I do not recommend LASIK Vision Institute. I had LASIK done at the location in Tempe with Dr Kao and had a terrible experience: 1. LASIK Vision does NOT use a laser to cut the flap in your eye for LASIK. They use a blade. This is an outdated and less accurate method and caused complications on my left eye so the surgery had to be aborted. I recommend you only go to a center that performs all laser LASIK, such as LASIKPlus in North Scottsdale. 2. LASIK Vision when performing PRK uses a scraper to scrape off your eye's top layer. I recommend you go to a center that uses a liquid to dissolve it. Overall, the staff (including Dr Kao) was very friendly. I'm just still so mad that they didn't tell me they would use a blade to cut into my eye. When you get LASIK, all they talk about is laser this and laser that, and you think it's so high tech, but then they use an outdated method to cut into your eye which in my opinion is by far the scariest part of the procedure. LASIK Vision did end up giving me a full refund (after I fought for it) but I cannot in good will recommend them to anyone until they get their act together and spend the money on new equipment and use newer, safer, procedures. read more

I got lasik almost a year ago and my vision still sucks. I came in after a few months and they said I have 20/20 but my night vision is TERRIBLE, If the lighting is dim at all I find myself squinting, desperate to see things. I have constant dry eyes, and I guess if I put eye drops in (given that it's full light and everything is week lit) I can see more clearly, but that's just momentarily. After spending thousands on this, I'm going back to an eye doctor (and pay another few hundred) to get glasses. DO NOT GET LASIK. it's not worth the money. You will see much better with glasses. I wish I could get my money back. Worst money I've ever spent and I'm still paying this off. I WANT MU MONEY BACK. read more

I am about 3 weeks post-op and I couldn't be HAPPIER! First let me start off with the staff, they are so friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. I consulted with two other places before coming here and both suggested I get Lasik. However, after coming to LVI they told me I could get PRK. Recovery is longer but well worth it since I wanted to continue playing sports. My vision has been improving week by week!! I also got contoura vision and colors are more vivid! I had an astigmatism that impaired my ability to focus and read computer screens for long periods of time. I don't squint at all anymore! The most exciting thing I look forward to looking at everyday are the leaves on trees! If you have had the procedure done, you know what I mean. After I scheduled a free virtual consultation for LASIK, I met with a random representative from corporate (she was several minutes late to the call). The rep wasn't very friendly, and spent less than 5 minutes going through the pricing options + procedure. I was also thrown off by the fact that she barely made eye contact with me and kept staring off screen to read from a script. I didn't end up scheduling an eye exam at this center as their only open location in Phoenix is over an hour away from my house. Overall, 1/5 stars. I'd recommend pursuing LASIK at a private practice instead. read more

I had monovision lasik here in January 2019. It's now mid March and I still can not see anything. The doctor said he "over corrected" the vision in my left eye, (oopsy-daisy) which is my dominate eye. I feel like I am constantly Looking through the wrong side of binoculars. I've been back Numerous times for check ups, and the doctor said he needed to "wait for my eyes to heal" before correcting his mistake. He put a contact in my left eye to fix the over correction so that I didn't feel like I was in a blurry tunnel. I went back in approximately ten days later and he removed the left eye contact and put a contact in my right eye to balance out the distortion created from the overcorrection. It has now been over a month since that visit and so far I have not received ONE phone call from this office to see how I am doing, or more importantly to make a follow up appointment, or to even apologize for the overcorrection made during the surgery, and the frustration/stress and hassle due to this mistake. I currently have a "temporary" contact in my right eye for a month now. I am curious how long I'll have to wait to hear from them but I am a scared to wait that long so I will be calling them first thing Monday morning. Firstly, I DO NOT RECOMMEND HAVING LASIK IF YOU ARE NEARSIGHTED nor I DO NOT RECOMMEND HAVING MONOVISION IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. And, most importantly at this point in my lasik vision institute experience, I DO NOT recommend Lasik Vision Institute. It is NOT WORTH IT. THESE ARE YOUR EYES people. An interesting fact: As of 3/2019, The doctor who performed my surgery is not even listed on their website as one of their lasik doctors that work for any of the PHX-Tempe offices. The business practice at this place is extremely poor. I suggested anyone looking for lasik surgery to look elsewhere. Red Flag #1: Their staff, Diana, was very personable but quoted me $3800 for the procedure. It wasn't until I showed her the Groupon for for $1395 that she changes the price. Red Flag #2: They will suggest that you need some sort of treatment to get lasik. I got dry eyes and was suggested to get the punctual plugs which they charged me $500 for both eyes. When I called to ask for the procedure code so I can submit to my insurance, Diana said they do have it but can only give that on surgery day. Any honest practice will provide the patient the procedure code so he/she can submit for reimbursement. It should not be a case where they can only give it to me if I elected to get lasik surgery there. Red Flag #3: They will upsell and add additional procedures to increase the Groupon price. Additional $1000 for lifetime warranty, etc. Red Flag #4: The optometrist who put the punctual plugs in my eyes didn't even wear gloves while doing the procedure. I understand that it is a simple process but sanitization should not be risk when touching a patient's eyes. Red Flag #5: It should not be that difficult to verify if the surgeon is board certified. Nonetheless, he may be board certified as a DO but I would advise for those who is seeking lasik to see a surgeon who is board certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology. Red Flag #6: They make it hard for you to cancel your surgery appointment. I've attempted to cancel my appointment but the front desk receptionist said she doesn't have the ability to and only the manager can. She said she will have the manager call me. A few days later, Amanda called me and wanted to talk about me because I had some questions about the surgeon's certification. When I told her that I want to cancel the appointment she said she can't because she is assistant to the surgeon and doesn't work on the front desk and will have the manager call me. It should not be this difficult to cancel the appointment when I gave the notice well in advance. read more

