Tucked away off the main road (115 Easton-Wilkes Barre Turnpike) through Saylorsburg sits The Lakeside. I've driven by their road so many times over the years and never knew they were even there! The outside doesn't scream greatness, but given time I think the new ownership will address that. You can't beat the gorgeous views of Saylors lake and after meeting the staff you can really get behind the folks trying to breathe new life into the place so be patient. They are in the midst of renovating the inside and I look forward to coming back to see the results. Good menu mix of sandwiches and dinner plates. We got seats right against the windows and had a blast on a rain soaked Saturday. We came back for more on a Sunday with friends and had another great experience. The parking lot is big with a deck outside, band area inside, long bar, dining area inside with views along the lake. You can come with kids (check if a bands playing though it can get loud in there) or for any occasion. I would say it's a great place for a date too. Our servers were so kind and quick. The pretzel app was sharable and good, Caprese chicken sandwich (little dry in the middle and sloppy to handle) was decent, French dip was great and my friend loved the meatloaf. They had a local Free Will IPA on tap that was fresh and tasty so I was a happy patron. Menu prices were fair and they have a long list of cocktails. Give them a try. Good drinks, great food. Good service & the view of Saylors Lake is pretty cool. We were here recently and water to come back to try again. After today's meal, I'd definitely return. The bacon with scallops were not wrapped, but chopped and (I believe) pan fried bits of bacon. My opinion, made it even better than wrapped which tends to leave chewy bacon that's hard to bite if you're not gobbling your entire scallop in one bite. My friend and I shared that appetizer & each ordered the Cobb salad which came with shrimp and feta. I was very, very happy with this salad! Again, would return for the food for sure. read more

My wife and I went here probably 6 years ago before we had kids. Great food and music. We went there recently with our kids around 6pm because we know the food is good. If your on a date or have no kids with you great spot to go. If you have kids I'd say go somewhere else. Note to anyone with a toddler or baby. They have no changing table in the bathroom to change your baby, so outside in the car is the spot. Also don't expect any warm welcomes for bringing your kids in there. They were not happy that we had our kids with us. They also did not have a high chair for our 2 year old, so he sat on our lap. On another note they don't have a kids menu, so chicken fingers and French fries is your only choice. Also no kids juice, so water is your only choice. Basically if you have kids at all your best bet is to steer clear and go somewhere else. Maybe hill top down the street is your best bet or the diner. read more

We were there on a Saturday evening, and they had nice band music going on in their indoor dining area as well. The server was friendly and professional. The Bavarian Pretzels and French Onion soup we had as appetizers were very good. My girl said the Shepherd's Pie was average, but good. My cheesesteak was pretty good as well. We went to the Lakeside tonight - first time in 6-7 years. And it will be another lifetime before we go back. Totally surprised when we pulled up and the parking lot was full! A good sign. Bad sign was literally a sign on the building advertising for cooks and waitresses. So we expected slow service. But 20 minutes to get a menu after being told to find a table. Another 20 minutes to get a glass of water and a glass of beer and for our order to be taken. Another 40 minutes to get our food. A hamburger and a cheesesteak. One with fries and one with onion rings. I can forgive the slow service because you are way understaffed and are for some reason slammed with customers. The two overwhelmed wait staff we're doing their best. Can't forgive the lukewarm, over cooked cheeseburger and cheesesteak. And absolutely burned and way beyond edible fries and onion rings, that weren't even warm - just brittle and clearly cooked (and cooked again....) in very old oil. All of the customers were complaining. Had hopes for new owners but there are too many other good spots to dine in this area to give this one another try. read more

The Lakeside out did our expectations. The food was very good and the service was very friendly. It was December, and we love the holiday atmosphere, but we will definitely be back in the Spring and Summer to enjoy the outside dining and lake views. The Lakeside looks to be a great place to enjoy the warm summer evenings with dinner in the restaurant or appetizers on the patio overlooking the lake. On a recent evening I visited for dinner inside to check out the food. My meal of crab cakes and special wasabi mashed potatoes was a winner. The 2 cakes were large, moist and meaty. The potatoes I borrowed from the scallop dish on the menu and they were just slightly seasoned which added a nice flavor but didn't overpower or spice up the potatoes like you might have thought. And I'd need to mention the green beans that were nicely sautéed with garlic, cooked well but not soft and an enjoyable side. Other dishes ordered by my companions included the scallops with the same wasabi mashed potatoes. They were large scallops with a rather spicy base sauce and glaze that gave them a real pep. You'd never know they were sautéed in garlic as well. If the heat is a problem then ask to skip the sauce. Another ordered the special New York strip steak which turned out great by all accounts. This is a nice option for a casual dinner and I'll be back to try more. read more

