Ah yes, the Library. Before I came to DFW I had heard of this place from friends and was told nothing but good things, however, when I experienced it first hand, I was extremely disappointed. Let's start with the good things I suppose: It's spacious, and when I say that, I mean it's huge. I've never had a hard time finding anyplace to sit. They have an upstairs (which I've never been to) and the main room surrounding the bar has enough tables to fit the people that frequent it. It has about 4 pool tables if I remember and every time I go there is little to no wait. Aaaaaand now with the negatives: Terrible service. There are so many people that go there you'd think they'd load up on bartenders but it never seems like enough. Also, the crowd. Now I'm not knocking the whole college experience but this place is loaded with the stereotypical college frat boys. You have the nice girls minding their own business at one table and then you see the lions den sitting next to them plotting their next move. Overall, it's a last ditch effort bar. If every place else you've gone is packed and you want a place to be with your friends, I suppose it's okay. It's big enough that you won't be walking through waves of people to get to the bathroom. read more

I'm pretty much a dive bar kind of guy and The Library is not a dive place. However, Library has low cost drinks until 11:00PM, cute and friendly bartenders and a good mix of people (up until 11:30'ish.) So, as I mentioned, this place is great and has nice mix of people from 9:00-11:30'ish. Around 11:30 you will have noticed (once you turn around from the bar) that the place eventually gets overun by the younger crowd and the ipod/laptop "DJ" start his mp3 playlist of 'urban' top-40. By then, you've had your fill of the very reasonably priced drinks, friendly bartenders and people watching and you're ready to move down the block or down to West 7th. If you're a younger person (20's) then you will love this place the later it gets. For old farts like me who played that game 15 years before you'll quickly get annoyed once the later crowd shows up. However, those first couple of early hours (9-11) the place is pretty fun and affordable. Oh, and by the way, this is a bar that you can smoke inside and outside. Thankfully, this bar and Fort Worth has not yet succumbed to the BS of forcing businesses to ban a legal product and the use of it. read more

Not bad, there's pool tables upstairs, and the bartenders are all pretty knowledgable when ordering mixed drinks. I like the patio and sitting out people watching. The only issue is the bathrooms are quite run down. I'd go before you get there. read more

Tuesday live dj and bingo night was great. The drinks are nice and strong. Coming from NY where a drink is $12 and up it was refreshing to only have to pay for $4 for jack Daniels with Coke. A friend and I went here on a rainy Sunday. Sundance square was a festival with beer and street tacos and my friend wasn't a big fan of the crowd. We pop in and maybe 5 people are there drinking. We find a patio table. They had only 3 and figured out quick we needed to go to the bar to order. The bartender who's make looked like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, came to use. My friend asked for a beer menu and the bartender said oh we don't have one and walked away to talk to the 5 ppl at the end of the bar and completely ignored us. They should of been happy with us being paying customers coming out in the rain AND a festival. The other ppl there where her lil friend clearly drinking for free. I would pass this bar and head to the flying saucer, scat cat lounge or Pete's piano bar for sure. This place sucks!!! read more

Came here twice and had a lot of fun. Weird there's no food served here, purely drinks! And cheap too, well compared to Los Angeles. Got 2 shots for $6 total on a Friday and I guess Saturday went up a bit cause it was $9 for 2 shots, but still cheaper than what I'm used to. ATMOSPHERE: No live DJ, just a play list, but they had good music. No one really danced, other than us and a couple other people who joined in. But there is a lot of space to dance. This is one of the most popular bars in downtown Ft Worth. The location is walking distance from Sundance Square and parking downtown is free during evenings and weekends, but very hard to find on the weekends. The bar is basically one large room, though there are pool tables on a balcony up some stairs. If you come on a weekend or TCU game night the bar is uncomfortably packed; I don't know what the fire-code capacity us but I am certain they exceed it. You can barely walk to the bar and it is so smoky. Also, on those nights you will see a ton of college kids who are really loud and boisterously drunk. The large room is darn with smoke and people are bumping into each other every weekend. However, if you come during the week the bar is pleasant. Since it is spacious the smoke isn't much of a factor during the week and there are open pool tables. You will always have to wait for a drink in this bar because on busy nights the bartenders are swamped and on slow nights they only keep one bartender. On Thursdays they do $2 drinks so they charge a cover at the door, they ALWAYS check IDs at the door. I dont mind going here, but its never a first choice. Check out Bar 9 or Houston Street Bar nearby instead. read more

