If you're looking for a new or higher end hotel this is probably not the hotel for you. But...If you're looking for a hotel that's close to shopping and great restaurants it's perfect! Cleanliness-I think they could do a lot better. The floors, counters and shower were not cleaned well. The shower curtain had a lot of soap scum and stains. Honestly, I didn't even want to use it. The linens were clean but there are a lot of "extra" items that just seemed like it would make it more difficult to clean. Throw pillows, lamps, etc. Location- Location is great! It's in the heart of Bryan and walking distance to a ton of local shops and restaurants. They also have a beautiful patio and bar which we really enjoyed. Staff- The staff was amazing. Everyone was super helpful and friendly. We always enjoy staying here because of the location. I think if they updated the rooms it would be perfect!!

    Hair found on the floor

Sooo many things. First, the smell. Yes, it's an older building but fumigate cause it smells musky. The photos of the rooms must have been taken with a fisheye lense cause web pics make the rooms feel larger than the reality. No bathroom counter space, bar of soap from previous guest was left in the shower (yuck), hair all over the bathroom floor, windows, mirrors & shower door were in desperate need of cleaning. Pictures available. Ohhh and on Valentine's 2025 the hotel restaurant only offered a 4 course meal. No other offerings.

To start off with, I was only offered to eat at the only restaurant on site if I ordered off their Valentine's Day menu that was for couples. There was no single option offered even though I was given the menu. I would have had to spend $150 and had more food than I wanted. The management made excuses that all of their tables were reserved. Then why was I given a menu while sitting at the bar? Lastly, the next morning, I go to fill the tub with water and there is visible dirt in the tub from the water. I left the tub filled so housekeeping could see what I refused to bathe in. Then I remembered the coffee I drank. I'm sure it had dirt in it too. The trains other people complained about did not bother me one bit. I knew this hotel was by the train tracks and I love trains. The horns don't last that long anyway. Lastly, the staff was very nice. The rooms were beautiful. All that being said, I love the location but I will never stay here again.

Chris was so very good at communicating with me. The room was very clean. Plenty of hot water. Every detail was thought of; shower gel, shampoo, ear plugs, small bottle of water and chocolates. Very good air condition for an older house. Very quiet, we didn't hear any other guest. Bed was very comfortable. I can't wait to come back and stay again. Highly recommend!

Stephanie took over the main coordination for our wedding and she did a stellar job. She always made sure information was passed quickly and helped make our day incredibly special. From pinning boutonnières to wrangling rouge flower girls, she was amazing. We served caesar salad, lasagna, green beans, and bread. I have to be honest, we didn't do a taste sampling (although it was offered to us), and I wasn't expecting anything great. However, when we finally got the eat the meal on our wedding day, it was phenomenal. I truly believe it was the best lasagna I have ever eaten (don't tell my mom that!). It was easily my favorite part of the meal. My very close second favorite part of the meal was the salad. MMM! Fresh, and just an overall tasty dish. The Astin also supplied our cakes. In our package we didn't get to choose anything that had to do with the cakes (which may be a negative for some people, but we were actually pretty glad it was done for us). The cakes were delicious. Soft cake and creamy icing on the brides cake and grooms cake. Chris, the florist, did a great job with all of the arrangements, too. I had a bouquet of blue hydrangeas for a 4 o'clock wedding. I got my bouquet at 3 o'clock and even in the harsh sun, they never wilted. Around 5 pm, I stuck them in some water and they were still beautiful when we left for our honeymoon the next day. Overall, if we had to do it again, we would choose the Astin every time.

Recently I went to my cousin's quinceanera at the Brazos Center. I was surprised to see that the place is as I remember it; in tact and nice. A little out of date, but it was not run down. The restaurant is nestled downtown College Station where you can walk up and down the Main with cute lights when it's night and some entertainment down the road. The restaurant is on the corner and the inside was very clean and you can tell it has some history. A person, who I believe was the owner, greeted us and sat us down right away. The vibe is fairly quaint and the ambiance is dark but chill. The menu is minimal but I love that there aren't 100s of options. We were greeted by a very nice server who offered fresh baked bread. While I live for fresh baked bread, this tasted old and stale. It didn't taste fresh but almost as though it had been sitting out for some as it was dry and super chewy. What we ordered: - the lobster w/lobster and added shrimp: pasta was perfectly cooked But the sauce was missing one crucial ingredient....salt!! My son, who is 12, also noted it was very bland and lacked any seasoning! He put salt and pepper and said it was much better but needed a lot of help! The lobster and shrimp were a bit over cooked as well, it was slightly rubbery. - the lobster (substitute lobster for chicken): the same review as the dish above, but the chicken was a bit dry and over cooked. - mozzarella garlic bread: this was the highlight of the meal! Very stringy like they used fresh mozzarella and garlicky just like we like it with marinara sauce! - calamari: one of my son's favorites but he noted they seemed frozen and not fresh! He couldn't eat it because the calamari was very tough and chewy! It was a major let down! While I appreciate the concept, and maybe it was an off day when we went, we'd think twice about going there again! The service was impeccable but the food is why I have it a 3. (Please note we ate here in April 2025)

This historic venue deserves better historic interior decor. I recognize the current owners didn't make the renovations to the space, but as a single screen venue...it should feel special, distinct and one-of-a-kind experience from front door to lobby to theatre. It doesn't. 2.) The online website and programming of what's on screen is not extra special. First run films are better left to the cineplexes. This space would suit a well-curated art house, classic cinema, and rarely seen films for a large swath of audiences in the Brazos Valley. I live right around the corner and the 50th Anniversary screening of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon was the first film since their launch (in current iteration)...it was fun to experience on a large screen. 3.) What is unclear from the online presence is that food can be served to your seat. I looked extensively in the sight but this was not evident to me until we arrived. The menu is very pedestrian, burgers, greasy fries and more fried things, and standard salads. Again, nothing special or unique. 4.). Why are tickets for future screenings unavailable since they are already advertised? Also, there was a lot of noise in the lobby during the film and the house lights did not come up after the film concluded. I WANT to support a local one-screen experience Downtown, but how I miss the reopening days of this place when it was diversely curated and a human being sat in the ticket booth to welcome you into the Experience of The Queen. Her uniqueness is not being capitalized upon, regrettably.
