had just enough spice with the Sriracha sauce to give it a real zing. Again, everything was very fresh. My daughter and had the "Sperry's Steak and Spin" flatbread, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and my wife had the "Island Loop" bagel sandwich, which she also thought was amazing. Finally, we finished with two dessert items, the Smore's and the fruit pizza flatbread. Again, my wife and daughter loved making Smore's at the table, and I was once again impressed with the freshness of the fruit. All in all, I came away being very pleased with the quality of the food. They have been open exactly 2 days, so I fully expect them to continue to have to work some kinks out, but if this is the quality to be expected of the CityFlats boutique hotel/eatery concept, I will definitely be a return customer! read more

I'm very excited to see a nice breakfast spot so popular in Port Huron. The restaurant is in a great spot along Black River and offers outdoor seating to enjoy the boats going by. Inside is quite small but gets the job done. I've visited the kitchen about three times now and have had decent experiences each time. One thing I have noticed is that they frequently run out of ingredients, which is understandable as they are a new restaurant, but nevertheless disappointing. On one trip with a few friends, we were told that they had run out of acai and therefore could not order the acai bowl. After we had received our food, a new table behind us was somehow able to order the acai that they had previously run out of. Similarly, on my most recent trip to The Kitchen, I had ordered three bagels (1 sliced and toasted, 2 unsliced and untoasted) and one bagel sandwich to go. Once I had opened the bag, I saw that all three of the bagels had been sliced and toasted and the bagel sandwich was missing an ingredient. The woman taking my order had read it back to me accurately, yet the food came out with errors. I believe there must be troubles in communication between the front and back of house staff. Even still, the food I've had from The Kitchen is alright. The salmon breakfast bowl was 4/10 and the Edison square flatbread a 5/10. The bagels are great and perfectly chewy, my favorite being the onion rosemary. Despite the hiccups, I am excited to see places like this popping up downtown and giving the community reasons to spend more time there. read more

Ordered the food though Door Dash, it took the estimated delivery time to finish preparing the small order of food. The bagel wasnt toasted, creating a sloppy eating experience with under seasoned food. The soup was a white bean soup however the waxy clear membrane of the bean found it's way to the soup which had very little taste. This place seems like a healthy alternative in Port Huron but forgot that the food needs to taste good. If the owner sees this I reccomend blending the Cream Cheese with the vegetables to create a tasty spread and use flattened chicken breast instead of cubed. Then when making soup make sure to use aromatic food correctly. As shoe string Carrots dont add flavor they just get lost. read more

Amazing sweet treats! All the treats are made in house. Its been open for a little over 3 months. I got the cranberry Orange scone which was amazing and a coffee. My parents got the gingerbread cake, the flavor and frosting was second to none. Huge Slice of cake for only 3.50. Coffee only $2 with refills. Jalapeno bacon cheddar bagel- yes please! What a great place to come sit by the water and enjoy some delicious treats and a coffee. I can't believe we haven't been here before, living so close. We will definitely be back soon, please come check this place out. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! Love this place. We will have to come back and try some of those sandwiches. read more

Scratch made scones and scratch made bagels with a fresh and full menu of choices. I'm from out of town and wandered in here for a light lunch and coffee and was just blown away by the food and service. The plus was that they have gluten free bagels! My friend and I stopped by the second day and they were much busier. There was a slight mix-up in the kitchen, but the staff came over right away to check on us and make it right. If you have the chance, definitely stop by. The window-side tables also have a great view of the water. read more

I don't usually do reviews but this was a nice find in downtown. I met my wife there for lunch and it was quick, the food was good, and the service was pleasant. We both had quinoa bowls, there were two men next to us that had a flatbread which I am going to try next time. Absolutely delicious! This place is exactly what Port Huron needs! It's fresh and clean with a perfect menu. I had the Lighthouse Lox and my husband made his own bagel sandwich. Presentation and taste was on par with a fancy restaurant but a fraction of the price! The strawberry cucumber infused lemonade was crisp and refreshing. We sat outside and admired the canal. The staff was upbeat and happy, you could tell they liked it there as much as I did! I will be returning often as there are many dishes I'm looking forward to having. read more

Very happy Port Huron is getting more local restaurants with healthy options rather than more restaurant chains. The Kitchen has friendly staff, a good view, and is decorated beautifully. Brought my kids in for the S'mores platter, not only did we have options to customize our platter but the staff were super friendly. We decided to sit outside in the "lounge area" off the Fair Weather Grill. Absolutely beautiful! My kids saw the food coming off the grill and had to have it, they got hamburgers and hot dogs! It was nothing like your standard hamburger and hotdog, they were amazing, huge and packed with flavor! Loved everything about our visit! read more

I came into this establishment with an expectation held higher than the rest in downtown Port Huron with all of the good things I had heard. I came into the restaurant and saw people in the front chatting and on their phones. I walked past the back kitchen door to look out and see the canals view and saw one of the workers sitting on a stool in the kitchen and watching something on what looked like a computer. My coffee cup had lipstick stains on it( it was a white glass). It should be cleaned either way. This place should be ashamed. I will not be back. This is my new favorite spot for breakfast and lunch .Finally a place that doesn't taste like every other Gordon food service restaurant! Homemade bagels, scones, flatbreads , cakes ! The smoked salmon is excellent quality and the homemade cream cheeses are better than any Ive ever had anywhere. Its a touch of Chicago and as good as The Grand . Their coffee is delicious as well as their Chai. I cant brag enough. I live in Saint Clair and I take all my friends here. My one bestie from Grosse Pointe absolutely loved it too. Just go. And the girls who work there are wonderful and as sweet as the treats they sell. read more
