Food and service are always excellent, but they've increased their prices so much it has become unaffordable. Breakfast at 8am was $26.95 for 2 pancakes, 1 piece of scrapple, 2 eggs and home fries and one cup of coffee. When I asked why the prices have risen so dramatically I was told it's because they weren't making any money. While taking a Saturday road trip and growing hungry, we decided to stop at the first restaurant that we came across, which was the Chestnuthill diner. My wife and I decided to split a classic BLT, which came with fries and coleslaw. I will admit the fries were some of the best (right up there with McDonald's), the coleslaw without mayo (we like it that way), and the sandwich was delicious. Virginia M was our waitress, and what a delightful person she was, and she directed our attention towards dessert to finish our lunch. Needless to say, we left a clean plate. Large locale located in the middle of busy route 209 with many options to choose from in their menu. Went for brunch and got a Caesar salad wrap that was fantastic. My dad got the eggs Benedict with home fries but the eggs weren't poached and the home fries looked a little sad. The service was great and it was very cheap. read more

I've been to the Chestnuthill Diner twice in the past 3-4 months and I can't say either experience was bad. Parking can be a bit of a challenge because this place gets packed! The inside always seems to have plenty of seating though. The first trip I came I sat right at the bar and had a nice older woman for a waitress. She was friendly and kept me topped off on coffee. The hot sausage, eggs and home fries with some toast was a nice portion and delicious. On the second visit I had sat in one of the dining areas and had a younger woman taking care of me, my son and a neighbor. She was quick with her service, helpful with the menu and took care of us. I had sausage links, scrambled eggs and home fries with toast. Everything again was fresh, delicious and a nice portion. I noticed large groups coming in both times and they always seem to have enough seating for them. Both visit were on a Sunday morning and per person I was spending under $10. The building is a bit outdated, but I think it was pretty clean. It's hard to find a good breakfast spot in the area, so I'm happy these guys are there! read more

Ordered a catering breakfast order from here a few weeks back. From start to finish it was a EASY. They couldn't have been better about communication, pricing, availability, and the menu. Everything was cooked the morning of (prior to 6am) so I know they came in early to do so. 100% accuracy on everything. It was great. Stopped here for lunch after funeral. Lisa waitress was so attentive, caring, and went above and beyond to not only serve our food which was awesome. She explained the prices and what we could expect. She listened to everyrhing i said and it was so nice to talk with her about how to reheat my extra food at home to give it the best flavor by using an air fryer. Food is your typical diner selections. I had the Texas burger and found it to be fairly dry, they definitely skimped on the sauce this thing was suppose to have. Fries were pretty good though. My wife had the veggie quesadilla, she enjoyed it but holy crap was it ever greasy. There was a pool of gease on her plate at the end, which was a little confusing since it was all veggies. Bathrooms are not wheelchair friendly. My wife had to leave hers in the hallway and make the journey to to her stall on foot, which isn't a good time for her. When I called to complain, the woman said oh you ordered no bacon(not true) and you have to ask to have it toasted. If you want to own an American diner you need to learn how to make American food. Where to get started.. So walking in, you know the place has been there for years. Decades. The wait staff in the morning, as much as I'd hate to say it, simply don't get along with customers unless it's their longtime usuals. If you're in your 20's, even 30's, don't bother waiting for even a smile. Now as far as the food goes, it's not bad. Honestly, it's not bad at all. Stay away from anything with a gravy or thickened sauce however. The "cooks" use a lot of flour as a thickener and instead of concentrating their flavors by reducing the liquid, it's thickened obnoxiously with flour which after even 5 minutes of cooling down on your plate, it instantly begins to cake. Come here for terrible food, miserable staff and even worse service! We inconvenienced the hostess who was sitting at the bar eating a meal as we walked through the door. She seemed incredibly irritated about having to seat us. When we got to the table it took a pretty long while to be approached by anyone for drinks or our order. Right after our order was taken another waitress approached us requesting our drink order, we politely said that it was already taken and she rolled her eyes and walked away. While waiting for our food (which took an insane amount of time for two eggs, scrapple and a Buffalo chicken wrap) there were already three complaints around us about their orders. When we finally got out food, the eggs were supposed to be over easy, they were more hard, the scrapple was super greasy and the chicken and lettuce were incredibly slimy and left me feeling sick. I normally don't like leaving bad reviews because I get that people have bad days and working in the service industry is not an easy but there was not a single friendly face or disposition in this location and the food was certainly not worth the food or the price. read more

The salad was old had brown spots and the grape tomatoes withering I would not eat it! The fries and chicken fingers were over cooked. Husband ordered a burger it was not very good.
