Check in / Date of review 1/27/23 We have all been there, a family picnic or a pot luck cook out and someone brings a common side dish that would be expected; appropriate for the meal. However, that well-meaning individual modifies the dish with their "creative" spin, using some bizarre seasoning or ingredient. It tastes weird and you are stuck with a big dallop of it on your paper plate, because you wanted to be polite. Now you are looking for that pesky Labrador Retriever, that will eat anything. Or hope that you can get the plate folded up and stuffed in the garbage can before that person notices your dislike of their creative effort. You got the picture. The coleslaw served at the Lazy Fisherman is that very side dish, I just described. Strangest tasting damn slaw, I have ever had. I was unable to figure out what in the heck the secret ingredient was that they used to bring out that amazingly weird taste. No. I didn't like it. The rest of the meal.... Catfish was average, beans bland, onion rings and fried okra mediocre. Mediocre also describes the service. If you are out looking for a place to dine and happen to drive by The Lazy Fisherman....do it!...drive by. If you decide to eat there, you'll need a to-go box for your Labrador

My husband and I discovered the Lazy Fisherman by looking up fried catfish places near me. We have only been in Bixby about a year so we don't know all the spots yet. I rarely drive by where the location is and I haven't had it suggested to me. It is a seat yourself vibe with simple fishing decor and an old cozy home feel. They had a decent amount of people and tables turning over while we were there. Service was okay. Our drinks stayed empty a couple of times (tea 1/2 & 1/2) and we placed the order for drinks and an apps that all delivered in a decent time. It felt like a longer wait than I wanted to order our meal. I asked if the fries were good and she hesitated and said yeah. Wasn't super convincing but when you get 3 sides per meal and we ordered 2 meals you have a lot of sides you have to pick. I ordered the fried catfish, fried okra, green beans and mash potatoes with gravy. My husband ordered the hamburger steak with cheese and jalapeño with fries, coleslaw and fry bread. We had hush puppies for the app. I took pictures of the menu but forgot to of the food Okra was good and crispy like I prefer, catfish pieces were a smaller size but still plenty of food & it was good but it didn't cure my craving, green beans with onions lacked flavor and that's my fav veggie and finally the mashed potatoes and gravy were good. Hushpuppies were not cooked in my preferred style of batter and I didn't care for all the fried batter around them. She didn't bring the food out and they forgot the fries but quickly came out with a basket. Everything was hot and fresh! The husband enjoyed his hamburger steak that was served with 2 sides of toast was pretty good, coleslaw was a little watery and neither of us wanted to try the fry bread, fries were okay. Cute environment but it's not in our list of places to frequent even with it being less than 5 min from where we live.

We've eaten here for years and always loved it. But, the last time we went, we were wildly overcharged. Your ticket is handwritten and then totalled at the register, so it seemed a little high, but we didn't realize how wrong it was until I checked my text receipt later. We were charged $2 more each for our meal than the menu price, we knowingly paid the 3.5% for paying with a credit card, but we each paid that 3.5 on the total, not just our portion, so they got double for that, and I still can't make the math work on the two lines for tax on my text receipt, which was also charged to both of us on the total and is even higher than the 9.97% Bixby/Tulsa tax rate per the internet. We'd had water, and after tax and tip, we ended up paying $35 for two $10.99 meals. I am still annoyed (and won't forget this one soon).

Friendly service and great food at a reasonable price!! Very fresh and tasty! Second time here. Will be back for sure!

You want the best catfish in the Tulsa area? Not a problem, the lazy fisherman has it. Want some great regular and jalapeño hush puppies? Yup, got them too! Those perfect fries that are crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle? Shocker, they know how to use that fryer! However, what truly may be a surprise is that they also serve one of the meanest old school burgers around as well. It has the sear from the blacktop but isn't some skimpy smash burger, the patties are thick and oh so beefy. The double with jalapeños is something worth trying. One small quibble is that they no longer serve beer and often have some odd hours but it's all worth it!

For what I have tasted, The Lazy Fisherman is the best food tasting place. All the flavors go amazingly together. It's a nice welcoming environment.

She explained the different menu boards to us, one is for seafood boils, one is for fried food and one was the lunch menu. We placed our orders, grabbed our drinks and sauces and took a seat at one of the large, loungey booths. The sauces are self serve with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, ketchup and malt vinegar. Our crab bites came out quick with a side of creamy (not spicy) remoulade sauce. We quickly dove in and were greeted with flavorful little nuggets of crabby goodness. Our shrimp and catfish platters came out next. The batter on both the shrimp and the catfish was incredible! It was cornmeal based, super crispy and well seasoned. You could see the flavor in the breading it was so good. The waffle fries were also exceptional. They weren't just there for backup, they were part of the delicious crispy flavor trio. The portion size was generous. I ate about half and took the other half with while my parents split a platter. The inside of the restaurant is very spacious and clean with a bright, modern feel to the space. It would be good for small or large groups. Again, I just wish I had tried this place sooner! I will be back ASAP to try some of the other menu items. The seafood boils look interesting, served with different flavored butters. I fully recommend this place for locals or if you're just stopping through the area and craving delicious seafood.

Since it was my first time being able to get a daiquiri I took the chance and got a mango daiquiri. It had me spinning after a few sips but it was a perfect match with the food. The server was so polite and offered great alternatives if you wandered about mixing and matching menu items. My food ended up taking a while so they gave me an extra piece of fish and let's just say that I was certainly pleased with that gesture. I didn't eat it all In one setting, so I was able to take some home and actually have lunch the next day. The place was such a relaxed space and easy spot to consume your food. It wasn't too cold in there and it wasn't too noisy. I will surely return.

The lamb was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone. I usually skip sides, but I tried the collard greens. They had bacon in them as God intended. The bar is the first thing you see when you walk in, and it's right next to the dining area, so you can't have casual or dressy at one without the other. The birthday part was fun because they served ice cream with a sparkler lit in it, which is way more fun than a regular free dessert or someone singing to our table. Nice touch! Truffle fries appetizer is the best. I order this wherever possible around Tulsa, and this was one of the better ones! Filet mignon was done well. If you like garlic, add the double garlic toum, which is basically puréed garlic to add on the steak. Mac and cheese was just ok. Whipped potato gratin was different and tasty. I wish they had crispy brussel sprouts for a side like other steakhouses. Iceberg wedge salad was good, but they only had one cheese substitute if you don't like blue cheese. I asked for ranch instead and it was good. We tried to change our reservation on a Wednesday night to push it back by 30 minutes due to work urgencies, and they showed no availability online, yet we didn't see more than two other parties there the entire time. They need to work out their online system better as this isn't an issue with other restaurants. Definitely worth a try, and I would go back.

For my starter I ordered "Our Nice Little Salad" this beauty was crisp, fresh, and had tomatoes that popped in your mouth and bursted with flavor. The in-house croutons had that perfect buttery crunch, spiced pecans added a unique boldness and the homemade ranch was thick and creamy. I will say I had to ask three times for ranch. I just kept waiting. For our main courses we had the bone-in pork chop. Thick, juicy, and properly rested paired with red mashed potatoes.... Which were very good. The seasonal corn - was gone so quick! It was just so delicious. Ate that right up!! The shrimp scampi leaned heavily into garlic and butter in the best possible way. Shrimp were big, tender and juicy. Unfortunately my rotisserie chicken.... was very dry. I kept choking because of that. I was unable to eat it, that was disappointing. As far as atmosphere... very warm lighting, intimate feels, candle lit, steady energy, attentive staff. The dining room hums with laughter and happy customers... but without overtaking the conversation at our table. The volume was comfortable considering it was a full house.