Over promised and under delivered! They talk a good game but do not care about results. Extremely disappointed with my results and their lack of response. I have sent three emails to their corporate address on the advice of both doctors that I saw. No response. I had surgery in December and again in April as they assured me it was unusual that I could not see any better. Here I am awaiting my bifocals! I have had over 7 months of pain, and they do not care! Was forced to sign up for the "forever plan" yet will not use it and they are refusing to refund any of it! I am out $3,800 and back where I started. read more

From the moment I stepped in and was greeted with a genuine smile, I knew that the time spent at this location was going to be pleasant. The staff was beyond professional, seeming genuinely interested in who I am as a person along with the state of my eye health. When you go for your consult and exam your may not qualify for LASIK due to your eye lens shape, and you will need to get PRK for correction. PRK is very different as far as recovery than LASIK, I have been in pain and irritation for weeks since the procedure and my vision is still not good. I was told this was "part of the process". I was disturbed that they failed to mentioned any this prior to surgery. It has affected my job and quality of life. I would not recommend this provider. read more

It has been 1 year since my procedure (PRK) was done. I am very disapointed and upset on the outcome. I had lasik about 11 years ago and it was wonderful. I decided to go to an optometrist about 2 years ago due to deteriorating eyesight and age. I was fitted with progressives, which were good. One year after that I decided to consult Lasik Vision Institute to see if I can get lasik once again. The consultation went good. They were all very nice. The bad news was that I could not get the lasik again due to the fact I had it once before, they had another solution they suggested PRK. They convinced me to go this way, with the knowledge that I would see like before, the only exception would be that I would need reading glasses for reading up close. I was good with that. The procedure was more painful than the LASIK, it took way longer to recuperate then they had said it would. I took a few days off but that was not enough. I was in pain and discomfort for at least 2 weeks. My eyes were gritty and blury for at least 3 months. I did go to everyone of my after care appointments and everytime i told them about my eyes they would say "It could take about 3 months" after 3 months they would say "yes it can take 6 months"" after my six month's they said "it can take up to 9 month's after that I received a call from surgeon saying " it can take up to a year" lnoe it's been more than a year and still reliant on my glasses in my office. If I would have know this I would gave never got the procedure. I am still paying for something that I didn't get. I am very upset. I will not do it again to fix this. That was not a good experience. I am forced to go get glasses again. As per Mr Potter they will not give any refunds for surgery, even if they led me to believe I would only need glasses for reading, even if they lied to me, he doesn't know he wasn't there. This is what he told me in a phone conversation. Goes to show companies are only in it for the money.. I would not ever go here or would I ever recommend them to anyone. read more

I should give zero stars! I had the surgery and had extreme pain during the procedure. My vision has not improved! The office staff was very nice, however. They said that I would probably need to have it done a second time. After the horrible pain from the first procedure, I decided not to have it done again. Folks, these are your eyes!