Went to listen to TimeWhys band last night. The band was awesome good. I wish I could say the same for the food. I had the caprese chicken sandwich, the chicken breast was cut in half and so over cooked, tasted terrible. My husband had the veal parm. Who makes that with elbow noodles and tomato sauce?? Veal was soggy and not much cheese. Had to request bread for Italian dinner. Also had bacon wrapped scallops, way over done. Wasn't wrapped, it was sprinkled with bacon. For the price, only received 5. Taste was horrible. Then had a piece of carrot cake Giant super market has better cake. Was bland and not fresh. Will not return. Completely overpriced. read more

Loved the atmosphere at this spot where the locals meet! I think we caught them on a night they were a bit short-staffed since our order wasn't taken for 10-15min after we arrived and our food wasn't hot when it came to us. However, the onion soup was delicious! The rest of our food was pretty good. Would definitely recommend this place for the Friday Night Jams!...so fun! read more

The ambiance can either be your thing or not. Each space in this restaurant has it's own vibe. The bar area is lively, and features live music on weekends. The side room is more reserved, but great for larger groups, conversation, and families. The patio is often patronized by those sun loving, road riding free spirits on two wheels. I have never had a bad meal here. And for the most part, I've not had poor service. Slightly slow when they are swamped, but that is to be expected. Only downside to my experiences here, is the smoking that goes on in the doorway to the restaurant. Sorry, but some kind of distance needs to be enforced. Walking through a cloud of smoke is just not a great introduction to a restaurant. read more

Made with cave aged cheddar and apple wood smoked bacon your mouth will be wanting to take the rest of your body back to The Lakeview ASAP. There is a new owner, so my husband and I went back. The building itself has definitely improved. Outside dining deck looks beautiful (although we ate inside) The service was friendly, and as prompt as they were able to be. The food (burger and wings) was good. Hate to leave negative reviews but chicken cheesesteak was a joke! The roll was dry almost on the verge of stale. The meat to roll ratio was sad. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer. Never saw such a thing. Very strange. Tasted like onion rings. Probably won't be going back there. Service though was very good. read more

It is under new ownership so they scaled back the menu which would be fine if the food was good. I'll be surprised if this place stays open more than a few months. So, I read all the reviews & went to check the menu & the mustiness. Very slight musty aroma, but to be expected with it's age & location. Having been in the industry for over 30 years, I know the questions. Now I love wings, so decided to give them a try. Trish, my server, knew her stuff & answered my questions thoroughly. I ended up with the garlic parmesan wings & the Alehouse fries with cheddar ale sauce. I thought I died & went to heaven! Trish definitely did NOT smell like cigarettes & has only been here 2 months, but I'll come back anytime for the great food, impeccable service & the view. The mountain people of Saylorsburg finally have a place to grab a good meal without having to trek up or down 33. We have family that lives in the lovely village of Saylorsburg so we stopped in while visiting them recently. I'll tell you what, I was floored when we walked in and saw what they had done to the place; it looked great. They offer a full bar, draft beer, wine, as well as a full kitchen. We were seated right away even though it was the dinnertime rush. The band scheduled for that night was still setting up when we arrived. We started with some drinks. Nothing special, just a couple of beers and glasses of wine for the ladies. This was the first issue we really faced: it took over 20 minutes to get everyone their drinks (like I said, beers and wine). Despite our large party, that seemed a bit excessive, but alas, they are still a young restaurant struggling to get their feet underneath them. As the night dragged on, the band finally got going, and they were amazing. Never have I seen customers get up and start dancing so quickly (although they were potentially regulars). The band was an 8 piece cover band with trombones, saxophones, guitars, drums, and a few other instruments. The singer was phenomenal too. Overall, a high quality performance. We decided to order dinner, so must of us ordered burgers. As with the drinks, it took an excessive amount of time to get our food (close to an hour). My burger was way overcooked, almost completely dry inside. I don't want to turn anyone off to trying the Lakeside because it really is a great restaurant for the Poconos, but it's just not quite running on all cylinders yet. I heard some similar complaints from our table. One of my fellow tablemates ordered a salad, but the dressing they gave her was spoiled rotten. It smelled like used bacon grease and spoiled milk; it looked atrocious. Obviously she did not hesitate to send that back. While I think it is fantastic that a restaurant finally opened for the small village of Saylorsburg, it definitely needs some work until it is up to par with a typical restaurant. I think it's going to survive on its bar and live music business because people aren't coming from afar for the food. read more

Was here for a Halloween party. Very crowded late evening. Noisy and hard to hear the waitress. Beer selection is limited, mostly the standards of Budweiser, Coors and of course the Pennsylvania standard of Yuengling (so glad that is a standard). Service was ok.