The decor and display layout of this bar/sports lounge is one of the best in Fortworth, TX. Chris the bartender is very attentive, friendly and can create a delicious custom drink. The extra curricular activities upstairs in the loft area are great for couples and competitive spirits. Touchtunes is available for your DJ'n experience. The shrimp tacos were delightful and the $12 Smoke Stack was meaty and completely satisfying. Only Con, they don't have desert. read more

BEWARE OF RACIST BOUNCER/STAFF I went out for a night in the FTW with my two friends (African American) we were going to meet some other friends up at the Library Bar ( where I had been to before when I first moved to TX from ca) My two friends were not dressed like LiL WAYNE OR YOUNG JEEZY for that matter. My friend Justin was wearing skinny jeans and a Turquoise Thermal, and his brother was wearing skinny jeans and a Cardigan. Only Catch was that his brother did have a hat and shades on (lol I did not support his choice of sunglasses at night) We get to the door the bouncer says immediately "you guys aren't coming in" I replied "why?" very confused. He said "he has a hat on and he has shades" I said "ok, not a big deal man we will put them up in the car and roll back" the bouncer said " no.... your not coming in at all tonight"...... WTH? We went back and forth for a while and still he did not say why we couldn't have just put the hat and glasses in the car? I have always heard my black friends talk about stuff like this happening but never actually have I been there. It was horrible and blatantly aimed at their race. We later left and went to loan star and had a good time with the older crowed lol. In all seriousness if you google this place you will see a slew of related complaints. When I'm out in Ft. Worth, it's mandatory to make a stop in here for $2.50 long island iced teas. . .and yes, I double fist them. After pumping a couple of those into my system, I'm pretty much up for anything. My dancing is suddently much improved and my lines flow effortlessly off my lips (allegedly). I'll agree that this place can get a little too crowded when it's really going, but compared to bars of the same size in Dallas their service is A+. It's definitely a crowd full of college students and townies, but thankfully there's a Pete's Dueling Piano Bar next door that appears to be the black hole for most of the douches. Minus the incredible cheapness of the LITs, there isn't a whole lot going on. The bar has the obligatory flat-screen tvs and a small upstairs area houses a couple pool tables and a severely beaten air hockey table. The crowd always seems to get a little testy around the 12:45-1a.m. mark so this is usually my sign to leave (the fact that I can't see past the end of my nose at this point has NOTHING to do with it). But fear not my cowtown drinkers. A quick jump past the neverending Pete's line and you're at City Streets. . .may the alcohol gods be with you. read more

With The Library Bar, the most important thing is to set your expectations appropriately. If you are 35+ and looking for a "sophisticated" place to sip cocktails and talk about your 401k, then The Library Bar isn't for you. For what it is, I definitely rate this place 5 stars. It's a great place to go earlier in the night no matter how old you are to get a few super cheap drinks before you officially start your night. If you are looking for the "college scene" then obviously it is the place for you as well! I like the library because it is a well organized place and a great value. It's one of the better hangouts in Fort Worth's Sundance Square area. The drinks are cheap and the bartenders have liberal pours for the drinks. The club is decently sized but the place gets packed after 11 pm! Most of the patrons are college students from TCU and the surrounding Tarrant County area. One of the reason I like coming out to Fort Worth as opposed to Dallas has to be with the people. Don't get me wrong, I love Dallas night life but it seems to be congested with fake "30k millionaires". I feel more at ease just relaxing for a night of dinner and drinks with friends in Fort Worth. read more

We came here twice on a weekend trip to Fort Worth. So that's either saying the place is pretty awesome or there's not much else going on in Fort Worth. It's a pretty big sized place. Dress code is casual. Friday night there was a DJ, Saturday night I think they were playing music videos. There some pool table on one side of the bar and an upstairs area that I never made my way to. We got a dope bartender who was super nice with cute dimples (Matt, I think his name was) so he started our night off right. Both nights the crowd was mixed, but fun!
